Option for Automatic two sided printing no longer available

Win 7 and HP c7280,  Word 2010.  Everything worked fine yeasterday but today when I tried to change from one sided to automatic two sided printing I got only two choices, one page or manual two sided.  It is set for automatic  in the printer properties but in the panel where it asks what you want to print I put in entire documant and then below that it asks for one sided or drop down menu used to say manula or automatic two sided, now it only says manual.  What happened and how to I fix it.  Printer Setup says the extra atachment is "installed"

Welcome back to the HP Community , I read your post about the print settings that seem to be missing from Word 2010. I have a few ideas in mind that may help you below. 1. Run the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there was a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results. 2. Uninstalling the Printer Software, restart the PC and reinstall the printer. 3. Print from other programs, and if you find the issue only in Microsoft Word 2010, post this issue in the Microsoft Forums to see if an expert there can help! • I have a psc 2175 all-in-one. "Automatic Two Sided Printing Module Is Missing."

Whenever I try to print on both sides of the paper, I get this message:
Automatic Two Sided Printing Module is Missing."
There doesn't seem to be anywhere that a module would be inserted into this printer. Am I missing something here? Very confusing! Please help!

Via the control panel, find your printer and right-click it and choose "Printing Defaults..."  From there click the Services tab and open the HP Toolbox.  In there click the Configuration tab and un-check "Automatic Two-Sided Printing Module" and click "Apply".  This will get back the dialog that tells you when it's time to turn your pages around.

  • C6280: Can't select automatic two-sided printing

    Hi:
I am using an HP laptop running Windows Vista 32-bit Home Premium.
I had previously fully uninstalled my HP Photosmart C6280 all-in-one printer.
Today, I reinstalled it using the CD-ROM that came with the printer.
When I went to print an MS Word document, I was not presented with the normal set of
    Print options/settings to choose from.
I could not select Automatic doubled-sided printing: it wasn't in the drop-down menu.
When I selected Print from Word's File menu, a print dialog box opened: it's title was HP Photosmart 6200 Series Document Properties. From within this, I selected:
Properties > Printing Shortcuts Tab > General Everyday Printing.
in the lower right area of this panel, is a drop-down menu titled, "Print on both sides".
It offered the following options to select from:
Off, Manual, Left-edge booklet, Right-edge booklet.
The option, "Automatic" was missing from this list: previously, it was directly below Manual.
I do not remember if the Left/Right edge options were there before.
Directly below this drop-down menu is that for selecting Orientation: Portrait or Landscape.
So now, I am unable to do automatic 2-sided printing.
If I click on Duplex instead of General Everyday , I briefly see the word Automatic in the menu, but is replaced with Manual. Also, for this Duplex mode, the Orientation drop-down me u is missing/hidden. I do not know if it is supposed to be that way.
The Problem: Why do I no longer have the option to do Automatic 2-sided printing ?
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks

The duplexer needs to be enabled in the driver as discussed in the Vista/Win 7 Duplex Printing Troubleshooting Guide here.

  • HP Photsmart Printer D5360 Stopped automatic two sided Printing

Last week I had to purchase a new system. I got a HP Elite HPE 400y. I already had a HP Photosmart D5360 printer that automatically printed on both sides of the paper. Now that it is connected to the new Elite system the option for it to automatically print on both sides of the paper is no longer available to me. I’ve checked and I think I got all the window 7 Drivers installed so I don’t understand why I can no longer  print on the two sides of the page without my having to turn the paper around. I’ve checked several times and the module for making the printer print on both sides is installed and secure so this problem is making no sense to me. Can someone please help? I print a very large database often and with it being over 55 pages I don’t relish the idea of having to sit at the printer and turn the pages around all the time.

The default is the duplexer is set to "not installed", you will need to set the duplexer hardware as installed.  See the Vista/Windows 7 Duplex Printing Troubleshooting Guide here for details.

  • Problem with two sided printing

I routinely did two sided printing with my C7280 All-In-One printer, using Vista.  But, now that I upgraded to Windows 7, I can no longer do so.  When I select two sided printing, a three picture window appears, which instructs me to turn over the odd numbered pages that are printed out first, following by printing of the even numbered pages on the reverse sides of the odd numbered ones.  When I use another computer that still has Vista, all works well; i.e., each page is pulled in again, and the second page is printed on the opposite side of the preceding page.  I have uploaded the new printer drivers for Windows 7, but still can't get it to automatically print two sided.  How can I correct this?

