Hi Saravanan,
Please see inline my response.
1. Was the GW server working properly before?
Yes the GW server was fine till yestrday and all agents were healthy.
2. Were valid certificates imported on GW and its corresponding MS
We have not imported any GW or MS certificates in the past few days.
3. Is there a communication issue between the GW and its MS?
Could you help me find out how to find out as i dont find any error in the eventviewer.
4. Do you see a value named 'ChannelCertificateSerialnumber' under "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Operations Manager\3.0\Machine Settings". The value you see there should be in exact reverse order of what you see as the Certificate Serial number
in MMC Certificates snap-in (Run- MMC- Add Snap In -- Certificates -- Computer Account. Expand the personal store and there should be a certificate that scom uses for the GW server.
I did see the
ChannelCertificateSerialnumber in the registry entry and the certificate that scom uses and they seems to be different.
i have 3 certificates in the personal store in which 2 are internal issuing CA ceritificates created using
computer authentication V2 and web auth template.
The other certificate is an invalid cerificate which has been expired exactly an year ago.

  • Operations Manager OpsMgr Connector error [event ID21006

    Hello,
Our office is currently successfully running SCE 2007 SP1 on one system (NEWSCE) however it had been installed previously on a different server (OLDSCE). It would appear that the previous admin had successfully uninstalled the old server and had it successfully removed from the AD however on all of our servers (and some clients) I am seeing the following OpsMgr Connector error.
    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: OpsMgr Connector
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 21006
    Date:  2/17/2009

    User:  N/A
    Computer: CRITICAL_SERVER
    Description:
The OpsMgr Connector could not connect to OLDSCE.domain.com:5723.  The error code is 10061L(No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
).  Please verify there is network connectivity, the server is running and has registered it's listening port, and there are no firewalls blocking traffic to the destination.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
This error seems to relate to the fact that I have two copies of MonitoringHost.exe resident in memory and when I look in the registry for OLDSCE I find there are two registry key entires for management groups for OLDSCE_MG and NEWSCE_MG
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Operations Manager\3.0\Agent Management Groups\
    My question is this:
Can I simply delete the registy key for the OLDSCE_MG managment group and be done with this issue or is there more to it?
    Thanks,

Hi , how to delete in registers readily . What is the result ?

Windows 2003 Server in the Internet DMZ in a workgroup not reporting to SCOM2012 SP1
Error logged in the Operations Manager Log on the SCOM2012 Server:
The OpsMgr Connector negotiated the use of mutual authentication with 1P.IP.IP.IP:4092, but Active Directory is not available and no certificate is installed.
    A connection cannot be established.
Error logged in operation manager log on Windows 2003 Server:
The OpsMgr Connector connected to RMS.domain.com, but the connection was closed immediately without authentication taking place.
The most likely cause of this error is a failure to authenticate either this agent or the server .
Check the event log on the server and on the agent for events which indicate a failure to authenticate.
Done the following so far no luck ….
5723 opened both ways from this Windows 2003 server and our scom2012 SP1 server.
Created certificates for this Windows 2003 Server numerous times and imported using the momcertimport successfully
Certs are created using the FQDN of this Windows 2003 Server
On Windows 2003 Server checked the regkey to make sure the Serial Number of the cert is valid and not screwed up.
Host file is in place on this Windows 2003 Server pointing to my SCOm2012 SP1 server and pinging is not an issue.
Stopped the SCOM Agent service on Windows 2003 Server and renamed the folder here C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager\Agent\health service state and restarted the service.
Certificate on the SCOM2012 server is also valid and not screwed up in the registry.
review new manual agent installation in pending management view is also enabled under security on the scom 2012 server
I don’t see any thing logged in the Agent Logs on my SCOM 2012 Server related to the above installation attempts.
    I know SCOM2012SP1 supports Windows 2003 SP3.  My windows 2003 Servers are SP3.

Try import with MOMCertimport.exe on the newly added MS. Once you did that all worked as expected.

