OPMN Configuration Assistant Fails during Installation

Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle 10g 10.1.2 (Release 2) in Windows 2K platform, it fails in the installation with the message as "OPMN Configuration Assistant Fails" in the OUI installation wizard and does not proceed at the end of it.
Then when I try to goto console of opmn and do startall and find out the status, it gives the status as OHS down. ANy idea why this is happening ?
Regds,
Nagarajan K.

Hi Nagarajan!
When the OHS does not start most of the config assitants will fail. Often the failures occur due to a bad network configuration (check your hosts file), more than one network card or an already running process on that port (eg you already have an Apache running on this machine).
In the cfgtoollogs a detailled error should be reported in the installactions file.

Can any bosy help me in this problem. I have tried reinstalling the OS also but the problem is still there at the same place

I had exactly the same poblem on a red hat 64bit OS on the infrastructure install.
But while trying to start opmn manually (that is definitely not to do to solve the problem). I had the error telling me that the shared library libdb.so.2 was not accessible.
I did add the compat-db-4xxxxx.i386.rpm and then retry the check. Then all passed threw.
To note that the .log file from the install says definitely nothing about this and that just trying to start the opmn did create another .log that gave me the file problem.
Hope it can help for 64bit linux OS installation.

  • OPMN Configuration Assistant Failed - During Midtier Installation

I'll try to make this short and sweet.
2 Boxes both running SLES9 Latest OCS Release (10.1.1.0.2 Sep 27).
By the book install. Have met all pre-install reqs.
Infra box installed okay. Very vanilla install except I opted for port ranges: web 7777, SSL 4443 etc.
Second Box , Midtier.(Apps Install) Trying to get a very vanilla install as well. Did not opt for port changes, took the defaults.
After about 40 minutes of the OPMN Config Assistant trying to start Webcache
and Wireless Notification engine, the installer finally times out and fails.
    Logs indicate the following:
Webcache log -- ...Failed to assign port 80: permission denied...server could not initalize
OPMN/wireless_notif_eng_1003 log --Panama server notif..eng..1003 failed to initalize
    ipm.log -- Process Crashed: OC4J~OC4J_imeeting~default_island~ Restarting
Even getting some indication of sql*net listener for email on port 25 failing because of permissions.
I was under the impression that the installation user id had rights to make high level changes. (I did get the prompt to run the root.sh)
I have the Metalink guys on this as well and its got them digging a bit deeper.
Does anyone have any ideas? What am I missing here?
    Thanks in advance!
    Paul

The Infra box install did give me a problem when I left the port selections to default (I did not use a portlist) i.e http=80, https=443, ldap 389, sldap 636. It refused to finish the install because it did not have rights to assign services to ports below 1024.
I thought that the Root.sh script took care of that issue (which has been confirmed by the Metalink folks) So I went with what some of the examples in the install guide had and used 7777 for http, 4443 for https, 3060 for ldap and 3131 for sldap. The Infra box then installed without a hitch.
I have met or exceed the hardware requirements for both boxes and have followed every detail regarding OS configs prior to install.
I am running into the same issue when installing the Apps box. Trying to take the defaults, no portlist file, just a plain default install.
I have double checked that no other services are running on these new boxes as I installed the OS with no bells or whistles. Very plain setup in other words.
My last chat with the Metalink guys seem to think there is a permissions issue and that SLES9 is not playing nice when executing the root.sh. script.
I am really flustered. Any ideas?

  • Database Configuration Assistant fails during installation Oracle EE 8.1.7

My machine runs RH 6.2 and I have tried to install it Oracle. After executing all pre-instalation steps, I run ./runInstall and instalation process goes on. I select Typical Instalation and instalation proceeds until 100%, when OUI tries to configure Net 8 Assistant and Database Configuration Assistant. Both applications fail in this phase. Unfortunately, OUI shows a message (for Database Configuration Assistant) informing that /u01/.../JRE/bin/jre does not exist. However, I have installed JDK 118 and JRE link seems correct, so that I can access JDK directory throught JRE link.

  • Agent Configuration Assistant failed during installation of Oracle 9i

    Hi,
Currently having problem with installing Oracle 9i R2 (9.2.0.4) on Redhat. Am getting this error:
    Parameter "orahome" = /apps/oracle/product/9.2.0.4/db_1
    Parameter "nodeinfo" = NO_VALUE
    Agent Service Failed
Does anyone has a solution on this?
    Thanks,
    JayArr

Lets start with the basics. There is no such thing as Oracle 9i.
Yes I know Oracle years ago used it as a marketing label but to help you we need the exact version to 3 decimal places.
Either way the version you are just now installing is so old it will be unsupported? Why are you installing Neolithic software?
And finally ... What agent? What agent configuration? What does an agent have to do with a 9i installation on XP?
The more specific you are, and the clearer your description, the more likely you will get help. Though why you are installing something so old escapes me at the moment. <g>

  • Database Configuration Assistant Failed During 9i Installation

Database Configuration Assistant failed during my 9i Installation due to lack of disk space. I had 4MG allocated on /apps and the application used 3.1GB. I now do not have the required 1GB for the seed database. Actually, I want to create the seed database on /oradata, not on /apps. Does anyone know how I can create that seed database in /oradata? I don't believe I was prompted for where to create that seed database. Also, how can I run the Database Configuration Assistant again? Typing the command dbca told me to set the DISPLAY environment variable and re-run.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
    Veronica

    I had java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError too.
This was fixed by having DISPLAY setting
    #export DISPLAY=host:0.0
Make sure your x window system is working Ok.
    I also used unset LANG

  • OPMN configuration assistant fails on Install

We are installing B2B intergation and during the install the OPMN configuration Assistant Fails. The error description is
    Error
    --> Process (pid=2942)
failed to start a managed process after the maximum retry limit
    Log:
    /home/oracle/MTProd/opmn/logs/B2B~B2BServer~MTProd.helenab2b.helenachemical.com~1
    The log shows:
    06/05/17 14:56:49 Start process
    May 17, 2006 2:56:51 PM: Starting B2B Engine -MTProd.helenab2b.helenachemical.com..
May 17, 2006 2:57:00 PM: There was an error starting B2B Engine -MTProd.helenab2b.helenachemical.com.
Any ideas how to proceed.. we are in the process of opening a TAR.
    Thanks

Please turn on the debug trace in tip.properties
Since we want to see why B2B did not start, we want to have as much trace as possible. Please set the following (in tip.properties)
    b2b.oracle.tip.DiagnosticLevel = DEBUG
    oracle.tip.LogType = text
If there is an exception in also should be logged in /home/oracle/MTProd/opmn/logs/B2B~B2BServer~MTProd.helenab2b.helenachemical.com~1
Please gather as much trace information as possible when you start the B2B Server manually.
If opmn is not started, use the 'opmnctl start' command in $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin
Then use the following command to start B2B:
    opmnctl startproc process-type=B2BServer
    Thanks,

Use physical disks, not NFS mounts. But you are still restricted to a 10.2 database max. SSO won't install in an 11g database with the repca tools from IDM 10.1.2 and 10.1.4.

It seems you have a problematic java frame (perhaps bug) and need to check out the reason in the hs_err_pid144.log file.
