ORA-01504: database name 'DEV1' does not match parameter db_name 'PROD1'
Hi, All -
This is my first time cloning a database. The recovery finished but gave me the following error message. All the parameters in the pfile are set to "DEV1". I believe that the parameter db_name 'PROD1' exists in the control file and causing this error. The control file is under ASM.
How can I change the parameter in the control file and bring the 'DEV1' cloned database up? Also, how can I avoid this issue next time I do a clone?
Thanks in advance!

Migration from 9i to 11g Transparent Gateway results in a) ORA-12704: character set mismatch b) ORA-02070: database ... does not support SYS_OP_C2C in this context
What Transparent Gateway (TG) 11g configuration steps prevent the following errors?:
a) ORA-12704: character set mismatch
b) ORA-02070: database <DB_link_name> does not support SYS_OP_C2C in this context
Hints:
The current 9i TG works with the existing views and packages. These same db objects will not compile using the new 11g TG.
The db objects are on an Oracle 10g database linked to an SQL Server 2008 R2 database.
Since the 9i TG works I assume a configuration to the 11g TG will get it working same as before. But what...
Is is something controlled by these parameters? (Sorry, I don't know how this stuff works. I'm the application developer. My DBAs setup the Transparent Gateways.):
Parameters in the Gateway Startup Shell script:
ORA_NLS33
NLS_LANG
Parameters in the initsid.ora file:
HS_LANGUAGE
HS_NLS_DATE_FORMAT
HS_NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE
I'm avoiding the known workaround to refactor the VIEWS and PACKAGES to contain CAST() statements to explicitly match the data types. A server side fix to the 11g TG is preferred.
Sample code:
a) ORA-12704: character set mismatch
... is caused by SQL that works with my 9i TG but not with my 11g TG. It's a snippit from my view that won't compile:
select status_code -- Oracle VARCHAR2(30)
from ora_app_interfaces
UNION
select "StatusCode" as status_code -- SQL Server NVARCHAR(30)
from SqlAppInterfaces
Example workaround that I'm avoiding:
select status_code
from ora_app_interfaces
UNION
select CAST("StatusCode" as VARCHAR(30)) as status_code
from SqlAppInterfaces
b) ORA-02070: database <DB_link_name> does not support SYS_OP_C2C in this context
A line of code in the procedure that compiles correctly but fails to execute:
-- Insert into SQL Server from Oracle
insert into PatientMedRecNum (
"PatID", -- SQL Server INT
"MedRecNum", -- SQL Server NVARCHAR(11)
"Hospital") -- SQL Server NVARCHAR(30)
values (
pi_pat_id, -- Oracle NUMBER
pi_med_rec_num, -- Oracle VARCHAR2
pi_hospital); -- Oracle VARCHAR2
I'd guess the errors are caused by the TG's implicit conversion between the Oracle VARCHAR2 and the SQL Server NVARCHAR... but this works fine on the 9i TG... how do I set it up to work on the 11g TG?
Thanks!Trace of 11g TG... generating errors due to lack of automatic mapping from SQL NVARCHAR to Oracle NVARCHAR, where the previous 9g TG mapped from SQL NVARCHAR to Oracle VARCHAR2.

As far as i know 6.1 is not compatible with the 5 db schema, so you will need an update / migration plan for the db also. -

Ok. been working on this for the better part of a day. I am having trouble with the .net web controls. trying to create a simple portlet that populates a text box with values from a 2nd text box when a button is selected. both text boxes are in the same portlet.
without using the <httpModules> entry in the web.config file the portlet works fine, but it does pop you out of the portal.
setup: working in a Dev. environment with portal and portlets on the same box.Portal version is 5.0.2.EDK version is 5.0.2.

************************************************************Is there any step by step instructions for setting up and using the .net web controls in Plumtree????
There doesn't seem to be any information in one spot as to setting up the environment to use the .Net Web Controls. I have had to piece together information from multipule threads to get this far. I.E. there was nothing in any documentation that I have read that required the installation of the VJ# lib's. (that error took me the first half of the day to resolve :-) )
Thanks for any help,
Greg************************************************************Also, when reviewing the Plumtree_.NET_Web_Controls_InstallLog.log there were 5 nonfatal erros. These error's were:

When installing the Web Control's do you need to stop any services? I didn't see anything in the install notes about doing this? -
We have got 5.0.2 Plumtree portal, EDK 5.0.2 and .Net Web Controls 2.1.
I am trying to call:
IPortletContext oPortletContext = PortletContextFactory.CreatePortletContext(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Request, System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Response);
I have attached the error I am getting. Is this related to Open Foundation version? This is quite urgent because we are in the process of trying to get a demo together for grabbing Activity Rights.

