Option Express Card: How to manage

I have Option Express Card distribuited by Vodafone Italy. With 10.4 I had an application (Vodafone Mobile Connect 2.0.6) that did all the job. But at the moment the last release of VMC doesn't support MacOs 10.5. I asked Option for an help, and they said that they will release the upgrade within few weeks. But they also told me that the Express Card could be used with the drivers built in 10.5 I've tried but with no success...

This MyApp application (Application 100) was created by the HR Oracle account.
I could use
http://127.0.0.1:8080/htmldb/f?p=100
to run this application by logging in as hr/hr .
For the above URL, if I logged in as anotherOracleAccount/password, I got the 'Invalid Login Credentials' message.
As you said, I could use
http://127.0.0.1:8080/htmldb/f?p=4550
to get into HTML DB of the Oracle XE environment by logging in as anotherOracleAccount/password.
Since MyApp is using the HR-owned 'employees' table, should we grant some privileges on hr.employees to anotherOracleAccount?
I tried this, I still got the 'Invalid Login Credentials' message.

  • ATT Option Ultra Express Card Crashes Snow Leopard (Mac OS 10.6)

My Macbook Pro ran hot from continual SyncServer issues and Disk Utility Permissions that were unrepairable in Mac OS 10.5.8 Disk Utility.
So I upgraded to Snow Leopard and the Permissions pretty much cleared up, but a new problem arose:
My AT&T Option Ultra Express Card crashes Mac 10.6 as soon as it is inserted in the MP Pro, even after removing Globetrotter and launch2net software.
It seems as if Option needs to release a firmware upgrade to work with Snow Leopard, or Apple needs to sort out the incompatibility of Express Cards.
Until then, I'm paying AT&T monthly for mobile Internet service that is now unusable.

Since I've updated to Snow Leopard I've the same problem: CS4 crashes every time I quit it, but it seems to work properly.

  • Option Globetrotter Express card, Leopard, Roaming, IPCP

    Hello,
My Option 3G card works great at home (NL) however, whilst roaming, and with a data account which permits roaming, I am unable to get it to work with a 2.5G or 3G connection. The PPP session fails as such:
    Tue Nov 20 07:55:10 2007 : Initializing phone: ATE0V1&F&D2&C1&C2S0=0
    Tue Nov 20 07:55:10 2007 : Initializing PDP context: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","<my APN name>"

    Tue Nov 20 07:55:38 2007 : Serial link disconnected.
A colleague thinks that the problem with the IPCP line is to do with header compression, which, when using the Leopard native Option drivers, you can not disable with "PPP" settings as you can if you were using the device as a Modem or under 10.4.
    The device in question:
    http://www.option.com/products/globetrotterexpresshsupa.shtml
Anyone have any thoughts on how to get around whatever is going on with the IPCP errors?

