Option dragging regions disables macbook pro keyboard.

when option dragging to copy regions i hear a rapid clicking and then my macbook pro keyboard is disabled and i must restart to enable them? macbook pro is 10.6.8. snow leopard. logic pro is current. is this a bug or am i not doing something correctly.

This sounds like you have might have turned on one of the "accessibility' features of OS X..
or...
Did you install something else just prior to this problem occuring? It could well be the cause of the issue if you did so.....

  • Macbook Pro Keyboard and Trackpad Not Working

few days ago, my Macbook Pro keyboard and trackpad started to act very oddly.
Basically, the keyboard doesn't work at all. I press down the keys, and all I get is that error message sound. The volume and display brightness keys seem to work, but almost all of the others just won't type anything. it-s like any key command or alt would stay pressed so when i click any key its trying to perform other function instead of just typing the letter. that-s probably the reason why the trackpad is also being very odd. When I first turn on the laptop, it seems to work as normal. I can click on an application, and it opens. But about one minute after the laptop first starts, it's like anywhere I click on the trackpad is a right-click. To open an application, I click like I normally would but instead of opening, a menu pops up as if I right-clicked. This happens in Finder and everywhere else that I've tested (for instance, I can't drag any Finder windows to different positions on the screen, because it acts as if I right-clicked instead of left-clicked), no matter whether I tap or click the trackpad.
I have reset my permissions, but that didn't fix anything. I verified the hard drive and it said there were no problems. A big issue is that I can't do anything that requires me to type in my password, since I can't type anything. I tried to reset the PRAM, but I don't think that it even registered me pressing the Command-Option-P-R keys when I booted up, so i just removed the battery for a while, i am not sure that did anything at all.
i tried to reinstall the os, i had mavericks and i installed a fresh mountain lion but the problem persists. i recently installed virtualbox and the keyboard seems to work right as long as i do not press any of the following keys command, alt, shift, etc.. if i press any of them same thing happens. i found that if i connect a usb keyboard everything works, but when i use the inbuilt keyboard the problem is back and a i have to connect disconnect the usb keyboard to be able to type or use the trackpad normally.
    any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • How to type vertical line on macbook pro keyboards?

Please tell me how to type vertical line on macbook pro keyboards?

    (1) It sounds like you might be using a Spanish keyboard. You should specify this to begin with. Unless you do, the default assumption is that you're using a US keyboard. The advice you received is correct for the US keyboard.
    (2) To see how to enter any character available with your current keyboard, enable Keyboard Viewer, as described here
    <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.7/en/mh35878.html>
    (3) There is no "alt" key on a Mac keyboard. You are talking about the Option (⌥) key. See (search for "Alt key" in)
What's it called on my Mac?

    (4) My advice is move on from Fraise. AFAIK, it's dead. Try TextWrangler, which is free and more capable.

  • How can i change my macbook pro keyboard buttom english to arabic

How can i change my macbook pro keyboard buttom english to arabic

Apple does make and sell MacBook Pros with Arabic keyboards but, as far as I know, they're only sold in the Arabic market. You may be able to special order one: I don't know. You may even be able to order the keyboard only online or at your local Apple Store and have your English keyboard replaced. Again, I don't know.
The best thing to do, if you're in the US, is to call Apple at 1-800-MYAPPLE. Tell them what you need and see how they might go about fulfilling your needs.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Why does my Macbook pro keyboard and trackpad randomly become unresponsive forcing restart in OSX Mavericks?

Randomly when using OSX Mavericks, since installing yesterday, my mid-2012 Macbook Pro keyboard and trackpad freeze and become unresponsive.
The computer is still running whatever I was doing, the computer does not crash, i just cannot control it and the only way I have found as a fix is to restart.
This never happened in Mountain Lion.
    Can anyone help?

    Very similarly.
Mac Mini late 2012. i7 CPU, 16GB ram. 12GB unused.
After installing Mavericks, it seems to grind my system to a halt. It is still running (I can move the cursor and activity monitor updates processes) but every application I try to launch results in a colorful waiting sign. It even can take a minute or more before an application shows "any" sign of starting.
I tried to open a terminal session (so I could manually kill a process) but the terminal session did not even process. It timed out after 5 minutes.
Acitivity monitor shows 90-95% idle and I have no idea what's causing it.
I have already rebuild disk and reset permissions (all seemed fine) 3 times.
I've rebooted over 8 times since last night. I cannot use my Mac anymore reliably.
    Please help.

  • My MacBook Pro keyboard not working correctly after Win7 bootcamp installation. In OSx boot it keep Win keyboard. How can I have Mac keyboard in OS boot and Win keyboard in Win boot?

My MacBook Pro keyboard not working correctly after Win7 bootcamp installation.
Installation went well but when I boot either with OSx or Win it always keeps Windows keyboard.
How can I have Mac keyboard in OS boot and Win keyboard in Win boot?

