Opinion  on my website

Hello,
I just finished my eCommerce hosting website....can you
please give me your opinion on the website...because I'm thinking
of changing the logo and the navigation to royal blue. Let me know
if there are any changes that need to be done(please be honest)
thanks!
The website url is
http://www.hostlyon.com

Overall the design is clean and effective. I would put down
how many databases you are offering though on the web hosting page.
Only thing I can't believe is that you are still offering PHP4 and
not 5 (being that all support for PHP4 is discontinued). Also you
have a link to a CPanel demo login, but no login
information.

  • Please Give me your opinion on my website

Ok first off let me say I am not a professional and am doing
our webpage on a real low budget because we are a non-profit. I am
still learning how to use Dreamweaver, but I would love an honest
opinion about how I am doing. As of now I have a good start on the
About us section and am slowly working into the others. I just want
some feedback from some of you about how it looks.
Thanks in advance for any advice and/or tips you may have.

  • U160: Need help finding one and your opinion. Hardware update coming soon?

I really want to pick up an Ideapad u160 after playing around with a x120e for the last week. But, in the US it is nearly impossible to find one.
Lenovo does offer the Core i3 version for $750 (a bit over priced in my opinion) from the website, but only in brown. I would love to get a black on with an i5 or i7.
The only place I could find them was on eBay and that was a refurbished one: http://cgi.ebay.com/LENOVO-Ideapad-U160-12-500GB-4GB-BT-i7-640UM-Ultrathin-/270778848252?pt=Laptops_...
How are Lenovo's refurbished laptops? And I am guessing the u160 would be a huge bump in performance from the x120e.
Finally, there has been no talk of a refresh for the u160 line right? I would hate to buy one and then be left with the old modle.
    Thanks!

You don't want to reset all settings .... You have to totally restore the iPad to factory settings which erases the device. After you restore the iPad, you can sync your content back onto the iPad from your iTunes library.
Read this to see what I am talking about. This article talks about the iPhone, but it works the same way with an iPad or an iPod Touch.
    http://www.maclife.com/article/howtos/how_recover_your_restrictions_password
Do you sync with iTunes on a regular basis? If yo don't, you can download past purchases as long as you use the same Apple ID that you originally bought the content with and as long as the content is still available in the stores (iTunes, the App Store or the iBooks Store).
When you restore the iPad to factory settings, your son's game progress will be lost as well, so keep that in mind. All app data and settings will be erased when you restore as a new device.
This discussion has some helpful tips on how to save some of the iPad content before you restore as new.

  • Where can I find an email address for Verizon customer service?

I would like to send an email to Verizon outlining my opinion of their website and how it might be improved, but I can't find an email address.  When I asked the representative, she directed me to the "Contact Us" tab.  There I found a postal address!

There is no email address only a postal address.  You can try to call CS, but they have no idea what the website does or is, or how to push opinions or concerns up the line.  If you go a regional executive route, you might get a call, but they are not familiar with website operations or even know who to send your issue to.  Perhaps one of your improvement ideas is something we can assist you with, in case it was something missed or we know another way to accomplish what it is you're trying to do.

  • Where is the FiOS Outage Map?

Does FiOS have an online outage map?
If they do, it isn't easy to find.
If not, they need one. I highly recommend something like:
    http://www.pepco.com/home/emergency/maps/stormcenter/
It is very frustrating not knowing if the service is out, or just my house.
And it is insulting, my opinion, that FiOS website simply says "Verizon is working to restore your service" and then says that is "Everything you need to know."
What I 'need to know' is how widespread is the outage and when is my estimated restoral time.
    Again Verizon, very frustrating.

To my knowledge, Verizon FiOS does not offer an outage map. It has been repeatedly suggested. The only link they send you to is the verizon.com/outage page that will send you through the troubleshooter. But from the information you provided in your question, that's the page you've already been to. If the troubleshooter does not provide you with any assistance, you can always try 1(800)VERIZON, or chat, or twitter. But unless it's a large and long outage, their CSRs are often "in the dark" about it as well. Which would lead me to believe they do not have an internal outage map either.

  • What's your opinion on the search function on the NI website?

    Hi all NI web goers:
I give 1.5 of 5 stars to NI's search function. Most of the times I got very frustrated when searhing NI's website. It returns a lot of entries for my search, but either none of them are relevant, or there are about 10 duplicate links to the same page, and multiply that by the # of unique links you get, well, you get the idea.
So, what's your opinion on the search function offered by the NI website?
    -Joe

Not sure what this has to do with LabVIEW. I suspect the Feedback on NI Discussion Forums might be as good as place as any. This has been brought up before:

  • Your opinion - suggestions about my website

I have published my website http://www.pcnetworks.gr (κατασκευή και φιλοξενία ιστοσελίδων) and I would apreciate your opinion and suggestions about the design of it and any ideas on how to make it more attractive. Thank you in advance

    pcnw,
You might elaborate on the present use of colours, particularly the triple colours used on the first page at the top and at the bottom for the three levels, and also used elsewhere. In this connexion, you might consider designating a colour to each level and use that in the further pages, where the red appears for all as it is now, and to have a fourth general colour for other aspects/purposes.
The (final) colours chosen could reflect and give an impression of the levels: what they offer and what they require.

