Operating system required for Facetime

I'd like to use Facetime on my Mac laptop.  How can I check to see if my operating system will support it?  I do not know if I have iOS 6, which I believe is required.

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu. If the computer is running Mac OS X 10.6.6 or newer, it can use the Mac OS X version of FaceTime.
iOS 6 is for iPod touches, iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs, not Macs.