  • Gateway server not able to authenticate

    Hello SCOMMers :)
I have a issue with my SCOM 2012 R2 system that i just can't get my head around.
We just purchased a brand new SCOM server that I have migrated our environment to, moved the databases, reporting server and finally i got things up and running after some issues with the DB move.
So i now have 2 SCOM management servers in my environment and four gateway servers, the gateway servers are communicating to the old SCOM server and i want to move them over to the new SCOM server.
I ran the powershell commands from this technet article and thought everything was under
control. But none of the GW servers started communicating with the new SCOM server.
I have of course checked the certificates, hosts file, DNS and firewalls, and i reran the MOMCertImport.exe utility. Also checked that the certificate serial number was correctly inserted to the registry after the MOMCertImport.exe was run. (HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft
OperationsManager\3.0\Machine Settings, binary value named ChannelCertificateSerialNumber contains the serial number of the certificate in a reverse order)
Still i was unable to get the GW server to communicate to the correct management server so i decided i to reinstall the GW server so I could set the name of the new SCOM management server during the GW setup. Before i did the reinstall i ran the Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.GatewayApprovalTool.exe
with the /Delete parameter, the command ran successfully.
When i do the install i still cannot get the communication up and running, the GW server gives me the following errors in the eventlog.
The GW server appears in my Management Servers list but stays in the Not monitored state.
    Event ID: 20057
Failed to initialize security context for target MSOMHSvc/<ServerFQDN> The error returned is 0x80090303(The specified target is unknown or unreachable). This error can apply to either the Kerberos or the SChannel package.
    Event ID: 20071
The OpsMgr Connector connected to tmg-app92.mg.local, but the connection was closed immediately without authentication taking place. The most likely cause of this error is a failure to authenticate either this agent or the server . Check the event log on the server and on the agent for events which indicate a failure to authenticate.
    Event ID: 21001
The OpsMgr Connector could not connect to MSOMHSvc/<ServerFQDN> because mutual authentication failed. Verify the SPN is properly registered on the server and that, if the server is in a separate domain, there is a full-trust relationship between the two domains.
    Event ID: 21016
OpsMgr was unable to set up a communications channel to <ServerFQDN> and there are no failover hosts. Communication will resume when <ServerFQDN> is available and communication from this computer is allowed.
I have installed new certificated on both GW and management server, and i did the SCOM GW installation multiple times, but the issue is the same and the eventlog error also are the same.
Does anyone have any clue to what might be wrong?
    Thanks!
    Bjørn

    Hi,
After you deleting the gateway with Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.GatewayApprovalTool.exe, the gateway object is only marked as deleted in databases. Therefore, try to use different name for the new installed gateway, so the old parameters will not
be associated with the new gateway.

  • Gateway Server Issue

    Hello,
Following is the issue that I'm having.
I've 2 management servers and ADCS configured on Active Directory. I've a couple of servers in the workgroup that I need to monitor. I didn't configured gateway servers because there are only 2 workgroup servers. I've successfully imported the certificates
using MOMImport.exe. on SCOM management servers and also on the WORKGROUP servers. However I don't see the workgroup servers in the pending servers.
I checked the event ID on the workgroup servers and I got the following Event IDs.
EVent ID 21006: The opsMgr connector could not connect to SCOM:5723. The error code is 11001L(no such host is know)
Event ID : 21023 OpsMgr has no configuration for management group SCOM and is requesting new configuration from the Configuration service.
The firewall is disabled on the all servers. I'm not sure what is going on.
I've followed a lot of blogs and technets answer, but i'm still having issues.
    Any help will be apprecaited.
    Thanks

I've figured it out the problem. Ive resolved it by going through the following steps.
1st issue was DNS entry. After entering the DNS of the work group machine I got the EVENT ID 21007 on the workgroup computer.
That lead me to check my certificate names which were not correct so I changed it to the FQDN of my SCOM server and on the workgroup computer I changed it to the computer name. Re-imported the certs and boom.
NOTE make sure certificates name and friendly name are same as of the FQDN otherwise it will not work.
Kevingreen blog really explained it well. Below is the link

