ORA-00314, ORA-00312 during restore
Hi.
I have (I should say I had) a database in archivelog mode.
Arch logs multiplexed on c:, e:.
Online redo logs multiplexed on c:, e:.
Controlfile multiplexed on c:, e:.
I also had a copy of spfile on e:
I also made a backup on e:
configure default device type to disk;
configure retention policy to redundancy 1;
configure channel device type disk format 'e:\backup\ora_040506_%t_s%s_s%p';
configure controlfile autobackup on;
configure controlfile autobackup format for device type disk to 'e:\backup\sp%F';
configure backup optimization on;
backup database format 'e:\backup\ora_040506_%t_s%s_s%p';
Then I had a problem on c: (lost local datafiles, controlfiles), and wanted to restore.
So I stopped db, copied controlfile, spfile, archive logs and redo logs from e: to c:
I ran:
rman nocatalog target / @restoredb.sql
and restoredb holds:
restore database;
recover database;
exit;
In alert log I can read:

What happens?
I can't recover a database in archivelog!Iam going to be more complete:
XE on windows
I have a laptop.
Install XE, as default.
HDD on c:, sd card on e:
I have
* put db in archivelog,
* created online redo log groups #3,4,5, with members on c: and e:
* dropped default online redo log groups 1 and 2
* set up 2 controlfile multiplexing on c:, e:
* set up 2 archive log dest (one on c: and one on e:)
* copied spfile to e:
* set up a backup to e: every 2 weeks.
The laptop has worked one year then laptop crashed (hdd down), but I still have My sd card to restore datas.
=> To restore I installed a new laptop, the default XE install, stopped db, overwrite from e: -> c: :
* the controlfile
* the spfile
* archivelog and redolog
then startup mount.
select * from v$logfile;
=> Show only groups 1 and 2 (and 1 is stale)
select * from v$log;
=> sequences are 78,79 ( and 79 is current)
The archive logs I have go from 77->106.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1st issue (or bug?): redo log groups 3,4,5 are declared in control file but not taken into account when restoring controlfile!
I stopped new db, copied controlfile from e: (with redo logs 3,4,5 declared) to the one on c:, then restarted db.
Can someone tell me if I can do this without "guessing" which were the redo log member names and typing ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE GROUP..., then repeat (alter system switch logfile; alter database drop logfile; and drop groups 1 and 2) (and repeating this several times while group 1 or 2 still exists).
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
=>rman target /
restore database;=>OK no error but v$logfile still shows only groups 1 and 2 (and 1 is stale)
recover database;=>error on screen:

If I look at dates; arch log 77 & 78 dates are newer than 79 and next ones. Probably they have been crashed due to question above (redo log groups)?

Facing issues in standby database
standby database is in sync but when we say archive log list "Current log sequence " and "Oldest online log sequence" are not geting updated
even though archives are getting applied.
Solution :- We can create new standby controlfile in order to get those archive sync .
Question :- why we are still receiving alert log errors when the standby database is running in Max performance? We have these standby files from so many days but recently we are able to see these errors
Any help regarding this is much appreciate.

I have a DR database of primary on QA Serevr. The Redo log files are not properly applied in the DR database.
The Oracle version is 11.2.0.1 Some of the files get shipped and applied to DR database automatically but not all.

Nadeem asifHello,
You may check the status of your datafiles:
select * from v$recover_file;If it returns nothing, then you may do the following:
--> Shutdown your database
--> Take a cold Backup of it.
startup mount;
recover database until cancel;
alter database open resetlogs;
--> If the database could open then shutdown it and take a new Cold Backup.Hope this help.

ORA-00314 - Restoring from Cold Backup. ( Redologs on Raw Disk startup)
Greetings,
We're running Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production ( Solaris Sparc )
we've recently switched to redologs on raw disks to improve DB write performance. Have taken a cold backup of db , But db denies to open normally after restoration.
Any ideas what could be wrong? and how to fix this?

from here it is showing no errors or nothing in my alert log file from yesterday eveningNo version number, no definition of what you mean by "standby database" and not a clue as to what you mean by "restore" or why you did it.
No help is possible at this time.
PS: We do not guess at what someone means by "MRM modemout stage" ... you need to define your terms. -
ORA-00312 problem, thank you very much!
Hi, there,
when I use OEM standalone to login the database, I found there is an error:
ORA-00313:open failed for members of log group1 of thred 1
ORA-00312:online log 1 thread 1 "c:\oracle-database-server\oradata\redo01.log"
then I can't open the database and only can mount it.
and then I found all the other databases on my local machine have the exact same problem. at the same time, I found the service of OracleOracle9iDB_serveManagementServer can't startup. whenever I want to start it, it warn me "start and stop, becuase there is no work connect to it". so I doublt it seems there is something wrong with my operation system, but not the database's problem. my os is WIN XP PRO.
does there anyone who knows the reason and how can I solve it? besides, can I backup the database in mount status and how?
thank you very much for any hint!
I do need you help, thank you so much!!Please repost this in one of the database forums, unfortunately most of us on the JDev team are better at Java than database issues.
Here's the URL to the general RDBMS forum here on OTN:

SQL> recover datafile 'D:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\ORCL\SYSAUX01.DBF'
ORA-00283: recovery session canceled due to errors
ORA-00341: log 3 of thread 1, wrong log # 2 in header
ORA-00312: online log 3 thread 1:
'D:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\ORCL\REDO03.LOG'
please if anyone could help me to solve this problem.
many many Thanks in advance
Nadeem asif1) Recovering After Losing a Member of a Multiplexed Online Redo Log Group: If the hardware problem is temporary, then correct it. The log writer process accesses the previously unavailable online redo log files as if the problem never existed.
If the hardware problem is permanent, then drop the damaged member and add a new member by using the following procedure.
SQL> SELECT GROUP#, STATUS, MEMBER FROM V$LOGFILE WHERE STATUS='INVALID';
GROUP# STATUS MEMBER
0002 INVALID /oracle/oradata/trgt/redo02.log
SQL > ALTER DATABASE DROP LOGFILE MEMBER '/oracle/oradata/trgt/redo02.log';
SQL> ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE MEMBER '/oracle/oradata/trgt/redo02b.log' TO GROUP 2;
If the file you want to add already exists, then it must be the same size as the other group members, and you must specify REUSE. For example:
SQL > ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE MEMBER '/oracle/oradata/trgt/redo02b.log' REUSE TO GROUP 2; -
