ORA-00980 during ValidStruct

Hi Oracle-experts!
After ValidStruct job I get the following errors:
BR0301E SQL error -980 at location stats_tab_validate-2, SQL statement:
'ANALYZE TABLE "SYS"."STREAMS$_APPLY_SPILL_MSGS_PART" VALIDATE STRUCTURE CASCADE ONLINE'
ORA-00980: synonym translation is no longer valid
BR0893E Validating structure failed for table/cluster SYS.STREAMS$_APPLY_SPILL_MSGS_PART
Can some one help me to solve this error?

Hello,
What is your Oracle release?
If you are at 10.2.0.1 then you have to upgrade to the latest 10.2.0.4, if you are already in the correct release then follow the note
provided in the previous post.

  • If you see ORA-00980 during RPM 13.1.6 install

    While upgrading from 13.1.5.1 to 13.1.6 the compile invlaid object step of the rpm install failed.
    The cause was in invalid package RECLASS_SQL.
    The error that was being shown in the compile of RECLASS_SQL was ORA-00980
    The reason for the error was a bad synonym obj_rcls_cost_event_rec.
    When I looked at the source for the synonym it was pointing at SYS instead of RMS13 schema
    I rebuild the Synonym and all was good.
    Hope this helps someone else.

  • Encountered ora-29701 during Sun Cluster for Oracle RAC 9.2.0.7 startup (UR

    Hi all,
    Need some help from all out there
    In our Sun Cluster 3.1 Data Service for Oracle RAC 9.2.0.7 (Solaris 9) configuration, my team had encountered
    ora-29701 *Unable to connect to Cluster Manager*
    during the startup of the Oracle RAC database instances on the Oracle RAC Server resources.
    We tried the attached workaround by Oracle. This workaround works well for the 1^st time but it doesn’t work anymore when the server is rebooted.
    Kindly help me to check whether anyone encounter the same problem as the above and able to resolve. Thanks.

    ORA-29701 DURING DATABASE CREATION AFTER APPLYING 9.2.0.6 PATCHSET
    *** 03/25/05 07:32 am ***
    TAR:
    PROBLEM:
    Customer applied 9.2.0.6 patchset over 9.2.0.4 patchset.
    While creating the database, customer receives following error:
         ORA-29701: unable to connect to Cluster Manager
    However, if customer goes from 9.2.0.4 -> 9.2.0.5 -> 9.2.0.6, the problem does not occur.
    DIAGNOSTIC ANALYSIS:
    It seems that the problem is with libskgxn9.so shared library.
    For 9.2.0.4 -> 9.2.0.5 -> 9.2.0.6, the install log shows the following:
    installActions2005-03-22_03-44-42PM.log:,
    [libskgxn9.so->%ORACLE_HOME%/lib/libskgxn9.so 7933 plats=1=>[46]langs=1=> en,fr,ar,bn,pt_BR,bg,fr_CA,ca,hr,cs,da,nl,ar_EG,en_GB,et,fi,de,el,iw,hu,is,in, it,ja,ko,es,lv,lt,ms,es_MX,no,pl,pt,ro,ru,zh_CN,sk,sl,es_ES,sv,th,zh_TW, tr,uk,vi]]
    installActions2005-03-22_04-13-03PM.log:, [libcmdll.so ->%ORACLE_HOME%/lib/libskgxn9.so 64274 plats=1=>[46] langs=-554696704=>[en]]
    For 9.2.0.4 -> 9.2.0.6, install log shows:
    installActions2005-03-22_04-13-03PM.log:, [libcmdll.so ->%ORACLE_HOME%/lib/libskgxn9.so 64274 plats=1=>[46] langs=-554696704=>[en]] does not exist.
    This means that while patching from 9.2.0.4 -> 9.2.0.5, Installer copies the libcmdll.so library into libskgxn9.so, while patching from 9.2.0.4 -> 9.2.0.6 does not.
    ORACM is located in /app/oracle/ORACM which is different than ORACLE_HOME in customer's environment.
    WORKAROUND:
    Customer is using the following workaround:
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib make -f ins_rdbms.mk rac_on ioracle ipc_udp

