hey guys im almost finished designing my hosting website,
however i do think the navigation menu is a little bit to light?
Anyhow i would appreciate any feedback so i can make any changes

Is this due to my Hosting Plan? Appreciate any answers.

Your site is a CCM site which is on a WebBasics plan (This plan does not provide hosted emails on Business Catalyst).
If you want to create email addresses on this site, you would need to setup your email server elsewhere and configure the MX records on your site to point to that external mail server.
If you want to use Business Catalyst's hosted email services you would need to use a WebBasics+ or higher siteplan. To upgrade your CCM free site, Access your site's admin area -> Site Management -> Upgrade Now -> choose the desired site plan and billing frequency -> Add personal and credit card details -> Submit.

Cannot get sharp thumbnails for my ecommerce website

i have i think tried everything to get sharp thumbnail pictures for my website but to no avail this is what i do :after working in raw (no sharpening) i then put my picture on a grey background size is 1804x2560 then go to image size put in 72 for res and bicubic sharpener it then takes it down to 541x768 then save for web 32.1k jpeg medium and optimised quality 70-90 then upload to web but still not sharp, when you click on the thumbnail to get a bigger picture its sharp. i have also tried save as and put in quality 9 with no success. i had the website designed for me and you cannot load a seperate thumbnail.
fashion pics taken in raw canon 20d and work in adobe cs3

thanks Ed for your reply yes the 541x768 is sharp but as soon as i downsize they are not i have tried other computers different pixels and aspect ratios, should of said its a hosted website and i have told them but its up to me to upload the pictures, so in your opinion am i doing everything by the book to produce sharp thumbnails? because i cannot think of what else i can do

Your images are definitely over-compressed. The mistake you're making is saving at quality 50. Save your images at a figure between 75 and 90. I personally wouldn't save anything at a quality less than 100 unless a reduced file size is of dire importance.
but i am saving them at 75-90 still no difference

Well that's the question - how do I create an email list sign up form for my iWeb website?
Could someone tell me what's the simplest way using iWeb to create an interactive option
for users to enter their email address and the info be forwarded to me so I can add to an
email list?
It would be great if, since I'm using a Mac computer & iWeb, there was a way to have the
submitted emails automatically added to a group in my Mac Addressbook.
I got this MacBook Pro in Sept 2010 so I believe that's iWeb '08 I'm using.
Anyway I'm thinking there should be a way to do this with some system involving an HTMK
Widget and an email account.
By the way this is for hosting through a 'real server', not MobileMe (which I plan to get later
when I can afford it).
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Website forms require some code in a snippet and a formmail.php script on the server to process the form and send the info to the required email address. You can do all this when you switch to a "real" server.
In the meantime you can use a form or marketing service or, better still, an application like MailShoot which generates the form, handles the database and sends out the bulk emails.

How to replace .mac account with iCloud for web hosting?

I have a website that I created on MS Frontpage and have been uploading that to my .mac account for years. Eventually I'll probably change to iWeb, but for the time being I just want to make it active again. With iCloud, my .mac account was deleted, and I am just now getting around to updating. The question I have is whether or not this same funcationality exists now that .mac or mobileme is no longer around.

Has any one tried 1&1 Internet Linux hosting package?

Sure, no worries.
In a production environment DNS will query always the first record it will stores in cache, you need to find a dynamic or NLB way to achieve the automatic fail over else when you will have an outage with the first IP, then you need to ask your clients to
clear the cache and register to DNS again, this i will not suggest in a production environment, lots of manual efforts and doesnt sound like a solution in a production environment, i would suggest you to explore windows NLB, it's easy to set and use the OS
license.

Cisco ASA and Internal Hosted Website

I have a Cisco ASA 8.4. I have an internal website for an application that they use both internal and externally (app.domain.com/app is 10.0.0.3) The company that hosts their External Website and DNS created a record that points to http://app.domain.com/app to their public ip 1.2.3.4. Externally everything works great I have port forward for 80 working. The problem is that when the users bring their laptops in to the office they are unable to get to the interanlly hosted website. I think the the firewall is having an issue letting the traffic back in. If i use the internal DNS and create a zone for domain.com with an A record for app.domain.com and point it to 10.0.0.3 the internal address..it works. Of course when they try to access the external website it does not work. So if create an A record that points to the web hosts address, it kinda of works...parts of the website don't come up. I really think I there is something like a hairpin or u-turn that needs to be done. Oh by the way this is my first real experince with an ASA. The Symantec Gateway they had worked great. I looked in the config and there were no hairpin or crazy rules, just the standard port forward for 80. Any ideas? I have tried several suggestions i found on the web, but none have worked.