Having turned on debug mode for pppd, I've found out more about the problem and determined that a lot of people are having similar issues with HSDPA. The problem has, as far as I can tell, only been fixed by people who recompile pppd and put in some extra hacks...I'm hesitant to do that on my Leopard box, but if I must, I will.
    Here's the main problem:
    Tue Dec 4 20:07:13 2007 : CHAP authentication succeeded
So, CHAP all went fine, which means it's time to move on to IPCP
    Tue Dec 4 20:07:13 2007 : sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x1 <addr 0.0.0.0> <ms-dns1 0.0.0.0> <ms-dns3 0.0.0.0>]
I don't have a default ip, or dns, and ask the server to send me both.
    Tue Dec 4 20:07:13 2007 : sent [IPV6CP ConfReq id=0x1 <addr fe80::0216:cbff:fe86:dcd7>]
    Tue Dec 4 20:07:13 2007 : rcvd [LCP ProtRej id=0x11 80 57 01 01 00 0e 01 0a 02 16 cb ff fe 86 dc d7]
I also send a request for an IPv6 address which is rejected. Interestingly, you can't disable this in Apple's pppd with "noipv6" in your /etc/ppp/options file, it still requests it anyway.
    Tue Dec 4 20:07:14 2007 : rcvd [IPCP ConfNak id=0x1 <ms-dns1 10.11.12.13> <ms-dns3 10.11.12.14> <ms-wins1 10.11.12.13> <ms-wins3 10.11.12.14>]
This is the response from the 3G network. It Nak's my request, and gives me two dns servers and two wins servers to use.
    Tue Dec 4 20:07:14 2007 : sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x2 <addr 0.0.0.0> <ms-dns1 10.11.12.13> <ms-dns3 10.11.12.14>]
Leopard's pppd then answers with the two dns servers that were sent to me, but again an empty IP address, which I believe is normal
    Tue Dec 4 20:07:15 2007 : rcvd [IPCP ConfNak id=0x2 <ms-dns1 10.11.12.13> <ms-dns3 10.11.12.14> <ms-wins1 10.11.12.13> <ms-wins3 10.11.12.14>]
    Tue Dec 4 20:07:15 2007 : sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x3 <addr 0.0.0.0> <ms-dns1 10.11.12.13> <ms-dns3 10.11.12.14>]
And again the request is Nak'd and again Leopard tries the same request...this goes on 12 times or so before finally:
    Tue Dec 4 20:07:28 2007 : IPCP: Maximum Config-Requests exceeded
Tue Dec 4 20:07:28 2007 : sent [LCP TermReq id=0x2 "No network protocols running"]
    Tue Dec 4 20:07:28 2007 : rcvd [LCP TermAck id=0x2]
    Tue Dec 4 20:07:28 2007 : Connection terminated.
It seems that people with Linux have hacked their pppd to accept the ms-wins values and that worked. I've tried setting ms-wins to various values in /etc/ppp/options, including 0.0.0.0 and the value provided by the server, but as I understand it, this value is only used when you ARE the ppp server, not when you're the client, as I am...so I would need some way to accept those values and throw them away.
In the case where it worked, on my home (NL) connection, the session goes like this:
    Mon Dec 3 17:30:09 2007 : sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x2 <addr 0.0.0.0> <ms-dns1 10.11.12.13> <ms-dns3 10.11.12.14>]

I've changed the actual IPs, but after the second request from Leopard for the same values, the ppp server at my "home" provider sends back something which triggers another NAK and then a request for just an IP address (no ms-dns). At that point the other side sends back a valid IP for me to use, and valid DNS servers, I ACK that, and everything connects as normal.
Not sure how to proceed from here, short of trying to find Darwin sources and hacking pppd...

  • How to eject sata drives on express card bus

I recently added a Siig sata express card and two serial drives to my MacBook Pro. When mounted in the Finder there is no grey "eject arrow" to the right of the icon in the side bar like there is for usb or firewire mounted drives. How can I get one? Right now the only way I know to properly unmount the drive is using the program MainMenu or Disk Utility. Thanks for the help in advance.

They are separate drives. My express card has two eSATA ports. I installed the drives without any RAID arrays. I do get the card icon in my menu bar when it is on. The only function it allows though, is to power off the card. If I power off the card without ejecting the drives I get the warning message that I didn't properly unmount the drives before disconnecting. I see no reason why I would need to RAID these drives to get the OS to recognize them as external.

  • [Solved]:How to Manage 2 LAN cards with WICD

    Hi all,
I have recently added an additional lan card to my system. Its configured and runs fine.
However the concern is that I use WICD to manage my broadband internet connection through LAN1 and now I want to use LAN2 to connect to Linux/Win client laptop/desktop to share data and internet connection but WICD can manage one interface at a time and with WICD enabled I cant use Arch network daemon(as per wicd archwiki)... how to manage two cards with WICD enabled??
    Thanks in advance.

Hi and thankls ngoonee, but then I rather use arch network than netcfg coz its not gui, and yep its not possible with wicd to manage two different lan cards simultaneously, tried and tested everything.Anyways i used wicd only coz it showed icon in sys tray(the lan cable keeps movin a lot so icons are really handy to make out if cable is connected or not). Well the only solution I could find is to manage it via arch network daemon, editing rc.conf and stuff...btw wen on my quest I found this archassistant tool, and its quite handy to 'manage' arch system including netcfg.
But m curious though, what more netcfg has to offer than that to default network daemon?
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers.

