Opera + Composite + flash bug

Since Opera is free, i'm using it and love it. I just hate that the flash plugin is under AUR and not in Official Extras  :evil:   -why?-
My only problem is that flash doesn't work with composite manager enabled. It doesn't crash like firefox does, but just doesn't show any flash-stuff. I've found in many sites how to fix this under firefox, but not for Opera...
Can anyone please help me? I really like composite -just eye candy-, but had to disable it because of this
Thanks in advance

The package in AUR contains the same binary as the package in extra. You could just install the official package and create two symlinks:
ln -s /opt/mozilla-plugins/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/opera/plugins/libflashplayer.so
ln -s /opt/mozilla-plugins/flashplayer.xpt /usr/lib/opera/plugins/flashplayer.xpt

Start Opera with
XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 opera
Works for me, but it's quite slow.

  • Looking for list of ie7 and flash bugs

    I'd like to stay clear of any ie7 and flash bugs that are out there, does anyone know of a list of any known bugs with flash player and ie7?
    I'm currently experiencing an issue where flash 10 and my app do not work in IE7 but they work fine in all other browsers.

    Hi, Check in Tools, manage add ons(all categories) for Shockwave Flash Object and make sure it is Enabled and is the same version of Flash Player you have Installed.
    Test with each browser here and if Flash Player is Installed correctly you should see the animation and the version of Flash Player will be displayed also. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
    If you need further help, post back your operating system, other browsers used and versions.

  • Is it flash bug? Tween Class

    I've been working on a bit big project. I've some components on the stage. There are basically 4 frames. Each frame has some components. What I've done is, I've used tween class. Workflow is something like this:
    Frame 1:
    --used Tween class to get fade effect for List component.
    --used Tween.MOTION_FINISH event to fire an event when it is finished.
    --when it is finished, applied eventListener
    --on Change event, remove eventListeners and use Tween class again to get reverse fade effect.
    --again used Tween.MOTION_FINISH event to fire an event when finished.
    --in that evenHandler, gotoAndStop(2);
    Frame 2:
    //similar
    Frame 3:
    //similar
    and so on.. now, what happens, is, if i play with my scene, sometimes tween class failed to work. sometimes it does not display List component, sometimes it displays List component with alpha 0.2. sometimes it happens with movieClip also. Is it flash bug or problem with my code?

    probably a coding problem.  the most common error that seems like a flash bug would be to define a tween within a function body allowing flash to gc that tween, possibly before it starts and/or completes.

  • Serious Flash bug?

    Hello. I am a newbie to this forum, so I am sorry if this
    message is off-topic. If it is, I would be obliged if anyone could
    direct me to the correct place.
    I am a veteran programmer but I am new to actionscript. I
    have come across some strange behavour which is driving me mad.
    Following is a part of my code :
    ...[snip]...
    private var pnt:Point = new Point();
    private var dirp:int;
    private var fastp:int;
    private var i:int;
    private var pathB:Array;
    ...[snip]...
    for (dirp=fastp; dirp<=i; dirp++) {
    // BUG!!! If I UNCOMMENT 1 of the 2 following lines, code
    gets mixed up.
    // pnt.x=pathB[dirp][0].x+pathB[dirp][2].x;
    // pnt.y=pathB[dirp][0].y+pathB[dirp][2].y;
    pnt=new
    Point(pathB[dirp][0].x+pathB[dirp][2].x,pathB[dirp][0].y+pathB[dirp][2].y);
    if (addElement(pnt, dirp, pathB[dirp][2], pathB[dirp][3]+1))
    return pathF;
    As I mention above, if I uncomment //pnt.x=... or //pnt.y=...
    or if I even replace them with something like pnt.x=pnt.x+1 ;
    then my code gets mixed up and returns wrong results.
    This is driving me nuts because these two lines shouldn't
    have any effect since right below them there is
    pnt=new Point(...);
    which supposedly "cancels" the 2 previous instructions.
    Right?
    Could anyone, please, show me the obvious that I can't see?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Bill Kotsias

    it's not necessarily a flash bug. there are situations where
    assigning your pnt's x and y properties may trigger some other code
    to execute and re-assigning those properties immediately afterwards
    does not stop the other code from executing.
    you need to isolate the minimum code needed to display the
    issue before anyone will check it. you're nowhere close to that
    now:

  • Blue operating light flashing yellow,/seems to be no video/

    Pavillion P7-1297cb  QZ233AA  HP2711xmonitor
    My logitech mouse stopped working on programmable keys so I rebooted.  The normal blue operating light flashed yellow three times, went back to blue but no boot.  Tilted box and checked cables, retried and then everything normal.  Computer 1 1/2 years old.
    What's wrong?

