Optimum Settings For MBP Trackpad?

Hi All,
I only use the trackpad on my MBP but it seems very sensitive. I am happy with the cursor speed movement but when scrolling using the trackpad, I find alot of the time it highlights areas of the screen/page blue, or it takes me to another web-page, another section of a page, sometimes the scrolling delays and jumps straight to the top or bottom and other such issues. I have tried various settings on the trackpad section of system preferences but have been unable to find something that I can adjust the sensitivity to. can anyone help me on this matter or tell me what the best/optimum settings I should use or what else I can do?
Thank You!
SuaveBhav!

My track pad works great... i can give you my track pad info if you would like.

  • Optimum settings for video playback on 5800 Xpress...

    Hello.
I want to find out what are the best setting to use for converting videos for watching on the 5800.
I will be converting from EyeTV files using a Mac. I can use either the ‘Export’ function from EyeTV or VisualHub – both have a huge range of formats and settings.
I could spend considerable time playing around with settings, but thought it easier to ask, as someone might of done this before.
The fact that I am using a Mac is unimportant - what I need are the optimum settings for: format, bitrate etc?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

i have h264/aac working in either a mp4 or a 3gp container, settings are 352x198 1000kbps ABR video 128kbps audio, baseline level 1.0, no b-frames, no cabac are the main things to remember. this is the largest size 16/9 aspect h264 the 5800 will play,  this gives really good watchable video though and even dropping the video bitrate to 600kbps ABR still gives watchable video. i have attached a mediainfo output file for you to get the full settings i use, hopefully someone will find good use for this

  • Settings for optimum use for MBP / Dell 27"

I recently purchased a Dell 27" monitor (which is lush to use for my MBP main display and xbox360 etc.
The MBP display is 1680x1050 but the dell display is 1920x1200 meaning i have to down-rate my display otherwise i have a big blue band around two side of the dell display.
Therefore im not using the display at its optimum settings.
Can anyone over any advice or should i look at purchasing a new laptop capable of displaying the 1920x1200?

Hi Phil: With the external monitor connected, go to System Preferences > Displays >Arrangement Tab. You will no have 2 separate windows for monitor settings. On the one with the "Arrangement" tab uncheck the Mirror Displays box. You will be able to set each monitor to their native resolution. To utilize the external monitor, just drag any open program/application to the external.
    Hope this helps

  • Separate settings for MBP keyboard and aluminium keyboard?

I just bought myself a Apple aluminium keyboard (USB) and have to say I'm loving it. However, there is one small hang-up.
Basically, whatever key-commands I apply to the keyboard are taking from my MacBook Pro's keyboard settings and seem to have none of their own. I had gotten the impression that there was a stand-alone software to manage the keyboard but that does not seem to be the case as far as I can tell after about 30 minutes of searching the net and Apple's website.
Does anyone know a way in which I can have one set of settings for my laptop's keyboard and another set for my aluminium keyboard?

  • Video formats and optimum settings for both Mac and Windows XP

Now this is a strange one: I create a Windows Media (WMV) file and it plays great on the Mac (I have Flip4Mac installed also). However, it doesn't play on Windows XP in MSIE -- but the QuickTime (.M4V file) does. I do have QuickTime installed on the WXP. I guess the following questions are of interest not only to me but to a lot of people:
    1. What are the absolute optimum settings and format for a QuickTime file that will be played on an Apple in Safari or other browser? .MOV? .M4V? .MP4?
    2. Same question for Windows XP. .AVI? .WMV?
I know there is a lot of already available information on this but I'm looking for a video expert who has troubleshot this to death and has this down and working on an existing website.
NOTE: I would make it a Flash file but Keynote exports a non-playing Flash format file as does QuickTime, so no luck there. Also, for some stupid reason Keynote separates the audio and video when exporting to a QuickTime movie and what's with that?
Sorry this got long but not only I, but I'm sure a lot of people have this set of questions. Much appreciated.

Depends – if you are planning on connecting to an Exchange Server then I would suggest that you install Crossover (www.codeweavers.com) on your Mac’s and then Office 2003/Outlook. I am connecting to an Exchange Server running Windows Small Business Server 2003 and have not had any problems using Outlook and sharing Calendar data between my XP and Mac systems.
If you are not planning on using Exchange and your mail usage is not that demanding (less than 20 messages daily) the you could use the basic Mail clients that come with OSX (Mail) and Windows (Outlook Express).