  • Gateway server cant comunicate with managemant server

    Hi all,
I have some issues with a gateway server. So I've installed the new server following Microsoft documentation. I've add the new server in OP console, I can see him but is unmonitored. I've installed same certificate on both servers in Trusted store (computer).
ON GW I've check and 5723 it's opened. On GW I have this errors:
    EV 20057, OpsMgr Connector
Failed to initialize security context for target MSOMHSvc/computer The error returned is 0x80090303(The specified target is unknown or unreachable).  This error can apply to either the Kerberos or the SChannel package.

Failed to initialize security context for target MSOMHSvc/computer The error returned is 0x80090303(The specified target is unknown or unreachable).  This error can apply to either the Kerberos or the SChannel package.
    EV 21001, OpsMgr Connector
The OpsMgr Connector could not connect to MSOMHSvc/copscomsvr01.corp.local because mutual authentication failed.  Verify the SPN is properly registered on the server and that, if the server is in a separate domain, there is a full-trust relationship
    between the two domains.
    EV 20071, OpsMgr Connector
The OpsMgr Connector connected to copscomsvr01.corp.local, but the connection was closed immediately without authentication taking place.  The most likely cause of this error is a failure to authenticate either this agent or the server .  Check
the event log on the server and on the agent for events which indicate a failure to authenticate.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Please check the registry. Go to the OPS reg hive and check if the FQDN name is supplied for the Networkname and AuthenticationName. If this doesn’t match your certificate common name you will get the 20071 event.
Just change it and restart the OpsMgr service.

  • Gateway server in non trusted domain

I have been trying to monitor a non trusted domain from SCOM 2012 R2. All servers are running Server 2012 R2 and this is running in a home lab.
I have added the trusted root certificate to both the gateway server and the SCOM management server.
    SCOM Management Server is OM01.Corp.ViaMonstra.Com.
    Gateway Server is BMC-DC01.BMC.Intern.
Both of these servers have the trusted root cert for ViaMonstraRootCA.
I then created a OpsMgr certificate by copying the ipsec(offline request) and making a new template. This has server and client authentication.
I requested this on both the gateway server and the management server and exported it from the user store and into the local computer store (with the private key).
I also ran MOMCERTIMPORT on both servers, only one cert showed up on each server which was the one I created and imported into the personal area of the local computer store.
I have checked that the FQDN name of the management server appears in the required opsmanager registry keys and also the required tls2.1 keys are in place.
I have also run the gateway approval tool which can with success and installed the gateway server role using the opsmgr install media.
I see the event 20053 stating the opsmgr connector has loaded the specified authentication certificate succesfully.
Yet I will get the events 20057,21001,20071,21016
Any ideas what else I can try?

  • OPSMGR Connector

I'm getting this 21006 Error.  I've checked the firewalls and there is connectivity.  Any help would be appreciated.
The OpsMgr Connector could not connect to myserverscsm01:5723.  The error code is 10061L(No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.).  Please verify there is network connectivity, the server is running and has registered
it's listening port, and there are no firewalls blocking traffic to the destination.

    Hi,
This error should be caused by that the agent is unable to connect to Management Server.
Verify agent can resolve Management Server address and FQDN by using telnet command:
    telnet myserverscsm01(FQDN) 5723
What is your Operation Manager version?
We may need to check certificates that used for the management server.
Please restart the Health service on the RMS.