    Unfortunately, you never know what's gonna happen if you drop a phone.  You could try holding the power and volume down buttons simultaneously for about 30 seconds and see if that will reboot the phone.  If the phone seems to be working ok after that, a screen replacement might work.  Otherwise, you may have to replace the phone.

    I have an embedded Mediaplayer (11) and a playlist file

    After the video is done it loads a AD created in Flash but
    all of a sudden links inside the Flash is no longer clickable in
    IE7.
    It has worked fine and it also works in FireFox and Opera no

    I know that Brightroll (AD company) delivers lots of ads this

    Can anybody confirm this bug and is there a solution to this

    Hi Gaurav! Thanks for your reply.
    I do indeed use a lot of Javascript, but it's all
    encapsulated ("namespaced") and so it shouldn't be interfering with
    anything!
    Maybe I tweaked something in the Spry code that I shouldn't
    have, but I can't imagine what...
    I will try rebuilding the Spry menu, as you suggest.

  • Samsung Video Flashing Bug

    I found a bug in the current version of the firmware (version 1024) for the Samsung TV UN55D8000. I just wanted to let people be aware of the issue.
    The issue is that the app flashes black when a video attempts to loop.
    I have the stageVideo seek to the start to its 0 point when the netstream reports that the video has reached its end.
    When the video loops, the entire app flashes to a black screen for a split second.
    This is NOT a problem on the Broadcom developer box or on TiVo devices - just the above mentioned Samsung TV. Therefore, I assume this is a Samsung bug.

    Thanks for sharing the info.

  • Image size / flash bug ?

    Hi there,
    I did a website for a photographer: very simple, three themes
    (music, portrait, nude) every theme with one large image that you
    can scroll through.
    One of the images is nearly 10.000px width. This was no
    problem, a few month ago when I created the movie first (in
    FlashMX). Now it suddenly is. The movie already works fine in some
    browsers/computers, but in some browsers it doesn’t ... (It
    seems not to be a browser or Mac/PC-problem, because I’ve
    seen both: Macs it works on, PCs it works on, Macs it
    doesn’t, etc ..) When I now create a movie with CS3 (same
    fla-file) all I see is a red face. I figured out that when
    I’m scaling down the image size (to 7.500px width), it works,
    then I can create a movie in CS3 that works.
    Does anyone hear of that problem. Is it a FlashCS3 bug?
    You can see the website here (if you’re lucky you can
    see the naked girls!):

    hi Victor, I was able to view your images in an older version
    of flash player (9,0,47) Your flash player is most likely the
    latest one (9,0,115). The latest flash player version has a problem
    displaying images that have been saved in cmyk colors. Try to
    reexport the image in RGB and then re-insert it in Flash.

  • Template & flash bug DW8?

    I have just updated a site that had a small flash movie in a
    non editable
    region in templated pages.
    DW offered to update the code and it wrapped the flash movie
    in the
    'AC_FL_RunContent' script tags.
    AC_FL_RunContent(
    'codebase','
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.
    cab#version=7,0,19,0','name','logo','width','176','height','133','id','logo'
    ,'onmouseover','MM_controlShockwave(\'logo\',\'\',\'Play\')','src','../flash
    /log11','quality','high','pluginspage','
    http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflas
    hplayer','swliveconnect','true','movie','../flash/log11' );
    //end AC code
    The flash movie link inside these tags is now *fixed* to the
    link which in
    the template ( ../flash/log11 )
    Any child page spawned from the template retains this link
    wherever it is
    saved to in the site and only plays the movie if the
    ../flash/log11 link
    happens to be correct.
    Detach the template and the link reverts to what it should be
    and the movie
    plays.
    Once I worked out what was happening it was not too difficult
    to find a
    workaround but appreciate it if anyone could shed some light.

  • Explorer HTML text flash bug?

    Hello!
    I have the following problem for a dynamically created
    textfield:
    mytext.text = "<b>bold text</b><span
    class='green'>green</span>";
    Even tough it works great in the Flash environment, it will
    render differently in an IE7 browser.
    In Firefox, it renders the bold and class tags correctly. IE7
    doesn't render anything, it show only plain text: "<b>bold
    text</b><span class='green'>green</span>"...
    If I change text to htmlText, IE7 will render the bold tags
    but no class [stylesheet] tags correctly... and Firefox will only
    show the bold tags, no line breaks and no class [stylesheet] tags
    correctly?
    AS2 had some bugs regarding html rendering but I don't think
    I ever had this problem regarding html text back then...
    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance,
    T.

    I too am experiencing the same bug with my own site. The only
    thing that makes me feel better about the situation is this problem
    is seen on Adobe's home page as well. If you pull up a browser in
    Linux and view the homepage, you will notice that the pull down
    menu on this site falls under the flash animation.
    My only solution so far is to check the clients OS and if
    it's reported as a Linux box then to serve up a static image
    instead. This only works if the OS is being reported correctly to
    the server... Not a good overall solution though.
    Does anyone know if any fix is underway?

