Optimize Video not available

I have iMovie 10.0.3 (which is a nightmare), an iMac 27 with 10.9.3 and 16GB and a problem I can't solve by my own.
I want to do use the instant replay feature, but the menu is grayed out.
The potential solution should be to select "optimize video" with a right click in the events, but this option is not available. In the older version it was a piece of cake to do this...
Any idea what I can do get this option?

I've published my projects in AVI using the Cinipak Codec video output but in Windows Server 2008 (64 bit), I get a "video not available, cannot find 'vids:cvid' decompressor" error. Any thoughts?

Where the projector is concerned, AVIs are not actually using
WMP to run the file ... it actually uses the older Mplayer32
application which is also found on all Windows systems.
MPlayer32 does not natively support MPG4 and so if you just
installed the codec it was likely introduced for a temporary
period, but upon restart the system only loads the basic codecs for
Mplayer32.
This is why a typical video project usually uses QT media or
Flash media for videos, since many of the older codecs supported by
MPlayer are not very "size friendly". In some cases they are also
"quality" challenged.
QT media requires the user to have QT installed, but you can
always include the installer on the CD for free, and many people
have it already.
Another third party alternative is Real media, and there is
an xtra in Director that will handle the files ... but again this
requires Real player to be installed on the user's machine. You
can, once again, include the installer on the CD ... but fewer
people have it installed compared to QT.
The MPeg Advanced Xtra may be a way to go, since it will
actually interact with the WMP engine, rather than the older
MPlayer32 engine.
On the XP+ machines, I believe the older MPlayer32 app is
actually cross-wired into the new WMP so it will allow b/c for some
apps that use it still, which is why it works on the XP machine,
but that will not happen on the earlier Win OS's

Videos "not available" when I try to export to IDVD

I completed a project and when I tried to move it to IDVD it gave me the following message:
The following Event used in this project is not currently available:
iPhoto Videos - movies
The portions of the project which reference this Event will show black frames.
From that point on I was unable to view that portion of the video in the view screen and it shows a black exclamation point in a yellow triangle for all the video that is "not available." How did I do this and how do I fix it?? I have IMovie '08. Thank you!

I am having the same problem. I somehow ended up with my videos downloading directly into iphoto. When I tried to get them into imovie, a screen popped up and asked me if I wanted to generate thumbnails for all iphoto videos. I clicked NOW, and now the clips are in the iPhoto Video folder in the Event Library. I cannot sort them out into separate events, so I decided to make a movie project directly from the iPhoto Video folder. This worked, until I got through with it and tried to share to YouTube. YouTube said it detected an error, and now iMovie is giving me caution signs on all the clips within my project that are iPhoto clips. I get the same error message. If anyone has any ideas on this,please help!

Youtube hd videos not available for apple tv

Hello,
I have Apple TV since Nov/2012 and just realized that Youtube HD videos are not available for Apple TV. I have a playlist in Youtube with lot of HD videos but in Apple TV all HD videos are not displayed. Anybody knows if it is some restrictions (Apple and Google) or is it some configuration that I need to do?

ok, I got it...unfortunately the most of my favorite videos looks like use Flash because they are not available by Apple TV

Optimize video, not working...

While trying to insert a clip into a storyboard (slow motion), iMovie keeps alerting me: that clip needs to be optimized. but when i optimize, it still does not let me add the clip. (?) It seems to only be a problem for the slow motion clip. The video is from a Nikon D7000, HD.

I'm replying to my own question in hopes it will help someone else. It almost seemed too simple, but I decided to try uninstalling Flash Player and then reinstalling the latest version. And it worked!

Optimize media not available for XDCAM?

Hi all, I'm really liking the new X update, and am surprised to see all the posts with possible issues on this forum on 10.0.6 - so far I'm not experiencing any issues, except that I normally have the option to optimize (create Apple ProRes files) of my XDCAM media when I'm importing it from the camera, but that option is grayed out. Is anyone else seeing this? Regardless, FCPX 10.0.6 accepts the XDCAM files native and I can edit without any issues whatsoever.
I opened preferences and saw that I can click "optimize media" as an overall preference, but it didn't make a difference. Is this due to being able to accept XDCAM native or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any help. Did you guys see that "Share" is now under FILE like it used to be in 7? I'm personally really liking all the new features! I practically begged for this release 7 days ago before heading to Kona Hawai'i to edit the Ironman World Champion Race Recap because the NBC trailer was on AVID MC and an ISIS SAN but we ended up doing a workaround to create ProRes files from their MXF files, but funny it ends up released just a week later! (kind of funy... kinda not....)

Would you say that it is smarter (goal being best practices that result in as much image quality as possible) to edit unconverted media, where possible, and then send to Compressor for final deliver conversion - so in the case of XDCAM, (my flavor is 4:2:0 when I haven't tapped the HD-SDI spigot to a hard disc recorder) and edit the piece together - which may involve some amount of light color grading/correction, or do you recommend "optimizing", converting to a 4:2:2 ProRes format first prior to editing?
A long time ago when FCPX was first released, I wanted to test its ability to edit H.264 Canon 5D MVI files natively, becuase up until that point, inside FCP7, that was not possible. I know it converting a file can't improve it even if it is to create a less compressed file that is easier for editing. The result was pretty amazing, I was able to edit the MVI files natively, they looked amazing, and I decided since the project was H.264, I basically exported it as it was - again, no conversion; so I "Shared" it without changing it's properties. I uploaded it to my Vimeo account and it really was amazing how much of the original quality I was able to retain since no conversions had happened. Is that the idea behind the XDCAM workflo with the plug-in?

