Optimize Slide size for McBook display. Is 1280x792 the perfect format?

Using any of the proposed format in Keynotes 09 will leave you a dark bar on both left and right side. Hence I've changed the slide setting to 1280x792 and it really fits nicely on the screen for any display.
Haven't tried yet with a video projector or on printed material, yet I'm assuming people who will use the presentation will just view it on their laptop.
Have anyone of you tried this as well. Any experience to share? Thanks

AA and AAA rechargeables are great. One can usually charge up to four at a time with most chargers, and chargers that take an hour or less are available(the 5 minute chargers require special batteries and put excessi've strain on the batteries). They are also very inexpensi've. Carrying a few spares is no big deal. I have small plastic cases that were specifically made to hold 2 AA or AAA batteries and other cases specifically designed for 4 of them. I would hate to have to swap out the player battery, swap in the spare then plug the player in just to charge spares one at a time. Proprietary batteries are expensi've, while AA or AAA nimh rechargeables are often around $0 or so for 4(for the higher capacity ones. Slightly lower capacity ones are even cheaper).

I have researched and found out that the AAC format rules over the MP3 format as fas as sound quality goes with lossy formats. Example: AAC at 128 is better than MP3 at 160 as so forth. My questions are: What are the best settings for ripping cd's in the AAC format? Will I be able to burn cd mixes with the tracks I import into itunes after importing using the AAC format? It is a matter of opinion, but I suggest 256 kb/s, CBR, and leave all other settings on automatic.

Yes. Just put them in a playlist and burn.

Yes. You will see it as an option in the Import Settings.

EAC does a better job of correcting errors in damaged CDs, but for normal CDs iTunes does a fine job of ripping to AAC.

Change font size for {module_shoppingcartsummary} display

This is probably really simple, however I have defined a font size for a header in which I have placed the {module_shoppingcartsummary}. All items in the header dsiplay as reflected in my defined font size witht the exception of the displayed results for this module. How can I get the results for this module to diplay correctly?

Look into your system CSS files (either modulestylesheets.css, etc) this can easily be found using Firebug.
In my example it's located in the all.css file under .cartSummaryItem.

Converting Slide Size for Whole Presentation 06 - 08

My iWork 06 presentations are all 800x600 resolution. How do I convert a whole presentation into an iWork 08 widescreen (any other resolution) size?
I have opened a new presentation in Widescreen and cut and pasted all 800x600 slides from an 06 presentation; some of the slides adjust properly, some the dimensions get distorted and I have to readjust the whole slide. Any ideas?

1) Resolutions are globally set for each document. When you copy from one Keynote document to another, Keynote will automatically alter the new destination slide to the destination document resolution setting if they were not the same resolution to begin with.
2) Also, there is a grouping bug in '08 which may move objects randomly. This might be part of what you are seeing.
Check the Keynote manual pp 169-170.

Best Slide Size for SlideShow

I am preparing a slide show to be presented on a large screen television set. A 50 incher.
What would be the ideal size for my slides to be sized before I add them to the iDVD slide show board? Better to save them as pdf files or simple jpeg images?
I tried to look this information up on the iDVD help menu on my computer but the help function does not work. Thanks.

You will probably have to do some experimenting to see what works best for you.

Save for Web with Optimize File Size for Batch Process

I have a client who needs to be able to run a batch process on jpg images ranging in size from 600KB to 2.5MB optimizing their file size as close to 200KB as possible. The feature is included in Photoshop's save for web optimize dialog but it doesn't work for batch processes. If you record an action with the optimize to file size option set it processes all the images in the batch based on the quality settings required to resize the image you used during recording, meaning if the image you recorded was 1.5MB the quality setting might be 70 percent to hit the 200KB mark but that wouldn't be the correct quality setting for a 600KB file nor a 2.5MB file those would either be too small or too large.
I've done quite a bit of searching both online and in the photoshop scripting forums but I haven't been able to find anything that would point me in the right direction.
My client's paying for this work so if there's someone who knows how to script this who'd rather be paid than just do some pointing we can arrange for that quite easily.

Optimum Photo/Slide Size for Podcast

Hello,
Would anyone know the optimum size for a slide from Keynote, to be exported to iPhoto, so it will fit in the pre-determined size for a podcast in GarageBand? My photos from Keynote slides are large, so I have to adjust their size in GarageBand. This leaves a black top and bottom to each photo in the finished podcast, kind of like watching a cinema film. Would it be 300x300?

Would't it be nice to use all the real estate of an iPod screen and have images 400x300, the dimensions of a Keynote slide? Garageband doesn't allow that currently, but if we let Apple know we would like it a software engineer should be able to easily add it. To submit such a request, launch Garageband and then under the Garageband menu at the top pull down and select "Garageband feedback". That's how you let them know to add this aspect ratio feature. I specifically want to find out how to change the font size for "fill in the blanks" information. They're usually huge and i just simply want to make them smaller.
As a complete aside, is there a keyboard shortcut for being on google chrome or safari, then immediately opening the window for "preview." I'm typing notes out on preview while listening to a video lecture on my web browser, usually chrome, and i'd like to switch back and forth.