    Unfortunately the way your XML Schema are designed I do not think XML DB is going to be able to handle them. The problem is the substituion group for vsData. Basically it defines a very flat structure which will require a table with more than 1000 columns to persist. Since the structure is very flat we cannot use the technique of pushing sections of the structure into out-of-line tables to store it, which is the normal workaround.
    This looks to me like a case of the classic mistake of modeling a Java Object structure directly into XML. In general this makes no sense. There is no common information between all of the different elements of the substition group or the vsData type, so there is no point in having all the members of the substition grouip descend from a single abstract type. You could just as easily model your XML Structure as a choice of any of the elements defined in the substition group. If new elements need to be introduced this could be done using extension of the existing complexType with new choices.
    The advantage of this approach is that you can push each of the possible chocies into a seperate table, and avoid the 1000 column limit..
    Sorry for the bad news, hope you have flexibility to re-architect the XML Schema. Note that this should not affect the instance documents

    Since you are on 10g did you try flashback table feature - http://tonguc.wordpress.com/2007/01/01/oracle-10g-flashback-versions-query-drop-table-and-recyclebin-management/
    FLASHBACK TABLE <tabname> TO BEFORE DROP;
    If you didnt use purge option, the dropped object is on your recyclebin - http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/statements_9018.htm#sthref9593

  • Has anyone else seen ORA-00980 synonym errors when using XMLConcat?

    Hi,
    Using 10.2.0.2 ( as shown by select * from v$instance), I get an ORA-00980 "Synonym translation is no longer valid" message.
    This occurs for any attempt to use XMLConcat, for a simple example:
    SELECT XMLConcat(XMLElement("first", 'Steve'),
    XMLElement("last", 'Jones'))
    AS "RESULT"
    FROM dual;
    I'm guessing that there is/was a problem with an upgrade since I've found a few vague references to a bug fixed in 9.2 that seems to point in that direction.
    Our DBA team is looking into it, but it would be interesting to hear if other developers hit the same problem and if there was a relatively easy fix.
    Thanks!

    SQL> conn / as sysdba
    SQL> @catnoqm
    SQL> @catqmTry to fix it first though manually. The upgrade probably went wrong somehow...

    How do I uninstall XML DB ? How do I re-install XML DB ?
    Posted: Sep 11, 2006 10:28 PM    mdrake in response to: mdrake
    To uninstall XML DB run the sql script $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catnoqm.
    Note that running this script will
    1. DELETE ALL INFORMATION STORED IN THE ORACLE XML DB REPOSITORY AND XDB DATABASE SCHEMA
    2. PERMANENTLY INVALIDATE ANY XMLTYPE TABLES OR COLUMNS THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH A REGISTERED XML SCHEMA.
       IF THE XDB USER IS DROPPED THERE IS NO WAY TO RECOVER THE DATA IN THESE XMLTYPE TABLES OR COLUMNS.
    Please do not uninstall XML DB in a production database without explicit instructions from Oracle Support to do so.
    To re-install XDB, after running catnoqm.sql, stop and restart the instance and then run catqm as described in the previous post. Backup your database first via RMAN...

    We just moved our DEV database to a 64bit box and now when going into OEM and clicking on any of the schema's we get ORA-00980 synonym translation is no longer valid. Clicking Ok will get us through but then clicking on synonyms tab we get the same error and no information is in the right frame. SQL plus and Toad are working fine connecting to the same database.

    Provide Details:

    - OMS Version / Plattform
    - Agent Version

  • Ora-00980 creating mv over db link

    Hi,
    I need some help traking down a pesky ora-00980 syn tranlation no longer valid. Here is my situation. I have a view foo
    created in schema A that access data over a db link defined in schema A. User A can access data just fine. User A has granted select on the view to user B. User B can select data from the view just fine.
    select * from a.foo ;
    ...lots of data
    User B sees data...no synonym is involved.
    Now user B tries to create a mv
    create materialized view bar as select * from a.foo;
    throws ora-00980
    User A can create the same MV just fine.
    Any suggestions? 10.2.0.4.0
    Steve

    Hi,
    I suppose you are getting a below problem.
    If you have a table in schema A of remote database.
    Synonym exist in schema B of local database.
    Synonym or when you try to exist this synonym from any other schema or database through pl/sql you would get ora-980 (ie. third level resolution is not possible through PL/sql).
    Am not sure whether this would hold true for materialized view or not.
    As a test case,
    Create a synonym in schema B pointing directly to schema A of remote database (instead of via schema A of local database). Now try to create a materialized view.
    But before that make sure schema B has a direct access to synonym of A (without any roles)