  • Event ID: 1280 Server 2012 RDS - web app fail on second session host

    Hello there
    Topography
    SBS 2011 (domain controller)
    Two VM’s:
VM1 – All RDS rolls: RD Gateway , Connection broker, Licensing and RD access installed and acting as a session host with an active collection for RD web apps. A CA trusted certificate is installed.
VM2 – Session host with a second collection for RD web apps
    Problem
I have a single app installed on both session hosts (the apps require their own servers). Both appear on the RDWeb site available for use.  I can run the app hosted on VM1 no problem, but when I try to open the second app hosted on VM2 I get
    two issues:
    An error is returned
“Your computer can’t connect to the remote computer because the Remote Desktop Gateway server address and the certificate subject name do not match. Contact your network administrator for assistance".
When viewing the certificate, it actually shows the CA cert installed on the
SBS server for RWW, not the cert on VM1. This has me puzzled
Secondly on VM 2, I get
Event ID: 1280 Warning Microsoft Windows TerminalServcies-session broker client
Remote Desktop Services failed to join the Connection Broker on server sever-vm1.local.
Error: Current async message was dropped by async dispatcher, because there is a new message which will override the current one.
When I run the app internally it seems to load but then disappears.
Some further config info if it is relevant:
I have port 4043 (443 used) as the only port directed to the gateway
Am I missing something simple? DNS? Port forwarding issue on the router?  Its my first deployment of this nature with RDS 2012

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Firstly please check the RDP version you are using. I suggest you to update to RDP 8.1 for better feature and functionality. Now other thing verify that you have the RD Gateway certificate name matches the external FQDN of the RD Gateway Server. Also please
check that certificate is added under local computer\personal store and must be signed by trusted root authority.
Please check below article for more detail.
TS Gateway Certificates Part III: Connection Time Issues related to TS Gateway Certificates
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rds/archive/2008/12/18/ts-gateway-certificates-part-iii-connection-time-issues-related-to-ts-gateway-certificates.aspx
In regards to resolve other issue (Event ID 1280), identify and fix any connectivity problems between the RD Session Host server and the RD Connection Broker by doing the following:
    • Check network connectivity to the RD Connection Broker.
    • Start the Remote Desktop Connection Broker service.
    • Add the RD Session Host server to the Session Broker Computers group.
    More information.

  • RD Gateway Manager - Unable to read RD Gateway Server Settings

I'm trying to install a Remote Desktop Gateway into my domain, but I am running into a serious road-block... when I load RD Gateway Manager to configure the service, there is nothing to configure because it won't load my server into the console. When I try
to connect to it manually, it returns the following error:
"Unable to read RD Gateway Server Settings"
There are no errors or warnings in Event Viewer. I can verify that C:\Windows\System32\tsgateway\rap.xml exists and is readable. I can verify that Network Policy does have a TS_CAP_01 policy and it is enabled. A valid certificate was applied during setup
(and I've also tried choosing ask me later).
I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the role service (including manually verifying that the policies are removed). I also have this working on another domain server, so I'm at a loss for what to look for... How can I resolve this so that I
    can finish configuring the service?

    Hello,
    Thanks for your post.
From your description, I understand that you’re trying to install the RD Gateway role on a Windows Server 2008 R2-based domain computer. However, after the role
is install, the RD Gateway Manager cannot be loaded into the RD Gateway Manager. The error prompts “Unable to read RD Gateway Server Settings”.
Based on my experience, the issue may be caused by problematic installation or startup of the RD Gateway role. Before we troubleshoot the issue further, I recommend
you to enable the Audit level logging in the Event Viewer and double-check the related clues in the event viewer. To do that, please use the following steps:
    1.
On the RD Gateway server open RD Gateway Manager. To open RD Gateway Manager, click
Start, point to Administrative Tools, point to
Remote Desktop Services, and then click RD Gateway Manager.
    2.
In the console tree, right-click the node that represents your RD Gateway server, which is named for the computer on which the RD Gateway server is running, and then
    click Properties.
    3.
    On the
Auditing tab, select or clear the appropriate check boxes to specify the events that you want to monitor for RD Gateway, and then click
    OK.
When these events occur, you can monitor the corresponding events by using Windows Event Viewer. RD Gateway Manager server events are stored in Event Viewer under
    Application and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows\Terminal Services-Gateway\.
Let us know the result if possible. We’d like to help further based on your information replied. Thanks.