  • Opinion For my hosting website

hey guys im almost finished designing my hosting website,
however i do think the navigation menu is a little bit to light?
Anyhow i would appreciate any feedback so i can make any changes
    thanks!!

    Hello,
There are quite a few typos in your TOS page.
    Incase, you responsibility, etc.
    And on your support page:
for you web hosting, supirior customer support,
    collaberating, Mercahnt
    account, etc...
A number on the FAQ page as well.
Our network where built, cPane has to offer you! , If there
    is a questions
Sorry if it looks like nitpicking, but I think some people
    really may be put
    off by that.
Do you maintain your own servers? If so, you might want to
    put in a page on
    that technical info.
If it's reseller, like for hostgator, disregard.
Also, just out of curiosity, is it hostly on, or host lyon
    (like lion)?
    Take care,

  • What's Your Opinion of Flash Use On a Corporate Website?

I was pretty much up to speed using Flash between the years 2001 and 2004. In 2003, I majored in video production and got out of step with the newer versions of Flash.  I've always liked Flash because to me it provides a more straight-forward visual workflow and flexibility.  I look at companies like 2advanced, who use a lot of Flash and wonder what they are thinking.  One article I found on the Net suggests that Apple's opposition to Flash is based upon lost revenues. They see the Flash *.flv/*.f4v video format as direct competition and a threat to iTunes and QuickTime. Other articles suggest that Flash is unstable and causes problems.  Personally, I can't remember ever having a problem with Flash website content other than problems related to the Flash designer using "heavy" content that takes too long to load. I launched my company's new website two weeks ago. It will be continually updated. I'm considering either buying a Project Seven image presentation product or designing the "portfolio" segment of my site in Flash. If I do it in Flash, I know that people won't be able to see it on the iPhone or iPad. Also I was told that some corporate networks disable Flash content.  Do you think that Apple has the power to kill Flash with their popular products, the iPhone and iPad?

I thought this would be an interesting development to follow and see how Apple responds:
Skyfire promises Flash video playback on its iPhone app

  • Open another website in a new browser window

I can't seem to create links to external websites that open
as intended in a new browser window while leaving the main browser
window unchanged. Except in Safari on a Mac. See sample code.
In Safari on a Mac this opens the new window and behaves as I
want. In Safari on a PC it opens a new window, but in back. In
Firefox on Mac I get an error message in which, when the "OK"
button is cliked on, a new window opens in back of the main window.
Same thing on a PC. Internet Explorer on a PC opens a new window
but displays an error message forcing you to clik the back button
to return to the main page.
If I specify the main page url in the link field, then the
main page gets reset to the top, which I don't want.
How can I get FireFox and IE to accomplish this gracefully?
    To observe behavior go to
    http://www.digifon.com/framesetal_id.htm

Don't use Frames. However, the issue of opening a new window
    is still
hotly debated. My own approach is to mark the link with an
    icon and
then to open a new window (or tab if the user prefers). If
    done
properly with javascript, this will not spawn a myriad of
    windows and
Standards-compliant. (And further, if javascript is off, the
    new page
will simply open in the current window.)
Based on this philosophy, I offer a DW Extension that makes
    adding this
behavior dead simple. Here is an example of a page that uses
    it to good
advantage. Despite all the external links and pdf links on
    the page,
the Extension only needed to be added once to the page,
    rather than
adding it to each and every link. Links added to the page
    AFTER the
Extension is applied are ALSO acted on, a great time saver in
    my
opinion, and easy on the user:

  • Multiple Websites using iWeb

I currently created one website through iweb. www.michelemcloughlin.com
I now want to create multiple websites for clients, friends etc. Is it possible to do this? I have iLife 08, what would be the best way to do this?
    help!!!

    MicheleMc08 wrote:
Do you think its easier to buy ilife 09 and not need to go through this process of individual folders?
Michele ~ I think it's better to keep sites for different clients and friends each in their own iWeb Domain file — but that's just a personal opinion and others may differ.
Also, I have a mac account, if I were to design another website for a client do they need to buy hosting as well in addition to their domain name?
As above, I think it's better for clients and friends each to have their own hosting and domain name — although it's not necessary. Perhaps it wouldn't be inconvenient for you to have a close friend's site hosted on your MobileMe account. Also, there are some restrictions regarding setting up multiple domain names to a single MobileMe account — read more here:
    http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWeb_Domains.html
With iLife 09 is the back up necessary.
Backups are always necessary — your Mac's internal HD could crash at any moment. Do you have a plan for when that happens? ...There are only two types of HD: Those that have crashed and those that haven't — yet:
    http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper
    http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html
    http://www.corecode.at/smartreporter
This back up.. can I copy this domain file and put it on an external hard drive?
    Yes.

