Event id 8010 - Document Management Server
Still got issues with this 8010 event id :
"Content Organizer processing for site http://mysite/personal/<username> encountered an error. Error: Exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' was thrown."
and this:
"Content Organizer processing for site http://mysite encountered an error. Error: Exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' was thrown."
I've followed this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff808318.aspx where it's stated 8010:
"A file that was created by using a new version of Office client or Word Services has been encountered. Please visit http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=157217 to download the latest Word Automation
Services converter. Use the latest converter to make sure that newer Office documents are converted at the highest level of quality possible."
I then downloaded the SDK - but it's not clear how I install the latest Word automation from the sdk.... (and how come I need this one - the user has only word 2003 and PDF files uploaded and why are the error thrown on the top mysite ??Hi,
1.Please check if word automation services provide all the files in your sites.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee558830.aspx
2. The event id 8010 maybe was caused by another error message not this one. please go to check your ULS logs to check if there are more information about it.
3. Please make sure your top site and the personal site are accessble and there is no corruption.

How to Customie Document Manager Service with a custom Java Application
Hi,
We have a requirement where we want to send customized emails to a group administrator whenever any document is uploaded using the Document Manager servie in Webcenter. For that we have written a java component for sending mails.
Could anyone tell me how do we make this java component work with the Document Manager upload action. how to modify it?
Any pointers would be appreciated.

UShaThe FieldPoint Ethernet modules (as well as LabVIEW - DSC and Lookout) utilize a propietary National Instruments Ethernet protocol. The protocol is not published and is currently restricted to Windows based platforms. There are several interfaces that allow one to communicate using the proprietary protocol; including NI FieldPoint (which has interfaces for LabVIEW, OPC, LabWindows/CVI), Lookout, LabVIEW - DSC, DataSocket, and (I think) a ComponentWorks module). Even though several of these interfaces are multiplatform, the ethernet support will only work on Windows based platforms.
Whereas the FieldPoint ethernet protocol is proprietary and closed, the protocol for the serial modules is open and published in the FP-1000/1001 Programmers Reference Manual. You can build your own multi-platform solution that way. Alternatively, you can use the FP-20XX series of RT Controllers and embed a LabVIEW RT program that publishes the channel data in your own format that you can write a non-platform specific interface to.

Document Management App that runs on OS X Server?
I need a CMS or EDMS application (for document management) that runs on the mini-mac server. Others will access via browser.
Thin-client application. Similar to DocuWare or OnBase or IBM Content Manager, but APPLE FRIENDLY!!!!!
Many thanks - [email protected]Devonthink Pro Office is a Mac compatible document management solution. Most people would use the full-blown Mac application to access it but it also provides a web-interface which can also be used by PCs as well as Macs.

Document Management - Save Changes Directly to Server
I have written a document management with struts technology. I have to change the download/upload system.
Currently Users access to the website and download .doc files to their workstation and modify them in their local and upload them to the server.
Now this is the I want to make:
User is openning file in IE already. Now they will modify in IE, and when they, maybe browser onClose, say save file, system save the document directly to the server. So they wont need to download and upload document. It will open in IE, they will change the document content, when they will say save, the system upload it to the server as byte[] automatically.
Is it possible to make it, and how can I do that?Weird.

Why does reindex documents at Server in the Configuration Manager break the help system?
Background:
So, I have a nice hosted help system on Server 9. I'm using the Access database since it's a light load project. It works OK. All admin features work OK (except groups and users bug, unrelated), including reports on search and usage. So, I have been having a devil of a time making a particular search term work in my project: UTS. It's an acronym for a system at my work, and it's important that users be able to search on it. UTS is in several Heading 1s. It's not in the stop list as a typo. Just to be sure, I deleted the whole stop list. I added "UTS" as a topic keyword. It still refuses to find any results. Also, I've noticed some other peculiarities with search: the "context" displayed below the search result is supposed to show the word you searched for in its context, but it never does in my search results. It just shows the first words of the document it's listed as a hit in search. The search is not bad, but these two bugs were odd enough to me to start rooting around for solutions.
So, I run Server 9 on Windows Server 2008 R2 with Tomcat 7 and JDK 7u17.
The problem:
I noticed in all the Server documentation that Adobe crows about the wonderful full text search powered by Lucene, and how it's checked "on" by default in all contexts. It's not in mine. When I check "reindex documents at server," it breaks the project. Literally--Server can't find the project anymore, web calls come back with no answer. Uncheck the box, A-OK. So, why is this wonderful search technology not available to me? Is it because it's not available when using default Access? Or is something else going on here?
many thanks in advance.

