Options for cracked IPad screen?

My IPad slipped off my elliptical tonight and now the screen is cracked, I just purchased it in late September but alas, I didn't purchase the extended care as I never dropped my first one. What are my options?
Thanks!

  • Protecting cracked ipad screen from further damage with protector

Howdy.... I have an ipad 2. The screen recently developed a spider web-type crack. I honestly have no idea how it happened. I did not drop it. I've been on a number of plane trips recently and noticed it after checking into a hotel. It was in my cabin luggage. Possibly someone dumped something on it in the overhead bin, or it got tossed around??
Anyway, it does still seem to function completely fine. Towards the edge of the screen on one side there is about 1 mm of depression/displacement of the sides of the fracture. Otherwise the cracks are non-displaced. I have no problem using it.
I am in a country with no apple stores. I could submit to an authorized repair place and wait for it to be repaired. However, I am anticipating ipad 3 coming out soon and I am wondering about the option of simply not fixing the screen at all.
I bought an ipad screen protector and put it on the screen under the theory that this might inhibit cracks from propagating further. Anyone have any insight or ideas about this? What happens when you use a cracked ipad screen over time? Does it inevitably get worse?
I am wondering if I can just use it as-is with the screen protector until ipad 3 comes out. The cracks are actually hard to notice during actual use, with the screen on.

The glass is laminated structure, the top layer is oleophobic plastic very thin, then there is the sensor and finally the glass. Same for ipad and iphone. See below.
If it works, keep going. Since you plan to buy a new one anyway. A case of 'its broken, but no need to fix it' !

  • Replace cracked iPad screen?

Can you get a cracked iPad screen replaced or is it just time to buy a new one?

The standard 1-year Apple Care warranty only covers defects in materials and workmanship, not damage due to accidents.

  • Options for Wireless iPad Projection???

I am trying to determine the best way to project content on my iPad in my classroom.  I am looking to purchase new equipment if necessary or adapt what I already have in my classroom (VGA / 3RCA projecor).
If anyone has ANY suggestions or recommendations I would greatly appreicate you advice.
    Thank you!
Has anyone tried wireless projectors?  If so, what has or hasn't worked?

At this point, the Apple TV is the only option - and it won't work with a standard VGA projector. You can use the iPad to control the computer and show the computer's image on the screen - which is fine for standard content (computers, images, Office files) but not for uniquely iPad content.

  • Cracked ipad screen, warranty job?

My ipad 4 is 6 months old, can I get the cracked screen fix by apple under warranty?

EE is in essence financing your iPad purchase. They paid Apple much more than the replacement price, and you'll end up paying EE more overall for the iPad then you would have done if you'd bought the iPad yourself, though EE hides that cost in their contract cost.
    Regards.

  • Is there a pre-payment option for the iPad 4G LTE?

    Hello Everyone,
I was told that the iPad has a pre-payment option. However, when I talked to a few operators (I got dropped twice, thanks to ATT), but all of them had mentioned a pre-payment option. The reason why this interests me is because I am a very frugal person so I like the idea that I don't have to use all my data allowance all in that one month. What I had been told was that I can actually purchase 3gigs of data, pay for it, and not have to worry about that sneaky recurring, monthly payments. In addition, I was told that there is no expiration date for that 3gigs, and that if it takes me three months to go through the 3 gigs, then I am allowed that time. Versus the regular monthly plan that has no rollover. If you don't use the 3 gigs by the month's time, you lose it. I would so prefer to have the pre-payment option therefore, since I can use up every last kilobyte, instead of conserving only to have the next month arrive and lose whatever I had.
    I hope this is clear.
    Thank you for reading everyone!

  • The Pages Full Screen option is the iPad screen!

I haven't heard anyone mention this, but I think Apple did something very smart with the last iteration of Pages as a set up to Pages for iPad.
For those of us who dream of having a writing station as small and light as the iPad, the real question is: Can this really work as an alternative to a laptop? Well, here are three ways Apple has already groomed us for this transition:
    1. They added a keyboard dock, which of course makes real, lengthy writing sessions possible.
    2. They put a version of Pages on the iPad.
    3. Third, the Pages Full Screen mode on your current computer (if a laptop) looks an awful lot like the iPad screen. When I take my MacBook into Full Screen, the dimensions of the writing screen are almost identical to what I would have on an iPad. In other words, I am already typing on that narrow screen!
What do you think? [Sure, this isn't really a problem-solving question, but this is a discussion forum, no?]

The question is whether the iPad screen is built to US Quarto (used by 5% of the planet) or to the International standard A4.
The proportions seem to suggest that the design is USA only.

  • Different options for shared computers (screen sharing)

    http://photocat.smugmug.com/photos/221486937-L.png
Why do I get two different login options on my network? For one computer I can check on screen sharing, but I don't get that option for the third computer.
Am I missing a point here?
What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated
I have leo on my laptop and can screen share with the swivel on tiger, but not with the iMac G5 on tiger...

    Hi Catherine.
The question is. Are both computers running Leopard? Screen sharing only works between Leopard computers. It doesn't work between Leopard and Tiger unless you install a third party VNC program like Chicken of the VNC or similar.
I have three computers at home. Two with Leopard and one with Tiger. I can share my screen between the Leopard ones but not with the Tiger one.
    Does this answer your question?

  • Slightly Cracked iPad Screen

I have a first generation iPad and there's a small crack on the screen near one of the sides. It's mainly noticeable just when you turn the iPad, but less seen when in the normal position. The sides of the iPad are also dented a little bit, but they, nor the small crack in the screen, effect the functionality of the device (from what I can tell, it works fine).
Anyway, how much do you think Apple would charge to get a replacement? (Since they don't actually repair their products, correct?) I've read that if you go to the store and manage to have some luck, they might give you a brand new device right on the spot. That hasn't been the case for some people though and they probably no longer have any iPad 1's in stock because of the iPad 2 release, right?

    Hello:
No one here can answer your question.  These are user-to-user forums.  Why not go to the Apple store and see what, if anything, they might do?

  • Cracked ipad screen?

i have cracked my screem on my ipad and was wondering if i could send it to apple to get repaired for free. i have apple care and it is still in warranty.

I recently took my wife's iPhone to the Apple store with a cracked screen. They told me they don't do repairs for this kind of damage/fault & could replace for (if I recall correctly) £130. Although this was out of warranty & she had cancelled Apple care a while back. Does Apple care cover screen damage? Best thing to do is contact Apple to see what they can do
