Option to create new folder on bookmarks toolbar by right-clicking is missing

The title says it all. This option has been available forever and recently it has gone missing -- it is not listed in the context menu. I can still create new folders that appear on the bookmarks toolbar by going to:
Bookmarks-->"Show All Bookmarks" and then right-clicking on the "Bookmarks Toolbar" heading
The right-click option is still available there. But it is also missing when I go to Bookmarks and right-click on "Bookmarks Toolbar". The option is listed in the context menu but it is greyed out.
I have not made any changes to FF in recent memory, although I do not pay much attention to automatic updates. This is not urgent. It was just a convenient option and it has disappeared for no apparent reason.

Thanks. That had some effect. The option to create a new folder is no longer greyed out in the context menu when I navigate to:
Bookmarks-->"Bookmarks Toolbar"
and right click on the latter. However, the action does not work and the option is still missing from the context menu of the bookmarks toolbar itself.

  • HT2476 Why when clicking the right mouse button for my external hard drive there is no option for "create new folder"?

Hi there. I'm having a problem with my external hard drive. Actually with only one of them (others seem to be ok...). The problem is that when clicking the right mouse button (or using other ways to do the same), in the drop-down list there isn't an option for "create new folder". Please, can anyone help with this issue?

The drive is NTFS formated. Most probably that's the reason, but there is some info on the drive which I wouldn't like to loose. If there is a way to re-format the drive and save the files, that would be great. If there isn't such a way, then please, tell me how to re-format it. But bear in mind as well that I'm using Parellels and the drive is to be used in Mac and Win modes, both. Just to add some more info: my other drive is FAT32 formated and all seems to go well with it.

Why does the Right-click -> "t" delete a bookmark on the bookmark toolbar, when Right-click -> "t" opens a new tab elsewhere in Firefox. The bookmark toolbar use Right-click -> "w" to open in a new tab. Please change this to "t" to... I keep deleting all my bookmark because you don't make the commands consistent!

If you have accidentally removed bookmarks then use "Organize > Undo" in the bookmarks manager (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks) to get them back.<br />
The Organize button is the first of the three buttons on the toolbar in the Library (Bookmarks Manager).<br />
That only works if you haven't closed Firefox.

  • I have created a folder in "Bookmarks Toolbar" and I want to open all sites saved into the folder into separate window, instead of opening them into tabs, how do i do that?

I want to open multiple sites in NEW firefox window, as soon as I click on the folder from "Toolbar menu". I can see a option there "Open all in tabs". Is it possible to set one more option "Open all in new windows"

THANK YOU! So easy, now I feel stupid. ;)
Sorry, Firefox 4.0 is driving me nuts in many ways, this is just one of them.

  • Menus do not appear (via menubar, bookmark toolbar or right-clicking)

I just noticed the other day that my menus are no longer appearing in Firefox. I can see the File, Edit, etc. menu bar, but clicking on the word File does nothing. Pressing Alt+F also does nothing. Right-clicking in a web page doesn't show the usual popup menu. Clicking on things in the toolbars (like bookmark folders) don't show the menus.
I tried running in safe mode, but there is no change. I tried creating a brand new profile but the behaviour is still the same. Most of the troubleshooting steps recommend to disable acceleration, but I don't think this applies - for a start they all say to go to the Tools menu and I can't do this, but opening about:config there doesn't seem to be anything relevant in gfx.*
When I launch Firefox from the Linux command line, it says this a dozen or so times:
(firefox:5116): GConf-WARNING **: Client failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon:
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
However this is nothing new - it has always worked before.
    dbus appears to be running:
    $ ps -A | grep dbus
    690 ? 00:00:00 dbus-daemon
    1173 tty1 00:00:00 dbus-launch
    1174 ? 00:00:00 dbus-daemon
What's going on? Why have my menus stopped working??

    Thanks for the response!
It's via my distribution's repositories. 64-bit. I just downloaded the version from your link above (14.0.1), which turned out to be 32-bit, and there's no change. I don't get any D-Bus errors on load (only some complaints that a 64-bit plugin was the wrong ELF class and couldn't be loaded), but I still can't make any menus appear. I also tried downloading Aurora (16.0a2) with the same result.
The system requirements should be fine as I have been running Firefox on this machine since I bought it a few years ago, and being quad core with 8GB RAM it should be well above the minimum specs needed.
I'm thinking it's a bug that has been introduced somewhere along the way. Any ideas how I can troubleshoot?

