Option to make notes in iCal
Why isn't there an option to make notes in iCal without them being reminders or events-???
Why can't iCal be combined with notes or stickies-????

Why not? I can go into Stickies or TextEdit and click a block of text and add notes to it.
I'm actually just trying out iCal today, because I've been so extremely used to a single paper-based assignment pad and one TextEdit document for all of my respective short and long-range To-Do items, and it's worked well. The option of having pretty colors finally drew me into iCal.
Alright, but seriously, what version of iCal is Apple working on? Version 4? Let's talk design for a second. For you folks with Snow Leopard previews, add a 6-hour event in Day view, and title it. Can you double-click on the event to add a note like this: "Inquire about who will be running the Live Labs in the Fall, and ask if Joe Schmoe could co-coordinate them. Also consider running maintenance ops" as a note? Because if you could, and just open iCal to see the note, then no extra clicking has to be done.
What have I been doing before iCal? I have my assignment pad out, paper based, or I have my "ToDo.rtf" file, hit "Spacebar," and I can literally read off all my To Do items (using Quicklook, what could be faster????), here's just an example of how I organize my stuff:

Anyways that's just an example of what I see when I hit Spacebar. I'd sure love to convert all that to iCal, but c'mon, this is how I would think most people really use (or ought to use) date planners. I think that effective date planners should have at least the option to view notes aptly in this manner. Personally, I'm regularly updating my notes, and I mean, like almost every couple of days, because I go "Meh... I think that we can move this a day over" or "Actually let's go with the 250 GB version" or "And while I'm out getting brake pads, maybe I should also do this..." etc. etc. And, while I'm at it, why not [1] or [2] notes per event? That's effective right there, and it's really fast doing it in TextEdit or Stickies.
So, there's really no way to just edit notes like that in iCal? Has there ever been????
If not, then Apple seriously ought to consider doing so for iCal 4. (Or 3.1, or whatever comes out when they get another Leopard update out.)

Unable to make changes in iCal
I've lost the ability to make changes in iCal. Any change I make is lost when I quit and restart Ical. For example: Added event disappears, deleted task or calender reappears, unpublished calender is again marked as published. All looks fine while iCal is running and is undone when iCal is restarted.
I can make changes in e.g. Mail, I removed tasks from Mail and they stayed removed.
Events added in my iPhone gets added in iCal.
/SJI can't seem to find any help for this issue either. I don't have a .mac account btw. but here is what happened to me.
I've been trying to switch over from entourage so I organized my recurring events in ical, including a few calendars, a few subscription calendars and the "show birthday calendars" option. Everything was fine for a week. Then i opened ical and all my tasks and some of my events (but not all) were missing. At this point ical began to NOT save anything i entered. I would enter a test task or event and upon reopening the application the changes were not there.
I searched the internet for help. I found no advice except deleting everything and starting over. This i did last week. I even deleted my plists, library etc... Now when i relaunched, I had empty Home and Work calendars and a "Entourage calendar", which i tried to delete multiple times (syncing was turned off), but I can't seem to permanently remove. It will go away if i delete it, but if i clean up the plists and library again it comes back. maybe this is the way it's suppose to work?? In any case, i finally just unchecked it. This time things seemed to work fine for a day. So i finally turned back on the "birthdays calendar", but i was still leery of subscribing to any other calendars. Things were fine again.
Last night I entered my tasks again. No importing, just directly entering the info into ical. This morning I open i cal and i'm back to where i started. No tasks, missing events, and i can't seem to get any new events or tasks to save. I'm so frustrated! I hope someone can help. Thanks! -
Select-option value is not getting captured in at selection-screen on value
In Selection screen , we have Select-option and a parameter.
Based on the values given in Select-option, the values of Parameter should get populate.
To achieve this functionality,
I used At selection u2013screen on value request for <parameter> EVENT and 'F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST' Function Module.
But the Select-option values are not getting captured in this event,unless u press Enter key.
Is there any other way to achieve this functionality.
Please Guide me.When you call function 'F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST'. make sure you send it the name of the screen variable - the F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST function calls DYNP_VALUES_READ itself if you tell it the name of your report, screen number, and the variable name... snippet below.

How to make tasks in iCal repeat?
This might be a stupid question, but I'm trying to make tasks in iCal repeat on a regular basis. For instance, instead of having to set a task to repeat every Monday at 10am, I just want to set a task for Monday at 10am and then have it repeat every Monday at 10am. Am I missing this setting somewhere?