Can't answer your first question but can offer some information regarding your 'aside.'
Command-tab will move the focus to the most recent previous application. If repeated, it will step through the pen applications from most to least recent. In your described case, you could use command-tab to toggle between Preview and Safari.
Command-~ runs you through the open windows in the same application. As with command-tab, the steps are from most to least recent.

Extending Martti's post, you can create an XSLT that will add an element around the ASD2.1 part when you import the XML file into FrameMaker. Then FrameMaker's EDD can format this added element with a font different from the one used in the content element.

I presume you are using the Pages application, is that correct?
So start off by launching Pages and choose one of the regular envelope styles. Traditional works well for me.
Next go to the File menu and select Page setup. From the menu that says Paper Size select Manage Custom Sizes. In the resulting dialog, there should be a button on the left labeled "+". Click it. In the Paper Size area, select Width 5 in and Height 7 in. Name the size (where it says "untitled" something descriptive like "5 x 7 envelope". Click the OK button. The Paper Size menu here should now say the description you gave it. Click OK again. Your work area should now be a 5 x 7 envelope.

I think just replacing the -302.642 with 0.00002 will keep me closer to the mark and I'll anxiously await the real fix as well--in 10.9.2 [hope x3] unless of course someone really knows how to fix this.

What size of slide should I be creating on my MacBook for displaying on the iPad?

From the Apple website, the iPad screen is 1024-by-768-pixel resolution at 132 pixels per inch (ppi), so I would guess the default size of 1024 x 768 would be the best. However I don't have an iPad and have never used one, so you may want to ask in the community dedicated to iWork for iOS.

One Size Fits All? (Stage size for best display on iOS and Android)

I'm beating my head against the wall trying to find the one proper stage size that will accommodate all iOS devices and all Android devices adequately.
I've been following Colin Holgate's informative posts and am using the stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_BORDER; approach.
However, I'm not sure what I should be setting the dimensions of my stage to, as the suggestions I found of Colin's seem to be prior to the release of iPhone 5 and the iPad retina display.
Can anyone recommend a stage size that would work best in trying to accommodate the wide variety of devices out there?

We've done this with banners at the top and bottom. If you design a banner for a specific aspect ratio, you can do something like
banner.width = stage.stageWidth;
banner.scaleY = banner.scaleX;
This causes the banner to fill the width of the screen and change height proportionately. If you want to have more control over the elements in the banner, something like
banner.background.width = stage.stageWidth;

banner.buttonBack.height = newHeight;
banner.buttonBack.scaleX = banner.buttonBack.scaleY;

This might not be what you're looking for at all, but I find it works well for resizing.
When asked to convert a fixed-size iPad app to one that dynamically resized for Android devices, we found it infeasible to completely recode the app in the time required, so we mixed dynamic resizing like above with throwing lots of objects into an empty MovieClip and scaling the MovieClip to fit the current stage size. This didn't hurt performance much, even when running graphics designed for the iPad's 2048*1536 retina display on much smaller screens.

We are in the phase where we Will enable Online Archive for all the users.
We see that the default Archiving Quota is set up for 50 GB. We have found this powershell command on MsTechnet forum
Get-Mailbox -resultsize unlimited | where {$_.ArchiveDatabase -ne $null} | set-mailbox -ArchiveQuota 7GB -ArchiveWarningQuota 6GB
which I guess it will set up the ArchiveQuota to 7GB to all the users, true?
The question is if this command will work only for those users who currently have archiving enabled or it Will also work for those users which we are planing to enable archiving in the future?
The idea is that everyone would not have 50GB by default and this should be a default value also for those who currently do not have archiving enabled.

I don't quite get it.
I have created "for example" a database called: STH ARCHIVE.
Then if I take look on properties of this database this is how it's shown:
And now here comes the "tricky part" which is a little bit odd to me.
I have enabled archive on my mailbox and selected this STH ARCHIVE DB to hold this archive mailbox.
Then I have manually ran ManagedFolderAssistant for my account: Start-ManagedFolderAssistant -Identity "my-email-address"
And after I have greped the size of my mailbox:
Get-Mailbox | Get-MailboxStatistics -Archive | Sort totalitemsize -desc | ft displayname,totalitemsize, itemcount >C:\report-archive-database-mailboxes.txt
And get the result:
Personal Archive - MYUSERNAME
TotalItemSize: 4.071 GB (4,371,586,689 bytes)
ItemCount: 55227
So now I don't understand how I was able to go thru that sizes which are in the upper print screen of archive DB properties?
