    ray,
We just moved a couple of those CPUs the other day.  Can you indicate your location with the name of a city near you?  A user group might be nearby.

  • I have a serious issue with static (clicking sounds) when I use Netflix streaming along with any movies I rent via AppleTV, and yes I use a optical audio cord.  Any suggestions?

Was is most interesting, is that if I watch other content like MLB TV using the sound bar and optical cable, I don't have this issue, it's all very strange.  Any suggestions?

Perhaps it's obvious to you, but what would I adjust in the midi settings?  There's nothing obvious that speaks to this out of sync issue.
FYI, I just plugged my JBL creatures into the audio out (same physical jack as the digital out, though of course they use different technologies) and there is no sync problem with the audio played through them.  Clearly it's an issue with the digital out, just wish I could figure out if it's my stereo or something in the computer.  I have no other devices that accept a digital input, so can't swap the stereo out for anything else.

  • I HATE THE MAGIC MOUSE! Any suggestions for a solid alternative for graphics use?

I have the 27" Intel Based Mac and LOVE the machine...brilliant, beautiful, fast! I also LOVE the wireless keyboard...light, responsive, awesome! But I HATE the Magic Mouse...hate hate hate! I work with Adobe programs (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Mastersuite CS5) and the mouse control and scroll are all over the place. I need precision control. I need the mouse to stay where I want it to and scroll when I ask it and not scroll when I need to be zoomed in at 6400%.
Now, There HAS to be a good, solid user controlled wireless mouse that works well with the mac! Please HELP!!
Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

What is the problem with just using a good old fashioned WIRED mouse?  When we spec computers for purchase for use by our graphic design, animation and digital photo student lab systems, we always go with a wired mouse..  Better control and more reliable operation are the reasons.  The fact that they are less likely to "wander off" is another big plus for us.
We also go with wired, with numeric keypad, keyboards so we do not have to worry about batteries going down on either mouse or keyboard./  Yep, it is a step backward in technology but reliablity and ease of use trumps "bleeding edge" technology in this case.
If you want you can also have the Magic Mouse on the system but either shut off or stuck up in some corner of the desk where you won't hit it by accident.  That way if you do decide you need the "touch pad" features, they are still available.

  • Wired Mouse Randomly Jumping

I have been using a basic optical wired mouse on my mac pro for about a year now but just recently (past day or two) the cursor has started jumping around when I move it.
    - I have checked to make sure everything is still connected well
    - I have tried several other mice but all have the same problem
    - The mouse pad can't be the problem since it is the same one I have been using prior to the cursor problems. Even so, I tried it on a darker surface which did not help.
I looked at several other posts with similar problems but couldnt find a good solution. This is extremely irritating as I am a 3d artist so any help would be appreciated!

The same here. I have an M-Audio fast track interface and when I turn it on, Mighty Mouse is no longer mighty; it jumps, goes crazy and does not respond to commands. I turn off the interface and goes back to normal. Also, I would turn the mouse off and on again, and it would work fine for, say, five minutes and then, would go back to its abnormal behavior.
I am now using my normal wired mouse and had no problem today with my editing and CG work. Are there any suggestions?
    Thank you

My mac mini only shows a steady power light and fan noise when powered up. No video or sound and no commumication with wired keyboard or optical mouse. Tried replacing internal battery and resetting PMU/SMC but nothing seemed to happen.  Any suggestions? Many thanks! Richard

You've already done the two things I would have suggested.
If your Mini has an internal battery then I assume it's a G4. That means you've gotten a lot of good years of service from it, and it's old enough that it's certainly not covered by AppleCare anymore, and it's probably not worth spending money trying to repair it.
You should be able to tear it apart using instructions from ifixit.com to get the hard drive out, and then put the hard drive into a nice USB or FireWire enclosure (I like the ones from Other World Computing, macsales.com) so you can transfer your data to a replacement Mac.
I hope someone has another suggestion for you.

  • I have a 5 month old Magic Mouse and I want to replace the batteries for the first time but the battery door will not release any suggestions?

The battery compartment door on my Magic Mouse appears to be jammed shut and will not open, the device is only 5 months old and this is the first time I have needed to open it to change the batteries. Are there any suggestions?

It could be you are approaching it incorrectly.   It can be a tricky little gadget that actually works with minimal pressure.
Try turning over the mouse so the compartment panel faces you, optical sensor topmost.  Then holding the mouse at each side but not on the panel itself, flick the small, black rectangular panel downwards.   The top of the panel should spring out, though it may require you to manipulate it fully away from the mouse.
Once you have replaced the batteries, starting at the bottom reverse the procedure then clip into place.   Remember to move the small switch next to the optical sensor upwards which should turn on the green light.   Then click twice to connect.

  • Wireless Mouse and Keyboard don't work under bootcamp. Any suggestions?