  • Hi, all.  Obvious flash bug?

    Hi, all.  I appreciate all the help being offered here but I've observed what appears a denial that this last update has caused a large amount of headaches all around.
    I'm on Win 7 Sp1 x64 and Firefox 3.6.15.  Just to test Flash I turned off all addons, themes, and extentions except the Firefox defaults. I shut down FF and used the Flash uninstaller, used Advanced System Cleaner and the os disk cleaner to flush all cashes, clean the registry, and clean the drive in general.  I rebooted my machine, stopped all extraneous background programs and services, restarted a clean FF, and went to play a video on MaxPc that hasn't been working,  The page indicated I neede Flash so I installed it and turned off hardware acceleration.
    Needless to say the video played no longer than 57 secs and stopped.  Nothing I did, refresh, etc., would cause it to go further.
    Flash has a bug!  No amount of denial is going to change this.  We all depend on it.  It needs to be fixed.
    Please, if I've missed any steps in my experiment let me know.

    Hi Paw Bear,
    I know what the problem is and it's the new version of Flash Player 10.2...  Here is a link to the archive of older versions of Flash Player that worked:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  I removed the new Flash Player version from my system following the instructions to a T and the videos would start to play for only a second or two, then a black screen or even a white screen (this was on Youtube).  It was only after I searched through other threads on this Adobe Flash Forum that I found the link to the older archived versions.  Go through the steps of removing the new Flash Player again, then go to the archive link.  I selected v 10.1 and it worked like a charm.  You will have to unzip the folder and manually install all three (3) files that have the red "Flash" logo on them.  After you do this you should be good to go.  Good luck!  I know this is a very frustrating problem and I want to help as many people as I can on this forum because, let's face it, we completely depend on "video" to enjoy our computers.  I hope you will let me know if this helps and if it doesn't, I'll try to find some other info for you or maybe I can clarify my instructions.
    Warmly,
    fairplay08

  • Flashing flash bug

    http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/thread/1bd84580-ed93-4a3 0-b1c1-60329b47a628
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/532521?tstart=0
    the above two links talk about a problem that's becoming increasingly common for people i talk to.  i can't recall an instance where this glitch has occurred on relatively powerful hardware.  i won't be able to personally confirm this til around christmas.
    I personally have experienced this problem with Windows 7 Pro, x86 legit.  Happens for me most commonly at http://ase.zomghi2u.com  - n270 atom, 1.5gb ram, gma945.
    doesn't seem to happen with webkit based browsers, nor any browser in linux.  (confirmed with fedora 11-12 and slackware.  i suspect Mac users have nothing to worry about, either.
    my theories stem from a number of things; chatango's flash embeds were known to bring a computer to it's knees by what seems like a slow memory leak, since flash 9.  windows vista/7 have compositing and i believe i remember reading about how flash 10+ was meant to bring flash to the gpu?  perhaps there needs to be more sandboxing in place to prevent flash from doing stupid things in vram, etc?
    anyway, not going to pretend i know more than i do, just pass on any information that might help the people that do.
    my main concern is that this might be a problem that doesn't get fixed because it's only immediately noticeable on lower end hardware.  this could really be something that bites adobe in the *** later.

    ah, the adobe link is incorrect.  not sure what happened there.
    anyway, to add more information, when the problem occurs for me in firefox, the entire embed will blank out and then redraw itself about half a second later.  sometimes this will happen multiple times in succession.  the crazy thing is sometimes parts of the firefox chrome will redraw itself in the same manner, like scrollbars, etc.  i seem to be able to trigger this by clicking from text input box to text input box within various flash embeds on the same page.  what ends up redrawing is relatively random.  almost guaranteed to at least by the embed i clicked, switchin focus from one to another.  sometimes all the embeds light up and redraw, sometimes just 1 or 2, and sometimes it'll be an embed or two plus bits of the firefox chrome.
    also, i have noticed this glitch only happens to areas of the page that come after the embed i'm triggering this response from.  mozilla chrome, included.  for example, causing the glitch on the second chat at http://ase.zomghi2u.com will cause random bits of the page to the right and below to flash/blank/redraw.
    so, perhaps this mainly has to do with capturing focus and the gpu?  maybe this has more to do with windows changing how the mouse and cursor work with the gpu?
    please note, i've heard of this same problem happening for both vista and 7 users.

  • Iframe flash bug (redrawing the iframe in upper left corner)??

    Hi All.
    Has anyone found a fix for this safari bug. When I place an iframe on my web page holding a flash file it looks fine on all other browsers than safari!!
    In safari (latest version, not beta and earlier versions) the first time a visitor opens the page the flash movie is drawn in the upper left corner as well as the position it should be in. If the visitor reloads the page it looks ok and the "extra" flash movie is no longer in the upper left corner.