  • USB/eSata express card not working on stock kernel

    Hello everyone,
I have a weird problem and I don't seem to find any solution by myself. Let me give you some background info on what I plan to do.
I purchased an express card to eSata/USB 3.0 adapter and want to make it work on my laptops. Precisely, it is this card: http://www.amazon.de/Notebook-Express-C … B007F8TXZ8
    1: Lenovo X200s (1,6GHz) running Ubuntu 14.04 amd64
    2: Lenovo X200s (1,6GHz) running Debian 7 amd64
    3: Lenovo X200T (1,6GHz) running ArchLinux amd64
The card does work fine only on the Ubuntu machine. I would like to make it run on the two other ones as well. I thought I might get help here getting it to work on machine 3 and then transfer the results to machine 2. What really matters to me is eSata, btw, I do not even have a USB 3.0 device to test with.
First of all, here's what happens when I plug the card into machine 1:

Apart from the supposedly found block device (can't judge) I am not sure if there is anything that is really eSata specific and not USB 3.0 related.
So far what I think I can tell from the output is that the modules
    pciehp pci pcieport
seem to be dealing with the express card as such whereas
    xhci_hcd
takes care of USB 3.0. I cannot see any clear reference to the eSata connector, which might not be surprising if the bus is just passed through (again: not sure).

Sticking to my suspicion that this might just be a USB related issue and eSata might still work due to some sort of passthrough, I attached the very eSata drive that I could mount on Ubuntu. It did not work.
I then researched and found this blog post: http://okomestudio.net/biboroku/?p=1360
So I downloaded the pkgbuild for the arch linux core kernel and checked the config. It matched the recommendations.
Another hint I found was to unload acpiphp and force-reload it. However, this tip does not seem to apply to the arch kernel:
    [user@3-arch:~$ sudo rmmod acpiphp
rmmod: ERROR: Module acpiphp is builtin.
Anyone any idea on how to make the card work?
    Thank you!

For anyone else seeking help on that: Card slot was deactivated in 2/3 Bioses.

  • Option to Limit How Much Phone Storage Spotify Uses

I have a starred list that is not huge by most standards: 1700 songs or so.
It's too large to fit in the available storage on my phone which is 4 or 5 GB (some of the files are local files which are probably a bit bigger than the low-bitrate ones Spotify uses for streaming).
I have a Nexus 4 with no SD card slot.
For a long time that was no problem, Spotify occasionally complained that it was out of space but most of the songs were available when in airplane mode even if some weren't, and Android seemed to enforce that it always had enough space to upgrade apps and whatnot.
But now since I've upgraded to lollipop, Android wants to upgrade all my apps and a lot of them seem to have grown. Once available space goes below 500MB Android refuses to download app updates any more so I'm stuck without being able to update any apps.
I'm trying to figure out how to limit the size of the storage used by Spotify and I can't find a setting in Spotify or in Android to do that.
It seems amazing to me that neither Spotify nor Android have this capability.
If I can't do that my only options would be to create a second "Mobile Starred" list with less songs which would be a management nightmare, or delete all of Spotify's data via Android settings, upgrade my apps, then download the Starred list again, after which Spotify would just fill up the phone's storage again immediately and I'd be back in the same boat the next time an app wants to update.
If Android is not going to provide an option to limit how much storage is used, then Spotify should do it.
I don't know if this is also an issue on iOS or not.

    Hey agraham.
While perhaps not the solution you were looking for, I've just finished a Spotify web service that attempts to automate the creation of a limited-size randomly sampled playlist from a variety of sources (library and/or playlists). This would automate the creation of your  'Mobile Starred' playlist and will perhaps be sufficient for you as it was for me.
You can find it at http://shufflify.alexjf.net

  • Express Card on MBP Not working after Lion Upgrade

Since upgrading to Lion, the Express Card on my MBP (2009 model) is no longer working.  Any card inserted does not show up on the finder.  The Express card icon does show up on the menu bar and gives me the option to power off the card, but there's no way I founf to read the card anymore.
Disk Utility also does not see the card.
Any help available would be very appreciated.

