OptimizeIt 4.11 and iPlanet 6.0sp1

Hi,
has anyone successfully configured OptIt 4.11 to work with iPlanet 6.0sp1?
The instructions presented in iPlanet's documentation..
http://docs.iplanet.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/50/servlets/xprof.htm#22740
... are a bit vague, and the server simply refuses to start with absolutely
nothing in the error log. If I remove the -Xrunoii option, and replace it
with -Xbootclasspath/a:/usr/local/OptimizeItSuite/lib/oibcp.jar, the server
starts ok, but with the following error..
warning ( 1186): Attempt to start OptimizeIT failed (exception: unknown
exception,no description)
While starting the server, it does print out stuff from OptIt, so there must
be some kind of connection between them:
OptimizeIt Profiler 4.11 build 442 Audit System.
(c) 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 VMGEAR.
Port is 1470
Although that port 1470 cannot be accessed as the OptIt didn't start
successfully.
Does this seem familiar to anyone?
cheers,
Juha

My software update wants to download and install 10.4.11, but I want to make sure my Appleworks 6.2.9 will still work before I install the update because I have no desire want so ever to move to iWorks etc. which are just far inferior to Appleworks for my uses.
The AppleWorks 6.2.9 Update will do absolutely nothing on your already installed AppleWorks 6.2.9.
Its task is to update old AppleWorks 6 versions (6.0 thru 6.2.8).

  • Include directive in iplanet 6.0SP1

    If I have a include directive
    <%@ page contentType="text/xml; charset=UTF-8" %>
    in jsp then it loads up fine in iplanet 6.0SP1 and shows Japanese characters.
    However when I have the same directive in some declare.jsp and include declare.jsp in another jsp file like:
    <%@ include file='/declare.jsp' %>
    then the webserver doesn't take the utf-8 encoding and doesn't process japanese characters correctly.
    Is this bug fixed in later versions of iplanet? Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ravi

    This doesn't seem to be an error. This is may be because the maximum characters they allow is 4096 and anything above it might be truncated. Check with Sun Support may be they have a better answer.

    Hi, I am using HP11 and iPlanet web server. When trying to upload files over HTTP using FORM ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data" that are bigger than a few Kilobytes i get a 408 error. (client timeout). It is as if the server has decided that the client has timed out during the file upload. The default setting is 30 seconds for AcceptTimeout in the magnus.conf file. This should be ample to get the file across, even increasing this to 2 minutes just produces the same error after 2 minutes. Any help appreciated. Apologies if this is not the correct forum for this, I couldn't see one for iPlanet and Web, many thanks, Kieran.

    Hi,
    You didnt mention which version of IWS. follow these steps.
    (1)Goto Web Server Administration Server, select the server you want to manage.
    (2)Select Preference >> Perfomance Tuning.
    (3)set HTTP Persistent Connection Timeout to your choice (eg 180 sec for three minutes)
    (4) Apply changes and restart the server.
    *Setting the timeout to a lower value, however, may    prevent the transfer of large files as timeout does not refer to the time that the connection has been idle. For example, if you are using a 2400 baud modem, and the request timeout is set to 180 seconds, then the maximum file size that can be transferred before   the connection is closed is 432000 bits (2400 multiplied by 180)

  • WLS 6.1 SP2 NSAPI and iPlanet (Sun One) issues

    Hi. I am going nuts with this NSAPI issue. I am working in a Solaris 8 environment,
    WLS 6.1 SP2 and iPlanet (Sun One)and NSAPI. I can get everything to work fine
    and dandy in aniPlanet 4.1 environment. I can not get it to work in an Iplanet
    (Sun One) 6.x environment. It appears that some things work differently between
    the versions of iPlanet (ie. things contained in magnus.conf and/or obj.conf).
    I have tried moving things, removing things, adding things and nothing seems
    to work....it's almost as though the NSAPI, etc. are being ignored.
    I've attached my magnus.conf and obj.conf files (I cut and pasted them into a
    single file so I could upload it). Can anyone help me out here...I've been working
    for weeks on this and can't seem to get any answers.
    Thanks!
    Doug
    P.S. For security purpses I changed the first part of the IP add. in the files
    to 1234567, etc.
    Thanks

