Opmn.exe

Hi
I am using Basic Installation of SOA suite 10.1.3.1.0.
When I start SOA suite I can see two opmn.exe s running in the task bar.
Is there any specific reason for this?
Thanks
V Kumar

Haven't seen that, but you might consider upgrading to 10.1.3.4, available from OTN.

  • OPMN.exe has stopped working.

    Hi
I have installed SOA suite on my laptop which is having a Vista Operating system.Installation went fine and when i started SOA Suite I'm getting an error as follows.
    OPMN.exe has stopped working
Is this b'coz of my operating system is vista?
your help in this regard is highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Laj

I'm fairly sure this has to do with your OS, Vista. As far as I know the SOA Suite doesn't run yet on the vista platform.
If you still want to run the soa suite on your laptop you could install VMWare of a similiar tool and run it in a virtual environment. Helps to keep your laptop install clean as well.

  • ProcessManager service (opmn.exe -s) results 100% CPU util.

    I've just installed Oracle 10g Release 10.2.0.1.0 on Windows 2003 Server w/ SP1.
However, I proceeded to install the Oracle HTMLDB & HTTP Server into a separate Oracle home director. The install completes successfully and I'm able to access Oracle's 10g HTMLDB from http://localhost:7777/pls/htmldb/htmldb. The server is running fine, but I took notice on the "performance" which indicates the CPU is running at 100% utilization.
I found that if I turn the OracleOraDb10g_ProcessManager (opmn.exe -s) service off, the CPU reduces itself down to 0%. Although, I don't notice a performance hit on the server when the service is turned on. Is there a patch that can be applied? Any thoughts on this?
    Windows 2003 Server SP1
    AMD Athlon 1800+ , ~1.5Ghz
    640MB RAM

After a bit of research, I found that someone had tried editing the "opmn.xml" configuration and changing the port to 6102. Everything worked after I restarted the process from the command line using "opmnctl startall", "opmnctl reload".

  • Solution Provided. 10g Infratructure Fails to Start in Reboot. opnm.exe err

    Hi All,
Just finished an Oracle Application Server 10g install on windows 2003 and thought I would detail an issue we had with the infrastructure.
The install runs fine and we are initially able to register the Business Intelligence servers against it. After a reboot the OracleasAScontrol service remains at a status of starting. (This is the service that runs nmesrvc.exe).
Further Symptoms are errors with the opmn.exe file. Ours would pop up and error every time we tried to shut the machine down. After we added some trusted sites we found that opmn.exe would error immediately when we logged in after a reboot.
Cause - We think this is being caused by the nmesrvc.exe (OracleoracleasAScontrol) service actually starting the opmn.exe (OracleoracleasProcessManager) service before the service has a chance to start itself. (Verified by setting both services to manual, rebooting, then starting the OracleoracleasAScontrol. Note that the OracleoracleasProcessManager starts by itself or reports the service as started.)
This seems to be causing the OracleoracleasProcessManager service not to actually run, even when set to automatic. It does however run the command to shut it down and disable the services when the system is shutdown. The problem is that even though opmn.exe is starting, the modules attached to it are remaining down because the opmn.exe -S is not running to start them up.
    Services involved
    Fix -
    1. disable both services (Note "disable", not "set to manual")
    2. Reboot
    3. set OracleoracleasAScontrol to manual.
    4. Select and start OracleoracleasAScontrol
    5. set OracleoracleasProcessManager to manual
    6. Select and start OracleoracleasProcessManager (You may get an error about process shutting down. Ignore it)
    7. Set OracleoracleasAScontrol back to automatic
    8. Set OracleoracleasProcessManager to disabled (And never enable it again)
    9. Reboot and order shall return.
    Reason.
What we found is that there are 2 parts to the opmn.
1 The opmn service which allows opmnctl to connect and start and stop individual components.
2 The control which starts and stops the components.
If you just start and stop opmn as a part of the OracleoracleasAScontrol then there is no need to start and stop the components. It also says in the manual that if you stop the compnents you must start them again as opmn will not start them automatically.
On our system it looks as though the OracleoracleasProcessManager is trying to do both of these parts and the OracleoracleasAScontrol is also including the 1st part. This duplication means that the 2nd part is running at shutdown but not at startup due to the OracleoracleasProcessManager assuming that it has already been run (We think it looks at the opmn.exe process). This then leaves the opmn.exe running but the components remain down.
We hope this may be useful should anyone come across the same problem.

