Options for Safari Paretal Settings?

Hi All!
I just got a new iPod Touch and my dad decided it would be fun to come into my room in the middle of the night and set up these ridiculous settings on my iPod. He wants to know if there is anyway he can block explicit content on Safari without interfering with the rest of my iPod. Pretty much he wants to be able to block the "naughty" places and such.
Any suggestions so I can have my life back?
Thanks so much.
Tadpole

Sorry but it is all or nothing.
You can block the use of Safari totally or allow full access, there is no ability to block out specific sites or content.
Maybe what you need to do is earn some trust!

  • Is there a way you can select a display option for Safari pages on the OS5?

The tabbed version of Safari for the ipad2 is nice but the old one is better. Is there a way we can select a display option that lets a user toggle between the two?

No, Safari on the iPad in iOS 5 uses tabbed browsing. You can try leaving feedback for Apple : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • OSX Lion I do not have full screen option for Safari for any user accounts

In my iMac I have three user accounts plus the guest account. For all accounts exept the guest account Safari do not show the full screen icon or give the option from the menu. Does some one have the same problem and does someone know how to get this feature. PS! I have upgraded to LION!

It's pretty simple to create your own Full Screen keyboard shortcut. Here is what I did and it works perfectly:
    1. System Preferences
    2. Keyboard
    3. Keyboard Shortcuts tab
    4. Application Shortcuts
    5. Click + symbol at bottom or right box and select All Applications
    6. Set Menu Title for Enter Full Screen &  Set Keyboard Shortcut for Control + Command + F click Add
    7. Repeat Step 5
    8. Set Menu Title for Exit Full Screen &  Set Keyboard Shortcut for Control + Command + F click Add
    9. Exit System Preferences and use the new keyboard shortcuts on all apps that have Full Screen capabilities.

  • SORT option for Safari

Newbie on a Mac. If it is common knowledge that safari will not sort bookmarks as all other browsers can. Why has there not been an update to such a basic need? I have read several post from different sites providing multiple answers and yet the most productive one seems to be make this option (basic function) available to a community that has been loyal to a product (Mac) that many thought would never reach it's current global position.
Just a question from a new Mac user (2008) that had been a PC user since the early 90's.

This is a user-to-user forum; no one here can answer this question. It's really more of a rhetorical question (or complaint) anyway, isn't it?
The only people who could answer your question as to why this feature hasn't been added to Safari would be Safari's developers, and they had nondisclosure agreements that prevent them from discussing this kind of subject.
If what you really want to do is ask for this feature, your best bet is Apple's Mac OS X feedback form.

  • I don't understand how to disable some of the options for Safari 4...

It seems that like a lot of other people here, I'm not that fond about some of the features introduced in the new Safari version; namely, the addition of the Top Sites portion, the removal of the blue loading bar, the relocation of the Refresh button, and other bits. While searching for a way to remedy these problems, I found another user here who had put a link to the following website:
    http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20090225234804752
Apparently, all I have to do is enter certain commands into the Terminal. But, the description is agonizingly vague, and when I try to just copy-paste and hit Enter, Safari remains completely unchanged. I got a Mac for the ease of use, since I'm pretty bad at figuring out the programming and coding stuff... which is why I'm having trouble here. Is there an easy to follow, step-by-step solution here?
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

    Hi
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Those terminal commands no longer work in Safari 4. Coding has changed from Safari 4 Beta.
In Safari 4 Beta, the easiest way to change the look of Safari was via a 3rd party item called Tweaks. I understand the developer intends to release an upgrade to Tweaks in the near future. There's really no telling yet what is changeable. However, the developer will be one of the first to know. Stay tuned....

  • Mobile data- not displaying option for email in settings - how do I get it to work?

    Hi
In my settings I don't have the option under mobile data to add email, the only options are FaceTime and passbook-  so I'm unable
To use 3G to access mail- does anyone know how I can fix this? Many thanks

You add your email accounts under Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

  • "Add BCC" as an option for Email Account Settings

One very much appreciated option on the BB OS devices was the ability to set a fixed BCC email address for individual email accounts. I know that I can add it to individual messages but it is cumbersome to do this for every email. Could BB please re-introduce this feature to BB 10?

  • Add Move to Memory option for Applications in Settings for Dell Venue 7 OS

The "Move to Memory Card" option was not enabled by Dell. It should be. <Forum violation = soliciting>. Dell, please add this feature. It is useless to have a memory card if you can't store apps on it. That's the main purpose of it. The camera is so slow it really isn't going to be useful to store photos on memory card, not even sure this option is enabled LOL. Anyways. Need to be able to store Apps and increase system memory to speed up operation. As it is anything over 5GB in total apps will bog down the Venue 7 making it basically useless. I feel like it's like using dial-up all over again. I should have got the iPad Air.

I'm running a 32gb card for music and movies.  Have no problems.  Load the card via computer attached with usb cable.

  • Command line options for Safari

I have a script that opens a Safari window by doing essentially the following:
    open -a safari http://www.apple.com
According to the man page for open, I can add more args to this that would get picked up by Safari, as follows. Of course the man page for open can't indicate what such args might be or even if Safari pays any attention to them:
    open -a safari http://www.apple.com --args arg1 arg2 ...
Are there any such args one can usefully pass to Safari in this way? Specifically, I'd like the command to be able to control the size of the window that is opened, perhaps as follows:
    open -a safari http://www.apple.com --args h=300 w=400
    Thanks.

