Optimising render time: Which timeline elements/clip effects increase render time?

Hi,
I was just wondering if anybody had further information about Premiere's output render process, specifically the effect clip effects, tracks/layer and clip formats have on render time.
The reason I ask is I seem to be getting inconsistent file export/render times, some projects of similar length and on the same hardware seem to take significantly longer than others.
Essentially I am looking for timeline connfigurations/properties which adversely effect the final output render time. Any further information/documentation regarding this would be gratefully recieved.

I am essentially just trying to optimize workflow, as we are having quite high project throughput. So yes I would not use an effect, or think of a more efficient method to achieve said effect, if it was going to significantly bottleneck the workflow by several orders of magnitude, and yet only added negligible subjective aesthetic improvement.
It comes down to classic "Cost Benefit Analysis", thats why I was asking for technical documentation, to see if there is anything we are doing which is having a big hit on performance, which may have a more efficient alternative or may not improve the quality to a level which warrants to slowdown.

Since upgrading to firefox 4, pages open up at a greatly reduced size, and i have zoom in with ctl+ about 10 times, which is then remembered, so the next time it opens at the right size.

i just upgraded to firefox 4 grudgingly, as i had this same issue when i upgraded to ff3, which i ultimately dumped, and went back to an older version. pages open very very small and i have to zoom in, to fill the page, and make it readable. once i have done that, those proportions are somehow remembered, and from that point on, they will open up at a large size.
how can i get ALL pages to open up to a standard. predetermined size?
on a related note, the toolbars are also very small. can i make them larger somehow?

That is a problem with the Flash plugin.
You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

How to increase the time at the end of what aaa requeries the authentication of a client web

I configure ASA aaa to authentificate our internal web client to access to internet. It's check the username/password of client in our Active Directory.
When the client initiate the first connexion, the ASA request the login connexion and when it's correct, it authorise the access. But after 10 min for exemple, it's request again the login, and so one and so one. Approximativelly, after each ten minute, it requeste an username/password.
I want to know how can i increase the time between two authentifcation. Or increase the time of 10 min.

The authentication timeout is configurable via the "timeout uauth" command, and you can set either absolute or inactivity timeout.

We can not see your computer, your settings or even know what your source files are because we are not in the same room as you are!
We cant see what you are doing wrong ...so you will have to tell us a lot more and show us some screen grabs of your settings.

Work on more clips at the same time (premiere elements 11)

I will try to explain what happened to me when I tried to paste effects.
I copied the keyframe effects from the first clip, (selected the clip, right click, copy) Then selected the target clip and didn't pay attention to the postion of the timeline indicator which was about 1/3 of the way into it.
Subsequently, when I then selected "paste effects and adjustments" to this target clip, it did so, but the effects then began at that point where the timeline indicator was at.
So for a timing eg: Say the both clips are 10 seconds long with all the effects at the beginning within the first 5 seconds.
The indicatior was at about the 4 second mark in the target clip when pasting and that's where the 5 seconds of effects from the first clip started. (about 4 seconds in)
Since I didn't know about the shift key technique, I just discovered that moving the timeline indicator to the beginning of the target clip (first frame) and re-do the procedure, it resulted in the correct position and timing etc.

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? For now, assumed Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
Typically, if you increase the length of a video clip, you will create slow motion. If you decrease the length of a video clip, you will create fast motion effect.
You can right click the clip on the Timeline, select Time Stretch, and use the Time Stretch dialog's settings to change the video duration.

How to render our and export INDIVIDUAL clips on a sequence timeline

I searched, but can't seem to find exactly what i want which i am sure is simple.
I have a batch of clips shot underwater. I took them into FCP and colored them and set in/outs; set them on the timeline for color correction etc...Now in the sequence i have all of my clips colored and timed as i want them from this dive and i want to export them as INDIVIDUAL clips since these are merely color corrected Prores 422HQ clips (original media was red 4k) ....I will (once exported as individual clips) ingest and categorize each clip for my stock library. So all i am trying to do is get my color and time corrected clips out of the sequence or rather render them out as individual clips so i can file them on FCP server.

Hi -
Here is another way, that will do it as a batch -
Go to your project browser and create a new (empty) bin - you can call it "Export Clips".
Click anywhere on your timeline and type Command + A to select all the clips.
Drag the selected clips from the timeline into your newly created "Export Clips" bin.
You will see a Creating Master Clips dialog box while it is transferring the clips.
Now Control - Click on the "Export Clips" Bin and from the drop down menu choose Batch Export.
Click on the Settings button at the bottom of the Batch Export window and make sure you set your destination for your clips as well as checking the Use In and Out checkbox:

Otherwise it will export the entire source clip, not just the portion on your timeline -
When all set, press the Export button at the bottom of the Batch Export window and you should be good to go.