  • Optimum settings for airport extreme base

I have a relatively new Airport extreme base station that I got this year. And, two new 15" Macbook pro's.
There are lots of options in the set up of the airport. Had anyone determined what some optimum settings might be to maximize speed.
I do know one hint.... use iStumbler to find an inactive channel and set that up as the channel that you use.
    Any other tips?

    Welcome to the discussions!
iStumbler will not work with Snow Leopard, so try Air Radar. It's not free, but you can use if for a few weeks at no charge. You want to set your channel as far away as possible from any other channels that you see. The "Automatic" setting on your AEBS is supposed to do this for you, but it's a changing target as the other routers in the neighborhood will be doing the same thing. The "right" channel on Tuesday may not be the right channel on Friday if you try to set the channel manually. It will take some experimentation.

The optimum settings to maximize speed may curiously not be the best settings to use on your network if a sacrifice must be made to give up bandwidth. In this regard, there is no way to predict in advance whether the highly advertised 5 GHz will perform better than the more standard 802.11n at 2.4 GHz.
The reason for this (and what the ads don't tell you) is that higher frequency 5 GHz signals are absorbed by walls, ceilings and any obstructions much more quickly than 2.4 GHz signals. So, in return for speed, you give up penetration power. For many users 5 Ghz does not perform nearly as well as 2.4 GHz a few rooms down the hall or on the upper floor.
You will need to experiment to find the best compromise in settings for your own installation.

Friends: Could someone kindly provide me with a list of optimum settings (brightness, contrast, tint, etc.) for picture quality  for a Toshiba 50A61 projection TV?  I am tired of playing around with the settings. Thanks for any help.

The optimum settings are always going to depend on the surrounding environment and personal preference.

  • Optimum settings for vga to svhs adapter

I was wondering if anyone knew anything i could do on my mac to make this any better? i don't really wanna change the picture settings on my tv as when i watch normal tv they'd be wrong and i'd have to change them again.
i'm more looking for the best settings for the tv from my mac, and an explanation of why the colours are so different would be good too!
    not askin for much! ha,

  • Optimum Settings for Creating .MOV for Web

    Hello,
I shot my video footage using a Canon XL-1 with a MiniDV tape. I then loaded this footage into Final Cut Pro (Version 4), running on MAC (Version 9.0), and then completed my editing. Besides creating a final 42-minute version to be shown on television, I would like to break up this 42-minute version into three separate pieces (a 21-minute, an 11-minute, and a 10-minute slice) for Web/Internet delivery.
To do this, I will create three separate .MOV files; however, I would like to know the 'OPTIMUM' configuration Final Cut Pro settings/considerations before creating these .MOVs for optimum audio/video quality when shown on a website. By the way, after I produce these .MOV files, I plan to encode them using FlixPro's ON2 V6 Codec to finally produce Flash 8 .FLV files for uploading to my web server.
Any and all advice regarding optimum Final Cut pro settings/considerations before creating these .MOVs would be aprreciated immensely!

Thank you for your reply. I take it then that current default settings are OK.

  • Optimum settings for shooting HD video?

I just purchased a Panasonic AG-AC160a camcorder with the firmware upgrade to 1080/59.97p format with MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 compression. Since this is an upgrade from my DV tape camcorder I'm kind of lost and not sure what the best video format is to record in. I am shooting youth hockey games and want to produce the best HD picture I can and with as few steps as possible in PP CS5. I shoot approximately 45 minutes of content and I want to fit everything on one media disk. Thanks for any guidance on the best format settings.