    heeynorton wrote:
@EZ Jim. Unfortunatley that did not help.  I was very excited to try it as nothing else has worked, but to no prevail.  I suppose I'll have to take it into the Apple Store.
The Apple Service Techs will surely be able to get it working for you.  Regardless of how you proceed from here, be sure to make a current backup of all your important files first unless you already have done so.
If you have the time, and if you want to try one more thing before taking your Mac in for service,  a complete Lion reinstall may fix your problem.  If you did not do so before your initial Lion install, it may help to uninstall any PPC or Classic Apps.  These kinds of apps cannot run in Lion, and could be a source of software conflicts.  The easiest way I know to find PPC and Classic apps is to sort (by "kind") the list of Software > Applications listed in your Mac's System Information Utility.
Once you have uninstalled all PPC  and Classic apps, reinstall Lion.  If you need help, the instructions here explain how to reinstall Mac OS X while keeping your files and user settings intact: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.7/en/mchlp1599.html
If the problem persists even after this reinstall, (unless you have a hardware problem,) a complete erase and reinstall of OS X should get your system working.  The help article for this process is here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.7/en/mchlp1599.html  Erase and reinstall will take much more time, largely because you will need to reinstall all apps and then reload your data files from your backups.  To avoid the possibility or also restoring possible conflicts or problems, do NOT use migration assistant after erase and reinstall.  Rather, reinstall each app from its own installer and manually copy data you need.

  • Express card issue

    Hi Folks,
I upgraded to Leopard, then to Snow Leopard recently and just noticed that somewhere along the way my Express Card is no longer working. I can't even see it as a hardware device. I run XP via bootcamp mostly on the MBP, and the card works fine there so I know it is not a hardware issue.
If this a windows issue, I would remove the hardware drivers etc via the Device Manager. I have no clue how to completely remove and reinstall hardware on the Mac OSX though. Any suggestions?? Is there a similar feature within OSX?
I also tried optioncommand+PR on startup, it rebooted after a moment then booted normally and still did not work.

Is this a particular card not working or no cards work?
If it is specific card then it most likely is not Snow Leopard compatible or it needs updated drivers.

  • T420s Nvidia Graphics Card & Express Card Questions

Hello, and thank you for checking out my post.  My apologies for writing a book, but I'm hoping to give as much detail as needed the first go round.
I just received my custom-built T420s (4170-CTO) and have a couple technical questions/concerns about it.  The details of my configuration are located at the bottom of this post.
First off, one of the deciding factors of my purchase was the discrete graphics card.  On the T420s I chose NVIDIA NVS 4200M Optimus Graphics 1GB, Intel Core i7-2620M Processor.  I was thrilled to have more than 256 MB of dedicated graphics memory for my games.  Upon receiving my laptop, though, I ran the Windows Experience Index and saw that the lowest score was the graphics card, which is identified as Intel HD Graphics Family and has 64 MB of dedicated graphics memory.  After my heart started beating again I checked Device Manager and found under Display both Intel HD Graphics Family and NVIDIA NVS 4200M listed as working with up-to-date drivers.  When I configured the laptop online there was no mention of hybrid graphics, so I'm not sure why I have an Intel Graphics card on the machine.  My current laptop that I was looking to replace is a T61p with a NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M graphics card, and only that NVIDIA card is shown under Device Manager and in the Windows Experience / Performance Information.  Thinking that perhaps disabling the Intel card would cause the NVIDIA card to take over, I disabled that through Device Manager.  My screen went black and after feeling quite stupid I rebooted my computer.  The default Windows Display driver kicked in, allowing me to see well enough to get back to Device Manager and enable the Intel Graphics.  I counted myself lucky that I wasn't stuck with a working computer with a blank screen, but I'm still confused about why the NVIDIA card isn't the only display adapter on the machine, and why it isn't the default/main adapter.  Most importantly, will it be usable to run my games?
My second question is regarding the PCI ExpressCard slot.  My aim for this machine was to have a HDD to store my data (I selected the 320GB 7200 RPM HDD) and a SSD to boot and run my programs from.  Another reason for choosing this machine was the comment on Lenovo's site stating that a user booted his T420s from a solid state drive in the PCI ExpressCard slot, which was exactly was I was looking for.  I need the CD/DVD drive, so I can't put the second hard drive in a caddy.  During configuration I chose the option for an Express Card Slot & 4 in 1 Card Reader & Smart Card Reader.  From what I can tell, the Express Card slot is not connected to the Card Readers and I will not lose use of those ports.  When I opened the computer up to install more RAM, I saw what is labeled in Lenovo's hardware manual as the Express Card slot, apparently empty - which is great!  Now I need to figure out what kind of SSD to look for, and on that I'm kinda lost.
I'm guessing that my ExpressCard slot is 34mm and PCI form factor rather than USB... but I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a not-incredibly-educated guess.  I'm also not sure where mSATA comes into play for me, if at all.  Looking at SSDs on sites such as newegg.com, I'm unsure of what form factor to choose - ExpressCard, PCI-E, mSATA, and/or 1.8"?
The tech specs of my configured T420s (copy/pasted from the order status) are as follows.  I hope this means more to you than it does to me.