Go to the first post in the link I gave and read the details. In particular:
No option for two-sided printing. The selection for automatic two sided printing may be grayed out, or only manual duplexing is offered.  This typically occurs because the duplexer is not recognized as installed, or the driver may default to not installed.   To correct this in Vista do the following: go to Start, Control Panel, Printers, right-click on the printer, Run as Administrator, Properties, (continue), Device Settings, Installable Options, set the "Two Sided Duplex Unit" to installed, OK.  For Windows 7 the method is similar:  go to Start, Devices and Printers, right click on the printer, Printer properties, Device settings, Installable Options, set the "Two Sided Duplex Unit" to installed, OK.

  • Best Printer for Two-Sided Printing?

    Hi all,
I do a lot of printing of very long documents (up to 300 pages each) - right now I have an Epson CX4800 Inkjet which works very well, but I fear I am running it into the ground. Also, I am going through tons of paper and ink. I'd like to get an inexpensive laser printer (under $300) that can do duplex (two-sided) printing so that I can use less paper when printing out early drafts of projects. I don't want to have to manually flip the pages over and put them back through the printer because I am a ditz and a klutz and always wind up getting the pages in the wrong order when I do this - thus wasting even more paper. I just want a printer that can do automatic two-sided printing for under $300. Am I delusional?
mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

No matter what printer you are going for (please specify if you are looking for a colour or mono laser), the biggest expense you would encounter are consumables: toner, drums, transport belts, fuser unit. The reason you should do that first is that consumers are lured into buying a cheap printer and by the time of the first toner change they have to spend as much money as they did on a printer.
What you have to do first is look around for a printer that has lowest cost for consumables (i.e. lowest cost per page print). The easiest thing to do would be take a supplier of consumables, and write down all the prices for the toner for specific models of printers, then divide them by the number of pages you can print from that toner - in this case you will get a breakdown for each colour: say, a replacement toner costs £50 and yields 4500 prints (with standard 5% page coverage) = 1p per page for that colour. Then compare this costs against the costs of your other candidates and you got yourself the most cost-efficient printer.
Besides that though, you might hav e to spend money on things like drum (lasts for about 25000-40000 pages in SOHO printers) and transfer belt (again, 25000-40000) - but that all depends on a printer, as sometimes toner and drum are separated, so you have to get both, sometimes they are in one set, which cuts your costs.
In my case, I've got a Xerox Phaser 6120, and although it might not be suited for you, it's OK for me as duplex unit can be added on, and I don't do this many prints. In your case my biggest concern would be, as I have said, the prices for consumables.

  • Printing with HP Officejet 7310 Automatic two sided and 2 pages on one sheet

I am trying to print from power point slides with my HP Officejet 7310 with Automatic two sided printing capabilities and I would like to print 2 slides on each page.  Can this be acomplished and is so how?  Thanks

Not necessarily the cleanest, but you can print to a new PDF file. In the printer properties, select the page size, and multi-up option. You might also find that on the pdf printer menu (at least I have that on my AA8.1.2). You may still have to select the paper size, since it is different from the original.

  • Two-sided printing problem with a Photosmart 6510

I have a new Photosmart 6510 and it is supposed to come with automatic two-sided printing.
I have tried printing two-sided and followed the advice of many previous thread but it has not worked.
I am using a Mac OS X version 10.5.8 and Microsoft Word 2008.
When I go to the drop-down menu in the Print window and go to 'two-sided printing' the option to print both sides is greyed out, and it says that the paper type and size settings do not support two-sided printing. What size paper should I select and where can I do this?
    Any help would be great.
    Thank-you

    Hi,
    Please try the following settings:
1.From the application used to print, click the File menu, then select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized. Click the blue triangle next to the printer name to see all available settings.
    2. To select the binding type click the lowest selection box listed as Copies & Pages.
    3. Select Layout from the drop-down menu.
    4. Set the Two-Sided option as Long-Edge binding.
If I'm not wrong, the duplexer support only A4 and Letter sizes
You may save the settings for future use by clicking Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset...
Please let me know if you were able to successfully perform two-sided printing.

