If you are new to Forms or even not new, your best place for answers to questions like this are the Forms Builder Online Help. Open the Forms Builder and from the menu select HELP > ONLINE HELP...
In the Help window, select either the Index or Search tab and enter something like ENTER QUERY or QUERY PROCESSING

  • How to disable the Calculation mode in oracle form

    hi All,
    i have 2 text items in one block.say TEXT_A, TEXT_B
    TEXT_B is showing the SUM of TEXT_A where TEX_A is poulated by DB query and showing UOM(unit of measure for an item).
    But
    on some condition, i dont want to do SUM (like if the UOM are differents).
    how can we disable or off the calculation mode for TEXT_B.
    Nitn

    hi Craig
    thanks for your reply but its not working-
    please agn read the scenario , i have added more details -
    suppose in a single block we have 3 TEXT_ITEM
    I have one text item TEXT_A which is populated by EXECUTE_QUERY .TEXT_A having 3 lines and values may be-
    first case
    KG
    KG
    KG
    Second case
    KG
    KG
    METER
    TEXT_B also having 3 lines and USer can enter values in this field.
    TEXT_C is the sum of text_B and TEX_C is having one line as to show sum of B .
    i have set the TEXT_C property palette properties to show sum of TEXT_B and it is working fine.
    now if the values are same in TEXT_A, TEXT_C should show SUM of text_b.
    but if it is second case if the values are different then TEXT_C should not poulate .
    do we have any SET_ITEM_PROPERTY(':blk_name',???????????,prperty_false)
    ?????????= so it can disable the Summary function whihc i set from property pallettle
    hoping for reply.

  • Win XP + Oracle Forms/Reports 6i

    Hello,
    I am having issues with Oracle Forms/Reports 6i with Windows XP.
    I have session issues as well as printing reports problems.
    I have heard that Windows XP is not a certificed operating system with Oracle Forms/Reports 6i. Can anyone confirm this to me ?
    Regards,
    PT
    PS: I heard that there is a Patch issued by Oracle (Patch 11 ???) that might resolve these kind or problems (???)

    Paolo,
    Patch 13 is the XP patch. However, if you install the most recent patch, then this includes patch 13.

  • Developering ADF form in query mode (Oracle forms simulation)

    Hi,
    we have a requirement for developing the existing Oracle form using Oracle ADF. The existing Oracle form displays the form in query mode by default. We can enter the search criteria in any of the text fields and then execute query to get the results. If the user does not enter any search criteria, then the form loads specific record based on default criteria into the form. Could you please help developing similar form using ADF.
    At present I created the view object with one bind variable and dragged the view as ADF form to the jspx page. Then I am launching the form in query mode (executing the find method on the view object using operation binding at the time of loading the page). After entering the query criteria in the form, If I click on a button I am executing a method in the managed bean. In the managed bean I am executing the "Execute" operation on the view and it is working fine.
    But my problem is if the user does not enter the search criteria I have to pass default parameters to the view object and return the default record in the form.
    Can you please help in resolving the issue.
    Thanks and Regards,
    S R Prasad

    Hi Frank,
    Thank you for providing information. I created the query panel with the table by dragging all the named criteria. But this is not the look we are expecting for this form. As we have to deveop ADF form with the same behavior as oracle forms, the user must be in a position to edit the data in the same field as that of query field.
    As an example, we have to design a form for Dept table. We have to display all the columns of the dept view in the form at the time of launching the form in query mode. Once the user enters any search criteria in the form, we have to perform search and display the record(s) matching the query criteria in the same columns displayed in the form. User should not see any changes in the form layout.
    If the user does not enter any data in the form, then we have to display the record(s) in the form with the specific department id(This department id can be calculated based on the data in another table).
    Can you please help us in resolving the issue.
    Thanks and Regards,
    S R Prasad

  • Oracle Forms equivalent operations in Oracle ADF

    I need to know whether there are equivalent operations in ADF corresponding to these operations in Oracle Forms
    System.Current_block
    System.Current_record
    System.Current_form
    etc...

    As a mechanism to working out how ADF works, a suggested read is the Fusion Dev Guide: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E16162_01/web.1112/e16182/toc.htm
    Once you've done this, as extension the dev guide has appendixes "F - ADF Equivalents of Common Oracle Forms Triggers" & "G Performing Common Oracle Forms Tasks in Oracle ADF" for assisting Forms programmers in moving to ADF, a feature/mind map as you will.
    However as Vinod says, don't make the mistake of thinking ADF is similar to Forms in its implementation. While Forms and ADF attempt to achieve similar results (ie. applications querying data from a db and showing to the user to view or edit), they do it in totally different technologies.

