Operations that can be performed in MOUNT and MOMOUNT state
Hello I need to understand this basic. I need to know what different type of operations can be performed in both MOUNT and NOMOUNT when one starts the database?

That depends on what Oracle does in both states :
- in NOMOUNT state the instance is started and the init file (pfile or spfile) is read, but no information are known yet about the database structure (which are within the controlfile). This is the situation, for example, of a new database creation. You can change initialization parameters, or re-create the controlfile, but no actions can be performed on the existing database.
- in MOUNT state the controlfile is read, and now the instance is aware of the database structure. You can do maintenance operations (e.g. changing from noarchivelog to archivelog and viceversa, making a full cold backup, changing datafiles location, and so on), but no user data can be read : to do this one the database must be OPENed.

When I sync my iphone 4S using iTunes it only syncs 8.5GB of music, not the entore library as specified. Is there a capcity default limit of the amount of storage that can be used for music and if so how do I change it?
The only limit is that of the device. No restrictions on how much of it you can use for music. Is part of your music library unchecked?

Does anyone know of an e-reader app for the iphone that has text to speech capability? I have a Kindle 3G that can read whole pdf documents and books but I cannot figure out how to do it on my iphone 4.
All of the apps I have found on the App store either do not have the text to speech capability or if they have it they will only read a page at a time or simply read the text you paste into their window. I really do not understand what is so difficult about having this feature as Kindle provides it--though Amazon does not make the feature available on its iPhone 4 app.
Please help.thanks. yes i am aware of the VoiceOver feature but it is NOT the solution to my problem. as you said, it is a solution to a different set of issues. i want the text to speech ability because i there are books i need to read but do not have the time to sit down and read them and have become used to listening to them read to me either by a professional human reader or with the text to speech software on the Kindle.
I think Apple makes the best audio devices but i am really disappointed in this inexplainable shortcoming. if apple can give us siri they ought to be able to design a nice little button that i can push to turn on text to speech while i am in a document, book, magazine or webpage. clearly it is possible as apple has added the "reader" button in safari to have web pages dropped into the reader format.

Is it possible to create a standard form that can be emailed to anyone and once filled out by the receiver, have a button that the receiver clicks and the form is encrypted and attached to an email back to the sender and a preset admin password would open it?

You would need to first create the form ( or Widget in EchoSign) first to generate a url which you can paste it in the email being sent to customers. You would need to make sure you have a Document Cloud Enterprise Premium account in order to create a Widget. If you don't have the account, you can use the trial version to test it. im making a photo slide show using imovie. how will i make a dvd copy that can play in both pc and dvd player. i dont have an idvd anymore. m using a mbp early 2011 osx 10.8.5.
after making the photo slide show, i clicked share>export movie. after which i burned using toast. the file became a .mov. i tried playing it in my mac and it worked. my fear now is will it also play in a regular dvd?... i read from google that mov files won't run in dvd players. what format should i convert it to so it'll play in a dvd player. can you suggest a faster way i can burn my projects for it takes me almost an hour to export. im going to make 28 slideshows for my kids in school. *=( if i need to do this process 28 times, i may not be able to finish it on time. please suggest a software or an alternative as to how i should do this... m more comfortable using imovie than iphoto. thanks and i hope to hear from someone soon *=jThank you QuickTimeKirk...used toast to burn project... my project was in .mov, i tried to play it a dvd player, it did play... will try again tomorrow using another dvd player just to be sure it'll will really work with dvd players. thank you again for your reply *=)

Can I use a select and update statement in a single jsp file?

After I Have added a transaction, I want to update the buy table. This is my problem, can I used both SELECT and UPDATE statement at the same time in a single jsp file for example like this:

Maximum ip routes that can be handled by isis and ospf
Hello All,
Is there any limitation on the number of ip routes that isis can handle? I was going through one of the documentations which mentioned that the limit is 30K routes. This is due to the max number of fragments ( 256 ) with each containing not more than 121 routes.?
Do the following commands help to change this number?
lsp-mtu
and clns-mtu
Has anyone seen any such limitation for OSPF ?

Hmm Qestion is quit logical, But what can I say is, believe me OSPF can handle lot of routes. It completly depends upon your Routers Processor and Memory.
In no I can say more than 6000 routes (reference https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/10496)
For OSPF not to suffer, we must follow some rules when we make areas, it is because it is a linkstate algorithm, below are the same

Factors Influencing OSPF Scalability
Scaling is determined by the utilization of three router resources: memory, CPU, and interface bandwidth. The workload that OSPF imposes on a router depends on these factors:
Number of adjacent neighbors for any one router: OSPF floods all link-state changes to all routers in an area. Routers with many neighbors have the most work to do when link-state changes occur. In general, any one router should have no more than 60 neighbors.
Number of adjacent routers in an area: OSPF uses a CPU-intensive algorithm. The number of calculations that must be performed given n link-state packets is proportional to n log n. As a result, the larger and more unstable the area, the greater the likelihood for performance problems associated with routing protocol recalculation. Generally, an area should have no more than 50 routers. Areas that suffer with unstable links should be smaller.
Number of areas supported by any one router: A router must run the link-state algorithm for each link-state change that occurs for every area in which the router resides. Every ABR is in at least two areas (the backbone and one adjacent area). In general, to maximize stability, one router should not be in more than three areas.
Designated router (DR) selection: In general, the DR and backup designated router (BDR) on a multiaccess link (for example, Ethernet) have the most OSPF work to do. It is a good idea to select routers that are not already heavily loaded with CPU-intensive activities to be the DR and BDR. In addition, it is generally not a good idea to select the same router to be the DR on many multiaccess links simultaneously.