  • RD Gateway Manager fails with "Unable to read RD Gateway Server Settings"

The question is: Why can't I connect RD Gateway Manager on the local RD Gateway server?
A month ago, I successfully configured a RD Gateway and to work with a RD Session Host.  I set up the RDG CAP and RAP policies.  I successfully tested connectivity through the gateway.
Today, I tried to access the RD Gateway Manager and now I'm getting the following pop-up message:
"Unable to read RD Gateway Server Settings"
Everything still works and I am able to confirm that NPS is running the CAP policy that I configured in RD Gateway Manager.
The certificate is from a trusted source.  The Event Log does not show any errors.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Please let us know some more information.
Did you make any change after setting up the server correctly?

  • SCOM Gateway Server Issue

    Hi All
I am having an issue related with my LAB Gateway server with SCOM 2012 SP1
I am having 2 Management server and 3 gateway server in my LAB. Now I am trying to install a new Gateway server. But its not showing in Management server list. Its showing as a SCOM Client. have any one faced this issue or any idea.
    Your earlier response is appreciated.

    Hi,
Whether the gateway server is listed under pending management, if it is, try to remove it from here before running the approval.
Please also go through the below similar thread for more details:
SCOM 2012 R2 Gateway installation error and no System Center Management server after install
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ce6d0a73-c31d-4c26-85d4-d3cce35d48c3/scom-2012-r2-gateway-installation-error-and-no-system-center-management-server-after-install?forum=operationsmanagerdeployment
    Please follow the below steps:
    1) Validate that the gateway server can ping the Management Server that it will need to communicate with and can telnet to port 5723. Also validate that the OpsMgr Management Server can ping the Gateway server. If traffic doesn’t route between these systems,
or they cannot resolve each others names, or they cannot communicate on port 5723 the Gateway will not function.
    2) Install the gateway server from the OpsMgr media (Gateway management server).
When installing, choose the Management Server that we have determined will be the primary Management Server for gateway servers in the environment and configure the gateway to run as local system.
    3) Next if required in the OpsMgr console we delete the agent from pending management if it appears in that view.
    4) Perform the approval of the gateway by transferring the Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.GatewayApprovalTool.exe from the installation media to the appropriate path to run it from (c:\program files\System Center Operations Manager 2012\Server is the default
    location)

  • Getting 34208 Events in IIS server after come out from Maintenance mode

    Hi Experts,
We are monitoring .Net application(APM) in our environment(SCOM 2012 SP1).  We are putting all the servers in Maintenance mode on every sunday(Weekly Maintenance), after come out from MMode  getting 34208 events in OPSMGR Logs, particularly from
    IIS servers(APM).
Do we have any fix for that like cumulative update?
Can we put IIS server into Maintenance mode? If we put in MMode, Will it affect monitoring??
Expecting your reply.. Thanks in advance!!!
    Regards
    Karthick

    Thanks for reply Agrawal!
I know that we won't get alerts if the servers are in Maintenance mode.  But we are getting 34208 events particularly from IIS servers(.Net Application Performance Monitoring - APM) as the result we are receiving warning alerts in SCOM console stating
that " Restart IIS service" which will affect other monitoring in the servers.
Is anyone getting this issue in your environment?  Generally we will get 34208 events while we adding new application in to IIS server.  But here we are getting this events after the server come out from MMode.
Kindly provide your valuable suggestions.  Thanks!
    Regards

  • Rebooting Gateway server drops all clients in a serverfarm?

    Hi,
I just rebooted my gateway server (Win2012R2) and all clients in entire RDS farm (3 RDSH servers) was kicked (logged off).
    Is this normal behavior?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Please specify if you can find any Event ID for this issue on any server.
As per my research, if you force your client connection passing through the RD Gateway and then if you will restart RD Gateway then naturally client get disconnected from their session. Because the connection is passing through Gateway client can’t find connection
path and thus the connection drops.
Please go through below article for information regarding RD Gateway.