Robohelp HTML11/Server 9 userThe problem is that my data collection software (VisualPlant by EMT) is unable to browse to the National Instruments.LookoutOPCServer. When I added an Identification category to the registry entry for the lookout OPC server I was able to connect but with some odd behavior. My setup is:
2 machines each running Win NT4 SP6a. One machine is running Lookout as well as several other OPC servers. The other is running my data collection software. I am able to connect to lookout using several client apps on my data collection machine (Kepware's Quick Client, and Matrikon's Client), however my data collection software (VisualPlant) cannot see Lookout. Using the NI server explorer and viewing the properties of all of my OPC servers I noticed that Lookout was the on
ly one listed that did not have a CatID. By modifying the registry and adding the ID's listed in my original note I was able to connect using VisualPlant, however this exibited some odd behavior. It appears that adding this setting prevents multiple OPC connections to Lookout. If you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks. -
Hi All, looking for some assistance with the following issue.
We are attempting to upgrade our Operations Manager 2012 SP1 environment to Operations Manager 2012 R2.
We have completed all the pre-upgrade tasks detailed here

Starting a managed server as standalone
greetings
environment: weblogic 7.0 clustered on 2 sun boxes (1 box has admin server and
a managed server, the other just managed server).
we recently had hardware failure on on the box with the admin server and the managed
server. I need to document how to get the lone managed server up and running w/o
the adminserver/box available. I would like know if, in theory, I could start
the managed server as standalone? That is, normally the managed server is started
by using startManagedWebLogic.sh, could I use startWebLogic.sh and would it work?
I dont have a real test environment to test it out or I would have done that (this
config exists in production only). Any thoughts on this greatly appreciated. thanks
in advance

Paul, look in the document titled "Creating and Configuring WebLogic Server
Domains" (rev. September 2002), chapter 4, section "Starting a Managed
Server when the Administration Server is not accessible".
I think you are supposed to continue to use the startManagedWebLogic.sh
script, even when the Administration Server (AS) is down. When the Managed
Server (MS) fails to connect to the AS, it will fall-back on local copies of
the configuration files. Now, the problem is how to keep the local
configuration files on the MS in sync with the AS files. If you have MS1
running from the same directory as the AS, then you should be fine. But with
MS2 running on a different piece of hardware, you must either manually copy
the relevant files, or you must (before disaster strikes) enable replication
of the files.

How to show document title instead of file name in Document Manager
In WebCenter Portal 11g PS5, there is the Document Manager task flow:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/webcenter.1111/e10149/content_doctf.htm#BABGAICC
it displays a list of a Folder and its contents, much alike the output of the COLLECTION_DISPLAY service in the Content Server.
I was wondering if there is a way (customization) to display the dDocTitle of content items (or particular content items) instead of the file name.
While displaying the filename makes sense in a lot of cases we have a lot of Contributor Data Files that are saved as dDocName.xml which doesn't make much sense to the user viewing the folder they are stored in.This is now possible using a customization and additional command-line properties, see the following Support note:

