Opmnctl status in linux server
Hi all,
All the services in OBIEE 11.1.1.5 are not starting up in my Linux Server. So when I'm trying to see my OPMNCTL status in terminal I'm getting the below message.
can not resolve localhost.localdomain for interface any
Could anybody suggest on this?

the path settings are fine.
I have checked the OAS services on linux like
cd ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin
./opmnctl status
This worked fine before,but now its giving some different msg
./opmnctl: line 1: /oracle/OracleAS/opmn: is a directory
and how do i check the path settings that u specifed

Not able to start database Oracle 11g on Linux Server

I am using Oracle 11g database. I have successfully installed it on my linux server (Oracle Linux 4).
When i am trying to access database through url "https://localhost.localdomain:1158/em".
Browser is throwing some error that SSL port is not enabled but i feel otherwise.
I tried to diagonse the problem, where i could find that listener port is not getting started.
How to start all the services related to Oracle Database ?
I am newbie for linux as well as database.

Using Windows NT 4.0 client program connecting to oracle 8i linux server
Dear sir/madam,
Recently, I have successfully installed Oracle 8i in my red hat linux database server. I am disappointed because I can find client side Oracle Enterprise Manager in my linux server even I have installed client program in my linux database server.
Next, I install Oracle 8i client side program (windows NT/2000 version) in my Windows NT 4.0 server. I am still disappointed because I find Oracle Enterprise Manager console cannot work.
For Windows NT 4.0 Enterprise Manager, I have key in default administrator sysman, password oem_temp, and connect to mamagement server hangng (my linux database server). An error message display 'VTK-1000 Unable to connect to the management server hangng. Please verify that you have entered the correct host name and the status of the Oracle Management Server.'.
What's wrong with both Oracle 8i Management Server in linux database server and windows nt 4.0 server. Is there any problem for Oracle Management server console to connect to red hat linux database server?[email protected] wrote:

Connecting Win95 - Oracle/Linux Server
Hi,
I recently purchased a 5 client license for Oracle Linux. I
installed the server on my Redhat 5.2 machine and the
Net8/SqlPlus client on my win95 box. I have a billing system I'm
trying to install (PRISM, www.isppower.com) with the client on
the win95 and the database on Linux. I can run Net8Assistant
and create a name (PRISM) for the server. I can connect to the
name using SQLPLUS. I created a new user, tablespace, tables and
data using the scripts that come with the billing system. All
this worked using SQLPLUS on the win95 box connecting to the
linux server. Now, when I try to run the billing application
which uses ODBC I get an error that Oracle cannot find the name
server. This is coming from the ODBC driver.
Using NetAssistant I can't find any Oracle Name servers. The
only thing I'm running on the linux box is the database (dbstart)
and the listener (lsnctrl start).
The listener status give this output (not permission denied
problems on the TNS entries)

The problem is your ODBC- Call, for sure. Are there some more
informations ? 16bit ? 32 bit ? Which type of net ? Is your
odbc-driver capable for Net8 ? Will you give an description of
your dsn ?
Some suggestions...if your odbc-call is not Net8 capable, try the
following in your registry:
hkey_local_machine -> software -> oracle
add TNS_ADMIN
value C:\ORAWIN95\NET80\ADMIN
which references the path for your tnsnames.ora file

Execution timed out error when running opcagt command on linux server with agent 11.12.009 installed
Hi,
Can anyone help me in the below issue.
we have a Linux server with agent version 11.12.009 installed on it. when I try running opcragt command on it through are management server it gives the output that all agent components are running.
but when I check the agent status or version through opcagt command on it it gives below error:

Long response times calling XE on a Linux Server
I've installed XE on a Suse 9.2 Linux Server.
In most cases I get a fast access to XE over APEX. But sometimes, I get a timeout when a I call a page on APEX.
There is also a paralell running Apache webserver (port 80) on the server.
XE port 8080.
Does anybody know what's the reason for this?you may catch cpu consuming processes from operating system and if they are related to xe instance you can use this easily to identify what is going on behind;

You need to match the top cpu os processes' id with the "pr.spid" column, then you might look at the other columns of that row for details.
Also the database runs a number of jobs - backups, etc. these may be the problems.

Opmnctl status command missing?

I'm installing a 3-tier OCS9.0.4 Collaboration Suite on Windows 2003 Server and I just finished installing the infrastructure tier. The installation was successful.
I'm following the Application Server 10g Administrator Guide to verify the installation. Task 4 of section 1.4 specifies to run the opmnctl status command to verify that the opmn services are running.
I go to the bin folder C:\ocs_infra\opmn\bin (c:\ocs_infra is my Oracle Home) and run the command "opmnctl status". The result of this is that opmctl returns with the usage information. It does not list the status, ping or validate commands and trying any of these commands results with the usage information shown.
Why am I missing the status command? Is there a way to get it back? Is there another way to verify which opmn processes are running?

AnaOCS 9.0.4 is usually based on 9iAS 9.0.2.(3). This means you will have to follow the instructions in the 9.0.2 documentation:

Not all components are managed by OPMN/DCM. For example, OID, is started by hand. There are even startup/shutdown scripts on MetaLink for all components, including some 'wait' loops because you cannot fire them in a row.

Hello,
I am unable to connect to the Linux server - getting a message - incorrect username or password . I have used this number of times and I am sure I am using the correct username and password.However, I tried to log in this time after few months to the Enterprise linux server and got this message. I have the VMware version 2.5.0 build-122581. I am using the Enterprise Linux 2.6.9-89.0.0.0.1.Esmp OS to use the Oracle EBS R12 off it. When I click the console in the VMware it starts the Linux. While it is at the 'Network starting, stage it shows 'Determining IP information : Failed' and few lines down the line 'starting smartd': Failed as well, while others are ok. I suspect these are cause of the message 'Incorrect username or password'.
What may be the issue? How do I resolve it?
Any urgent help would be highly appreciated.

How to backup a Linux server over ssh using Leopard?
I have a server running Linux, and my main machine is a Macbook running Leopard. I want to back up the entire root directory (including subdirectories) of the Linux server to an external HDD attached to Macbook.
My initial thought was to mount the Linux server's root directory on Leopard using sshfs, and then use RSyncX to backup that mounted directory on external HDD attached to Leopard. Unfortunately sshfs mounted directories are not treated as "drives" by RsyncX (and a lot of other apps).

Exporting a report on the Linux server
We are trying to export a report generated in the Excel format.
This works fine in local host, bust has the problem when the application is uploaded on the Linux server.
We are getting the below error:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: /usr/share/tomcat5/webapps/onlinetest/OverallReport_11-01-2008.xls (No such file or directory)The message seems pretty clear to me. That file doesn't exist.