Thank you. When I shoot my son's hockey games I pause the camcorder each time the action stops. When I got back I noticed that a new clip was formed upon each pause of the shooting (I'm used to capturing my entire tape footage -- even with multiple starts and stops -- into one clip directly from my old camcorder). Is there an easier way to get these multiple clips into my timeline panel without having to physically drag each one from the project panel?
Also, what is the best way to copy/transfer the files directly from the SDXC card to my computer so the files are resident on the computer before importing them and editing in PP?
Welcome to the wonderful world of HD. I've used the 160a before and it's a nice camera. I've been shooting with HMC150's for 3 years now and I think we squeeze every bit of juice out of it. A good forum for Panasonic users is DVXUser.com  Go there and find the 160a category and they'll be really helpful with camera questions.
When it comes to HD footage on these cards, eventually you'll really like that each time you stop the camera it makes a new clip. That way if you have shot a lot of clips you can pick and choose which ones to import or transcode (to a different format if you'd like) and save disc space if you are transcoding your clips to another format (which can sometimes be easier on your system than editing these native AVCHD files...that depends on your computer and how powerful it is). First, you are going to want to copy the ENTIRE contents of the SDHC/SDXC card onto your scratch drive (scratch drive just means a separate hard drive where all your footage is stored. Don't edit off of the card reader...copy it ALL to your drive and use that. Again, you have to copy the ENTIRE folder structure of the card not just the little video files. Then you can use Premiere's Media Browser to import the clips that you want. Just SHIFT+SELECT all the clips that you'd like and right-click and import the clips. If you want to drag multiple clips to your timeline, go ahead and shift+select all the clips you want and drag/drop on the timeline and they'll all drop on in order. You are shooting Hockey so I think it's important to turn your shutter on in your camera.  These cameras sometimes have "shutter off" as default...if I remember right. It's easy to adjust. There's a shutter button at the top of the panel where the LCD closes and you'll want to have a shutter speed of at least double your frame rate. Normally double is acceptable. So if you're shooting 60fps, then hit the shutter button and adjust to 1/120. When it says "shutter off" at 60fps that means it's at 1/60. That looks just fine in my opinion but for fast sports, you may not want that motion blur so I'd turn the shutter on. If you shoot at 30fps, then set the shutter to at least 1/60. Going to too fast of a shutter speed may start to create a hyper-real look similar to the opening beach scene in Saving Private Ryan which may not be what you want which is why I say go double your frame rate to start.
Also, if you are on tripod, you may want to turn OFF the OIS (image stabilzation) so you don't have any issues with it shifting at all. We keep the OIS on most of the time, but every once in a while on a tripod we need to turn it off because when you are doing lots of panning (which will be the case I'm assuming with Hockey) then you might see these weird little shifts in the image with these cameras as the OIS is catching up. If your final product is going to the web then I'd suggest either 720p60 or 1080p60 since computer screens are progressive. If you are just going to DVD, then you probably won't notice a huge difference with 1080 vs. 720 on these cameras. That's my experience anyway. If you go to Bluray, then maybe try 1080. The forum I mentioned above will help you with those camera related choices.
If you notice your computer getting bogged down editing these native AVCHD files, first switch Premiere's windows to "1/2 resolution" instead of "full". Or you may want to transcode to a different format (eg. if you're on a mac, transcode to ProRes 422). Again, like I said before, it depends on your computer's strength. Good luck!

  • Optimum Settings for Video Streaming (Netflix, Sling, etc) with E1500?

I recently started using an E1500, which, for the most part, has worked great. However, my Roku devices no longer connect at maximum speed/quality, according to the connection gauge. I no longer get the HD indication. The highest I get is 4 dots. With my Panasonic Netflix software, where there is no specific HD indicator, just a horizontal bar, it is always one notch shy of max. With previous routers (Dlink, Actiontec, 2Wire) I had no problem connecting at the maximum, even with "G" connections.
So, I was wondering if there were settings within the E1500 that would optimize video data transport. I do have WMM enabled. I also added the Roku boxes to QOS. But, I am still getting less-than-maximum connections with Roku and Panasonic Netflix apps.

Open the set up page of the router by typing the IP address of 192.168.1.1 or open Cisco connection go to router settings
Then go to advanced settings and  then click copy password and hit OK ..once you on the router page
Go to wireless and click manual after that create network name (SSID) Then set the wireless security as WPA2 personal
Which would give you stabilize connectivity then upgrade the latest firmware on  the router and reduced the MTU to 1462..
Unplug the power from  the modem and  the router
Wait for 1 minute and plug them back wait for 1 minute and then check the speed .

  • Graphic Settings for MBP Video Games

I am trying to play some video games for PC on my macbook using wineskin.  The game plays, but there is some lag during the singleplayer verisions of my games.  I just wanted to know if anyone could help me with what the optimal settings would be to make my game run smooth.  I have checked google for about 3 days, and could not get and answer.  I have a 15'' Macbook Pro with 2.0ghz intel quad core i7, with an AMD Radeon HD 6490M graphics card, and 8gb of ram.  Thanks.

The heart of Wineskin being able to run Windows programs is Wine.... and while Wine is getting better all the time, it still cannot run everything, and thins it can run are not always perfect.
In Windows a DirectX game has direct access to your GPU... DirectX is only available on Windows and Xbox because of Microsoft... so Wine has to basically convert on the fly Direct3D calls to OpenGL to actually run.  These extra overhead can slow down DirectX games quite a bit in some cases, though in some its barely noticeable.  What specifically you should tweak?  noone knows, you just have to do some trial and error and see what happens.  The biggest killer in performance is usually the resolution.  People get 1680x1050 screens and try to play all their games that gigantically... also making sure you take vsync off can help in some cases as well, as it usually will not work anyways.
