How can i convert powerpoint slide to PDF but still able to open the file when i click file icon.
So far the result I have once the slide is in PDF, I can't no longer click the file to open it.
    Thank you.

    Hi Joel,
The feature you are looking for, is currently not available in Acrobat.
But you can create an interactive link (to open Word/Excel) using Acrobat. Please look at the following link:

  • Reader compatability with x64 bit browsers?

I'm hoping to find out how I can use Adobe reader plugin with x64 bit IE7 & IE8 so I can read and search PDF files from within the browser. I use Vista X64 which actually installed both 32 & 64 bit versions of IE7 and when I use the 32 bit version of IE7 pdf's open in the browser just fine but when I try to open a pdf using the 64 bit version of the browser it insists on opening an external program instead of just opening the file in a tab of the browser. Is this even possible with a 64 bit browser? Is the solution something simple like I simply need to reinstall Adobe Reader 9.1 via the 64 bit browser to enable the feature or is it a hopeless idea?
I'm mainly wondering because I'm considering installing IE8 and don't want to have any problems

  • IE6 compatibility with 64-bit Windows Server

Is Internet Explorer 6 compatible with 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2003 or 2008?
My client needs to access more than 3GB of addressable memory (i.e. 64-bit O/S) but needs an "air gap" before they are ready to move off of IE6.
    Many thanks,
    Ian

    Thanks.
I suppose I should have added some more detail to this inquiry:
The application logic & databases are hosted on clustered HPUX environments.
Each application is accessed through a Windows Server environment, hosting the web servers.
Two separate domains access the applications (via the web servers) -
               1) A client desktop environment running Windows XP SP2 (and IE6) which interacts directly via HTML
               2) A Citrix farm environment providing access for Citrix WID clients. Applications are visible via IE6 running within the Citrix farm.
Citrix is currently running on a 32-bit Windows Server 2003 O/S. The Citrix clients share the available memory - with Windows Server 2003 that means 30-50 clients sharing 3GB RAM. That is insufficient for the new applications (Note: there are already other
applications accessed via this farm), hence the need for an O/S that has more addressable memory.
Changing to IE8/9 would make good sense for obvious reasons - but it will entail a huge retesting of performance and functionality on both environments as well as a new Desktop build and deployment. These delays cannot be accomodated by the project - hence
my question "Can Internet Explorer 6 run on 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2003 or 2008"?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ian

  • Device compatibility with 64 bit windows OS

Hi, we plan to upgrade our current computer, possibly to a 64 bit multicore with windows OS. Currently we use C++ as software plaform on a 32bit win XP for the following devices:
    PCI 6534
    PCI 6713
    PCI 6071E
    NI 9205
    USB 6501
Most of them use NIDAQmx as base level drivers. Are these devices compatible with 64 bit OS (win 7)?
    Thanks,

I have not checked that all of your devices are covered, but you should start looking here and here.

  • 32 bit Planning compatability with 64 bit Essbase

    Hi,
We are running version 11.1.1.3.01 of Planning, and Essbase 11.1.1.3 on two Windows 2003 R2 Sp2 servers. Planning/Worspace/etc on one server and Essbase by itself on the other. We want to add a new planning server and a new essbase server.
Will 32bit planning work with 64bit essbase if we want to go that route? Any downside to using 64 bit essbase with planning?
Also can multiple Planning Application servers exist in a single Worspace instance. In other words do I need to install workspace along side of planning on the new planning server? Can I get the existing Workspace installation to recognize the new planning server? What is the best practice? Hope that makes sense.
    Thanks for any responses,
    Keith

Best practice for multiple Planning servers is a load balancer (Force5 BigIP/Citrix NetScaler/Cisco/Microsoft NLB). Most larger companies have BigIP's or Netscalers.
The VIP should be set with sticky sessions based on source IP and you would register your environment with the VIP.

  • CHM File Compatibility with 64-bit Applications

Does anyone have any experience developing HTML Help (CHM)
for 64-bit applications? Are the 32-bit CHM files created with
RoboHelp compatible on the 64-bit platform? Thanks for your
    help!

    Hi,
I happened to notice this post and thought, "Yikes, we run
our CHM files on 64-bit systems all the time and we've never
    checked whether they're working properly."
So I did a systematic check of the following on a 64-bit
system (Windows 2003 Server). Fortunately, everything worked
exactly as it does on 32-bit versions. Phew!
Context sensitive help works (pressing F1 in the application).
All links worked, including popup links.
All expanding and dropdown hotspots worked.
Both Index and Contents worked fine. Contents updated
automatically when I move between topics (as is specified in our
    project).
Search functionality worked fine. Search options, too.
Favorites worked fine. These reappeared even when I closed the
help and reopened it (as they should).
All of the above also worked when I opened the CHM file from
Windows Explorer (rather than from inside the application).
    Regards,
    Eileen
P.S. I should add that the help was compiled using RH7.

  • Captivate 7 32 bit compatibility with 64 bit

I work on a 2-person development team. Both of us run Captivate 7 but I run a 32-bit version while my team mate run the 64-bit version.
We have noticed issues when trying to open and edit eachothers projects. Does anyone know if this could be the result of using the different bit-versions?

