Opera Mini question

Opera mini came built in on my 5130 right. I see that the opera mini version in use on my phone is 4.1.something while the latest version is actually 4.2. So my question is, can I just download and install opera mini 4.2 as per usual or is there some other way to do it since it is the default "built in" browser? I have the latest firmware by the way (6.65)

the only way you can upgrade the built-in browser is through firmware updates, which may bring baseline updates to the browser or not (depending on Nokia). the 4.2 you downloaded is the generic vanilla variant of Opera, which is also for mobiles that don't have Opera pre-installed or the like. Nokia S40 is the software platform that your phone uses, you do not need to worry about this, it is just stating what the OS is. that is true, you need to use the built-in browser to use sites such as Nokia.mobi because it does contain data about what phone model you are using, which the generic version of Opera doesn't contain.
anyways, bottom line is what i said. you can only hope that if there are future firmware upgrades, that Nokia includes updates to the Opera browser. you cannot do anything more about this matter.
please throw some kudos our way, it would mean a lot to us

There is a way to get back only the link of the saved pages but this can be done only if you have a backup of the saved pages. To do this you will need a good file manager like xplore. Install xplore and then in it select the drive where you have installed Opera mini. If its in E: drive then select E: then system->apps>OperaMini>saved pages> in it you will see some files like (file158965). You select that file and then rename it as (file158965.txt). Then open that file. In that file you will see the link starting with http://. Before the starting of the link question marks will be there and after the completion of the link same question marks will be there if there are some question marks in between the link ignore them. Then copy the link and paste it in the address bar. This will take you to the corresponding site. Check and reply.

  • Opera mini on emulator

    Hi all,
I would like to know how to install Opera Mini on BlackBerry emualtor ?
    Thanks in advance !
    R

I managed to install Opera Mini 5.1 on a 4.6 OS doing that :
    - Open the web browser
    - Type http://m.opera.com
    - Follow the instructions
    Very simple indeed!
But I still observe a bunch of bugs (a lot of Java exceptions are thrown) which prevent me to perform tests. So I have 2 questions:
=> Can anyone properly use Opera Mini on 4.6 simulator ?
=> Are there the same bugs on a real device ?

  • Nokia 5530: video with opera mini

Hello, I want to make you some questions:
1- How can I watch online videos (like google videos) with opera mini browser?
2-  It's possible to set Opera Mini as the defaut browser, instead of Nokia's browser, when you open links?
    Thank  you

Sorry , but NO and NO. You can use Opera mobile as default browser, but it only opens attachments and links in mail, everything else reverts to native browser. Best way to watch Youtube is to download the YouTube app from Google mobile.

Unfortunately Opera does not support Flash. You can use Skyfire to view video, but as a browser it's very laggy !

  • Opera mini on Palm TX

I would like to try to use opera mini on my Palm TX.  I have read a number of posts and advise pages, but I fear I am too dim to even get the software loaded.  I installed 2 java prcs as suggested, then went to mini.opera.com with my TX blazer browser.  It correctly detected I was using a TX device.  It said the size of the mini.prc was 315 kb, and that my Palm had 45 Mb of room, yet would not download the program because I had insufficent space.  Clearly that is wrong.  I then tried to download the mini program from the opera site to my windows computer, but could only get the jar/jad files, and these cannot be hot synched to my TX.  I am not sure how to procede.  If I could get the mini.prc file I suppose I could hot synch it to the palm, but who knows.  It is all mysterious to me.  I would appreciate any help I can get.
    Thanks in advance

  • Opera Mini for LG Cosmos Touch (VN270)?

I used to have Opera Minia on my LG Cosmos Touch phone.  Late last year, I had to exchange the phone for warranty reasons.  I tried to update the new phone with my previous apps, but the Opera Mini was no longer available for the phone!  Does anyone know what happened?  Will Opera Mini be available again for the LG Cosmos Touch?  It is a great browser and much better than the one that comes with the phone.

    Hello SteveRo,
I realize the convenience that the Opera Mini browser provides.  After a search of the Verizon Wireless Media Store it appears that the LG Cosmos Touch is not currently compatible with this browser.  I am unable to predict if it will be available again in the future.  If you have any additional questions or concerns I would be happy to work with you.  I appreciate your patience and understanding.

  • Opera Mini on 9330

Hello again all.  Was wondering if anyone had any luck getting OM working on the 9330?  I installed 5.1 via http://m.opera.com.  It works, but the track pad is EXTREMELY sensitive with it, so much so that it's almost impossible to use.  It's a shame too, because it's a really nice looking browser.  Just wondering.  Thanks!
Oh, and BTW - before anyone asks, "Why do you want to use opera mini?", let me say that I downloaded it to get flash video.  I couldn't get it to work with the BB browser so I assumed that it wasn't supported.  When I opened up a youtube video in OM, it opened the BB browser to play it.  LOL.  Now it seems as if the BB browser supports flash.  Any fill in info on this?

