Optical Out 5. not working?Hi everyone.
I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express card on a windows XP SP3 PC.
I connected the optical OUT to a Sony 5. Home Theather system, DTS and Dolby Digital capable.
When I configure the creative console to output 5. channels, and use the tone or channel tests, I can only hear the front left and front right channels, the others make no sound. My receiver says it's receiving a 2.0 signal, but If I listen to stereo music files or movies, the sound comes out wrong, with low volume and a weird metallic sound. If I set the console to 2., this problem disapears.
Using powerDVD with a 5. DVD, and setting it's options to SPDIF passthrough, the sound it's a perfect 5..
The same happens with Mediaplayer classic using the AC3Filters, and configuring the filter for SPDIF passthrough.
The problem is that the Creative Console doesn't let me choose SPDIF passthrough, I don't have the Digital I/O icon that the help describes and I don't have the mode switcher (it's fixed on Entertainment mode).
What am I doing wrong?

Sorry, I mistook your card for another model. There is no option to select SPDIF passthrough. The Digital Out for this card is always on.
Please note that optical cable will only carry pcm stereo or compressed bit stream AC3, dts. That's the reason you are getting stereo when stereo music files. How many channels you get when playing movies depends on how the movie is encoded too.
I am not sure what is that weird metallic sound, it would be advisable to contact Customer Support to see if they can help you on this.

Based on your posting, your Home Theater System is already doing the decoding. Please note that optical cable will only carry pcm stereo or compressed bit stream AC3, DTS.
That's the reason you are getting stereo when playing music files. Whether you are getting surround or stereo channels when playing movies depends on how the movie is encoded too. I am not sure about that weird metallic sound, it would be advisable to contact Customer Support to see if they can help you on this.

Login into XI Developement and give SE37 Transaction. Then you give SXMS_ALERT_ERROR_RECEIVE and click 'display'.
Then you check for the methods CL_XI_ALERT HAS_ACTIVE_RULE, CL_XI_ALERT_UTIL GET_MDT_URL, CL_XI_ALERT CREATE_ALERT and make the changes according to service notes. If you dont find this methods in this function then you can try in SXMS_ALERT_ERROR_SEND.

Read Out loud is not working

I can't get some PDF to read out loud. Any idea why? I am able to select and copy the texts so it's not an image for sure. If I paste the texts to word or some other app, I can use the text to speech from my Mac OS to read out loud and it's working fine. Any suggestion is much appreciated.

Here's something new. This is one, http://www.ponemon.org/local/upload/file/NokNokWP_FINAL_3.pdf, of the many files that read out loud did not work. After reading your email, I thought I tried something new. The PDF in this link here read out loud fine in Safari and Chrome browser but when I downloaded to my computer it did not work in both Reader or Pro v11.0.10. I have a MacBook Pro Yosemite. That is very strange.

You have to format your Windows volume and install Windows 7. First, insert the Windows 7 DVD and hold the C key while your computer is starting. Then, follow the steps and, at partitioning step, choose your Windows volume (it's the last volume listed in your display), choose Advanced options, and format it. Then, install Windows.
Finally, after installing it, install the Boot Camp support software > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1630

Video out to tv not working

Hello,
I just unpacked my new iPod classic and wanted to use the video out option to watch a movie from my new iPod on my TV. Somehow I can get the "TV Out" setting to say "ask" or "TV" like on my last iPod video 5.5. Does anybody know what is causing this problem or do I have to return the item? It´s a real bugger!
I also experienced the click wheel response is very, very slow!

From what I have read, no, what you wish to do will not work. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I hope that it's possible for Apple to rectify this problem with a firmware update. If that's not possible (e.g. it's a hardware-based problem), they should just issue a recall of all classics, fix the hardware, and rerelease it later after the problem has been corrected.
It is unimaginable to me that Apple could have intended to invalidate monumental quantities of third-party (and even their own!) accessories for those who bought the new classics and touches and nanos. I mean, these are some of Apple's best customers: those who have purchased multiple iPods and bought into the whole accessory market too. Most companies are hesitant to burn their best customers like this, and for good reason: this kind of stuff can easily turn loyal customers into former customers, and via word-of-mouth can also turn potential customers into non-customers.

