Opportunity Team Roles

Hello,
On the Opportunity Team record set, there are two fields that gets displayed, user role and team role. User role is the role defined in user administration and team role is the role specific to the opportunity.
Does the team role drive any record visibility functionality other than presenting an email address for the user in the Send Email action on the WF ? Assigning team role is not available in the assignment rule definition as well.

  • Opportunity Team Role equal to Account Team Role

    In CRMOD, I know that within the Company profile, and have the following check box checked: Enable Parent Team Inheritance, then the User Role is carried down. Example, I have an account with an account team. I then go and create an opportunity from that account and the team is carried over, the roles are also carried over.
    What I'm trying to discover on how to do is how to have that same feature for Team Roles. Would this be a workflow, or a setting that needs to be enabled, or some type of default value?
    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Opportunity Team Assignment Rule and Automated Task Owner

    Hi,
    We have a requirement that when an Opportunity is created, the Opportunity Team assigned will be based on the Owner of the record. We created a "test" assignment rule wherein the:
    * Team Assignment: (Example) John Locke (Manager), Jack Shephard (Coordinator)
    * Rule criteria: Opportunity Owner First Name = Sawyer, Opportunity Owner Last Name = Ford (Question 1: I can't find Owner id field from the list... that would have been better..)
    This works when the Reassign Opportunity checkbox is ticked during record creation and I needed to refresh the record to see the added users in the Team. (Question 2: Is that how it really works? Also, the users added in the Team does not have an Opportunity Role assigned... This field is important to my requirement..)
    We have 3 Opportunity Team Opportunity Roles: Manager, Coordinator, Sales Rep. We also have a Sales Process based on the Opportunity Type wherein each Sales Stage has automated tasks for it. We assigned the "Opportunity Team Role - Coordinator" as the Owner of the tasks.
    This part does not work because when you create the opportunity record, the user in the Team is only the Owner (creator of the record = Sawyer Ford)m which is also assigned as the Owner of the Activities created based on Sales Stage. What should happen is that the Owner of the Activities should be "Jack Shephard" (Coordinator from the assignment rule).
    Question 3: How can I assign Opportunity Team Role in the assignment rules?
    Question 4: It seems like the Sales Stage fires first (which creates the automated tasks) before the assignment rule fires....

    Hi Abhijit,
    Indeed as you stated, the team assignment can only be self-assigned. Meaning that a manager cannot assign a team assignment to another member. Customizing this feature could be quite complex and time/money consuming. If you decide to go that way, then it
    is out of my knowledge.
    Using the "reassign task" feature will not help because once reassigned, the manager will not be able to change the assignment again for another resource.
    I'd rather suggest to put in place a process together with the project manager who is actually managing assignments in the project with Project Pro. For example the manager can access the project plan and should only update his resources on assignments but
    not the project itself.

  • Opportunity Team - Opportunity Role

    Hi,
    We're trying to make the Opportunity Team RI > Opportunity Role field to be auto populated when a user is added, by having this default value:
    JoinFieldValue('<User>',[<UserId>], '<Division>')
    NOTE: We're using Division field from User record type for testing purpose only.
    This does not work though.. the Opportunity Role field is not getting populated. We tried putting a constant string to the default and it works.
    Any suggestions?

    Whenever a new record is created, fields that have a default setting are immediately evaluated before the new record form is displayed to the end-user. In the case of Opportunity Team, if you specify a literal value for the role field, it is immediately displayed (as you have tested). That is because the literal is a constant which is already available.
    If an expression such as JoinFieldValue('<User>',[<UserId>], '<Division>') is specified, the application fails to resolve the Division because the UserId does not exist yet. Remember, the application attempts to resolve default values as soon as a user opens the Opportunity Team dialog and BEFORE a team member is selected. Specifying post-default = Y will not work either because the default value that was calculated and stored in the application memory is null.
    This is how defaults work. The only way a role can be defaulted is using webservices because the web service can retrieve a user's attributes and insert the attribute as a literal.

  • Opportunity Team - Owner

    Hi Folks,
    Using the Opportunity Team functionality:
    When a user creates an Opportunity against an account that they do not own, the account owner is added to the 'Opportunity Team' along with the user who created the opportunity in the first place. Is there any way to prevent this? We do not want the account owner to be added to the oppotunity team automatically.
    When the record is written to the warehouse the 'Account Owner' is listed as the record owner 'Owned By User - User Name' and not the user who created the opportunity (Opportunity Product History Subject Area). We need to use this field as it also drives 'Report To' and 'Supervisor'. When you look at the opportunity in the application and scroll to the 'Opportunity Team' tab the correct person is listed as having "Owner" for 'Opportunity Access' yet this is not reflected in the warehouse? Any Ideas?

    Have you defined an account team and have you provided access to opportunities in the account team location? If so they will automatically flow into all the opportunities you create. If you leave the opportunity access blank in the account level, they will not be added to the every opportunity that is created.

  • Opportunity team in report

    Could anybody help me how to get an opportunity team in the report, there is no field named oppty team in opportunity metrics. Helpful suggestions are welcome

    I'm new to the Forum and was happy to see this topic brought up. Our company implemented CRM OnDemand back in June for 140 users. We were under the impression when we configured that we were going to be able to report on the Opportunity Team object. Our company tracks sales for commission computation for multiple BD on any given opportunity. We expected to be able to track this info through the Opportunity Team object. We've created a very messy workaround - created a new multi-pick list field to be able to identify multiple BD in an Opportunity Record - but that too has its reporting limitations.
    I intend to file an Enhancement Request and would like to hear from any others as to how they might be solving this business need given Opportunity Team cannot be reported on.
    Does Oracle have any other information on this? Is Opportunity Team analytics on the road map to be included in a future release?