  • Problem in concurrent update in ADF BC (compare to oracle forms)

    Hi,
    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.
    I created a simple form on EMP table using JSF/ADF BC template and then I browsed the EMP form with 2 separate browsers.
    Both browser were on the same record (for example SMITH record). I changed the value of salary in one browser and commit the change. Then, in the second browser I changed the value of salary to something else and commit. As I expected I got JBO-25014: RowInconsistentException. (a similar error was shown when we used Oracle Forms and updated one record from 2 separate sessions).
    I pressed the commit button for the second time and surprisingly enough,the changes committed successfully !!!
    In oracle Forms you had to re-query to be able to change when an error like this happened and normally it should be the same in ADF BC. The strange part is that the framework detects that the record has been changed and prevents committing operation but just for one time!!!
    I tried locking mode to both optimistic and pessimistic but there was no difference.
    Is it any way to achieve the same functionality we had in oracle forms in the past?
    Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Navid

    Hi,
    I think this can be explained the best with the fact that the web is stateless. If you mark a record for update, which you do when you submit it. Then it should get locked in the database. After commit you release the lock and whoever wants to override the value you put in can do this. I don't think that a lock should be released only if a user re-queries the data. You can code this in though: just requery the records on error

  • Not able to use SRW.USER_EXIT in oracle forms.

    Hi,
    Below is my requirement in oracle forms:
    I have a query form, which has Inventory Category Set field and Category 'From' and 'To' fields. Based on the values selected by the user for Category Set, possible combinations for Categories should be displayed in Cateogory 'From' and 'To' fields. Upon clicking the 'Find' button, only the items which belong to this category set and the range of Cateogies selected should be displayed.
    Note that 'Item Categories' Key flex field should be used here. Number of Segments for each Category set will differ. To acheive this, I have attached the Key flex field to the Cateogory 'From' and 'To' fields.
    In the PRE-QUERY trigger of the datablock, I have to use where condition to filter the items based on the category sets and categories. This where condition should be generated dynamically based on the search criteria.
    In oracle report, we have provision to use the below USER_EXIT to get the where condition to append to my PRE-QUERY statement.
    SRW.USER_EXIT('FND FLEXSQL CODE = "MCAT"
    OUTPUT = ":P_WHERE_CAT"
    APPL_SHORT_NAME= "INV"
    MODE = "WHERE"
    DISPLAY = "ALL"
    NUM = ":P_STRUCT_NUM"
    TABLEALIAS = "MCA"
    OPERATOR = "BETWEEN"
    OPERAND1 = ":P_CATEGORY_FROM"
    OPERAND2 = ":P_CATEGORY_TO"');
    But in forms, I am not able to use this USER_EXIT. Please let me know the alternate ways to get the where condition dynamically in forms.
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    Kalyan

    RAISE APPLICATION_ERROR built-in is raised in a DB procedure/function or trigger.
    You can write an ON-error trigger that will trap any DB error messages
    or
    You can use Dbms_Error_Code & Dbms_Error_Text for trapping the Error.

  • Oracle Forms Builder 10.1.2.3 hangs when opening canvas

    Hi
    I created a form with 1 master, 2 details and a tab panel. Now I can't open the canvas. Each time I try to open it Oracle Form Builder hangs. What can I do?
    Regards,
    Néstor Boscán

    I've installed Oracle Developer Suite (ODS) 10g R2 on numerous Windows 7 systems and have only encountered an issue with Forms Builder crashing a couple of times. Each time, I've been able to resolve the problem by modifying the OS PATH environment variable to ensure there is not a conflict between Oracle versions. If you only have ODS 10g installed, this should not be a problem, but if you have different versions of Forms installed - this could very well be the problem. My you might want to take a look at the OS PATH and make sure all Windows related directories are listed first. Then list the ODS directories second and lastly, list everything else. Oracle has a bad habit of putting it's program directories before the operating system directories.
    It is also possible that your installation media is bad since your install is crashing in Windows XP mode as well. That being the case, you may want to download the installer again.