Videos Not Available on Ipod after Upgrade to 1.2

After installing iTunes 7, and updating the iPod software to 1.2, only a portion of videos, specifically tv shows, are showing up. The videos themselves are in my iTunes library and I can view then on the PC, but they do not show up on my iPod.
I've tried re-authorizing the computer, but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

When I read the posts on how to resolve this problem, the basic fix it roll back to the previous version of the iPod Updater software.
What I don't understand is how do I uninstall the iTunes and the iPod Updater software. My computer is a mac, and I'm new to mac. I know how to remove software safely on a PC, but not on a Mac.
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Youtube Music Videos Not Available on iOS?

I have an iPad and an iPhone, and none of the VEVO youtube videos or music videos in general can be played on the youtube app. It will say that this movie could not be played. Also, if you try to watch them through the browser version of youtube through safari, it tells me that I need flash (yeah I know) but if I play any other youtube video on desktop youtube it won't tell me about flash, and will just play. It seems like any youtube video with music cannot be played on iOS. Is youtube deliberately blocking music videos from iphones and ipads, or is this apple wanting you to pay money in itunes, or is it a glitch on my end?

Videos not available

Early this week, Firefox stopped loading videos and audio. I have done all the plugin updates, disabled extensions and added them back, and everything else suggested on "Fix common audio and video issues".
In troubleshooting information under graphics, this appears several times: "Blocked for your graphics driver version. Try updating your graphics driver to version 10.6 or newer." ATI's latest version is 8.9 so I can't figure out what graphic driver I am supposed to update.I downloaded the latest from the AMD website. When I try to update the driver through Windows device manager, it says I already have the most current driver.
Please help.

You appear to be using Firefox 6,the current release is Firefox 13 so it may help to update that.
You are using Flash Player 11.3 unfortunately FlashPlayer on Windows Firefox has recently been causing problems and you may even need to downgrade to Flash 10.3 or 11.2

Why is Video not Available Canada

I can't find out why the major shows that are available on the iTunes website in the US aren't available in Canada. Does anyone have any idea who is blocking this - the content providers, Canadian networks or the regulator. It'd be so handy to have access.

BB does not choose the apps that will run on their devices. Rather, the app developers choose the platforms and OS levels that they will support their app on. So, the best place to pose your question is to the app developer...for it is their decision as to supporting your platform.

Navigating in Windows 8 Videos not available

Attempting to run the Navigating in Windows 8 Videos, and none of them work. They all
sit for a few seconds and then say: This video is currently unavailable.
Been unavailable for 2 days now. How are new users supposed to get used to this cryptic
GUI if all the Help videos are dead?
As a general observation, I have had enormous trouble getting the Apps to work. For the Communications
Apps and Weather app I had to uninstall and re-install just for them to even try to work. Weather app
basically in some infinite startup mode. This is TERRIBLE quality HP. May not be your fault, but maybe
you can tell Redmond go back and try again.

Thanks for the tip. I was not aware Windows 8 had the DVD player capability removed. Adding Media Player is
something I will look into. I did install VNC and it seems to work OK.
That, however, was not my problem. I discovered the videos in the Navigating Windows 8 help are
actually just links to YouTube videos. There seems to be some problem with that interface. I can watch
the videos on YouTube from a browser (after I decoded where the videos were located), but from Navigating Windows 8
no joy. This looks like an HP problem with that YouTube link.

PowerPoint 2013 Insert Online Video not available

Just trying out PowerPoint 2013 and I noticed I am not able to insert a video.
Proceeding to Insert tab, Media ribbon, and then "Online Video..." brings up a screen that only says "Sign in with your Microsoft account to insert photos and videos from Facebook, SkyDrive, and other sites.
I wish to use embed code to insert a YouTube video.

The process is right. Currently using embed code or insert Online video is causing a lot of problems in PowerPoint 2013. One day it works, and another it doesn't. We are all waiting for Microsoft/Google/Adobe to sort this out.

Why is amazon instant video not available from itunes in australia?

Please dont tell me its a creative rights issue.
This is an example of apples my way or not at all.
I can get amazon instant video on my tv, my pc and my nokia.
But not ipad.. Bloody useless.

Ask Amazon - they've let Apple have it in the US store, they are the ones who will need to grant Apple a licence to have it in the Australian store.

Audio and Video "not available"

I have this issue with both my laptop (Pavilion dv6) and desktop (Pavilion)... running Windows 7 on both...
When I set up both computers I deleted a lot of the "bloatware" and what I thought were non-essential programs. I believe I may have accidentally deleted something that caused BOTH audio & video to be unavailable, which prevents me from using Skype and similar programs.
How do I re-install whatever I need to get audio & visual up & running?

Video not available cannot find 'vids:xvids' decompressor

I am getting this message when I am trying to play a an .avi file in framemaker 7.1. (I can play a .php and .flv files without any problems.) I have been able to play this type of file before until just recently. The only thing I know is any different from the time I was ble to play it and now is that I have deleted some fonts on my system (NOT the standard windows fonts). That should not have caused this. I have downloaded the vids:xvid codec - still the same problem. What else can I do, besides converting all my .avi files? By the way I can play the .avi files outside of FrameMaker.

However there is no camera software that I am aware of. You simply connect the USB cable to the camera and copy the images to the PC. I can then double click on them in WIndows Explorer and they play fine but not in AE
However since posting this my son has found that if he does create movie in AE (something to do with creating a proxy?) it then plays OK
DOes this help explain what is going on?