    Hi Doug
    U have to put the following section
    Init fn="load-modules" funcs="wl_proxy,wl_init" shlib="./libproxy.so"
    Init fn="wl_init"
    into magus.conf
    and put the rest into obj.conf

    Does anybody know of a good reference document on how to properly install
    the NSAPI
    plug-in for WLS6.1 & iPlanet6(SunOne) on Unix (Solaris). Many of the references
    that
    I have been finding are either incomplete, have typo's and are mostly Windows
    oriented
    (ie. with the .dll's, paths, examples, etc.)
    My problem is that our old iPlanet 4.x works fine...everything proxies,
    etc. iPlanet
    6 just doesn't want to seem to communicate with WLS 6.1 SP2 We tried many
    of the
    saem things from the 4.x magnus & obj.confs...but things look somewhat different
    in iPlanet 6.x (did they move tings..such as the fn's from one to the other,
    etc.)
    If so..and there are big differences in installing iPlanet 4.x vs. 6.x
    then many
    of the docs out there are inaccurate. Does anyone know if there is a newer
    version
    of the NSAPI plug-in for Unix.
    I would love to see a basic, working set of magnus.conf obj.conf, MIME,etc
    from someone
    who has actually gotten NSAPI to work between WLS 6.1 and iPlanet 6 on Unix
    (Solaris)
    It blows my mind that 4.x works and 6.x doesn't. An updated NSAPI plug-in
    , if it exists and perhaps fixes the problem, would make my day. Any ideas?

  • Running Weblogic 8.1 SP3 and IPlanet 6.0 on same machine

    I have requirement to run Weblogic Platform SP3 and IPlanet 6.0 servers on same Solaris machine
    for a client of ours.
    Please let me if we can do this. What kind of issues we may run into.
    Thanks,
    Sanjay

    Hi
    Of course, you can install both at the same machine.
    Only remember the memory required ... and the real memory available ... this for don't have swap problems.
    Remember too if you are planning to create WLS clusters ... BEA recommends 1 cluster per CPU ... and reserve 1 CPU for the iPlanet web Server. Even, you can install all clusters and web server as your machine support ( under load, try to mantain the CPU usage under 70-80%).

    Hi.
    This question would probably be answered better in the plug-in newsgroup, but here's something to
    try:
    In your <Object> definition add Debug=ON and see what shows up in the wlproxy.log file. Also please
    post the error you are seeing here and I'll have a look.