I have just updated my iPhone 4 with latest IOS 7 and now wi fi greyed out and Bluetooth not working. Tried reset, restore everything - no use. Its out of warranty too. I refuse to pay for a new phone when clearly this is an apple issue not phone issue.

I have not had wifi since November when I upgraded to the newest IOS version. I called the Apple help line and they told me some things to do and I tried them all and they worked for a few hours and then wifi shut off again. I kept doing what they told me and it worked for a couple more days and then I could never turn it on again. My blue tooth doesn't work either. I had to actually increase my data usage with AT&T becuase of this. When I did that in December I went to the Apple store and was told that it is a hardware issue and since my phone is out of warranty I would have to pay for a new phone because they could not fix the issue. My upgrade isn't up until June 2014 so not only do I have to wait for the upgrade and I am not paying for a new phone but I have to pay $10 plus extra a month on my cell phone bill because I was going over on my Data!!! I have been beyond upset about this and Apple is not doing anything about this nor did they offer up some way to resolve the issue because obviously it is not just some rare incident if several people are having this issue. Who knows how many people out there have had this issue and have not said anything about it. Now there is a newer update that I can't do because it requires wifi in order to download.
June can not get here fast enough and I may not go back to Iphone after dealing with this for so long with no help from Apple.

JDK 1.6_07 with Windows: System.out.flush() does not work...

I wonder if this is a known issue: Since I upgrade the jdk1.6 version to the _07 pack, text IO does not work anymore with WinXP cmd.exe window. Assuming a static import of System.out, I use:

out.print(pr); //pr is a prompt string...
out.flush();
}works as usual with Unix/Linux, but with windows nothing will be written to the terminal, until I make at least one input. In that case a barrage of cached prompts appear all at once.
Do we have a bug for it, can we work around somehow?

Show a small sample program that compiles and exhibits the problem when executed.

Adobe Read Out Loud feature not working

Anyone else run into this. We activate it, it scans the document looking for tags, then does not read it. Any ideas?

Just been trying to sort this one out myself, I noticed that you tried re-installing Adobe Reader with the same result.
Could it be that, when you installed the first time / updated and then re-installed, Adobe Reader Protected Mode was automatically re-applied by default. Read Out Loud will not function while in Protected Mode.
You must disable it to hear Read Out Loud document reader, it is quite safe to disable this additional security function, and the only way to make it work.
To disable Adobe Reader XI Protected Mode
- Open Adobe Reader
- Click menu item Edit
- Select Preferences
- Preference panel opens
- Select Security (Enhanced) in Categories list
- Uncheck Enable Protected Mode at Startup
- Dialog opens Click Yes
- Close Preferences
- Close/Restart Adobe Reader
- Open a document you wish to read
- Activate Read Out Loud
- Choose Option to read Page or Whole Document
- or setup for Reading with the Accessability Assistant.
Hope this is the answer you are looking for, my Read Out Loud feature is functioning fine now it had me baffled for a while, thought my sound card was malfunctioning.

Reader X: Read Out Loud function not working; no voice output

I was using this function in the Reader 9.4 but the voice got the text a bit garbled at times, so I thought I'd try the latest version of the Reader and see if the passage was less garbled. Reader X has no voice output at all, even after setting and confirming accessability config. I messed with all 3 options of text buffering. I know the pdf file I'm viewing is ocr not image (at least Reader 9.4 could read it w/ a bit of it being garbled). Not sure what else to try; Text Aloud voices still work in that application.