Also noticed that you are using the System.Web.HttpContext.Current fully qualified namespace in the CreatePortletContext() call instead of the usual way of PortletContextFactory.CreatePortletContext(Request, Response) this uses the System.Web.HttpRequest.Page namespace by default. -
Server name SSL does not match subject of certificate Server-Cert
Sun Java System Web Server 7.0U1 B06/12/2007 22:13
We see the following warning in the startup log everytime. We have been ignoring this for awhile now since SSL is working fine and browsers don't complain. But recently we found some mobile browsers are not happy with our SSL pages. So we are thinking this may be the casue.
warning ( 3256): CORE1251: On HTTP listener http-listener-2, server name SSL does not match subject "www.ourdomain.com" of certificate Server-Cert.
What does this warning really mean? Do we need to rename the server name "SSL" to match the domain name?
ThanksAFAIK That warning is a result of the fact that the hostname doesn't match the certificate.
The cert has a Common Name (CN) attribute of the certificate's Subject Name or Subject Alternative Name (SAN) of type DNS name
should match with the server's DNS name.
hostname == machines name
I don't know if we need to change the instances server name as well.
I will try on my machine and and will let you know.
Are you sure this warning is the source of your problem? Look at what Joe has written :
"If most of your users are not getting browsers complaining of a mis-match then this is likely not the source of your mobile device problem."
Which mobile model and browsers are you getting complains from? We can try testing it here. -
I am using an HP photosmart D110a ePrinter with an ipad2 and I have inadvertently altered the network name (ssid) to the point that the wireles network test report says "that the (ssid) does not match my addess point network name (ssid) exactly." What do I do to put things right again?
Input the correct SSID into the printer and connect.
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos Thumbs Up to the right in the post.
If my post resolved your problem, please mark it as an Accepted Solution ...

Free space of mdf and ldf does not match with database free space
In SSMS i saw file size related properties and found below details for one database.Here values does not match with other properties. Here size of the mdf, ldf and total size matches with other values under each window. But Available free space of mdf and ldf
if added then it does not equal to Available free space shown in shrink database window and free space shown in database properties. This is true for any database. Why is it so? Please can anyone explain the logic behind this?
Under database properties:
Size: 91.31 MB
Space available:13.40 MB
Under database file properites:
mdf size:17 MB
ldf size:75 MB
under shrink database:
currently allocated size:91.31 MB
Available free space:13.40 MB
under shrink file-for data file:
currently allocated size:16.38 MB
Available free space:12.63 MB
under shrink file-for log file:
currently allocated size:74.94 MB
Available free space:55.62 MBHi,
Database properties and database shrink show the total (log+data) values. Others show the individual sizes, log and data separately.
I hope it helps.

This does not answer my question. If you add allocated space of mdf and ldf it equals to database allocated size.But i am asking why this ldf and mdf free space together(when added 55.62+12.63 ) does not equal to database free space? -

We are aware of the bug https://bug.oraclecorp.com/pls/bug/webbug_edit.edit_info_top?rptno=8746171
We changed the UI classes to avoid that issue but we did not change our backend classes.
ThanksLooks like you are an Oracle employee as the link you provided can't be reached from the outside.
If this is correct, you should use some kind of internal communication to address your problem, as we the normal users don't have access to the internal stuff.

baskar.lHi,Baskar.How you clone your database and which command after you got this error.You can resolve this problem with re-create controlfile as(It mean is you actually change your database name):