While I'm no Terminal expert, I believe you might be interested in using osascript. You can check its man page by entering *man osascript* at the Terminal prompt. Also, a Google search for osascript should yield some good returns.
In short, entering *osascript -e* at the Terminal prompt, followed by a valid AppleScript command executes the script action. More than one argument can be used at a time by adding another -e, followed by a new AppleScript command.
The example below causes Safari to open apple.com, with the window resized to your specifications. Copy the entire piece of code, paste it at the Terminal prompt, and press Return:
*osascript -e 'tell application "Safari" to open location "http://www.apple.com"' -e 'tell application "Safari" to set bounds of front window to {10, 60, 400, 300}'*
    Good luck, hope this helps.

  • Is there different viewing options for Safari?

I'm new to iPhone.  My other smartphone let me view Safari just like the screen looks on my computer.  Is there a way for the 4S to allow pictures and stuff like my computer?

Huh? Safari on the iPhone allows "pictues and stuff". Unless you're on a mobile site (which generally would still include pictures), Safari on the iPhone looks pretty much like Safari on the computer.

  • Need a way to get downloads option from safari on dock.

I accidentally deleted my downloads option for safari on my dock. It is also no longer in my finder. Is there a way for me to get it back?

Open a Finder window and see if Downloads is in the sidebar. If it is not, go to Finder Preferences and click Sidebar at the top of Preferences window to show it in the sidebar. Once you see it in the sidebar, right-click the Downloads (control - click or 2 finger tap on touchpad) and choose "Add to Dock."

  • " plug-in name does not support the highest level of security for Safari plug-ins" appear for some plugins in Safari Security "Manage Website Settings"?

    Hi,
Wondering why "<plug-in name> does not support the highest level of security for Safari plug-ins" appear for some plugins in Safari > Security > "Manage Website Settings"?
Have been trying to get to the root cause of the problem but did not find much on this. I am trying to figure out what can get the warning to go away completely than using the Allow/Always Allow options for the plug-in
    Thanks,
    Shyam

    Hi Linc,
Thank you for your response. Here is the screenshot of the warning that I am talking about.
    Here is what I do:
    1. Launch Safari and open its Preferences. I have Safari 7.1 installed on my machine.
    2. Click Security Tab and click Manage WebSite Settings
    3. A window opens showing me all the Plug-ins that I have (listed on the left hand side).
    4. One of them is the Adobe Reader plug-in. When I click Adobe Reader, the following details about the plug-in show up on the right
I was referring to the highlighted section that warns me about this plug-in not using the highest level of security for Safari Plug-ins.
Note: I do not see this for all my plug-ins (QuickTime, Adobe Flash Player don't give me this warning) which tells me that there is a way to make the warning go away.
    Thanks again,
    Shyam

  • In Firefox Sync, Firefox Home - what does the option "Use Safari" in the app settings actually do?

In the global settings page on the iPad, (this is where users can configure settings for each app.) there is an option for Firefox Home to "Use Safari". What does this setting actually do, or not do?

Thanks, Verdi - the first time I enabled,/ or disabled, I hadn't realised what had actually changed, as I think I'm so used to seeing my links open in Safari anyway!

  • HTML5 MP4 Codec Settings for Safari 5.1.5

    Hello all,
I am having a problem with HTML4 MP4 h.264 videos in Safari 5.1.5 only running under Lion. Does anyone have any exactly specifications for compressing videos that will play in this version of Safari? Also, if you have sucessfully exported videos for 5.1.5 what software are you using to encode? I have tried several options (After Effects, QT7 etc) and not had any luck. Thank you!

Getting mp3 music out of your 4 satelite speakers and center channel requires either enabling the X-Fi CMSS 3D Sorround setting in your Audio Console or, alternately, if using your X-Fi card with an external Decoder, you could (if available on your decoder) enable Dolby PLII Music enhancement or X2 Stereo enhancement. I personally prefer the results from enabling CMSS 3D Surround and then adjusting my center channel for an even sound stage. Crystalizer Mode: In general, 24-bit Crystalizer produces crisper high frequencies, punchier mid-range percussion and note onsets, and stronger kick bass hits. I'm not sure that I would use the Crystalizer Mode as a substitute for good EQ settings but perhaps in conjuction would be the best approach. Depending on the 5. speaker system you have, Base Redirect shouldn't have to be used unless your satelite speakers and center channel are playing Bass frequencies that really should be assigned to the Sub-woofer. Some speaker sets and amplifiers have bass redirection feature i.e. you do not need discrete 5. signal to hear the sound on the subwoofer. Such sets always output bass - even if you connect a normal stereo source. Again, however, it is possible that if you have an analogue speaker set that does not support automatic Bass Redirection via the amplifier, then you would have to enable Bass Redirect at the sound card level in order to redirect the lowest frequencies to the subwoofer. I do not have to conduct a Bass Redirection, however, not all systems are equal in terms of functionality. The best settings for a 5. system are really contigent on the room size, speaker type and placement, room wall materials, amplifier type, content played (movies, music, spoken word., etc.) and, listeners personal preference. Personaly I would run the supplied Speaker Calibration utility and when you have the sound you personally enjoy, stick with it. Best advise I can offer to be perfectly honest. Hope this helped.