Hi, thanks for your response. I don't have a repeat occurrence pop-up menu when inserting new tasks, which makes it all the more confusing - I have that menu when inserting new calendar events, but not tasks. Thoughts? -
Is there a way to shut off sharing your notes in iCal events?
Hey there, long time lurker, first time poster, haha.
I have dates/events on iCal a specific shared calendar I'm using, and it's my understanding that previously iCloud didn't share the notes you had made for that event - only date, time, location, etc. I liked that the notes were private, I had some info I didn't want to share with the other members of that calendar group attached to those events in my iCal. I don't see any options for customing what is shared and what's not on iCal. Any insight in to that would be helpful, thanks!I don't believe you have any control over what is shared, only whether to share it publicly or privately, and who to invite. (At least I've never seen any documentation indicating that do.)

How do I view what slide I'm on out of how many I have total in keynote? I know on powerpoint it's at the bottom right of the window but I can't find it on keynote, nor can I find the option to make it appear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Your steps so far are OK but you may want to try:
1 Trash your user library Caches folder (House Icon with short name in Finder window (hard drive window)GOTO:House icon > Library folder > caches folder
2 Trash the com.apple.Safari.plist file in User library > preferences folder > Safari.plist as well as removing the library Safari folder its self.
3 you can selectivly re-install Safari 2.0 from your OS Tiger Install disk 1, (see Knowledge base article 301229 for how to just select the Safari Application) without doing a complete system Archive and Install.
4. Create a new Test user account on the system and test how Safari responds in the Test user, see if its a user related issue and not system issue.
5. Still no Safari response? have to do an Archive and install (not preserving user and network settings)article 107120
PS. Issue may be related to actual internet connection connectivity, power cycle cable modem and router or airport if using one as well as the computer(keep unplugged for 3-5 min) and plug the cable modem in and then the router/airport then power on the computer. Do the Airport Admin utiliy (applications, utilities on HD_1)update.

I am using Arch for about 3 weeks now. I initially got some problems for setting up my xorg.conf with correct resolution but i solved it.

I deleted my music through the "manage storage" section in the options to make room for the ios update awhile back. Now I can't get any music back onto my device through itunes. (I've tried restoring the device twice to no avail)
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I have a custom camera that saves some information in the exif maker notes (calibration data). The output is in normal JPEG.
I can see the custom data on all original file. But whenever a file goes through Adobe Lightroom 5 or Photoshop CS6, the maker note seems to be lost. I made sure to have the 'Include all metadata' option on.

iTunes randomly stops playing purchases that have previously viewed on the same hardware. It has an error message about HD. How can this issue be resolved? What information is available besides the "learn more" option that does not deal with the problem?

I also tried with and without your crossdomain.xml file but
with the same result. It looks like this file is intended for URL
policy, instead of socket policy. Recently Adobe separated the two.
When I run with the files installed on my dev PC, it does
work, which makes sense because the flash player isn't loaded from
an unknown domain.
I did get one step closer. If a crossdomain.xml in the server
root exists and the socketpolicy file is loaded from the app folder
then the first two warnings disappear. The logs now show:

UPDATE: When serving up the policy file on port 843 using the

Some PDFs won't allow me to highlight or make notes...
When I try to make highlights or notes on articles from academic journals, some of them will easily allow me to highlight or make notes. Others won't let me do this at all. I am wondering if it's because some PDFs are converted from Word files while others are scanned in and are in essence a picture. It's not that it's some journals but not others, for example Research in the Teaching of English has some articles that allow me to highlight and annotate, while other articles from that same journal only give me the option to "copy."
Is there any app, add-on, or program that will allow me to highlight and take notes on the stubborn journal articles? Any other advice on how to solve this?Highlighting will only work on text documents, not scanned images. From another recent post by ~graffiti:
What I've recommended to people in the past is to use the drawing markup tools to draw boxes around the text they want highlighted then play around with the fill color of the box until they get something close to what they want.

I have instaled the evaluation version of Acrobat XI pro, to test if I can have this functionality before buying the licence,
...but I didn't get the PDFMaker options in Lotus.

- restart Notes,

I hoped LR4 would export the maker notes section from my DNG or PEF raw's to the jpeg.
This section contains so much interesting information and I'd really like to see it in the jpeg too.
