ORA-00069 cannot acquire lock

Hi, I am getting the Oracle Database error "ORA-00069 cannot acquire lock -- table locks disabled for string" in a stored proc. According to [some sites|http://oratip.com/] I looked at, it says the Cause is "A command was issued that tried to lock the table indicated in the message. Examples of commands that can lock tables are: LOCK TABLE, ALTER TABLE ... ADD (...), and so on.". And the Action they suggest is "Use the ALTER TABLE ... ENABLE TABLE LOCK command, and retry the command".
I am not doing either a lock table or alter table command in my procedure, so what else could be causing this?
Thank you for any help. Sorry if this is an easy one, but I am new to Oracle.

You should not create database files outside of the ASM.
I'm not sure you can move the datafile, I would export the data from the tablespace (if there is data you need there), delete the tablespace and recreate it in the ASM, then import the data back.
If you want to move the datafile, you can try using RMAN (from node1).
First connect to the database with sqlplus and execute:
alter tablespace <tbs_name> offline; Then start RMAN: rman target /
BACKUP AS COPY DATAFILE '<file>' FORMAT '+<ASM_DG>';Then in sqlplus, execute:
alter tablespace <tbs_name> online;I'm not sure it will work, and I hope I got the commands right because I can't check it right now.
    Good luck

Then I created a disk group:
    CREATE DISKGROUP STORE EXTERNAL REDUNDANCY DISK '/dev/asm210';
Then I created a new tablespace:

I did all this operations from NODE1.
What is happening now is that everytime I try to read something from new diskgroup FROM NODE2 I get the ORA-01157:

No problem to read from NODE1.
The simple query on dba_data_file work from NODE1 and fails from NODE2 with the ORA-01157.
I found this on the alert log:

    Thanks in advance!
    Samuel

I didn't understand what do you mean with thread...
But I think you found the problem
Initialization files of both ASM instance are: SPFILE='/dev/spfileASM'
that SPFILE is (common for both):
    +ASM2.__oracle_base='/u01/app/oracle'#ORACLE_BASE set from environment
    +ASM2.asm_diskgroups='ONLINELOG','ARCHIVELOG','DATA'
    +ASM1.asm_diskgroups='ONLINELOG','ARCHIVELOG','DATA','STORE'#Manual Mount
    *.asm_diskstring='/dev/asm*'
    *.cluster_database=true
    *.diagnostic_dest='/u01/app/oracle'
    +ASM1.instance_number=1
    +ASM2.instance_number=2
    *.instance_type='asm'
    *.large_pool_size=12M
    +ASM1.local_listener='LISTENER_ASM'
    +AC
    Then I executed another query:
    From ASM1
    SQL> select instance_name from v$instance;
    INSTANCE_NAME
    +ASM1
    SQL> select name, state from v$asm_diskgroup;
    NAME STATE
    ARCHIVELOG MOUNTED
    DATA MOUNTED
    ONLINELOG MOUNTED
    STORE MOUNTED
    SQL>
    From ASM2
    SQL> select instance_name from v$instance;
    INSTANCE_NAME
    +ASM2
    SQL> select name, state from v$asm_diskgroup;
    NAME STATE
    ARCHIVELOG MOUNTED
    DATA MOUNTED
    ONLINELOG MOUNTED
    STORE DISMOUNTED
    SQL>
    Than the question is:
how can I mount the disk group STORE also on ASM2?
I think the problems is into the spfile lines:
    +ASM2.asm_diskgroups='ONLINELOG','ARCHIVELOG','DATA'
    +ASM1.asm_diskgroups='ONLINELOG','ARCHIVELOG','DATA','STORE'
How can I change the +ASM2.asm_diskgroups value?
    Thanks

    Hi experts
our Real time Individual match job is erroring out with above error code. Real time Individual clean and Real time Individual Cluster are working fine. What could be the reason for this?

Hi Nick. thanks for your reply.
I am newbie to the OEDQ. When you say that proces is open in Director, what does it mean? How can i close it?
In order to overcome this situation i did
    1. stop datanomic service on Win2003 server
    2. started Job Main Initialize reference Data in EDQ-CDS - initialize Reference Data project and waited to finish
    3. started Job Real- time START ALL in EDQ-CDS project
    4. this is the step where some of the jobs are errorong out, as stated before
From above to mee it looks like there should not be any process open in Director.
can you please share your thoughts
    thanks

  • ASM diskgroups unmounting, getting ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock data fil

    All,
We've recently purchased a RAMSAN device for better throughput. I created the initial diskgroup with the following syntax:
    CREATE DISKGROUP EMTPRD0X_SSD01 NORMAL REDUNDANCY
    FAILGROUP RS1 DISK '/dev/rdsk_ramsan_primary' NAME ssd_prim
    FAILGROUP RS2 DISK '/dev/rdsk_ramsan_backup' NAME ssd_bkup;

After talking with Oracle support I was told that the only workaround for diskgroups unmounting themselves is to put a control file/redo log/dummy tablespace inside of that diskgroup and continually write/read from it.
    Does that make sense?
They pointed me to note 603204.1 - Why FRA Diskgroup Gets Mounted/Dismounted.
The system is a 3 node Oracle 10.2.0.4 rac running on ASM Solaris x86 64bit.
    Any ideas?

What does the alert_log tell you??
The Google answer on this is:
ORA-01157:cannot identify/lock data file string - see DBWR trace file
Cause:     The background process was either unable to find one of the data files or failed to lock it because the file was already in use. Accompanying error from the operating system describes why the file could not be identified.
Action:     Have operating system make file available to database. Then either open the database or do ALTER SYSTEM CHECK DATAFILES.
Edit: It is recommended to post database version and OS version also, including more information.

