Opera Mobile 10 beta on 5800

I saw that Opera Mobile 10 beta was available to try.  I went to Opera and downloaded the browser using the phone and installed it.  I started it and everything was good but then I started getting the out of memory error.  I have around 27 MB of phone memory, 3.2 GB of card memory and around 25-35 MB of RAM free.  I do have both Mini 5 and Mobile 10 installed.  Has anyone else tried the browser and has anyone else had the same issue?

You need to change the "disk cache" settings within opera to get it working properly on S60v5 devices.
See the link below for help (it's for the N97 but works on the 5800):

  • 5800, Opera Mobile and Flash

    Hi,
I'm using Opera Mobile and can't see Flash animations. Is it about me or what?

Hi Opera doesn't support flash, try Skyfire, I use both, Opera faster, Skyfire for Flash, youtube etc
    Good Luck

  • Opera Mini or Opera Mobile --- Help?

    Hi all,
I love surfing on my N series (N82) nokia, but the native browser is horrible. i am not a fan of apple products at all but I must admit the safari browser is very cool. I have heard Opera ia a better choice for a browser on my N series. Great. I'm just not sure to download Opera Mini or Opera Mobile for the N82. Or what is the difference? should I buy the mobile version or use free mini version.
anyone got any quick advice or suggestions...
    Thanks alot

Mini is a simpler version of Mobile.
You have to pay for Opera Mobile, so it comes with more features.
I'm not sure if it offers a huge increase in performance or experience over Mini.
I have an N82 and use Mini. It's fantastic!
I had a friend recently comment "wow, your's is the first mobile that actually made me feel like i was online, and not using a phone."

  • 6220 and Opera Mobile

Is anyone else using Opera Mobile, the pay for product (not talking free Mini), on their 6220?
Mine closes down when trying to use THIS website. Just bombs out.
Opera just say file a bug report.
The phone is 10 days old! The Mobile install works fine on my 6120.
    Thanks

Hi, I've used Opera mini for about 18 months, find it great. To remove virtual keyboard go to settings (on Opera), Advanced, Inline-Editing,set to off.. You won't be able to edit on web page have to use notepad that appears then ok to enter on page, but both QWERTY and phone virtual pad will work. Also have tried Opera Mobile 10, but find it caused freezing/locking and didn't seem any better or faster than Opera mini 5 Beta, which for the last 4 months has performed faultlessly on my N97, and which I continue to use. Hope this helps. Also try Snaptu, very useful and time saving, but need to go into Application settings, Installed apps, options settings, turn off onscreen keypad.

  • N97 and Opera Mobile - virtual keyboard

Is there any way to swtich the virtual keyboard off on Opera Mobile? I'd like to be able to type direct into the webpage, like you can on the built-in browser. Also, some symbols aren't available on the virtual keyboard (and the symbol key on the hard keyboard is deactivated).

  • Opera Mobile 10.1

I experienced the last Opera Mobile version, the Opera Mobile 10.1, final version. This is a browser very demanding in ram aspects. My Nokia it´s a 5630 with about 60MB of free ram after booting. I tried to open my GMX mail account without sucess, because , in the first time i read the message that i had to close other applications before i open the mail page, thing that i hadn't.  Then i closed the browser, then i restarded the phone and i opened the browser again and tried to open my gmx mail account  and then this time the browser closed by itself.  The problem it is why this limitation of ram that nokia provides for the majority of the 3rd edition phones, including mine? Perhaps this doesn't happens on Nokia 5320, which has more 20MB of free ram than mine and certainly doesn't happens on N82 or E5, that has about 170 MB of free ram. The politic of updates seems to me not  to be the most currect. Because some Symbian phones benefict of ram upgrades, others like mine, not. It is stupid but it is this.