I don't think there will be issues. What kind of issues do you face? It might be because of some other reasons.

  • [Solved] Alsa with 24 bit Output Exclusively

This might be an unusual request hoping to find any ALSA expert. Hope this is a right place to post.
I just made an asynchronous USB2 audio device supporting 44.1k, 48k, 88.2, 96k, 192k sampling frequencies. The firmware so far just supports 24bit word length. Since this is a truly audiophile device the mixer / re-sampler is no option although it works (e.g. Amarok with Xine backend). MPlayer plays bit-perfect as long as the content is 24 bit and one of the above sampling frequencies - works since ALSA update in February 2011. It is really fun this way! However, most peoples's music content is 16 bit.
For Windows the ASIO driver is solving the problem, but I doubt it transfers bit-perfect (Tests to follow soon).
I really would like to recommend Linux for the use, but in this case the problem must be resolved. i could imagine 2 ways of doing:
    1. Simple: ALSA is configured to output any content with 24 bit word length. Means adding zeros after the 16th bit.
Disadvantage: Following Digital to Analog converters would accept the signal as true 24 bit and skip the quantization smoothing.
    2. Perfect: If there is an available option for doing this re-quantization in Alsa or MPlayer it would be perfect. As long as the algorithm is good, it doesn't matter this process is done within the DAC or within the computer.
My goal is to make a clear instruction of how to use our device with Linux without compromise.
    Thanks for any idea!

First of all thanks for so much response!
LADSPA was not known to me and I will study what I can do with it. Do you know how to use it?
Edit: LADSPA is meant for production software. No popular Linux player can use those plugins. A solution that works with Mplayer, gstreamer or xine would be accepted by most Linux users, since there are a lot of players on top of those.
Every modern DAC is using re-quantization, synchronous up-sampling and depending on the architecture also noise shaping. The general requirements for s/n can not be achieved with a pure 16bit approach. This is not a problem of the DAC hardware. The USB device can not be initialized when using a 16bit audio file; so the music never reaches the DAC.
The re-sampler inside Linux (or Windows) is definitely downgrading the audio quality. You don't need to have "golden ears" for experiencing this, rather than just a good audio system.
A clean re-quantization could do good, depending on the algorithm.
In case of just enlarging the word length (means in fact no signal change) the re-quantization would be also skipped in the DAC - a very puristic approach which should be proofed to be better. So how to configure ALSA for this?
A dither below on the very low bits of the 24bit signal should be a good idea since it is proofed to statistically shuffle the linearity errors and make the less audible.
Today I did some tests with a very high grade audio system and Linux performs great with 24 bit content. It is not easy to beat top grade CD players on the same DAC. In fact this USB solution is part of a DAC.
The Windows driver works good on my desktop system, but gets choppy on my Macbook... Still some work to do before I can compare.
I admit the cleanest solution would be a firmware revision, but the original firmware making company has no interest in solving this problem and Linux user would have to wait too long or sacrifice sound quality by re-sampling.

  • I must communicate with Word/Excel/Outlook in a MS world

    Hello all,
Planning on a move to Mac and want all my cards in order before I venture to my local Apple store.
My new purchase will be mainly for my personal use (90% of the time), - but - if I need to open/create Word/Excel docs and Outlook email with my Windows users in the office we need to communicate comfortably.
My question is (since I never used the Mac)---
What software that comes with a Mac can be used to create/save/open ---
    Word
    Excel
    Outlook
Are there any knows issues with the Mac versions communicating with the MS versions, or would I be better off with Office 94 ? I thought if I can use what came with the system - why not, save some $$
    Thanks,
    Bob

TextEdit, which is the built-in text editor in Mac OS X (similar to Wordpad in Windows) will open and save .doc files, but I don't think it'll handle anything too complex. AppleWorks, which comes with iMacs, iBooks and I think Mac minis will also open Office files. You can download OpenOffice and/or NeoOffice/J, both of which are free and will open Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. They're quite good for compatibility, but still have minor problems now and then.
However, I have to agree that if you expect to be dealing with MS Office files a lot, you should just buy the Mac version of Office. In contrast to my opinion of most MS products, I think Office:Mac is actually quite well done.
With regards to Outlook files, I'm not sure what you mean. I've never used Outlook, but I was under the impression that it was an email and calendar program, and had assumed that it didn't really deal with files. Mac OS X comes with Mail which is a solid email client, and iCal and Address Book for calendar and contact information. If you need Exchange support, I think your only option is MS Office, which includes Entourage. Entourage is the Mac equivalent for Outlook.

  • Generate documents(word,Excel,PowerPoint) from Document Templates with Security Markings programmatically

    Hi
It is required to create office document (can be word, Excel, PowerPoint etc) from predefined template with security markings programmatically within SharePoint Document libraries..
help with example source and references appreciated.
    Best

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to create a document based on a predefined template.
When we create a predefined template, actually the template is bound to the content type, we can retrieve it using its url.
    web.Lists[YourList].ContentTypes[yourContentTypeId].DocumentTemplateUrl
Then we can retrieve the predefined template as an SPFile, and use the
OpenBinary() method to get the byte[].
There is an article about this topic, you can refer to it.