    Hi,
I am facing exactly the same problem after installing OracleAS 10g Infrastructure. Whenever I restart my machine I get the opmn.exe error messages and it don't go away. The other thing is that the memory usage behaviour of "opmn.exe" is strange. It is utilizing 100% cpu and the memory taken is 1.36 Gb. I have to stop and restart it.
I tried the fix, which you provided but it is not working with me. Still I get the opmn.exe error.
Actually I want to install "Portal" component on it and I am stucked by this problem in Infrastructure.
Any Idea as how to solve this problem?

    Shah

  • OPMN process failing every second on 12c agent install Windows servers

    Hi,
I have installed the 12c agent to both Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 servers and on both OS's I receive an application error event in the Windows logs that the opmn.exe is crashing. I have no idea what this process is or why it's crashing. I don't see any OPMN\logs in the home directory. Any idea what I"m doing wrong? I'm installing it with a response file and it seems like it's working fine otherwise, but I cannot figure out why it installed this opmn.exe and how to install it without it?
    Any help hugely appreciated!!
    Thanks

    Hi,
This is caused due to the service 'Oracle-agent12r1ProcessManager' that gets created as a part of 12C agent.
Issue is being investigated in following BUG:
    BUG 14610919 - WINDOWS AGENT INSTALLER 12C BP1 INSTALLING OPMN.EXE SERVICE
Stopping the service Oracle-agent12r1ProcessManager will stop the errors and will not have any impact on the functionality of the agent.

  • Forms 11g - after deinstallation OPMN Service not deleted

after deinstallation of forms 11g, the OPMN Service is not deleted.
when rebooting windows, a message is shown that opmn.exe has detected an error.
what can i do? the uninstaller is now uninstalled ...
Just the start-menu items are not deleted.
why there are still 1.64 Gbyte / 21.516 files in the oracle/middleware directory after deinstallation?

    Hi,
You need to delete the entries from registry.
Search for instance name and opmn and try deleting that.

  • Unable to find OPMN under the services tab after an essbase re-install

    Hi all,

after installing essbase, I had trouble configuring-so I had to re-install essbase- but after re-installing, I am unable to find OPMN under the services tab. Is there a way to invoke OPMN as a service?

    John,
I finally found a reference to an old server under opmn.xml(of all places). Once I resolved this, I was able to start OPMN.
But OPMN still doesn't show up as a service. I found some Oracle notes on how to setup the same. Hopefully, it will help.
If OPMN is not setup as service(started manually), will it still bring Essbase up? Currently it is not bringing up Essbase.
opmnctl status shows that essbase is down.

  • OPMN issue

    Hello,
Whenever I start the application server I encounter a dialog box with the following error
"opmn.exe encountered a problem and needed to close."
When I try to troubleshoot it, it takes me to a temp folder in the c:\ which contains "accompat.txt" and "opmn.exe.mdmp" which is said to cause the problems.
    Although
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B13597_05/core.904/b12057/opmntrbl.htm#i1012361
helps to diagnose the problem it still doesn't provide an able solution for the issue. I would appreciate your help.
    Thanks

    Hi Samp,
Can you please share with us how do u start the application server??
try this and please let us know if your facing any problem, please share the opmn logs..
1st Enter the infra home through command prompt.