The T420s with Nvidia GPU has two graphics card that can switch on the fly, if you only want the discrete gpu, just go into your bios menu under graphics there is an option to select discrete.
With the Nvidia Optimus (which is what you have), it can switch between Nvidia and Intel GPU depending on your application needs. This will allow you to conserve battery or power.
Expresscard slot 34 mm slot is occupied by the card reader that you ordered.
What you are talking about within the ram slot cover, is the mPCIe slot, which can be occupied by a mSATA drive.

  • Must reseat My x-fi express card every time I restart my computer

AMust reseat My x-fi express card every time I restart my computerW I am forced to reseat my x-fi express notebook card every time I turn my computer on in order for it to work which is very frustrating since I do a lot of video recording by Firewire and need the card to work reliably. Once i reseat it into the express slot, it works fine, but not before then.
    I have a Dell XPS M730 running XP sp3.
It is apparently a driver problem because if I forget to reseat during bootup, both Sony Sound Forge and Adobe Premiere Pro .5 freeze up when I try to load them at they are scanning for audio devices.
    So far I've tried:
    1) disabling the on-board sound card hoping to eliminate a possbile confilct.
    2. Downloading the latest drivers, etc.
Does anyone have an idea of how to solve the problem?
    Thanks

    1. If you log in automatically, a bug in some versions of OS X will cause the desktop picture to revert to the default image at every startup. The only known workaround is to disable automatic login in the Users & Groups preference pane.
    2. If the selected Desktop picture is stored in an iPhoto library on an external drive, export it from iPhoto and move it to a folder on the startup volume. (Credit for this solution to ASC member janay.)
    3. If the desktop picture always reverts to a plain blue background, one of your login items may be causing the problem. The "TeamViewer" application can have this effect; see this thread. If it's not that in your case, rule out all other third-party login items as possible causes.
    4. If you have a MacBook Pro with automatic graphics switching, disable it temporarily in the Energy Saver preference pane, set the Desktop picture, then restart the computer and re-enable graphics switching.
    5. If none of the above applies to you, proceed as follows.
    Back up all data.
In the Finder, hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
from the menu bar. From the Library folder, delete the following item, if it exists:
              Caches/com.apple.systempreferences
and move the following items to the Desktop, if they exist:
              Application Support/Dock/desktoppicture.db
              Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
Launch System Preferences and test. If you still have the issue, put the items you moved to the Desktop back where they came from and post again. Otherwise, delete the items.

  • HP Pavilion DV7 1240us Express Card Slot Stopped Working

My express card slot stopped working.
The tech I was working with for the HP tuner card seems to think it is a driver or hardware issue.
Please see the email string below.
I tried all I know to get the slot to work, but I do not know which driver for it.
    Please help me.
    Thanks in advance.
    Below are the emails.
Thanks, the problem is I do not know which driver it is.
I looked through the entire device manager tree, and do not know which driver controls the express slot, can you send me in the right direction?
I have an HP Pavilion DV& 1240us laptop.
Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

Without inserting another device into the slot the only thing I can think of is checking device manager for the drivers for that express slot and see if they are installed or reinstall the drivers.
If the device works on another laptop but continues to have problems on the first one then there must be something going on with the express slot on the first laptop.