    What's the function of "Team Role" in Team configuration.
    For example, go to Account Detail page, click "Add Users" button in Account Team section, there's a dropdown list named "Team Role".
    In help document, it says:
    To explain the role the linked record plays in relation to the main record, select an option from the Team Role drop-down list.
    But I don’t understand, can anyone explain this for me?

    Team Roles are the access you define to a user you associate to a record. Lets say there are 3 user's A,B and C. If you want to associate All threeto an Account but each should have different access to that account. like A can have Edit, B Edit and delete and C only read only access. so for each user your associating you can control the access exclusively

  • Succession Planning - Support team roles and functionalities

    I'm looking for clarification about the role you can assign to a member of a support team for a requisition (object NB)
    In Succession Planning (E-recruiting) when you create the succession plan (requisition Object NB) you have to define the support team; persons authorized to process the succession plan.
    When you assign a new member to the support team of a requisition you have to specify the role. In the standard there are two roles "Restricted Succession Planner" and "Succession Planner". The first role does not have the authorization to approve a requisition (object NB).
    How the role assigned in support team works?; is it related to rights and authorizations in processing a requisition?
    For example can I manage the following scenario: the same user has different roles for different requisitions; for example "restricted succession planner " for NB 00000001  and at the same time the role "succession planner" for object NB 00000002? does it mean that the user will not have the authorization to approve NB00000001 but he will have the authorization to approve NB00000002?

    Hi,
    the role assignment in the requisition maintenance (no matter if e-recruiting or the old succession planning part in e-rec available till 600 EhP3) is a purely logical or business view. It has nothing to do with the authorization of the user for this object.
    The posiblity if you can approve a requisition is defined by the authorization roles only, which have nothing to do with the support team roles. So no matter which support team role you have, if your authorization is wide enough you can do everything with the requisition.
    It would not make much sense to link the authorization to the support team. As you can define the support team when you are in the requisition maintenance you could always change your support team role to bypass these checks for approval.
    So unfortunately the your scenario is not possible (even some really ugly hacking with context authorization would probably not work because of the authorization buffes and in a business view due to the point mentioned above.).
    The support team roles are for documantation purposes who is supposed to do what in the requisition handling and can be used for some technical controling of functions like workflows or printing. So different support team roles are not completely useless.

  • Opportunity partner role pickist definition?

    Hi,
    Where does one define custom values for the opportunity partner role picklists? The help indicates that the administrator can create custom values, but I can't seem to locate where. Under Admin>Application Customization>Opportunity Partner Field Setup, the Role and Reverse role picklists are read_only.

    Set it up under Account Relationship Field Setup and then you will see it when you do a opportunity partner relationship.

  • Book assignment on Opportunity team

    Hi,
    I would like to assign a book when a user is added on the opportunity team. If the user is from another division as the owner, then the book of the division is added on the record.
    Is it possible to do it or is there another way to answer my need?

    Unless I misunderstood the request this can be done via the groups option. If you can erect groups in advance (through the Admin link), then when an owner is assigned to the opty, then everyone in his/her group will be assigned to the opty team.
    The problem is usually being able to define the groups since each user can be associated with only one group.

  • PRM and Opportunity Team

    Any PRM users out there? We use Opportunity Teams and need both internal and partner users on the team. The problem comes up when building the team. When the opportunity owner is NOT a partner user, they can see the list of all users when building the team. When the opportunity owner IS a partner user, the list of users is limited to just them self. Why? We need a collaborative team and most opportunities are owned by a partner. We often have multiple partner organizations working together on a deal (one is the reseller and another is the distributor).
    Any thoughts? I created an SR and I'm hoping this is a bug.

    Hi,
    In R16 you are not able to alter the functionality you mention below. Its on our roadmap to provide more collaborative functionality. You could decide not associate the user to their partner org on the user record (they would then see all users in the system - which might not work for you). But note the Partner Owner Sync Workflows wouldn't work. I would like to discuss your requirements if you could let me know how to contact you. Thank you.

  • Opportunity Team Email Workflow

    Hi,
    I need to send an email as and when a new user is added to the oppty Team.I need to send an Email to the particular Member who is geting added.Kindly help me with how to select the Email address.I can use the Oppty Team object,trigger event as when new record is created but the options for email To address is "Specific User" and "Specific Email Address" only. So I cannot make this as a general workflow which will send emails to persons getting added. Any suggestions ?

  • Opportunity team history

    Hello,
    I have a question regarding opportunity team. Here is the thing.
    1. I am on an opportunity with Owner = Bryan
    2. I change the owner to John
    3. In the opportunity team i see Bryan AND John.
    4. There is no way to delete (even manually) the previous Owner Bryan
    5. This happens only when I have an Account linked to this Opportunity...
    6. My problem : I don't want the previous owner of the opportunity to be added to the opportunity team.
    I am lost. Could you please help me ? Thanks a lot

    Thanks for the answer. I opened a SR and was told it's a known product defect. In addition to the owner of the account (as you told) you will have all the previous owners of the opportunity in the 'opportunity team'. But there is a workaround to this problem. You need to go on Company administration and unckech a box in the company profile. The box is under section "Company Data Visibility Settings" and is untitled "Default Group Assignment". ONLY If you unckech this box, you will not have the previous owners of the opportunity in the 'opportunity team' . Thanks !