    Got resolved

  • Unable to start Oracle Process Manager from the windows services for OBIEE

    Hi,
I have OBIEE 11g installed on a 32-bit windows machine. Of the two windows services installed, I am unable to start the Oracle Process Manager. When I try to start it I get the following error:
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request  in a timely fashion.
At the back end, this service is calling the file opmn.exe which is placed at MIDDLEWAREHOME\Oracle_BI1\opmn\bin. On trying to execute this file the error we get is:
The procedure entry point longjmp could not be located in the dynamic link library orauts.dll
I have tried replacing the orauts.dll file, but to no avail.
Please let me know if you have any clue regarding what is to be done.
    Thanks
    Naman

    Hi Naman,
This error occurs for the following reasons,
*Path variable is not set properly
*Multiple Oracle homes exists in the same machine.
Follow the below steps and let me know if it works,
    1. Select My Computer -> Right Click -> Properties
    2. In the System Properties screen go to Advanced Tab
    3. Click on Environment Variables
    4. In the System Variables section select PATH variable & Click edit
    5. Now you will find that it will contain invalid directories. Remove the incorrect entries. This may happen when you have multiple oracle homes in the same machine
    6. Restart the service.

    Dpka

  • SOLUTION: Installing 10.1.3.1.0, 10.1.3.3,0 and 10.1.3.3.1 on Vista

Oracle SOA Suite is not yet certified on Windows Vista, but you can get it to work if you know the gotchas. These steps worked for me. If you needed to do some extra steps, please reply to this post.
Some of this information comes thanks to the people in this thread:
    SOA Suite for windows vista
That has links to other threads and help, including this useful blog:
    http://www.approach-alliance.nl/index.php?option=com_jd-wp&Itemid=2&p=52
    Installing 10.1.3.1.0
This installtion is the full release (as opposed to a patch). The most common problem is the Configuration Assistant failing on the OWSM configuration.
    1. You need to disable IPv6 (the up-and-coming replacement for the IP address convention). The steps are described in Note 444112.1 which can be found on Metalink. You can also find instructions elsewhere on the web (hint: try Google). Alright, I'll do it for you -- you can find the instructions on this page:
    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/network/ipv6/ipv6faq.mspx
    2. Before starting setup.exe for SOA Suite, right-click it and choose Properties. Change the compatibility mode to Windows XP (Service Pack 2).
    3. Run setup.exe and the installation should work.
    Installing 10.1.3.3.0 or 10.1.3.3.1
This is a patch installation that has to be installed into an existing 10.1.3 home.
The most common problem is the installer hanging at 84%.
    1. Again, run setup.exe in Windows XP compatibility mode.
    2. At 84%, the installer attempts to start the SOA Suite instance. Let it hang for a while until your server is fully started.
    3. Using Task Manager (or even better, Process Explorer from Sysinternals -- it's free) kill any opmn.exe processes that are running.
    4. Immediately start them again. (Run opmnctl startall on the command line from SOA_HOME\opmn\bin).
    5. The installer will continue. At first it won't seem like it is, it sits on 84% for a little bit. But give it a couple of minutes and it should continue.
    6. Later in the Configuration Assistants screen, it will hang on the second (and final) step which is the OPMN configuration. The output in the details section will say:
opmnctl: starting opmn and all managed processes...Again, give it some time until you think the server really is fully started.
    7. Shutdown the server. (Run opmnctl shutdown on the command line from SOA_HOME\opmn\bin). This will allow the installer to continue. As it turns out, starting the server was the last thing the installer was going to do anyway, so the installation ends immediately.
    8. Everything should work now. Well, once you start the server that is. I got an error in the BPEL Console when I tried to open it. The fix for that is described here:
SOLUTION: BPEL Console error with 10.1.3.3 or 10.1.3.3.1 patch
The starting and stopping of the server in the steps above are probably not the most efficient. But they worked for me.
If you tried the steps in this post, please reply here with your results so we can see if they are helpful or not.
    Regards,
    Robin.

Thanks Robin. I was installing patch 10.1.3.3 over the existing 10.1.3.1 in Windows Vista, I encountered the same problem as you have described here.
You solution worked perfectly for me !
    Thanks,

    Hi Adama,
you can check the install log first (under Program Files\Oracle\Inventory\Logs) ,If log file appears "PermGen space" error ,then you try to change MEM_ARGS to -Xms512m unger \MidXXX\wlserver_10.3\common\bin\CommEnv.cmd
    Good Luck