Hi,
The main problem with such setup (from the ASAs perspective) is usually that the NAT for the server is configured from certain source interface towards some destination interface.
You might for example have this configuration
object network WEB-SERVER
host 10.0.0.3
nat (inside,outside) static interface service 80 80
This would enable connectivity from the behind "outside" interface towards which the translation is configured but not from behind "inside".
I am not sure how different vendor firewalls handle this situation if you say that you only had the original Static PAT configuration towards the external interface.
If you wanted to enable connectivity to the public IP address from your LAN you would have to make a NAT towards the "inside" interface from the "inside" interface. And thats not all. You would also have to configure Dynamic PAT for the source hosts on the LAN behind "inside". The reason for this is that the ASA needs to see the whole TCP conversation between the client/server and since we PAT all the users to the ASA "inside" interface IP address that makes sure that ASA sees the whole conversation between the hosts.
So you could try this configuration on the ASA
object network PUBLIC-IP
host
object network WEB-SERVER
host 10.0.0.3
object network LAN
subnet
nat (inside,inside) 1 source dynamic LAN interface destination static PUBLIC-IP WEB-SERVER
The above configuration would essentially look for connections coming from behind "inside" interface from the source address belonging to LAN to the destination IP address of PUBLIC-IP and proceed to UN-NAT the PUBLIC-IP to WEB-SERVER and PAT the source address to "interface" (inside interface IP address)
You would also perhaps needs to add this command
same-security-traffic permit intra-interface
This enabled the ASA to pass traffic through the same interface that the traffic arrived in. So basically do that Hairpin/U-turn
You can check the current configuration with the command
show run same-security-traffic
Do notice that there is a similiar command with a different parameter at the end (inter-interface vs. intra-interface). So check that you have the correct one.

we want to be able to let web clients know when they are leaving our hosted websites for other linked pages via a disclaimer. is there a Cisco product that will detect when a client is leaving one of our hosted web sites/applications and either give the user a pop up or a web redirect to a disclaimer letting them know that they are going to an outside entity web site?

Not that I know of off hand. Why not have your developer write a small app and keep a database of external links they want to create. Then link to http://www.yoursite.com/redirect.php?id=SomeString and then on the redirect page have it say "You're leaving our site...click here to continue or go back" or whatever you want it to say.
Cost effective and not that hard to do.

If you're asking about an FTP client there are several very good FTP clients. YummyFTP and Transmit are two commercial clients that provide two finder like windows of your local website folder and the online site folder. That makes it very easy to drag and drop or do automatic syncs.
Cyberduck is a free FTP client and provides a Finder like window to the online folder. You can open the local Finder window for the web site for dropping and dragging. It will also do an automatic sync.
As for hosting sites IMO the two best are HostExcellence.com and ixwebhosting. They are owned by the same company and operate essentially the same. The only difference is that HostExcellence has a free customer support phone line for customers outside the US. Both offer excellent ear to ear customer support.

What Mac OS X 10.8.2 DNS do I use for my server setup with thru their business? They have asked me this question. Or do I use their default servers as they suggest?

It's not entirely clear what you're asking. Are you asking what data you have to provide to your domain registrar? Or are you asking for some configuration data for your machine?
Are you planning/hoping to use your Mac OS X Server as the authoritative DNS server for your domain? (this is usually a bad idea unless you really know what you're doing).
If you're setting up the remote domain on your registrar's servers then there's nothing you need to do for your machine. For simplicity's sake you don't need to do any DNS for your domain on your own server - let the service provider do that. If you want to setup your domain internally as well, then I'd recommend disconnecting your public records (hosted by your service provider) from your private ones (running on your own machine) since you will likely want to hide your internal network addresses from the public.

Apache : no access permission for my personal website

Hallo,
when I enable Personal File sharing (Apache) I can access the page at my local address but not the subpage with my user name (personal website):
"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /~martini/ on this server.
Apache/1.3.33 Server at myemac.local Port 80"
Previously it was working.
I think the problem came when I changed the name of the user or the computer.
Can anyone tell me how to get back this permission ?

"DNS ERROR resolving MYEMAC.local
It is suggested that the hostname be resolveable via DNS
Change hostname [Yes] yes
Please enter the logical hostname for this host [MYEMAC.local] "
So I suppose in effect I am asking what is the logical hostname ?

Looking for a photo website

Hi, I am creating a slideshow for my classroom and want to create an album for each parent to download their photos to. The features I am looking for is that the website be:
1. Free
2. Viewable only to myself and the parent uploading their photo's. I should have about 20 different albums - one for each parent. ( I don't want everyone seeing everyone's photo until the end of the year - I want the photos in the slideshow to be "new" to the parents.)
3. Easy to use
4. Photos easily uploaded for the parents and easily downloaded by me.
