Opinions appreciated - new vs. current production

Hello all,
I'm a soon to be new Mac user, I was bit by the Mac bug late 2005 when a co-worker had is 17" Powerbook at work. Since then I have been reading/watching hardware, news, getting educated, visiting my local Apple store, etc.....
Now ---- I'm financially ready for a 15" MBP. But since I don't know Apple the way many of you do, I was wondering if you can share your experiences, on the following -------
Is it best to buy hardware that is in production and got any bugs worked out, or safe to buy something new. Say if the MBP may be re-designed with new hardware in the next few months, would that be a safe bet or better with the current MBP production.
Also software ---- how is new software, better to use what is currently out, are there growing pains ?
I'm hope this does not get sensored, as I will buy hardware no matter what, but just wondering what the safest route is - best to buy what is currently out or safe to wait and get the latest.
I'm not in dire need for a notebook today, I can easily wait a few more months if many feel it's safe to get the latest technology.

With any hardware you buy at anytime, there is a risk you might get a lemon, but the risk is so small, that you likely won't. Given the fact that notebooks do have a tendency to break down more often I recommend at least getting AppleCare before your year is out, and don't wait till the the 11th month to get it either as it may not process in time. Contrary to popular belief there is no more risk from a Rev A than there is from the end of a line at getting a problem. I've had both. This board is primarily a problem solving board, so you will get a bias towards to the people who have had problems. Those who haven't rarely post.
Another truth about buying Macs, is that no Mac has thus far come with the ability to boot an older operating system than the discs which came with it. Thus if you wait until Leopard is released, you'll wait until the software has caught up with Leopard compatibility. Tiger having been out now for a year and a half you'll find the majority of good Mac titles as Tiger compatible. Even better, you'll find quite a few titles support Universal, which means they are fully native to the MacBook Pro. Rosetta titles aren't as much, and Mac OS 9 titles won't work at all. Hello there,
I have a question on changing current SID name to new SID name. We are planning on moving our current production hardware to new better hardware and change the PRD(old) to PRD(new). Is anyone out there (customers) who had done this before, and what would be the ramifications? I know we have to run BDLS in order to change current logical systems to new logical systems. Are there any issues in doing so in Production system? Any input is appreciated.

you can do that easily just by installing SAP system on new hardware and then restoring this backup to new system,that should not be an issue,it is just like doing system copy
but
SAP has strongly recommended not to run BDLS conversions on Production systems database,so I would suggest you to first approach SAP,raise a message with them and ask their recommendations

Suggestions for how I can get the new purchases currently trapped on my iPod transferred to iTunes?

I recently bought an iPod touch and had no trouble loading all the existing music I have in iTunes to my new iPod. The problem is that no matter what I try I cannot transfer purchases I made on the new iPod into iTunes. Every time I try, "Transfer Purchases" is greyed out. As a result the seven tracks that I bought on the iPod are trapped on the device. I can't get them into iTunes. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can get the seven new purchases currently trapped on my iPod transferred to iTunes?
I've tried suggestions from multiple support forums, and nothing has worked. Does anyone know why "Transfer Purchases" would be greyed out and how I can fix it so I can get the music purchases from the device to the computer. Before anyone asks, this has not happened with any other Apple device I have owned, including my iPhone 4 8GB, iPod Touch 2nd Gen 32GB, iPad 1st Gen 64GB, and iPad 2 64GB. Why is it suddenly happening now?
My new iPod is an iPod Touch 5th generation 64GB using iOS 7.1.2, and iTunes is version 11.

I want to migrate Analysis Services 2008 database to 2012 AS database along with data level security defined in current production cube
Note: Only Production environment have security, while no security is defined in development environment
Potential Approach:
1 - Using Synchronization Wizard: Gives me error : "The OLAP element at line1 can not appear under envelope......" and this is because Synchrinzation works only for same version
and in my case, there are different versions of SQL (SQL 2008 and 2012)
2 - Using Visual studio conversion wizard - Convert SQL 2008 AS project to 2012 and then process cube, so I can get the cube working but then how can I get data level security since 100's of data level security is defined in production Cube, so how can I
migrate that across
3 - Script out XMLA and deploy cube - But then again having issues with how can i script SSAS security
4 - Would taking backup of SSAS 2008 database and restore to SSAS 2012 will help ?
Any suggestions would be appreciated

According to your description, you want to migrate the SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) 2008 database which have some security setting with it to SSAS 2012, right? We can migrate existing Analysis Services databases either during Setup, by upgrading an
existing instance of Analysis Services, or after Setup, by running the Migration Wizard. Generally, when migrating a database to another server, all the setting will be migrated. So in your scenario, you can refer to the steps on the links below to migrate

Adding new column in production order component overview

Please let me know any enhancement or badi available to add a new column to production order component list. There is a business requirement to display the fixed bin in component list.

Check the MRP parameter 'Individual/Coll' in MRP4 view for the components. This should be set as 2 for collective planning. If this flag is left blank then planning will be based on the parent material (If the parent material is planned for special stock then the components will also be planned for special stock)

I am assuming a CRM E-Commerce scenario for my help here.

You must start from defining the new Attribute in an exisiting or new Set Type. Use transaction code COMM_ATTRSET. Once you have the attribute / attribute set defined, you can assign this to your catalog - in the header data as the Basic characteristic List.
to display product's new attribute on product catalog screen
See catalog/ProductDetailISA.jsp for tips - search for catalog.isa.attribute. The catalog item WebCatItem has all the details available already.

If you want to show the details of attributes in the catalog page - say - catalog/ProductsISA.jsp, the instance of WebCatItem is already available. In this page look for

Logical standby issue after adding a new user at production db server

I am facing a issue related to logical standby db server where after adding a new user at production db server logical standby has stopped sql apply. Can anybody give some idea to find out the root cause and give some tips to resolve the issue.

The issue you are experiencing is with installing the latest iTunes update. I recommend following the steps below:
Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
I understand that you have already uninstalled iTunes, but when you get to this step, it is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the link for that step.

Transporting new developments in Production

Hello Experts,
I have made some new developments in an ODS that is already transported to production. The ODS is loaded with data and delta running daily on it in the production system.
Now my question is what steps (in proper sequence) should i follow to transport this new development to production , so that it will not effect the data and delta.
Please reply the steps.

1] New info objects if any.
2] Targets(ODS)
3] Infosource, CS, TR, UR, TS and infopackages..
All are with overwrite mode..

Assigning points is the way to say thanks.
New changes in the data target by addition of new objects doesnt cause any issue.. but if u are removing any existing object from ODS then u need to drop the data from target system before the import happens...