  • ORA-27086: unable to lock file over NFS -- but it's NOT Netapp!

My 10.2 database crashed, and when it came back I got the following error:
    ORA-00202: control file: '/local/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/dbs/lkFOOBAR'
ORA-27086: unable to lock file - already in use
Linux-x86_64 Error: 11: Resource temporarily unavailable
This is a classic symptom of a Netapp problem, which likes to hold file locks open on NFS mounts. There is a standard procedure for clearing those locks; see, for instance, document 429912.1 on Metalink.
Unfortunately, my files are mounted on an Isilon, one of Netapp's twisted cousins. I can find no references to "isilon" on Metalink, and we are at a loss how to resolve this.
My sysadmin assures me that "there are no locks on the Isilon". But I know this cannot be the case, because if I do the following:
    1. delete the lockfile /local/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/dbs/lkFOOBAR, and then
    2. move my controlfiles aside, and then copy them back into place,
then the database will mount. However, it will not open, because now all the datafiles have locks.
Is there anyone with experience in clearing NFS locks? I know this is more of a SA task than DBA, but I am sure my SA has overlooked something.
    Thanks

    New information:
As stated above, I moved the controlfiles aside and then copied them back into place, like this:
    mv control01.ctl control01-bak.ctl
cp control01-bak.ctl control01.ctlDid that for each controlfile, and then the database mounted.
But, after rebooting the machine, we discovered that all locks were back in place-- it looks like the system is locking the files on boot-up, and not letting them go. The lock is held by PID 1, which is init.
sculkget: lock held by PID: 1This is definitely looking like a major system issue, and not a DBA issue, and hence I have little right to expect assistance in this forum. But nonetheless I lay my situation out here before you all in case someone else recognizes my problem before the server bursts into flames!
The system is CentOS 4.5-- not my choice, but that's the way it is.

  • ORA-01124: cannot recover data file 1 - file is in use or recovery

I am trying to recover standby database, but it is giving the below error.
ORA-00283: recovery session canceled due to errors
ORA-01124: cannot recover data file 1 - file is in use or recovery, recovery is already stated
    ORA-01110: data file 1: 'I:\ORACLE\QAS\SAPDATA1\SYSTEM_1\SYSTEM.DATA1'
when i checked in the alert log the recovery is not started. and later i hae given "alter database recover cancel' and the command end up with the below line
    "media recovery not started".
it seems that the recovery has stuck in between.
please advise me how to kill the recovery session that's stuck. because i dont want to bounce the standby database.
    thanks in advance.

Without dataguard and MRP, you are running a scripted standby.
In a scripted standby, a RECOVER DATABASE session would have an UNTIL clause (most likely UNTIL SEQUENCE). At the end of the recovery to that point (SEQUENCE#), it exits and shuts down the database.
Also, the scripting is such that when one RECOVER session is active, another session is not allowed to start. It may loop in wait state or exit and retry at the next scheduled interval.
Apparently your standby scripting is not robust enough to prevent another RECOVER session from starting off even as the first is active (and/or it doesn't have a proper UNTIL clause and stop, exit, shutdown actions)
What you have is a custom implementation of a standby database. Without complete details of the script, the "locking" between sessions (to prevent a second RECOVER from starting when one is already running) etc .... we really cannot do much to help you.
Your scripts should be maintaing status information . It should be possible for you to discover the "other" sqlplus session that has issued a RECOVER DATABASE but not yet exited (e.g. ... how about a simple "ps -ef |grep sql" and "ps -ef | grep ora" combination ??)

    Experts,
I am getting "java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-02014: cannot select FOR UPDATE from view with DISTINCT, GROUP BY, etc" exception and it leads to one or more setter methods of the VO. I checked the respective attribute in the VO to see if it refers to any LOV with sql having Distinct or group by clause, but it is a normal attribute.
Any idea how do i resolve this error ?

  • " ORA-01445: cannot select ROWID from, or sample, a join view without a key

    GREETINGS !
    CREATED TABULAR FORM WITH QUERY
WHILE EXECUTE ON SQL COMMANDS ITS EXECUTES AND SHOWS RECORDS, PASTE SAME QUERY ON TABULAR FORM SOURCE . WHEN RUN PAGE IT GIVES ERROR
" ORA-01445: cannot select ROWID from, or sample, a join view without a key-preserved table".
Edited by: Omzz on Oct 3, 2012 10:34 PM

When setting the tabular form, only use the table that you are trying to update/modify.
After that is working, modify the SQL source with the other tables.
By just pasting an SQL query into the region source, it doesnt know what tables you are trying to update
PS - Please turn off "Caps Lock" :-)

  • ORA-01445 : cannot select rowid from a join view without a key preserved ta

    Hi,
I am using Designer6i for generatin forms:
my blokc is based on a view...
when executing the module, I have the following error when trying to change a value of an item :
FRM 40501: unabe to reserve record for update or delete ,
    the display error say :
ORA-01445 : cannot select rowid from a join view without a key preserved table!!!!!
    Any help please ???

you either create an INSTEAD OF trigger for that view or use on-lock trigger on that block to edit, e.g., SELECT ...INTO...FROM...WHERE...FOR UPDATE NOWAIT.

  • ORA-00210: cannot open the specified controlfile

    Hi,
We are trying to run a package remotly and while executing the package . we are getting ORA-00210: cannot open the specified controlfile. I did crosscheck the controlfile through v$controlfile parameter and the ctlfile shows there. I did also go thorugh with metalink, it says you need to chech weather some process has locked it, or the max number of open file limit of OS. I would appriciate, if you can describe both of the above options.