  • I have never been more frustrated with a website than this one.

This website is utterly the worst labrynth of crap I have ever ever in my entire history of working with the internet have experienced.  Who designed this site? a monkey? THE WORST! THE WORST! THE WORST!  man, I am so angry and frustrated.  This is unbelievable.
Lets make a list shall we:
First apparently I am available for an upgrade.  So I click on upgrade my phone which I guess is what I am to do.  I don't see why I can't just see a list of phones with the corresponding discounts etc. Nope instead I get a pre menu with a picture of my phone and a icon to press upgrade your phone. Wouldn't the designers think that maybe some people might get a little confused.  There is a picture of my phone and it says upgrade your phone.  Why not be clear? "This is the phone you have" then put "click here to see what upgrades are available to you."  I know Im not the smartest guy in the planet but geez the webdesigners were perhaps too familiar with their own site and didn't put it together for the laymen.
So then I go to the site and guess what? There are no discounts shown, there are no upgrades readily availble for me to see. Instead is a list of phones for full price.  Is that the upgrade I am availble for? A phone for full price? This is absurd.
You would think that a multi-billion dollar corporation that has made its money on being the leader of wireless technology WOULD FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO A WEBSITE THAT A USER COULD USE!
Oh and then wanting to email someone about my experience.  Nope cant just contact through email. You have to put a preselected question for your email that just takes you right back to the FAQs.  Wow! that is convenient!!!.  To actually contact someone you have to put your stupid complaint on a forum but in order to do that you have to go through the complete hassel of logging in AGAIN, then I need to put some stupid code in from my email.  Do you guys just make it difficult so that people will just give up and not complain?  That doesn't seem like good customer service to me.  Sticking your fingers in your ears screaming lalalalala via making it too complicated and time consuming so that customers don't have a voice is no way to help customers.
And then trying to add a comment on the "suggestions thread" there are no options to post a comment on that one.  You guys sure seem like you know what your doing.  Maybe you can hire my mother who can barely send an email to design your site, she might do a better job.
So I guess my suggestion is to fire the webdesigner and put together a more cohesive, effecient website please.

Im on firefox. Another poster told me how to email - it wasn't straight forward for me - which in my opinion should be.  This site is organized really badly, in my opinion.  Like I stated before this is Verizon wireless - this site should be hands down one of the best out there - instead its clunky and redundant.   I want a ferrari and they are giving me a 1982 rusted out pontiac - yeah it works but not that well.
As for the upgrades and pricing - shouldn't that be something that is on the site.  I am available for an upgrade and if I want to order a phone I should be able to see how much its going to cost me. And if Im not mistaken they used to do that.  To me, just doesn't make any sense to not include the pricing.  Doesn't that seem ineffecient? "your available for an upgrade - check our site for your upgrades - oh we don't have the prices that it will cost you - you have to call in.
And what doe "new for every 2" actually mean?  They don't really explain that.  Do I get a brand new phone of my choosing for free? Catchy slogans don't necessarily inform the customers and thats whats a little disappointing to me.
    Sorry for my blather.

  • Can a website created in Dreamweaver 5.5 be maintained with Contribute 6.5?

I have a client who I have advised to purchase Contribute to maintain the website I created for her. When I go to Adobe I see version 6.5. Would she be able to use this newer version to make her updates even if i created the website and all its editable regions in Adobe Dreamweaver 5.5?

You will get a better answer if you ask this question in Contribute Forum at this link:
    <http://forums.adobe.com/community/contribute?view=discussions>
You need to ask them whether Contribute can interpret HTML and CSS codes correctly and whether editing of these codes is easier to do in Contribute or some other HTML editors.
My personal opinion is that people should use dedicated HTML/CSS editors to edit web pages but my knowledge of contribute is almost ZERO.
I didn't want to touch this question but nobody was answering either so I decided to write something.

  • Should I use a Webservice for my website for commonly used functoins between 2 web projects(WebApp and WebService)?

I have a ASP.net web application that currently generates various Crystal Reports. The coding for those reports are in about 2-3 modules.  I have been presented with the task of having to generate the same reports from a new web service.  All sites
are hosted on my own IIS server, which I manage.  As far as I see it I have 2 options.
    1. Migrate the functions and reports needed for my reports into a WebService aka "MyReportEngine".  This "Engine could then be accessed by both my website and the other web service.  I would then no code duplication overhead.
    2. Copy report code to the 2nd web service.  IN this case, if I ever made a change to a function in 1 project I would need to make the same change in the web service.
Option 2 doesn't seem very efficient to me...
If someone has another opinion or idea I would love to hear their thoughts.
All of these web services would only be accessed by my website. They are not intended for public usage.
    Thank you in advance.