  • ORA-04031 during export on CTX-index

    Hi !
    I get ORA-04031 during export when an interMedia CTX-Index should get exported. The exact error message is:
    unable to allocate 4072 bytes of shared memory ("shared pool", "DBMS_SYS_SQL", "PL/SQL MPCODE", "BAMIMA: BAM Buffer")
    followed by
    ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called
    ORA-06512: in "SYS.DBMS_SQL", line 9
    ORA-06512: in "SYS.DBMS_EXPORT_EXTENSION", line 244
    Any hints for me what I could do?
    TIA,
    Stefan

    Interesting.  You should open a  thread with a more relevant title about views with pk / fk constraints.
    I don't have a way to solve your problem --- to identify such views.

  • Form - Remote DB - Link - Synonym - ORA-00980: synonym translation invalid

    All,
    I have created a PUBLIC LINK AND SYNONYM on a table in a remote DB using the Navigator/Wizard. I then tried to create a FORM using the Wizard. In the Wizard I press enter to FINISH and I receive the error listed below.
    Note I have read and read and re-read all info available to me on the subject. Some posts on MetaLink and these forums suggested that the Link and Synonym made Public - they are as they live in the Public Schema. Another doc stated the "Returning" statement was the problem.
    I have tested this in SQLPLus and it works fine.
    What is the is problem with this and how do I fix it?????
    Thanks,

    Yeah, it is pretty simple really. Metalink note 174618.1 covers it. The note is for Rel1, but the same works with Rel2.
    Cut and paste doesnt work well here, but if you cant access the note, I can reformat it and paste it in here.

  • SQL Developer BUG - ORA-00980 Synonym Translation No Longer Valid

    We have a read only database of our Production and when I try to access any data using the SQL Developer, I'm getting the following Error.
    Error at Command Line:1 Column:14
    Error report:
    SQL Error: ORA-00980: synonym translation is no longer valid
    If I access the same from SQL Plus, Toad or SQL Station, It works fine. Seems some error in SQL Developer.
    Any one with Ideas or suggestions.

    we have DB cloned from Prod everynight and is available for us on readonly access. No read /write privs to any user including DBA.
    I think the DB is opened with ALTER DATABASE OPEN READ ONLY;
    Also to mention, all the tables in the db can be accessible only by read only user who was given select permission on synonyms.

  • ORA-26667 during checkpoint retention check

    HI Guys
    I have an environment which is being replicated in 2 ways (DML,DDL ) RDBMS 10.2.0.4 , each RDBMS is running in RAC (3 nodes one RDBMS) and another running (2 nodes RAC) everything was running without problems for the last 3 months however last weekend I got
    Sat Feb 14 23:18:41 2009
    STREAMS Warning: ORA-26667 during checkpoint retention check <= this message is the first kind of message that we got
    Sun Feb 15 05:18:43 2009
    STREAMS Capture C 1: first scn changed.
    scn: 0x0009.79468518
    However I took a look that day and I dint find any issue I looked for that problem in metalink but I didn't find any problem , this message came out when the checkpoint retention time moved
    the checkpoint retention time in streams is a number of days that the capture process retains checkpoints before purging them automatically . A capture process periodically computes the age of a checkpoint by subtracting the next_time of the archived redo log that corresponds to the checkpoint from dba_capture.first_time of the archived redo log file containing the required checkpoint scn
    if the resulting value is grater than the checkpoint retention time then the capture process automatically purges the checkpoint by advancing the dba_capture.first_scn value all the archived retained by the dba_caprure process can be seen using dba_registered_archived_log view
    the default retention time is 60 days
    i didnt find any error in the RDBMS therefore I didnt do anything but on Monday morning I got a lot of replication errors caused by
    ORA-01403 , after fixing all those errors I changes of the database that I got that error were not replicated across the other database , it could explain why many tables got out of sync , seems the reason was the propagation process was hanging , I stopped and restarted no changes were received in the other database , as a workaround I recreate it and the problem was fixed . Have you had a problem like this before ?
    Rgds

    browsing on Metalink seems the way to trace the root cause of this kind of problem is running the Oracle Streams Healtcheck right away after we got this kind of problem , seems the error that I got was just a coincidence because there is nothing related
