Opinions On Fast DVD Copy 4 Software

Folks. Has anyone used Fast DVD Copy 4 software to make copies of movies, DVDs, etc? Does it make good copies that are as good as originals? How about compression? People I have talked to say that PC versions of DVD copy software are supposed to be superior, so I want to find out if this is the best Mac software for this purpose. thanks

I don't know too much about Fast DVD Copy 4, but I use Toast Titanium 7 and have found that it works really well. The DVD copies I have made have been hard for me to tell the difference between the original and copy. Quality is excellent.
Hope that was some help.

  • Best DVD copying software

I want to find the best software for copying DVDs on my MAC. I have tried WonderShare DVD Copy which is very good, but will not compress DVD-9 movies onto DVD-5 media.
An alternative is 4Media DVD copy which does support this compression, but won't allow a proper copy without first buying, so i can't really compare the quality without paying for it first.
Does anybody know any other alternatives or can recommend what the best software is?

In the same price range as what your looking at , Toast is good

  • DVD copy software

    hey all !
ready to purchase software but not sure which
    Roxio Popcorn 2
    or Roxio Popcorn 1
or any that are GOOD !
just want to back up movies ,software, ps2 games ect.
i have kids and have already lost movies, games ect.
ive asked before but now i have money in hand and i am ready.
    any advice would be great
    thanks

    Hello,
    You should consider something first:
In the United States, 99% of commercial DVD movies are copy protected. And, our Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) makes it illegal to circumvent copy protection (even for personal uses). So, that makes backing-up those movies illegal.
In compliance with the law that forbids producing, or distributing (or even possessing) a program that circumvents copy-protection, Roxio's program does not backup Copy-Protected movies.
If you notice in their specs here:
    http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/popcorn/standard/features.html
They say "Copy non-encrypted DVDs,* disc images or valid VIDEO_TS folders".
"Non-encrypted" means not Copy Protected. This means that if the disk is copy protected, that you'll be unable to copy it with this program. So, if you are buying it with the intention of backing-up your movie collection, then you'll be wasting your money.
You can read a Mac World review of the Roxio Toast and Popcorn where they discuss this limitation here:
    http://www.macworld.com/2006/04/firstlooks/popcorn/index.php
There are free programs like Mac The Ripper that will do this with a great success rate. But, their legal use is very questionable.
    I hope this helps.

  • What is the best DVD copy software

Not according to the people I have rented from because I asked them.  They provided me with a suggestion I simply thought I would get another opinion.
I am not trying to get anything for free I just want more than 24 hours to finish watching a movie on my iPad.  If iTunes would give more than 24 hours to finish a movie (like 48???) it would help.  I have spend endless hours trying to comunicate with Apple about the issue.  Guess what no one cares!  I love Apple and my Apple products, I am a very good customer but I think they are over the top on this issue, they have a monopoly.
    Maybe you have another suggestion??
This is the first time I have ever used a "Support Community" for ANY product, sorry I broke the rules.  I have never taken anything for free from anywhere.

  • How to make direct DVD-to-DVD copy?

I'm hoping this is easier than I'm making it. I work for a small theater that films every show in a weekend on 4 camera angles plus a multimedia feed. We record every angle directly to stand-alone DVD recorders (5 DVDs per show).
I get requests from the directors to view the shows each week, and up till now, i've been dutifully using Disk Utility to make an image file of the DVD to the hard drive, then burn a new blank DVD, but this process takes about 25 minutes for every show, not to mention the disk space, and increased requests are making this too time-consuming.
*I've got 2 DVD-writable drives; isn't there a way in OSX to directly copy a non-copy-protected DVD directly to another DVD? Wouldn't that be a big thing on the new Mac Pros that have 2 internal Superdrives? I tried doing it in Finder by copying one DVD and pasting it in the blank DVD, but that didn't work.*
If not, is there software anybody recommends? Nero for the PC does exactly what I want but doesn't come in Mac. I'm not sure if Roxio Toast does it, and I haven't found a demo of anything else that works... (tried Fast DVD Copy, but it won't stop "analyzing media" and "Aimersoft DVD Copy for Mac" doesn't download a file that my mac will open.)
    Thanks for the assistance!
    ~Trav

So far as I can tell (and the only thing that comes up in Disk Utility Help) is the method which requires an image file to be fully written to the Hard Drive and then burned to a blank DVD. I'm hoping to get that down to one step, DVD-to-DVD...
Any thoughts? It seems ludicrous to me that OSX would not have this ability natively.

after making the photo slide show, i clicked share>export movie.  after which i burned using toast. the file became a .mov.  i tried playing it in my mac and it worked. my fear now is will it also play in a regular dvd?... i read from google that mov files won't run in dvd players.  what format should i convert it to so it'll play in a dvd player.  can you suggest a faster way i can burn my projects for it takes me almost an hour to export.  im going to make 28 slideshows for my kids in school. *=( if i need to do this process 28 times, i may not be able to finish it on time.  please suggest a software or an alternative as to how i should do this... m more comfortable using imovie than iphoto.  thanks and i hope to hear from someone soon *=j

Thank you QuickTimeKirk...used toast to burn project... my project was in .mov, i tried to play it a dvd player, it did play... will try again tomorrow using another dvd player just to be sure it'll will really work with dvd players.  thank you again for your reply *=)

  • Best hd DVD burner software

Which is the best third party software to purchase for my new iMac so I can make hd DVDs from iMovies. I didn't realise my iMac didn't come with a DVD burner app. thanks

Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac?
Apple insists that the entire world has access to fast broadband (and are prepared to pay for the considerable bandwidth usage) and wants to distribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud, YouTube, Facebook, whatever) rather than mailing them a DVD. The fact that in reality not all users do, has so far had no effect on this policy. If you scream and shout loudly enough down the phone Apple may send you a free copy of iDVD. Stating that they would return their brand new Mac unless they received a copy of iDVD worked for some, but that is now said to have been withdrawn by Apple.
Also, you can complain bitterly via Apple’s Feedback link, perhaps suggesting that Apple could have provided a choice between burning DVDs and distributing home movies by other means. You may feel that Apple should not dictate how you destribute family videos or photos to distant relatives and friends, and should not assume that every user is prepared to pay for the excessive bandwidth usage charged by ISPs for huge downloads from the App Store:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that came with OS 10.7 Lion (which also omitted iWeb) or that comes with OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. And it is no longer included in the iLife 11 from the online Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/ilife/. Your only solution is to look on Amazon or eBay and try to get an older version that includes iDVD 7, i.e. iLife version 9 onwards. You should also do this if you plan to buy a new Mac anytime soon, as stocks of iLife that include iDVD will not be available for ever.
However, the vastly more expensive FCPX can burn a DVD without iDVD or DVD Studio Pro involvement, but lack the themes etc of iDVD. Also, of course, there is Roxio Toast, which is the best software for burning anything but again does not offer the flexibility of iDVD.
Apple has clearly indicated in the newest Mac mini and Retina Display MacBook Pro that it plans to get rid of optical disc drives as soon as possible across the board, providing an external USB drive as an option for users who need one.
Users increasingly have fewer opportunities to use optical drives, as the bulk of third party software is now available as a digital download either directly from the vendor or through Apple's App Store. Apple also sees digital distribution as the future of music and movies, as exemplified in Apple TV, which has never included an optical drive.
The company has never supported any new HD optical disc formats on its products, including Microsoft's ill fated HD-DVD or Sony's Blu-ray format, despite initially being involved in the Blu-ray standardization process. Instead, Apple has put its resources behind developing increasingly higher definition audio and video formats that it can distribute electronically through its own iTunes Store.
And if you think Microsoft are any better, their new Windows 8 operating system will not play DVDs, or burn them, unless customers buy an extra upgrade, the company has announced:  http://www.gizmag.com/windows-8-no-dvd-playback/22443/
In other words, computer manufacturers have declared optical media as dead, long before consumers are ready to stop using them, which is fine as long as they offered us a choice, but they won’t even do that. Flexibility and intuitive use of a computer seems to be a thing of the past.

  • What is the best DVD-ripping software for mac?

what is the best DVD-ripping software for mac?

Handbrake to copy to avi or mp4(I use it for watching my DVD's on the go, so my battery lasts for a longer time)
I think MP4 is better quallity.
To copy a DVD: simply use Toast (maybe withe popcorn, but I don't use it).
But, be legal! This is a forum, and anyone can see your posts!

  • Burning a DVD copy...

I need some clarification about burning a DVD copy of a disk I own.
I used "Jack-the-Ripper" on the disk first. Then, because of a post I saw somewhere, I put a blank DVD in my burner and ran "Hand Brake" which took over an hour grinding away and then reported the job was finished. However, nothing was written to my DVD.
So I loaded "Toast 8" and it appears to be burning the disk fine.
Before running Toast, I was able to play the movie from the HD video_ts file. This ability may be all I need since the whole purpose of this is to be able to view movies while on a trip.
Can someone explain what the purpose of Hand Brake is as it appears that I don't need to run it to burn a disk with Toast.

I use handbrake to create mp4 files for viewing on my iPod... I'm pretty sure it's just a format converter as opposed to a burning software.

  • Adobe CS3 Web Premium DVD or software (Windows)

I've recently needed to re-install Adobe CS3 Web Premium for Windows, and as it turns out the DVD is defective. I contacted Adobe for a replacement, and they informed me that they had neither the DVD nor the software that I could download. They said my only option was tio pay for the upgrade to CS34
I am looking for help in the Adobe community. Would someone be willing to make me a copy of the software? I have a valid retail license and only need the DVD or software download. I would reimburse you for the media and any shipping you may incur. Thanks

  • Final Cut Pro - does it come with a DVD Authoring Software

    Hey guys!
I'm just planning to change my Windows to a Mac.
I was looking around for a DVD Authoring Software and everyone was suggesting DVD Studio Pro. So I looked it up to get it's price but I couldn't find it at all. I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me where DVD Studio Pro is available. It would also be great if you could suggest any other DVD Authoring Software compatible with Mac OS.
    Thanks very much!

You either have not drunk the kool aid or did not get Apple's version of the future memo.
The DVD is dead according to Apple corp. And, they are doing everything possible to sweep it away. DVDSP has been discontinued.
If you want to stay with Apple apps, your options are iDVD or  Compressor 4 ( limited menus). Otherwise, start looking at the Adobe CS suite (particularly Encore).
Welcome to the brave new world.

  • Question on reinstalling DVD media software on a Satellite A100-049

When I first ran the System Restore on my Toshiba laptop it put these two on but I can see no way to reinstall them without restoring the entire drive back to when I first bought it. I still have WinDVD installed but have removed Ulead (I forget the exact name of the DVD Media software) and cannot now re-install it.
Would Toshiba send me a proper installation CD for these?
    Thanks

    Thanks. I was thinking that.
There's nothing wrong with the actual disc as far as I'm aware. There just appears to be no obvious menu when you run it from Windows. It restores perfectly fine. I wasn't sure if Toshiba would send me "normal" CDs for this software. I'm not after anything more than I get anyway.