Link Invoice Document using Easy Document Management
Hi All, is there any way to use Easy Document Management System to attach a scanned document like a PDF to an invoice document.
If it is there, is it easy to customize?
We are trying to evaluate different scanning solutions and trying to see if we can make DMS work without purchasing any other software.
ThanksWrong module. DMS is not designed for invoices. DMS is designed for documents that change and need versioning.
ArchiveLink is the correct solution/module. This allows you to link incoming invoices directly to the object in SAP in MIRO and FB60.
If its outgoing invoices, you can link them to sales orders. The document is stored in the GOS (generic object services) area of SAP and will appear in the attachment list. If you go to GOS you will see an option called "Store Business Document" which will be made available when you have configured this properly.
There is no easy way to customise. You have to install a content server (See SAP HTTP content server) and then configure the document type and which object it will be linked to. You also have to configure the method of processing. I.e. early archiving, late archiving.
It is possible to set this up using no external software except the SAP HTTP content server which is free with your SAP licensing. -
Comparision between SAP Easy Document Management and MOSS2007
Hi,
Could anyone please guide what are the differet features available in SAP EASY DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT solution which are not present in MOSS2007.
I know both are very good and very robust solutions but i want to know which one is having better qualities.
Please guide.
Thanks and Regardshi,
Acually speeking yes all product have their own advantage and dis advantages also. but alsways but as consultant, we could refeiring Edms, coz,
The types of documents range from "documents" in proprietary SAP format typically stored in the SAP database (such as financial documents, purchase orders, closed master records) to documents usually created, viewed and/or edited by applications other than SAP, though they may have some significance or bearing on business processes within the SAP system
itself (for example, technical drawings referenced from bill of materials stored in the SAP database).
Also, we could use external content server to store enormose data with out affecting the performance. also her we could extend[scale up] Content server.
this is like similar to Windows, user need not know full SAP. even though can work EDMS.
By using EDMS, we can integrate to Logisic [SAP] copmonents.
Also by Interfacing with, third party applction software like Acad, UG, Lous note........etc

Document Management System(DMS)
Dear Expert,
We need to store the Employee revision letters( in PDF format) in DMS. Letters are currently in HTML format which we will convert them in to PDF format & store the same thru Document Magement System (DMS).
I would like to know,
1. How can we use DMS to store the letters in PDF format?
2. Where can I find DMS configuration part in SPRO?
3. I understand that DMS is a unique concept availabe in SAP HR. So how can I link DMS to HCM?
4. Is SAP Archive link related to DMS ?
5. Any documents/links related to this kinldy send it across.
Thanks in Advnace,
Regards,
Damodar Pai.hi
try with this
SAP DMS - Document Management System
SAP DMS are for storing documents such as CAD drawings, Materials pictures etc.
With the document management system, users will be able to view the documents with ease within their SAP systems.
Installing the SAP DMS requires a little bit of planning on how you want to do it.
You have to give a little thoughts to stuff such as :-
1. The total numbers of documents that will be store monthly.
2. The average file size of each documents.
3. The capacity of your present R/3 system.
4. Your present network bandwidth.
5. Document Archiving Strategy.
6. Backup and Recovery Plan.
Additional purchasing of hardware are required, especially if you have large amount of documents to stored.
With this in mind, you can then decide on how you want to do it.
You can do this in a few ways :-
1. Import the documents into the R/3 system.
2. Use an external document server.
3. Have a dedicated PCs where all the documents are stored.
Most companies that intend to used DMS will opt for Option 2 as they does not want to overstretch the R/3 database.
Options 1 requires you to setup the conversion interface.
The conversion interface allows R/3 to automatically covert your files and import it into the R/3 database.
Here is a simple example of storing documents into your PCs, just to have a feel how the SAP DMS works:-

Assigning Documents to a Material Master Record
Access a material master record in Create or Change mode, and select Basic Data.
To create links to documents, choose Additional data -> Document data.
The Link to Documents dialog box appears.
Assign one or more documents to the material.
If you do not know what the document number is, you can search for it using the search help or by choosing Find document.
When assigning a document to a material, you have the following options:
1. Viewing the document by choosing it in the Link to Documents dialog box.
2. Viewing any originals of the document by positioning the cursor on the document and
choosing Display originals in the Link to Documents dialog box.
To return to the Basic Data screen, choose Continue.
Save your data.