    Yos:
    Series of steps to get WLS working with some external LDAP server follows:
    I. create a new domain /mydomain
    II. start server
    III. open WebLogic console in a browser
    IV. in left frame, go to
    security->realms->myrealm->providers->AuthenticationProviders and click
    V. in right frame, click on “Configure a new iPlanet Authenticator”
    VI. In the new screen, under General, make sure the Control Flag is set to Required,
    select a name for this authenticator, and click Create.
    VII. Select iPlanet LDAP tab and fill in values for Host, Port, Principal where
    these values reflect the settings for your LDAP server. (Note: the default
    principal for an iPlanet LDAP server is uid=admin, ou=Administrators,
    ou=TopologyManagement, o=NetscapeRoot). Click Apply.
    VIII. Click on Credential: Change. At the new screen, enter the credential
    associated with the Principal that you entered in step VII in both boxes. This will
    be the password that is used to do a bind to your LDAP server with the principal.
    Click Apply.
    IX. Select Users tab and make sure these properties accurately reflect the structure
    of your LDAP server. Most of the time the only property that needs to be changed is
    the User Base DN property, from ou=people,o=example.com to
    ou=people,o=myCompany.com. Click Apply.
    X. Select Groups tab and make sure these properties accurately reflect the structure
    of your LDAP server. Most of the time the only property that needs to be changed is
    the Groups Base DN property, from ou=people,o=example.com to
    ou=groups,o=myCompany.com. Click Apply.
    XI. Now, the boot identity of your server absolutely must be a user that exists on
    your LDAP server. You must also have an “Administrators” group on your LDAP server,
    and the boot identity must be a user that exists in this “Administrators” group, or
    the server will not start. So open your LDAP console (this will be a console that
    is specific to the LDAP server you are using) and use the management tools to create
    the “Administrators” group and a user that you place in the “Administrators” group
    that is the boot identity that you use to start WebLogic.
    XII. Make these changes and restart the server.
    XIII. You can verify that the LDAP setup is correct by doing a thread dump. You
    should see a thread like:
    “LDAPConnThread localhost:389" daemon prio=5 tid=0x8d9b308 nid=0x8f8 runnable
    [0x9e2f000..0x9e2fdbc]
    at java.net.SocketInputStream.socketRead(Native Method)
    at java.net.SocketInputStream.read(SocketInputStream.java:86)
    at java.io.BufferedInputStream.fill(BufferedInputStream.java:186)
    at java.io.BufferedInputStream.read(BufferedInputStream.java:204)
    - locked <3281d98> (a java.io.BufferedInputStream)
    at netscape.ldap.ber.stream.BERElement.getElement(BERElement.java:101)
    at netscape.ldap.LDAPConnThread.run(LDAPConnThread.java:420)
    where “localhost:389” is the server name and port of your LDAP
    server. This means that your Authenticator has been set up correctly.
    XIV. Now you can delete your default authenticator. Open the WebLogic console and
    go to security->realms->myrealm->providers->AuthenticationProviders in the left
    frame, and click
    XV. In the right frame, look for DefaultAuthenticator and click on the trash can to
    the far right. Say “Yes” when it asks if you are sure, then click Continue.
    XVI. Restart the WebLogic server. If the server boots correctly, you’re done.
    Everything is working correctly.
    Please note that the "default authenticator" refers to the embedded LDAP server that
    ships with WebLogic.
    Hope this helps.

    Start the odisrv with the debug flag set to 16. This should give you a more detailed trace which might help you sort this.

  • Users found, but not displayed in console with WL8.1 SP5 and iPlanet LDAP

    Hi all,
    I've just installed WL8.1 SP5 and have recreated my domain configuration, as happily used by SP4.
    All seems well until I add an iPlanetAuthenticator via the console. The console reports that it has been created successfully, but when I browse users, I am told that the console is displaying the first 51 of the 413 users found, but only six are displayed, those six being in the internal LDAP.
    If I re-order the configured authentication providers and put my iPlanet Authenticator first, entries from iPlanet are displayed, but a search to find users in the internal LDAP return nothing.
    When I say return nothing, it does not fail! No error is returned and on looking at the HTML I find that blank table row(s) are placed in the results page, their number corresponding to the number of users found in the 'invisible' LDAP directory.
    My application works - meaning that users are being found, but not being able to see them through the console is a show stopper. Has anyone else come across this problem? Can anyone help? At the moment, I'm stumped as to how to solve it!
    All the best,
    Tim.

    Hi all,
    This problem was raised with BEA support and a patch produced.
    All the best,
    Tim.