Clips need to render when first placing them in timeline?

The first time I drag a clip into the timeline (haven't done anything to it) FCP says it's unrendered. I don't see how this makes sense, I don't remember it being this way in the past.
Also--.mts clips unrecognized by the software, and are grayed out when I try to use the log & transfer function.

This is almost certainly because you have created a project with certain frame rate and resolution specifications, but then the clips you've placed on the timeline were shot with different frame rate and/or resolution specs. So naturally, FCP-X is doing what it's supposed to do -- it's asking that the clip(s) be rendered to match the specs of the timeline (project) into which you've placed them.

Action I’ve taken: I’ve re-installed Premiere Elements 13. Problem remains.

I tried using the Guest Account on my Mac. In the Guest Account, Illustrator works perfect!
Then I started wondering what processes (tools/tweaks) I run by default on my account. Turned out the problem was called by a little background tool called RightZoom. RightZoom let's the green 'zoom' button always maximize your current window.

Photoshop elements 12 won't load up on my PC. The first time I try to load it up I get a large egg timer, which lasts about 3 seconds. The programme then closes and if I try to load it again I get the circular icon which spins for 1 second and disappears.

Please try resetting preferences?
On Windows: Goto %appdata%\Adobe\Elements Organizer\12.0\Organizer folder and rename the files “psa.prf” (to say psa_old.prf) and “status.dat” (to say status_old.dat).
Try launching Organizer and see if it launches fine.

Every time i put a clip into the timeline it crashes and just has the color wheel i have to force quit the program.

I just downloaded the trial to see if I wanted to buy instead of using Adobe Premiere. Every time i put a clip into the timeline it crashes and just has the color wheel i have to force quit the program. I tried deleting the program and reinstalling it. Please help. Here are my specs

I have to render every time i move a clip!

i am a musician and im trying to use fcp to edit my videos to match my final product with my mp3 final project audio from garage band. i recorded in photobooth and recorded at the same time as garage band using my condenser mic for better audio. i changed my files to pro res 422, but every time i move any clip some portion needs to be re rendered, ive set the sequence to pro res 422 but i still cant figure out whats going on. i have a drum, piano, vocal, guitar videos that all match to the audio but i cant really do much when it takes 14 minutes to render a 3 minute clip.

Your problem stems from the video recording software you used. The clips in your browser are all showing as frame rates ranging from 9fps to 11fps. But your sequence is 29.97. FCP is trying to stretch those video files out to match the sequence frame rate, but it requires rendering to do so.
Some video capture programs produce videos that are in some way incompatible with FCP because FCP reads the fps wrong. Snapz Pro is one, there are probably others. If you actually recorded the files in 29.97, then you need to run them through compressor to make them FCP compatible. Choose a pro res preset, but make sure that in the video settings that 29.97 is selected (and not "current").

Hey hope all is well.
I created a project in PE 4. Well, in what's looking like a not-so-smart-move midproject, I upgraded to PE 9. I opened the original PE 4 projectin PE 9 and it plays fine but won't render in the timeline. So, all of my effects and such won't render for a preview. This is actually an important project so any help would he appreciate. Thanks!

This kind of behavior is common when a project is created with one version of the program and then opened with a newer version. This is why many of us on the forum (and I, in my book) recommend not doing this.
It's best to finish your version 4 project in version 4 and than start a fresh project in version 9.

First we need to check , whether the LAN settings is set to detect settings Automatically or not.
Follow below steps .
1)Open Control Panel and then click on the option "Network and Internet" .
2)Click on Internet options, click on 'Connections' tab.
3)In the 'Connections' tab, select 'LAN' settings, you will be able to view the Local area network settings box.
4)Check the box-"Automatically Detect Settings" and then "uncheck" all the other check boxes like 'Use automatic configuration script', 'Use a proxy server' , Bypass proxy server' ,then click on ok button .
5)Click on "LAN settings" button again , make sure "Automatically Detect Settings" is the only option selected, keep the LAN properties window open.
Then launch Premiere Elements 12 and try to sign in.
If the settings were already set like that or you face same issue after signing in , let me know