Get Firefox. Its in beta too But blows all other browsers away. It syncs to your Firefox on your desktop. And Firefox is a more trusted and harder to hack browser.
Easy on the fat women there, Hombre....
As far as Firefox Mobile blows other browsers away, well I believe that this statement is half-correct. You figure out which half I'm referring to....
If they get it working properly, it will indeed be a serious contender for the mobile browser award (Oh, and what a nobel
award, it is, eh?...) I've tried three of the most recent releases of Firefox mobile and at first, it appears very promising. Very cool-looking, lots of "wow" features, and this last release was the best by far so far. But....
After several minutes, it hung up. It would un-freeze and kind of clear itself. Then I'd try sometihng else with it and it would freeze again. Naturally, this latest release wan't as bad as the previous 2 about this behavoir. After a half-hour of this, I un-installed it and went back to XScope, which a very good and seemingly not-well-known Android mobile browser.
I allowed Firefox to sync with my main notebook and man, what a mess that was. A virtual link explosion. Links everywhere. More than I needed on my mobile phone. Still, a cool feature, no doubt.
In reality, the hacking issues aren't that great with mobile browsers (YET - There, I said it, okay??)
I will continue to try the subsequent releases of Firefox mobile in hopes that it becomes the browser that it certainly is capable of being. It's just there yet.
And keep in mind, not all browsers fit all people. I can't figure out for the life of me why some people like the Safari browser, but I don't think Safari sucks. It's just not for me.

  • Opera Mobile / Mini N95

Anyone ever used either on their phone? I love Opera Mini on my 6288 and might give Mini or Mobile a go on my N95 8GB - is Mobile better than Mini and worth the $24 (£12)?
    Anyone got an experiences?

I always found the default S60 browser 'Good enough' - it has a mouse, and a cool view when you scroll quickly.
It loads some site very slowly though (Wikipedia is the worst iv seen) and its Zoom features are a bit tricky, but its a very solid browser with very near-desktop results.
On my 6288 - Opera Mini is AMAZING - its incredibly fast, loads all pages supurbly, and the zoom-in-and-out features are second to none. My 6288 runs rings around many other more moden phones with Opera Mini.
Thats why I will give it a go when I get my N95 in a few days - But im thinking - Opera Mini might be designed more-so for those slower, smaller phones and the N95 might need a bit more 'oomph' so Ill try out Opera Mobile, see how I get on with it.
Unless it offers much over the S60 Web app, I dont think ill swap.

  • Web does not work after downloading Opera Mobile

For two months now, my phone has been working perfectly, but three days ago, after I'd downloaded Opera Mobile, I'm not able to use the Web app on my phone. In fact, I can't open the Nokia Store or the Ovi Music Store using my home Wi-Fi connection. As a result, I can't even check for updates on my phone by going to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications. Opera Mobile works perfectly using the same connection though. Can anybody help?

have you tried to delete Opera Mobile to see if it reverses everything?

  • 5530 software performance is better than 5800?

    Guys,
I'm a 5800XM user and and i found recently some of the feature of new released 5530XM is even better than 5800.
    1. no kinetic scrolling in 5800. Really unhappy with this, Scrololing in 5800 is quite inconvenient, the V11 firmware is worst. Why there is no kinetic scrolling in 5800?
    2. camera image quality. 3.2MP camera with carl zeis len, dual flash. Image quality i not comparable with 5530. 5800 image quality is really bad for me. The image capture is like a bit blue'ish. I wash an video on youtube, the image capture by 5530 camera is really much more better than 5800, it's quality is very good.
OMG, i'm sad with this. Can anyone tell me what is the reason of this? Nokia's developer, any problem with the firmware or it is a hardware problem. 5800XM cost higher than 5530XM.

I just got my new N8!
i installed the opera mobile 10 browser. now i want to ad an ad block filter. from blogs, i read that this is possible by just copying a filter file into the installation folder of opera.
my problem is just that i do not find the installation order for opera!!!
where does the N8 install programs?
    any help?
or does someone know another method of using an ad block? is there maybe an app for the nokia browser to block ads?

Yes, I do have the songs with the m3u file.
I tried your solution and it worked. It's not as simple as using an m3u file, but I'll take what I can get. Hurrah, my road trip and other playlists can be updated without gnashing of teeth!
    Thank you so much!

eastercat, Do I understand correctly that you have the song files in a folder along with the M3U file?
If so, do as follows:  In iTunes, File > New Playlist.  Rename the new playlist to correspond to your compilation, and open it.  Now go into the folder, delete the M3U, and drag all the songs into the open iTunes playlist window.

Open Opera Mobile and in Options-->Settings-->Privacy... Clear the Cache.. Do that on a regular basis (say before exiting every session of using the Browser) and see if the problem persists..