    Thanks.
Didn't mean to unnecessarily bother the BlackBerry community with a third party app question.  I was just curious to hear what others may have experienced.  Not really hoping or even looking for a solution, although one would have been welcome had it been forthcoming
Being new to SmartPhones, I tend to take the traditional 'desktop PC' outlook when it comes to software.  I'll have to get out of that habit.  I would think flash would be a limitation of the browser, rather than the OS.  Again, displaying my ignorance for everyone to see, that's the reason for my inquiry into OM.
I'll just stick with the BB browser.  It's not important enough for me to stress about.  Just playing around.

  • Opera mini for TX

Has anyone has success getting the Opera mini browser to work on the Palm TX? According to Opera, http://www.operamini.com/download/pc/palm/palm_tx/ the mini does work on the TX.  I quote: "Based on testing performed by Opera Software, this device [Palm TX] supports Opera Mini Advanced (MIDP 2)."
They also note at Opera FAX: http://www.operamini.com/help/faq/#palm: " Opera Mini works with a number of Palm devices, however you may need to install a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) before downloading Opera Mini. Please see our list of supported Palm devices."
I install the Opera Mini and Java Virtual Machine from Palm (though it was not easy to find),  but when I try to use the Opera browser, the opening screeen appears, but then it disappears, and I'm back to the basic menu of the Palm.  Pressing any button then reboots the TX.  Any ideas?

  • Can't get Opera mini to connect - symbian S60 3rd ...

I have installed Opera Mini v7.1.32448 on my Nokia 6700 slide which runs symbian S60 3rd edition. I keep getting the error that it can't connect. (The phone does not have WiFi and I connect using Vodafone). The phones built in web browser connects to the internet just fine, but I'd like to use 'opera' instead. On trying 'network test' in the advance Opera settings, it acknowledges that 'I have a working network connection'.  Any suggestions why it won't connect for me?
    Attached, 2 x screen grabs, 1) I have network -2) I can't connect!

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately it was of no help at all. Using Nokia Suite, the version of Opera Mini, is the only one available for download to my phone. It's irritating that I can connect using the standard Nokia built in browser, but as I have a very low data contract on my SIM, would love to be able to use Opera Mini to compress web surfing.
I have tried the different 'connection' options offered by Opear Mini, which are (1) use system default, (2) internet (3) WAP services. None of which connect for me. I'm sure it's a simple 'setting' somewhere, but my limited knowledge is now more than exhausted!
Just can't understand why the standard browser connects straight away, yet Opera can't make that same leap!

  • Muse/business catalyst: opera mini / opera mobile gets stuck in desktop view

After visiting a muse site and switching to desktop view, Opera Mini continues to serve it up even when reverting the original URL:
    1. Create a site site.com with a  mobile and desktop view.
    2. Provide link to get from mobile to desktop.
    3. Open site with opera mini.  The mobile view loads.
    4. Click the link to get to the desktop view.  Muse redirects to something like site.com/phone/index.html?devicelock=phone
    5. Put in the URL for the original site, eg. site.com.
    6. Now, when you go to site.com, the URL resolves to the desktop site.  Incorrectly.
    7. Try clearing the history and cache in opera mini -> same result.
    8. Go to explicit link to phone site.  Then go back to base URL site.com.  Still resolves incorrectly to desktop site.
It appears Muse is not supporting opera mini / mobile responsively, please advise.

That's not quite correct. Please see step #8 above.  Even if I follow a "go to phone site" link with a "devicelock=phone" parameter, it may take me to the phone site, but default navigation remains stuck on desktop, when I put in the site URL.  If your understanding of the design is what you described, then the actual behavior is not in alignment. I would appreciate you passing that on to the engineers.
Even with the design you describe, there is a problem considering the following use case:
    1. User views phone site on their flip phone.
    2. User attempts to load desktop site.  Site loads, but is not viewable on mobile device.
    3. User wants to revert to phone site and does not have ability to click a link, so they go back to the referring page or e-mail which contains ... the original site URL.
After the user clicks desktop link, the site is lost to them, unless they can figure out how to (and agree to) kill all their cookies.

  • Does anybody has problem with playing youtube in Opera Mini after iOS6 update?

After iOS6 update I can not play youtube from Opera Mini,- neither link to youtube works and embedded video as well. It works ok with Safari, but I prefer using Opera Mini instead. If there is a embedded youtube video or just a link to m.youtube, Opera mini does nothing:(

Cool, in OperaMini forum, there is an answer, that issue has been noticed and will be solved someday!

  • Opera Mini - Nokia Asha 201

I have just lost my opera mini on my nokia asha 201 phone on the menu screen....how can i get it back on the menu screen please help????
Moderator's Note: The subject was amended as the post was moved to a more appropriate board.

    Hi Njakeslezinto,
Just to verify, do you want to personalize the home screen? Have you tried checking if the Home Screen Mode on your phone? You can try to check this by going to Menu > Settings > Home Screen > Home Screen Mode > On. After checking that, you can also go to Personalize view > Shortcut Bar > you will see a cog icon beside it > Add on the shortcuts tab the "Apps and games." This contains the Opera Mini Application.

  • Nokia 6303 classic issue with opera mini

I just bought Nokia 6303 classic and contacted my provider for enabling gprs on the phone, and I received and installed the configuration by sms. While these settings work just fine with the phone's browser, Opera Mini and all other apps can't connect to the internet. What should I do to fix this?

You must use a .prov file.
