Option-delete

Pressing option-delete should delete the last word before the cursor. However, occasionally while editing documents in Pages 5.1, I will hit option-delete and it will delete several characters in front of the cursor as well. This seems to happen when I am at the end of a paragraph; it will take out all line breaks after the cursor until the next paragraph, and even a few characters in the first word of the next paragraph as well. Is this a bug in Pages, or am I doing something wrong without realizing it?

I am using a U.S. Mac extended keyboard. There are two delete keys. If one uses the red outlined key with option+Delete, then the word before the insertion point is deleted. The other delete key below the fn key will not delete the word preceding the insertion point. Instead, it will delete the intervening punctuation, or whitespace, and the next word. This will occur in the middle, or at the end of a sentence, or sentence wrap. Use only the red outlined delete key.
If you do not have it, here is the Pages v5.0 keyboard shortcut guide. It has been nearly a year since Pages v5 was released. There have been no significant Apple updates, despite an avalanche of negative user feedback.

In all prior versions of iTunes it was possible to option+delete a single or multiple tracks, which allowed users to delete the 'physical' files from their drives, as well as from the iTunes Library.
In iTunes 12, this option has seem to have disappeared (?)

Yes, that's how it's supposed to work. But it doesn't. Or it does only sometimes. Here's what indeed is supposed to be available when right-clicking:
Obviously I can click "delete" and it will ask me if I really want to and whether to send to trash, etc etc.
However, here's how it works with the next item down:

Tom at the Genius Bar told me that Option Delete would work. It does not.
I had to upgrade to iTunes 11.1.(I26) because it is required with OS7 on my iPod Touch (5th Gen). I have tried shutting down iTunes, then shutting down the entire system. This is the first in many visits that the Genius Bar gave me a solution that did not work.
This is a big awkward computer locked to my desk. I would rather not unlock it and then carry it through a shopping center to the Genius Bar if i can avoid oit.
When I installed iTunes 11.1, I discovered that Ihad to resubscribe to virtually all of the podcasts that I had previously been subscribed to. That was a surprise.

I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:

In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.

Issue with Option-Delete in Mail 4.4

For the longest time I have used Option-Delete keyboard shortcut in order to delete a message without having Mail display the next message (marking the next message as read in the process). I recently started noticing that when doing this, the messages are not going to the trash can and are instead being permanently deleted.
I can't find a definitive answer on when this might of changed of if this is in fact what is happening.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I have a similar problem. Here's my code:

This does not work even if destination is in the same directory.
Absolute paths also don't work, as well as relative paths.
I'm using a stock Amazon EC2 FMS.
Could you please help me? I want to avoid using cgi and external programs.

Using camera accessory, I have imported photos to my iPad 3rd generation. By mistake I have imported multiple copies of same photos. Now if I want to delete additional copies I can't. It gives me only one option "Delete everywhere" instead of delete 1copy

Disabling Option-Delete command

I'm in the habit of using Option-Delete as a way of deleting an entire word at once. In Bridge, however, Opt-Delete is the command to assign all selected photos a rating of "Reject." Is there a way to disable this key command so I don't inadvertantly keep labeling these photos (even though I'm getting in the habit of not using it)?

Do you have any docs, reference which talks, how custom.pll can be modified to suit business needs. Most of the links and docs i have gone thru says "if personalization is not possible, the change has to be done in CUSTOM.pll"I have already posted couple of docs.
None of them says how modifications can be done in CUSTOM.pll and what tool is required to do this.Use Oracle Developer (6i if you are on 11i and 10g if you are on R12).

Please note that you may lose your customization if you patch/upgrade the application and if the CUSTOM.pll needs to be replaced/copied, so make sure you always have a backup of this file.

Layer mask option delete not working

hi, new to forum. Looked up everything before posting now lost!
usually I can create an adjustment layer make changes, then option+delete and erase where I want the changes to take effect. but now I can not, option delete doesn't work and brings back the following error:
"Invalid numeric entry. An integer between -180 and 180 is required. Previous value inserted." I've tried resetting everything, uninstalling, etc. nothing seems to work. anyone know how to fix this?

I used to be able to add a layer mask by option delete
I think you are mistaken, option-delete fills with the foreground color, it does not add Layer Masks.
Is "Add Mask by Default" checked in the Adjustments Panel’s fly-out menu?

Why does Option-Delete delete layers on my macbook?

I am using Photoshop CS5 on my Macbook 2.13 GHz, and also on my Intel iMac. Bizarrely, when using PS on my Macbook, when I option-delete to fill with foreground color, it deletes the layer! This does not happen on my iMac or, it seems, on any other computer on earth! I've checked and rechecked my keyboard settings, my preferences, etc...have I missed a setting somewhere? Or let me rephrase: what setting have I missed?

Sorry, I had though it might be the seemingly-pressed-qualifier-key-issue that seemed to affect some users before Mac OS 10.6.7.
But if that is not it I can only recommend the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance etc.) which may be of no consequence here.

Settings>Messages>MMS Messaging>On/Off. Are you saying you have no such setting? If that's the case, is MMS provisioned on your account? MMS is a carrier feature, not a phone feature & such must be properly provisioned on your account. So, if no setting, contact your carrier.

Make option delete default

Is there a terminal command to reverse the delete and option delete behavior in mail?
So instead of having to hold option + delete, I can just hit delete and get the same results...

The only delete menu option is COMMAND+delete, which AFAICT, does exactly the same thing as the delete key; i.e., moves the selected item(s) to the Trash mailbox. OPTION+delete (delete without moving to the Trash mailbox) isn't in the menu bar, so you can't create a shortcut that will reverse those two separate shortcuts that don't have menu bar options. Sorry, I didn't check Mail before posting earlier.

Option+Delete in Mail

Option+Delete in Mail is supposed to delete the message but not select the next. I always used this, but am now noticing, maybe since Mavericks, that any email I do that with gets permanently deleted, without going to Trash. So it's just gone. It's not supposed to do that. Anyone know what's happening and if there's any way to fix that?

Solution for clearing IE-11 corrupted internet options deleting browser history.

Microsoft detected with a PC message, knowing my Internet Explorer is corrupted, and corrected it with some success in the past.
I didn't uninstall the suspect program in time, to keep "clear" of the problem internet options page looking (too"refined") and the (delete page) of browser history to function properly. I 'am now looking for a (direct solution) again
from MICROSOFT , to clear IE-11 of corrupted functions.

have an n78. when you go into messages can i add an option of delete all messages, it's a pain doing one by one

9300 wi-fi options deleted from menus

Hi, i bought few days ago BB Curve 9300 and i realized, that there is no wi-fi option, anywhere. I tried to unlock the phone, connect with the internet by BIS, deleted branding, gained access to engineer menu etc, but even though all those things were done properly, i can't get those options back.
If you have any ideas, or if i missed something in engineer menu, please tell me.
I'm really looking forward for your answers.

Notifications are great, but it needs an optional delete

I like the notificatification option in OS 10.8, but I would love the option to delete the email when the alert posts. Is this available?

Try changing your Mail Notification setting in System Preferences from Alerts to Banners. They appear for a while, then fade away.
Optionally, I have all three check boxes and 5 Recent Items selected.
With these settings, I do not need to purposely delete mail related messages in the side Notification panel.