  • Two sided printing on macbook with hp officejet pro 8500a

I've got a hp officejet pro 8500a printer installed on my mac os x but i cant find the option of automatic 2-sided printing. How to turn on this function/anybody knows ?

    Hello OLTO,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the printer going into sleep mode and not waking up when a print job is sent.
This could possibly be a power issue or in a lot of cases, a lack there of.
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I also suggest downloading and installing the HP Officejet Pro Firmware
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • MP620 Two Sided Printing

Can someone explain to me what happened to the two sided printing that was available in Mac OS X Leopard. Since i've upgrade to Snow Leopard i can't seem to be able to print on two side of the page. I find it a little bit stupid because the printer was bought for it's multifunction INCLUDING two sided printing and now I cannot do it anymore. If any of you know what i can do to get to option back if there is a specific set of drivers that i need to download to do so or whatever
    I would really appreciate it
    Thank You

This is so frustrating I've just tried to do duplex printing in windows 2000 WINDOWS 2000 and it works now why would they disable that option from the new set of drivers.
    I'm sooo mad right now.
This is no way to do things. Promote a printer, have people buying it for a specific set of features and deciding out of the blue that they will deactivate some option for no reason. I say plenty of options in the printer menu that 90% of the people will never use but one useful option that 100% of people use duplex printing Apple decides that they take that off.
I really doubt it is on Canons side caus if it was duplex would not work in windows 2000 but it does.
    I'm just ****** right now

  • How can I print black ink only when in automatic two-sided mode for Officejet 6500?

When I set the printer to automatically print on two sides, it only allows color or high quality grayscale as print color options.  If I print on only one side, then I have a third option for black ink only.  Does anyone know how to get black ink only while getting two sided printing automatically?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Sorry, this is not an option.  When printing the front page of a duplexed page the black is underprinted with color to make the print "set" and dry faster.  As a result "black only" is not an option when printing automatically duplexed pages.

  • Two sided printing on HP with Yosemite no longer available?

Since updating my iMac to the latest Yosemite, (10.10.2) my HP all in one C6280 printer does not even offer the option of two sided printing.  Is there a way to get this feature back? The printer used to do two sided printing, and the option used to come up, but no longer seems to be there.  I read several posts which suggested renaming a preset, but in the preset dialog box, it indicates that this is no longer an option.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

If it's greyed out, it could mean that your device does not support duplex printing under OS X.  One thing you could try if you haven't already is remove the printer entirely then add it back in again.  The drivers that Apple supplies are the latest drivers for this device, there are no full-featured drivers available for this OS version.
Also, verify that you are using the proper steps for manual duplex printing:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-6500A-e-All-in-One-Printer-seri es---E7/4083974/model/4083869/document/c…
If that doesn't work, you could try this two-sided printing application from HP:
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL35975/mp-88750-2/HP_Two-sided_Printi ng.dmg
If the above doesn't work, I think an email to HP support is in order.  I suspect that they dropped support for duplex printing for your device with the later OS versions.  When was the last time you had duplex support?  Was it automatic or manual (i.e. you had to flip pages and print again)?

  • Two sided printing option disappeared?

I have an HP Officejet 6700 Premium printer, copier, scanner, fax, etc.  Initially I could have the option of two sided printing both as a printer and a copier.  I can no longer access that option.  It has disappeared from the screen.  What can I do?

    Hi Tiqlov,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I gather that you can no longer choose the double sided option on your Officejet 6700 printer.
Please follow the steps in Resetting Your Printer and ensure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet.  For reference purposes I’ve also included Printing on Both Sides of the Paper (Duplexing) document.

  • Two sided print option is grey out

Recently, I noticed that when I need to print two-sided documents, the "two-sided" print option is greyed out.  I have gone into System Preferences  Printers & Scanners- and under "options" for the printer enabled the HP Two-sided Printing Accesory (Duplexer).  This button continues to disengage (won't remain enabled) and each time I need to print two-sided, I have to repeat the above process. Hi,Try resetting the printing system and check if that may help:*Be aware that resetting the printer system will remove any existing print queue and reset any customized driver settings.
Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences .
    Select Printers & Scanners.
Right-click (or Ctrl + click) your product in the Printers list in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system .
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type your user Name and Password .
Click OK . The printing system resets. Next click the plus sign and select the listed printer. Within the Use drop down menu select the printer model and press the Add button. Hope that may help,Shlomi