No I do not, have you had this type of issue before?
Could it be missing or corrupt drivers?
Is there a way to test the slot without a device, checking drivers etc..

Do you have another express card device that you can plug into the laptop in question and see if something malfunctioned on the slot possibly?

Yes it is connected directly, it does not even get recognized by device manager.
No default beep when plugging and unplugging.
IT USED TO WORK NO PROBLEM.
It will work in another laptop.
I am a tech by trade, so if I have to edit the registry, etc.. let me know.
Right now I am baffled, what can I do.

    Hello,
Are you making sure to connect the 1500 directly into the express slot in the laptop and into a usb converter?
When it is plugged in does anything appear in device manager with a yellow mark next to it? Is it being listed under sound, video, game controllers at all?

Problem description: My tuner stopped working,I used HWclear to no avail.
The tuner works in another laptop, so it is not the hardware.
Will not make the customary sound when plugged and unplugged.
I am very PC savy and tried all I know, driver reinstall etc..
    Please help.
    Thanks

    Hey there,
Can you explain more on this issue? I see by the emails the Express card slot is not functioning. What you are using in the card slot? Is the the HP TV Tuner card? If so, do you have another express card handy so you could test to see if it was the card or the slot? If your missing the driver you will need to use the HP Recovery CD to reinstall the TV Tuner driver.

  • Firewire express card issue on X230

    Hi all,
I need a firewire port to support a wavefront analyser for my company. I was using before a couple of cards with my X200T and everything was fine.
I just got a X230 with all driver and bios up to date and one of my express card isn't working.
It does still work on the X200T, i've got the new hardware connection under windows 7, but the IEEE1394 card doesn"t show up in the hardware manager, neither the analyser if a connect it to the card.
The other card, that is also based upon a TI chipset, does works.
That is weird. I got some hope upgrading the BIOS to the 1.13 release, but that didn't change anything. Maybe some option somewhere ?
    Frédéric.

Is this a particular card not working or no cards work?
If it is specific card then it most likely is not Snow Leopard compatible or it needs updated drivers.

  • Is there express card slot to install eSata ?

    Hi,
    Product Name: pavilion dv6
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
Product name: HP Pavilion dv6-6093ex Entertainment Notebook PC support.
    Product number: LM610EA#A2N
According to the pictures of my product I posted below , there is no express card slot. So eSata is out. And as I was said, there is no real functional difference between an enclosure and a cable. Is there a very good option to have eStat port?

    Thanks a lot,
As you said my HP Pavilion dv6-6093ex Entertainment Notebook PC support does NOT have [B]eSATA/USB combination port. So, I really don't see any eSata port on the case of my laptop, such as USB3, USB2 ports, and other connectors, such VGA, and HDMI, and so on.
However, my question is  as long as my my HP Pavilion dv6-6093ex Entertainment Notebook PC support does NOT have [B]eSATA/USB combination port, then I don't know if my existing internal Toshiba HDD drive is connected to an eSata interface port of my laptop or not.
Moreover, What  I know is that an eSata port can be a port inside a PC, and not shown in the left/right side of the case of a PC like USB3/2.  As a result, if I want to convert  my existing internal Toshiba HDD drive as an external HDD to be connected to a  USB 3.0/2.0 port, how could I do as long as my existing internal Toshiba HDD drive has only eSata interface port, or otherwise it cannot be  installed inside my laptop via eSata port.

  • Airport Express Card Installation Problem

I purchased an Airport Express card for my PowerMac G5 (Dual 1.8ghz)...after installing the card and rebooting the computer, I just got a black screen. I know the "late 2005 Models" particularly the October 2005 models are not able to use the Express card....but mine was purchased in Feb. 2005.
I really need wireless capabilities and I'm stuck on what my options are. Apple customer service said my computer is "airport express ready" and should take the card....but no matter how many times I try to install, I get a black screen.
Has anyone had a similar problem or have any solutions....I'm moving to a place where I will not be able to directly connect through a hard line (Ethernet)...Thank you in advance!

The AirPort Extreme card is compatible with your Power Mac G5.
One or more of the following is true:
The AirPort Extreme card is defective.
    The card is installed incorrectly.
The Power Mac's motherboard is defective and failing to recognize the card.