  • NSAPI [iPlanet 6.0SP1] for WLS6.1 SP1

    Hi,
    I am trying to integrate iPlanet WebServer 6.0 SP1 with Weblogic6.1 SP1 but am
    not able to get it up and running. I followed the documentation and able to get
    the ststic HTML pages but am not able to get the JSP's and Servlets to work. Here
    are the steps I followed, can anyone help me out.
    Thanks in advance
    Ravi
    1. Copy &#8220;proxy36.dll&#8221; located in the &#8220;<weblogic_home>/bin&#8221;
    directory to &#8220;<Netscape_Home>/Servers/Plugins/&#8221; directory.
    2. Modify &#8220;Magnus.conf&#8221; file.
    Add following two lines at the top of the file after the comments.
    >Init fn="load-modules" funcs="wl-proxy,wl-init"\ shlib="C:/Netscape/Server4/plugins/proxy36.dll"
    Init fn="wl-init"
    3.Modify &#8220;obj.conf&#8221; file. Add the following lines
    <Object name="weblogic" ppath="*/weblogic/*">
    Service fn="wl-proxy" WebLogicHost=<IPAddress of WLS Server>WebLogicPort="Port#"
    PathTrim="/weblogic"
    </Object>
    4.Apply changes and Stop/Start the iPlanet Server.
    6.Create subfolder called &#8220;my_apps&#8221; under &#8220;<NETSCAPE_HOME>/docs/&#8221;.
    Move the contents of the &#8220;<WEBLOGIC_HOME>/public-html/my_apps&#8221; folder
    to this folder.
    7.Modify &#8220;myapps.properties&#8221; located in &#8220;<WEBLOGIC_HOME>/MyDomain/myappsproperties&#8221;
    and modify the &#8220;web_server_url&#8221; and &#8220;web_server_ip&#8221; to
    indicate the URL of the webserver
    web_server_url=http://<iPlanetHostname>:port/weblogic/
    web_server_ip= http://<iPlanetHostname>:port
    8.     Restart WebLogic Server
    9.     Restart iPlanet Enterprise Server

    Hi,
    My previous request might have been misleading, i found that it is not just images that don't work but all the resources deployed in apache with the webconnector to iplanet do not work if there is a query string attached to it.
    for eg., http://<host>/home/index.html?user=username does not work either.
    Thanks
    Prashanth Sukumaran.

  • Solaris 8 and iPlanet Directory Server 5.1: Help

    Could anyone help with advice or where to find documentation of how to setup a Solaris 8 client machine to authenticate against iPlanet Directory Server 5.1? The only documentation (eg books, BluePrint articles) I can find cover iPlanet Directory 4.11 or 4.12 and a Solaris 8 client. Even the tools from the BluePrint Tools area at Sun only talk about using iPlanet Directory Server 4.11/12. Quite a lot seems to have change from iDS 4.12 to iDS5.1.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Stewart

    Hi Steven, I suppose that this question is identical to your other question: " Topic: solaris 8 client setup with solaris 9 ldap".
    So the answer will be the same.
    You may find what you are looking for in the following technical note: http://knowledgebase.iplanet.com/ikb/kb/articles/7966.html
    It is called: "Cookbook for Solaris 8 client with Directory Server 5.1/Solaris 9"

  • WL6.1 and Iplanet

    I'm trying configure a mapping in the obj.conf file on Iplanet.
    This is what I want,
    https://www.mywebserver.com/myportal --> https://weblogic:7001/myportal
    From the edocs, I've only been able to do the following,
    https://www.mywebserver.com/myportal/myportal/login.jsp -->
    https://weblogic:7001/myportal/login.jsp
    Notice how I "myportal" is typed in twice? I don't want that.
    Can you map a url to go directly to a web application?
    Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.
    Other things that aren't working
    Urls that don't work,
    https://www.mywebserver.com/myportal --> https://www.mywebserver.com
    https://www.mywebserver.com/myportal/myportal -->
    https://www.mywebserver.com
    I was hoping when I type the above url's, the first one would bring up
    weblogic's default html page, and
    the second should bring up my welcome page that I defined in my xml file or
    the war, which is the login.jsp file.
    But instead it brings me back to the default page for the iPlanet webserver.
    If anyone knows how to fix that, please help me. Thanks.

    Hi.
    You might have better luck posting your question to the plugin newsgroup -