I'm just now bumping into the problem again. I've got choices in "preferences - reading" of 3 AT&T voices and the default MS voice. I prefer the AT&T Voices that I got from text aloud. But they don't work even if I can point to one of them via preferences. But the default MS voice works I found out, eventaully. I guess I'm OK w/ just that voice available to me rather than "enabling protected start up" and reinstalling the AT&T voices (think that's what you suggest to do). BTW, "enabling protected start up" is already set so maybe this would not work. Also not sure I have the voices on disk so... can I even reinstall them?

But one problem is that only the sound-out port of the back panel is not working where as mic-in and sound-in port of rear panel are working perfectly..
Before upgrading means in windows xp all ports are working,,,,

To reset the Preferences, follow the following steps:
1. Launch Welcome Screen.
2. Press Ctrl + Alt + Shift keys (keep these pressed)
3. Click the Editor button of Welcome Screen.
4. It will launch a dialog box, asking to delete preferences.
5. Click Yes, and let the preference file rebuild. It won't take much time.
See if resetting preference helps.

Out of Office not working

I got stuck around a issue where in out of office is not working .. although I am able to set back out of office from outlook and OWA but do not receive any response for either internal or external . There are no rules in-place , also tried deleting IPM.Note.Rules.OofTemplate.Microsof

1.Please disable the out of office and re enable it again and at the same time please check the oof is enabled on the owa.

2.Check the event logs on the mailbox server for the event ID "3004"
3.On problematic user mailbox ,just take a backup of all the rules from outlook client and then delete those rules and then disable the OOF and re enabled it again.If we have the crossed the rules quota thenOOF message will not generated from that mailbox as
well as we will be getting the event ID 3004 on the mailbox servers.
If In case on the above step if you don't wanted to delete the existing rules then we can increase the rules quota size and check the oof message is generated or not.

4.To check it is for an single user or else for the whole organisation you can make use of creating the test mailboxes and check the results.
If the problem is on the organisation wide : -

2.Then make sure the EWS url's are properly configured on the exchange servers as well as check the autodiscover funtionality too.
3.Then for the remote domains to receive oof message we need to allow external oof messages on the remote domain configuration .

Pinch in and out on trackpad not working to zoom in and out in firefox

Ever since i bought my macbook pro (early 2011) I was able to use the pinch in and out trackpad feature to zoom in and out in firefox. This suddenly stopped working a couple of days ago. It still works in safari so this seems to be Firefox specific. All other trackpad features are still working too.
I uninstalled Firefox on my mac by moving the Firefox icon to the trash and downloaded/installed it again. Note that i didn't delete my profile (just deleted the Firefox icon) so all bookmarks were preserved even after downloading and installing Firefox from scratch. This didn't help fixing the issue.
Any ideas on this problem ? how to fix it?

All these programs seem to be for windows. I am facing the issues with firefox on a macbook pro.
I wasn't suggesting resetting Firefox. I have already done this step a couple of days ago as I was facing connectivity issues with some websites completely freezing and not loading. reset didn't help. I started seeing the trackpad issue around the time i did the reset.
I am wondering if uninstalling Firefox and deleting all data associated with it (profiles etc) would fix the issue. Can you advise on what should be deleted with firefox?

Apple Mail and Exchange Out of Office Not Working

Has anyone had issues with Yosemite Mail and setting Out of Office for Exchange 2010?
I can set Mail to send Out of Office replies but cannot change the scheduled dates from 2/12/1982, 10:00 AM. Even when I do set it, it does not seem to send the OOO notifications. I can set it just fine on my iPhone 6 and Mavericks Mail worked fine for setting the OOO.
I deleted my account several times and reset it and I can get all my Mail back just fine but OOO still doesn't work correctly. I wanted to try to change the server settings but Mail doesn't allow you to do that for auto connect Exchange accounts.
Because of this (and my concern with reported issues with updating meetings), I switched back to Outlook 2011 until these bugs get ironed out. This is too bad because I love the notifications feature for Apple's programs.
I'm running on a 2014 13" MacBook Pro.
