Optical Illusion....Explain This!

Greetings All!
Here is an optical illusion I would like to hear some opinions about. The photo was taken by myself.
It is a picture of one of three legs of a clocktower. The legs are curved down and outwards.
The reflection that you are seeing in the leg, is a reflection of the top of the clocktower....twice!
Once facing towards the top and one facing downwards.
There appears to be a "joining" of the two images in the middle.
The question is...."WHY?"
Any takers?!

The shiny curved surface is acting like a concave mirror (googe concave mirror physics for a detailed explanation with photos).  It has to do with how the curved surface reflects light rays to a focal point, past which the reflected image becomes inverted.  I'm guessing you were near this focal point, and the varied curvature of the upper and lower portion of the reflective surface in relation to you (the lower portion is closer than the rear and at a steeper angle) caused the upper portion of the surface to be on one side of the focal point and appear upright, while the lower surface is on the other side of the focal point causing it to be inverted.

    OPTICAL ILLUSION IN AFTER EFFECTS
    Although optical illusion looks great in final composed video, however my major concern is on rendering time, I spent long time to create few trial videos of just 30 seconds due to rendering time.
    Here below are the videos of my creations where I used optical flares. In the 1st video below you will find a missle strike scene, this took approx 20 mins to render. It is a very simple scene.
    Comming to 2nd video, it had lot of details with 4 compositions (Eye, Left Eye, Right Eye, Face Modification) to work with. But still it took approx just 2 mins to render.
    Both of the below videos have one thing in common that is particular effect.
    My question is:::::
    What would have made the rendering time to slow down in 1st video? And How to tackle this situation?

    I'm facing a strong optical illusion. In the Jpg here, please look the big X and the other patern half on the yellow thing and the blue thing...
    Notice how the Gray color turn somewhat blue ?. this is done by the yellow background and if you turn it off, everything is perfect.
    Is this a flaw in flash cs4 ? or is it a way to find that probleme ?
    I've tried to "cheat" and change the color of one of the element to match the other one on the screen, however, it is near impossible because basiquely, you are creating an optical illusion to fix another optical illusion
    Any clue how to fix that ?.. i'm surely not the first to hit this.

    The static section shall be loaded before it's constructor is called. (i.e at the time of loading the class). Therefore making it available for any other objects to call.

    JNDI needs some property such as the
    java.naming.factory.initial
    java.naming.provider.url
    which are needed by the
    InitialContext(env);
    where env is a properties object
    Now if you can not find the physical property file on the class path
    by AtccJndiTemplate.class.getResourceAsStream(this.jndiProperties);
    where the String "jndiProperties" get injected by certain IOC ( inverse of control container ) such as Spring framework
    if not found then it will take the property from the system which will come from the evniromental variables which are set during the application start up i.e through the command line
    java -Djava.naming.factory.initial=com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory -Danother=value etc..

  • Trying to understand RSTP - Please can someone explain this?

    Hi Group
    I am still confused about how RSTP is implemented. From what i understand the major difference is that STP
    used Timers for Loop prevention whereas RSTP coordinates between neighbors via messages (proposal/aggreement) to turn on links
    more quickly after topology changes and is "timer free".
    However, I have not noticed any difference in the configuration from the legacy STP
    configurations and the RSTP configuration on cisco devices. Or are there any differences??
    I have read in documentation that RSTP natively includes features like UplinkFast, BackboneFast and PortFast. So are these features now obsolete
    and not needed to be configured if you are running RSTP. (Although i have seen Portfast still configured along with RSTP on many switches)
    Also can someone explain the below Points from Cisco Documentation
    1) should STP be disabled on edge ports all together as suggested below?
    "STP edge ports are bridge ports that do not need STP enabled, where loop protection is not needed out
    of that port or an STP neighbor does not exist out of that port. For RSTP, it is important to disable STP
    on edge ports, which are typically front-side Ethernet ports, using the command bridge
    bridge-group-number spanning-disabled on the appropriate interface. If RSTP is not disabled on edge
    ports, convergence times will be excessive for packets traversing those ports."
    2) It seems RSTP relies on duplex setting to determine inter-switch links. What is the configuration to explicitly
    configure RSTP link types? (I couldnt find this in the documentation)
    "RSTP can only achieve rapid transition to the forwarding state on edge ports and on point-to-point links.
    The link type is automatically derived from the duplex mode of a port. A port that operates in fullduplex
    is assumed to be point-to-point, while a half-duplex port is considered as a shared port by

    Also i am a bit rough on my RSTP knowledge even after skimming a few Cisco documents. Can someone please explain this in simple way.

    to configure it on a device:-
    spanning-tree mode rapid-pvst
    PortFast/UplinkFast & BackboneFast were cisco "Enhancements" to 802.1d STP. RSTP just incorperates them. If you want to configure portfast, the command is still "spanning-tree portfast"

    1) That is your choice - I have bitter experiance of users/IT admins just plugging hubs/switches in when ever they can. Also cabling the switch back to itself creating a cabled loop. So my advice to you is to leave STP enabled on all switch ports, BUT enable BPDUGuard - this is a life saver, if you have configured portfast.
    2) duplex auto! or duplex full (overiding)
    I really suggest that you read the 802.1d standard, once you understand normal spanning-tree - RSTP will come to you.

    all less than 5 chars wide. Most interesting: the value of p_param2 had nothing whatever to do with v_var.

    Pull the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule
    Wait a few minutes
    Plug the power cord back in

    can any one please explain this behavior.
    1. oracle tells us that when the full table scans are performed db file scattered event appears but here clearly db file parallel read was occuring.
    2. as the table was going through the full table scan as oracle 11gr2 default behavior will not cache the blocks that are part of the table going through the full table scan is this the reason why the db file parallel read wait event was occuring.
    3. clearly in the explain plan it used a view called VW_DAG_0 which is inexistant on the database is this a bug or this is the behavior of oracle optimizer to create a view.
    4. before collecting any statistics on the table when the same sql statement to count is executed a lot of db file parallel read waits appeared, can any one please explain this behavior.
    5. while doing the full table scans if the oracle shows the waits as db file parallel read (occurs when the recovery or parallel processes are used), but is this behavior changed.
    finally,
    6. can any one please explain the difference between the db file parallel read and db file scattered read.