I installed Windows 7 through Boot Camp. Everything works, but my wireless mouse and keyboard. If I add a wired mouse and keyboard, they work. Have reinstalled Bootcamp a few times, but when I try and add the devices. they are seen, but then can't pair.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Well, the 'unplugged' reference was noted earlier and I wasn't sure if you'd get a
better response than a standard suggestion to try the other ideas in this link first
•Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) - Apple Support
before actually performing the SMC, that is a dragnet kind of catch-all, sometimes.
All of my keyboard & mouse units are USB and I've gone as far as supplying the
mouse and other peripherals with a powered USB hub; so power from the Mac
isn't spread too thin. The keyboard is one of the only items that should be attached
to the USB port; as it has to work on startup pre-boot keyboard shortcuts... Such
as SafeBoot, PRAM reset, and others where you need a live keyboard and BT
may not be up to the task of being ready. Three going on four of my Macs have
bluetooth capabilities for those items; but I can't justify the continual upkeep cost.
Spare USB keyboards and a few extra mouse are handy as troubleshooting tools, too.
There are some USB keyboard references among search results in this linked page:
    https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Apple+USB+keyboard+troubleshooting
Perhaps the SMC pre-reset suggestions may help resolve the issue, if not, try reset.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • I have an old powerPC G4. dual 867 512 MB. my optical drive is having trouble reading my leopard installer.  I was going to try to use remote install but i don't have a network where I can connect both the mac and the windows laptop.  any suggestions?

I'm just trying to revive my old PowerPC G4/ dual 867MHz 512MB.  Unfortunately I am unable to install from disc since my optical drive, although still working, is somehow not able to read the leopard installer.  I wanted to try the remote install option but have limited resources and don't have a network where I can have both the Mac desktop and windows laptop communicate.  I read somewhere that I can use a crossover cable to connect the two directly.  I'm still trying to see if I can get an external DVD-ROM as another option.  Any suggestions?

Your Mac doesn't need a crossover cable, it auto-switches...

But I have no idea how that will help you install from a Windows computer.
If you get an external DVD drive it needs to be Firewire & Mac bootable.

  • I have a Mac running 10.9.2. My wireless mouse with not scroll in mail but works fine in other applications? Any suggestions?

I have a Mac running 10.9.2. My apple wireless mouse will not scroll in Mail but works fine in other applications.
    Any suggestions?

First, see this discussion. If the solution suggested there doesn't work for you, continue.
If you've installed a Mail plugin called "Mail Unread Menu" and you know how to remove it, please do that, then quit and relaunch Mail. Test. Otherwise, see below.
    Back up all data.
    1. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/Bundles
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder may open, or you may get an error message that the item can't be found. Either result is normal. If the folder does open and has contents, move the contents to the Desktop. Relaunch Mail and test. If there's no change, put the contents of the folder back and quit Mail again.
    2. Repeat with this line:
    /Library/Mail/Bundles
This time you may be prompted for your login password when you remove the items. Make sure they're removed from the folder and not just copied to the Desktop. If necessary, copy them first and then move the originals to the Trash.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

Did you reinstall CS3 after CC?
For that matter, doing an in-place upgrade on the OS is always a gamble with Adobe programs. Reinstalling all the versions you need, in order, would probably solve your problem.
And you shouldn't need to save as IDML after opening the .inx in CC.

  • TS3048 can't scroll up and down with wireless mouse, I have checked setting and everything looks good.  Any suggestions on what else I can check?

My wireless mouse has stopped scrolling up and down.  I have checked my settings and everything looks good.  Any suggestions on what else to check?

    Hi:
I wish my suggestion had gotten you further.
I do suggest you try to connect the keyboard again.  The request for a number is a step in it trying to pair.  If it gets by the number, it sometimes takes a little while to get connected.  If you are unable to get it connected and want a new one, I have been using Apple Bluetooth keyboards for years - and I like them. The one I have (the newest model) only uses two batteries and is very thin.
Speaking of batteries, if you are not already doing so, you might consider rechargeables.  I have a drawer full of them and use a 15 minute charger.  I go tired of buying batteries and rechargeables are environmentally friendly to boot. At the moment, I use 2450 mAh Energizers and a 15 minute Energizer charger (all purchased new on eBay at a very reasonable price).
I am far from an iPad "expert," although I have one.  If my suggestion below does not help, post your question in a separate thread in the iPad forum.
I had a terrible time syncing my iCal on my Mac with my iPad iCal (confusing - hopefully it makes sense).  I quit using iCloud as that added to the confusion. There is a facility to one-time sync items.  When you connect your computer to your iPad, iTunes opens.  The system begins a process (automatic backup and so on). After it finishes, you can click on "info."  At the bottom of the screen, there is an advanced section.  You can select any of the items and then force it to sync. The iCal information from your computer would be deposited on the iPad.
After all that, I do not use a Google calendar so the information may be worthless to you.
If you want to reset the iPad to factory settings, you can do that when it is connected to iTunes (one of the options).  Me being me, I try never to erase anything.

I find it extremely difficult to read books on my ipad 2 while sitting in the sun at the pool or the beach. Any suggestions?

If you put a towel over your head and ipad then it will block out the sun, and the ipad is easily visable. Just being difficult, but yeah that is one of thous little ipad short cummings that apple doesn't pitch in the nice cool commercials. For me, I have to essentually turn the brightness up fully for best results, still isn't perfect.