Last night I tried to save an iMovie project that was a little over 5 minutes long, minimal transistions, moderate effects, minimal text, and some pictures and music. I have been attempting to export it at 1080p to a folder on my HD but I keep getting the heap zone error. What I don't get is a week ago I was able to export a very similar project about 4 and half minutes with no problem.
The basic specs of my Macbook Air (mid 2011 model, 11-inch running OS X 10.7) are: 120GB solid state hard drive, 4 GB of RAM, and a 1.6 GHz Intel core i5 processor. I currently have available around 13GB of storage left on the main drive, and I have an external connected (paired with Time Machine). Now, I have been researching this problem all last night and all this morning and several of the known "solutions" have not worked for me. Looking in my Activity Monitor it seems whenever I try to export this project through iMovie, the "Free" RAM just progressively drops until it hits about 450MB of RAM and then I get the heap zone error message. and while I have been able to free up about 2.5Gb of RAM prior to exporting the project, it still manages to eat up all but 400-500Mb and then gives me the error. I'm pretty lost at what to do. Here's what I've tried so far:
- First instinct, restarted the computer
- Closed out most of my usually running programs
- Used the "Purge" command in terminal to free up 'Inactive' RAM (though it only free'd up a little bit, it always stops at 400Mb)
- Downlaoded a Cache Cleaner and did a 'medium' cleaning of local and system cache
- Turned off Time Machine
- Tried saving to my external drive instead of the main one (so obviously it's not a storage issue)
- Eliminated the use of special characters from the title
- Closed all processes in the Activity Monitor that weren't vital or being run by the system
None of those worked and I consistently got the heap zone error at the same point, about 1/10 of the way through in 'Preparing Project' Is there any other solutions to this problem? Preferrably ones that don't involve, deleting significant files or items from my drive, re-installing the OS, or any other drastic system changes because afterall my system hasn't drastically changed in the past week that iMovie WAS working so this has to be a simple fix.
I'm really just getting annoyed and fed up with this so PLEASE someone have the right answer.Hi
This is a complex Error - so this is the notes I've got - so far
Error -108 memFullErr Ran out of memory [not enough room in heap zone]
Turn off - TimeMachine usually works - re-try.
(the Application down in the Dock - not the Device)
But this can mean many thing's - My first thought is
• Free Space on Start-Up hard disk. How much ? (other disks do not count)

Are your event clips in h.264? If so, you can solve this by Right clicking on your Event Name and choose "Optimize Media". You can choose Full for 1080P or Large for 960P according to your preference.
After you have optimized your Event, you should be able to Share with no problem.

Try restarting the computer just prior to sharing. That frees up RAM.

Final Entry
Ok - after much cutting, trial and error and days of work I have never really established a root cause for the -108 error. Nothing I did resolved the issue to the orginal project.
The only work around I have found is to split the Original Project into two.
What I found was that anything around the 60 mins mark and above just failed to render in HD and showed the -108 error.
What worked for me was creating two project files - one around 57mins long - the other a part 2 - around 17 mins long. All using exactly the same source clips, photo's, music and transitions as the orginal.
This now works. I guess having it split in two makes it a little easier to work with as I wont have to keep rendering the first part which does not change but really wish Apple would throw some light on this.
Anyway - I hope all of the above at least proves useful for others.

Last night as I was working on a term paper my wife called for my help, I made the mistake of not putting my MacBook Pro up where are four-year-old could not get to it. While I was assisting my wife or daughter somehow managed to get to the reset and reset my MacBook Pro. Now I have worked several years in IT in the Microsoft Windows environment and I know there's all kinds of software tools to recover previous installations of Microsoft products, is there such a tool for Apple Macintosh. If there is, can please somebody tell me the name of the recovery software? I really need to recover the lost files!
Unfortunately OSX doesn't have such good tools like System Restore, etc. If you don't have a TimeMachine backup or another backup of any kind, you're kind of lost. Did you just lose personal files or did you lose everything (apps, etc.). I guess what I'm asking is... I can't exactly tell what your daughter did without you providing more info. Is it possible that she deleted your entire profile? If you've worked in IT for so long, you should be able to provide a more detailed description of the actual problem. What was changed?... You should be able to tell that without asking her.

Good luck and btw I hope you have a good backup, if you do use Setup Assistant to restore so you can pick up from where you left off. You should use Pondini's Snow Leopard Setup Assistant tips it will show exactly what needs to be done. If the Apple people are going to install SL for you make sure you give them your backup so they can restore for you. -

I hope this hasn't been asked before, but I really need to figure out how to do this. We take forms in Word, convert them using the wizard, and then the only way I can figure how to make them fill in able and then saveable is to distribute through email. This won't work for me, I need to put them on a website so they don't rely on me to get the forms.
Any help is appreciated. Here is a link to a state work site here in washington that has exactly what I need. if that help to clarify what I'm talking about.

I have recently gone through this same experience.
The first thing is to set the security.
Go to Advanced/Security/2 Encrypt with password. On this page go to Permissions and click on Restrict editing.
You will need to add a password, choose the printing allowed, and changes allowed - this is where you allow the form
to be filled out.
When you have finished these steps, click ok.
Then from the Advaned menu choose "Extend Features in Adobe Reader". You will see what access the user has to the form.
Your form should be ready to email or add to a website as a pdf form.