Hi - I have the exact same model as your MacBook and had a few questions as mine is acting up. I upgraded the ram to 8gb (2x 4GB ram) and ever since then my computer has not been running as smoothly and the start up time is horrendous. Have you encountered this problem? And if so how did you fix? What would you advise me do?
I was thinking of reverting back to the original factory 4GB then rebooting the entire computer. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

  • HT2397 How can I check what region my Macbook pro has been set at.

How can I check what region my Macbook pro has been set at?

It will have been set for the region in which it was purchased.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2397
Once you have set the region in DVD Player five times it cannot be changed. However see tis also:

  • Some coffee got spilled on my MacBook Pro keyboard

Some coffee got spilled onto the keyboard of my MacBook Pro keyboard (it's the newest model), when it happened I turned it off immediately and quickly turned it over to have it drip out of the keys. I blow-dryed the keys with cool air and let it sit upside down for almost five hours. I went to turn it on and it started working fine. Is there a possibility that my laptop got liquid damage if it's turning on fine? Should I take it into an Apple Store to double check? There isn't one near me so I'm trying to avoid a trip if I can.

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service ASAP. You are not qualified to handle liquid spills on a computer.

  • Only part of my macbook pro keyboard backlight works

only part of my macbook pro keyboard backlight works , all settings and f6/7 keys work ok but only a triangle in the centre lights up, so the rest of the keyboard is dark.
    Pleqase someone shed some light.
    Bought in May 2012

It is likely a hardware defect.  If you bought it in May of 2012, it is still under warranty.  Take it back to the store or mail it in to be fixed.

  • New Macbook Pro Keyboard not working at all

My MacBook Pro keyboard is completely unresponsive. Any ideas?

    Hey Guys,
I figured it out. By searching some other cursor/mousepad thread: I had to do a PRAM reset. Now it's working!

  • My MacBook Pro keyboard doesn't work to log in, but lets me type if I'm logged in as a guest. What do I do?

My MacBook Pro keyboard doesn't work to log in, but lets me type if I'm logged in as a guest. What do I do?

    OK, some more info.
I have re-installed os/x and applied all of the updates.
I have tried to migrate my existing accounts and the problem consistently manifests as below:
    1. In a new user account, I can log in and use the keyboard then logout
    2. If I log in to the migrated user account, the non-numeric keys on the keyboard do not work. If I then log out, and try to log in to another account on the same machine, the non-numeric keys continue not to work.
This would seem to suggest that as the profiles being migrated are on a machine with the same version of up to date OS/X, the issue lies with either the Macbook Pro (other people have also had keyboard problems) or with the migration assistant not working properly given that the current profiles work fine on another mac.
    Any more ideas anyone?

  • My Macbook Pro keyboard AND USB keyboard will not work.  However, the trackpad and USB mouse will work.  Any help?

My Macbook Pro keyboard and USB keyboard will not work.  However, the trackpad and USB mouse will work.  Any help?
This is quite frustrating, since it randomly occured as I was browsing the web.  It seemed to happen out of nowhere.  I cannot login to my user account because I cannot type my password.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    -Matt

If you have another Mac, boot the non-working one into Target Disk Mode (holding down "T" at startup). Hook up the two Macs via a Firewire cable. The non-working one will mount on the other Mac as an external Firewire HD.
Next, download the 10.5.6 Combo update from here:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1056comboupdate .html
Run it. When it asks you for a destination, choose the other Mac that was mounted via Firewire. When it's done, unmount the computer and restart it. The keyboard and mouse should work now.

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro forum. This is the forum for the 13” white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • Macbook Pro keyboard not functioning upon waking.

    Hello Apple Discussion Community,
Since installing Yosemite, I have been running into an extremely annoying issue that I hope will be addressed in a future update. So far, I have searched Google and the Apple discussion forums for someone else experiencing this problem, but have had no luck.
I do not know how to recreate the bug, as it occurs randomly. Sometimes, after my computer goes into a brief sleep (monitor turns black) or a deep sleep (monitor turns black, external hard drives power down), the Macbook Pro keyboard will not function at all upon waking. No matter what key I hit, it will not respond -- as if it is not plugged in, despite being a component of the laptop.
I have read about people experiencing issues with Wireless/Bluetooth keyboards, but so far not with the physical laptop keyboard.
If it does not function right after a deep sleep, when I have to enter a password to log into my account, I must log into the guest account and use the virtual keyboard to enter in my username and password so I can restart the computer. After a restart, it functions properly.
Has anyone else experienced this bug? Does Apple know about this issue and can I expect it to be patched in the future? Is there any advice someone can give me to prevent this from occurring anymore? Do I have to re-wipe my computer and complete another fresh install of OS X Yosemite?
I'd appreciate any advice or information!
    Thanks,
    Dylan