  • Unable to do UPDATE in Oracle Form 10.1.2

    Hi,
    I am using an LOV to query data from a master-type table.
    -- WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED in button Retrieve
    declare
      l_number number;
      a_value_chosen boolean;
    begin
      a_value_chosen := Show_LOV('LOV_CUSTOMER');
      if not a_value_chosen then
        message('No value selected');
        raise form_trigger_failure;
      end if;
    end;First, I choose a value from the LOV. The LOV showed the selected items in the Form.
    Next, I modified some values (not the Primary Key) in the Form text items.
    Finally, I tried to Save the modification into table, using
    -- WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED in button Save
      commit_form;
      clear_form;Surprisely, it showed
    FRM-40508: ORACLE error, unable to INSERT record.
    BTW,
    Previuosly, I can do UPDATE if I use the Enter Query and Execute Query button.
    I did not attempt to do inserting, just updating.
    Could someone show where is the problem?
    Is the form status not changed by the query returned from LOV?
    Any help would be grateful.
    Many thanks,
    Imelda

    Hi,
    Glad I found all of you in this forum.
    Thanks for all of the explanations.
    I thought by using LOV would suppress the network traffic.
    If the use of LOV would give lots of drawbacks, then I should see the Enter_Query() Execute_Query() instead.
    BTW,
    I found the button Enter Query and Execute Query on the toolbar.
    (Seems that Oracle Form provides lots of help to simplify the programming)
    I have some sort of problems in using them :
    1. Well, they do the query and retrieve the records for a match query criteria.
    But it did not give any specific message if the record does not exist.
    The message bar (for unknown reason) is showing
    "Enter a query; press CTRL+F11 to execute, F4 to cancel."
    Can we change this behaviour?
    Perhaps, showing "No record(s) are retrieved for this query. Either change the query criteria; press CTRL+F11 to execute, F4 to cancel."
    2. I found the Count Hits from Query menu.
    Based on the documentation, the message line will show the records number returned based on query
    criteria, without actually retruning the records to the user.
    I am not sure whether this function has been removed for the Oracle Developer 10g (10.1.2), since
    there is nothing happen, and the message line keep showing
    "Enter a query; press CTRL+F11 to execute, F4 to cancel."
    Do we tho do some modification to the Forms to use Count Hits?
    3. I read on the documentation about Query Where dialog box.
    Query Where will be showed if user enter a colon ':' in a field in Enter Query mode for query criteria.
    Again, I am not sure whether this function has been removed too.
    the message line showed :
    FRM-40367: Invalid criteria in field <field_name> in example record.
    It happens if the criteria contains # or : or &
    Or is it done via another way?
    Any help would be grateful.
    Many thanks,
    Imelda.

  • Oracle Forms 6.0: Message file\ORANT\DBS\FMCUS.MSB not found

    Hi,
    I have a PC with oracle forms installed on it and recently the operating system was updated from win. 2000 to win. XP. After the update, a particular form could not run. It gave the following message: Message file\ORANT\DBS\FMCUS.MSB not found. What could be the likely course of this?

    Hi,
    That's because Forms6i has a 2nd edition for WinXP and you should apply patchset 13 at least for forms to work on WinXP.
    what's your forms version?????
    I don't know how would it react fors6i on upgraded OS from win2K to WinXP.

  • Oracle Spatial and Oracle Forms

    Hi,
    Does anyone have experience with Oracle Spatial and Oracle Forms?
    I have generated a form, which is based on a view. The view uses the mdsys.sdo_relate operator. Somehow I am unable to get the form to perform (to get one record it takes over 20 minutes). While useing sql-navigator to process the same statement it seems no problem. The query that also uses the view, is then processed in 10 seconds.
    I also noticed that when text-functions like ' lower' of ' upper' are used to query the view, the query is processed within 15 seconds. If I don't use ' lower' or ' upper' it takes a long time (> 20 minutes) to process the query. Is it possible that this causes the bad performance of the form?
    On metalink I have found that forms and spatial do not cooperate because of the pl/sql version that
    forms6 uses. There is no solution presented, does anyone know of a work around?
    My configuration is:
    Oracle 8.1.7 on WIN2K @ PIII-800Mhz 256 Mb memory.
    Formsbuilder 6
    If requested I can post the queries that I have made.

  • How to change the 'Default operating mode' of a mapping on the repository and not from the client

    Hi everybody,
    I am using OWB 11.2.0.3 and under the mapping's configuration property, I have the necessity to change the Run time parameter "Default operating mode" to SET_BASED in almost all my mappings.
    Because I have 745 mappings in which the Default operating mode is different from SET_BASED, instead to open 745 times the 'Configure' and update manually the value, is there a way to update safely these values (with an oracle predefined script) directly on the repository ?
    I know that exists a view called CMPSTRINGPROPERTYVALUE_V based on a table called CMPSCOPrpClasses, but changing this table it's very complicated for me because contains only keys and then I don't know in which way is connected with all the other structures....
    If somebody knows a method more efficient to do these updates on the repository and not from OWB client I will appreciated it!
    Thanks in advance