  • I am running Firefox 3.6.13 on MacOS X 10.6.6 and cannot edit bookmarks saved under folders on the bookmarks toolbar, by right clicking on them.

This problem concerns the bookmarks I have saved under folders that are visible in the Bookmarks Toolbar just under the URL window on Firefox. On my firefox browser in Windows XP I can expand one of these folders, right click on a bookmark underneath and I get the properties option which allows me to modify the Name or Location of the Bookmark. Unfortunately I cannot do the same on Firefox running on my Macbook Pro.

If it doesn't work with the Bookmarks toolbar then you can try to do it in the Library (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks).

  • Creating a new folder in bookmarks

I want to create a NEW folder in bookmarks and THEN add bookmarked pages to that folder.
I've actually searched support for a specific solution or instructions and found none. Currently, I can not find any instructions or options for creating a folder. I don't want to just bookmark the current page I am on. I want to create a folder based on topic and then, later, add bookmarks to that folder when a particular page is related to that topic.
    How?

Note that you can also create a new folder via the Organize button in the Library window.<br />
The Organize is the first of the three buttons on the toolbar in the Library (Organize, Views, Import and Backup).

  • How do I create a new folder in bookmarks?

I followed the suggestions from post a year ago, but the answer I was directed to no longer works. This used to be easy until they changed the bookmark section on Firefox. Wondering why there does not seem to be a choice simply marked "New Folder" or if there is, where is it?

To create a new folder in Bookmarks: Click on "Bookmarks". Then click on "Bookmark this page". A small pop-up screen will have fields for "name" (of the page), "folder", and "tags". To the far right of the "folder" field are two downward arrows. Click on the one farthest to the right. This will show you '''all''' the existing folders, and an option to make a "NEW FOLDER".
Before you click on this, you may want to select an existing folder to put the NEW folder into. If so, click on the folder of choice, then click on the "NEW FOLDER" option. The new folder will appear at the bottom of the menu. You can name it now, or later. When all fields have been filled to your satisfaction, click on "DONE". I'm not sure how you'd do it without starting with a page you want to save, but you'll find a way, right?

  • Can't create new folder on an external hard drive, and how to transfer files?

    Hello everyone,
the non-English speaking videographer I translate for is having problems operating his Premiere CS5 for Mac from an external hard drive. He cannot create new folder on the external hard drive (the "New Folder" button is grayed-out when tries to export media onto the external hard drive) and when he simply tries to create new folder, the "new folder" option isn't available.
He suspects it's because the hard drive was formatted for PC.
    Questions:
    - should PC-formatting cause that problem?
    - what's the proper way to transfer media files from PC-formatted external hard drive to the internal hard drive on Mac?
    Would appreciate your advice.
    Dimitri Vorontzov

He is right on the money
Now, for the sad or FAT part. You need to format the drive as FAT32 to make it work both on PC and MAC but, and that is a big BUT, the max file size of any given file will be 4GB. I haven't treid other formats yet, like the journaled MAC OS extended, but I don't think that would work. We transfer our files through or own gigabit network so I never had to try it, other than FAT32 formatted SDHC cards.

  • Creating new folder ripple effect in other folders

I was in the RoboHelp 7 Project Manager pod. The HTML Files (Topics) folder was highlighted. I right-clicked and selected New > Folder.
I named the new folder Assets and pressed Enter to create the folder. All on its own, RH created an Assets folder under the Images, Multimedia, Style Sheets, and Baggage Files folders.
Not only that, but every folder I created under the Assets folder was also duplicated under the  Images, Multimedia, Style Sheets, and Baggage Files folders. AND, if I try then to delete one of those folders, either a.) the Delete option is not available on the right-click menu or b.) When it is available and I select it, ALL instances of the folder are deleted.
Why did RH create multiple Assets folders and why can't I create a single folder under only the HTML Files (Topics) folder?

    Hi there
This is perfectly normal. You need to understand that the Project Manager is simply RoboHelp's way of organizing the different project assets. Think of it as perhaps "filters" that are only showing you files that are used. For example, when you look at the files and folders of the project in Windows Explorer, you will never see a folder named "Baggage Files" or "Style Sheets". And if you create a folder, even though you see it in Baggage Files, Images, Cascading Style Sheets and HTML Topics, it's only on your hard drive once.
    Hopefully this helps... Rick