ORA-23327: imported deferred rpc data does not match GLOBAL NAME of ..
Hi,
We took an export of a production database in Oracle 9i (9.2.0.7) and created a new database on a test server with Oracle 10g (10.1.0.5)
The original production database was called DC20 and our new test database is called SD20.
Looking at the logs after the import we're seeing this error:
"ORA-23327: imported deferred rpc data does not match GLOBAL NAME of importing db"
We've looked into it a little and it seems to make sense because the names of the databases are different, and from what we've read, we really didn't need to do a full import including SYSTEM anyway. We also came across a solution telling us:
"If you are not using Replication on the target database, these errors can be ignored. However, you should subsequently remove all the replication objects by running:
$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catrepr.sql, then catproc.sql"
What I was wondering was if someone could validate that running these scripts and ignoring the errors will be ok, or if they'll cause us issues further down the line.
In case its needed, heres my Export parameter file
"FULL=Y
DIRECT=Y
LOG=E:\Exports\DC20\Log\expDC20.LOG
FILE=E:\Exports\DC20\Data\DC20.DMP"
and heres my Import parameter file
"FULL=Y
COMMIT=Y
GRANTS=N
IGNORE=Y
BUFFER=500000
FILE=E:\Imports\SD20\data\SD20.dmp
LOG=E:\imports\SD20\log\impSD20.LOG"
Thanks for your help!Thanks Neil, we did already see this note and added it to our list of possible solutions. After we found this one, we also found the one I quoted, which would seem to be the path of least resistance (it would save a good 10 hours in import time if nothing else).
However, if we can't do what I'm asking about in my original post however, the note you mentioned will be our next route.. -
ORA-01861 literal does not match format string, ORA-02063preceding line fro
We have upgraded a client from 8.0.5 to 9.2.03. The following query is called from a report that was built using Cold Fusion5. It worked in 8.0.5, but not 9.2.03. When you run the report you get the errors
[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-01861: literal does not match format string ORA-02063: preceding line from FRPE
Here's the query:
SELECT x.acct, x.obj, x.offn, x.status, x.asofdate, max( decode( x.func_id, 1, t, null ) ) UOB, max( decode( x.func_id, 12, t, null ) ) COB, max( decode( x.func_id, 24, t, null ) ) Rate_Warning, max( decode( x.func_id, 2, t, null ) ) Sector_Change, max( decode( x.func_id, 2006, t, null) ) FRRFRD , max( decode( x.func_id, 2003, t, null ) ) No_Tcode , max( decode( x.func_id, 2004, t, null) ) No_Sector FROM ( SELECT a.acct, a.func_id, count(*) cnt, 'Fail' t, b.obj, b.offn, b.status,a.asofdate FROM frpfaud@FRPE a, frpair@FRPE b WHERE a.acct=b.acct AND a.asofdate='2008-02-29 00:00:00' AND b.bnk not like 'B%' and b.obj not in ('KL') and b.obj in ('GAF') GROUP BY a.acct, a.func_id,b.obj,b.offn,b.status,a.asofdate) x GROUP BY x.acct, x.obj,x.offn,x.status,x.asofdate
Now, this query will not work by running straight through SQL worksheet in either the 8.0.5 or 9.2.03 regions. So I guess it has something to do with Cold Fusion- which I know nothing about. Has anyone had any experience using Cold Fusion to issue a query? What would be the cause of the difference between the Oracle versions? That is the only thing that changed.
Thanks for any input.I actually want the date format of DD-MON-YY. Which, from what I understand, is the default format for both Oracle 8.0.5 and 9.2.03. I'm trying to figure out why it is now displaying as 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss'. I could convince the client that the code needs changing if I had evidence that this version of Oracle (9.2.03) used a different default date format. Or if Cold Fusion pulls the date differently. Ughh.

Hi,
I want to load a XML document in structured XMLType. You can run my code on your database if you have a directory object called LOG_DIR. I am on Oracle 10.1 .
The schema is a simple example which describe a database table(like it will have 1 or more columns and 0 or more indexes). My schema looks like,
<xs:schema elementFormDefault="qualified" attributeFormDefault="unqualified" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<xs:element name="Tables" type="Table">
<xs:annotation>
<xs:documentation>Table defination</xs:documentation>
</xs:annotation>
</xs:element>
<xs:element name="table_name" type="xs:string"/>
<xs:complexType name="Table">
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element name="Column" type="Column" minOccurs="1"/>
<xs:element name="Index" type="Index" minOccurs="0"/>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:complexType>
<xs:complexType name="Column">
<xs:annotation>
<xs:documentation>Column of the table</xs:documentation>
</xs:annotation>
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element name="Name" type="xs:string" minOccurs="1"/>
<xs:element name="Type" type="xs:string" minOccurs="1"/>
<xs:element name="Capacity" type="xs:decimal" minOccurs="1"/>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:complexType>
<xs:complexType name="Index">
<xs:annotation>
<xs:documentation>Index on the table</xs:documentation>
</xs:annotation>
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element name="Name" type="xs:string" minOccurs="1"/>
<xs:element name="Type" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:complexType>
</xs:schema>
I registered the schema,
BEGIN
DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.registerSchema(
SCHEMAURL => 'tables.xsd',
SCHEMADOC => bfilename('LOG_DIR','tables.xsd'),
CSID => nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8')
END;
This was successfull, also the following create table was ok,
CREATE TABLE TMP_XML_TABLES
file_name VARCHAR2(2000),
load_date DATE,
xml_document XMLType
XMLType COLUMN xml_document
XMLSchema "http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb/schemas/TDB/tables.xsd"
ELEMENT "Tables";
Now I have a XML document,
<Tables xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb/schemas/TDB/tables.xsd">
<table_name>trades</table_name>
<Column><Name>trade_id</Name><Type>varchar2</Type><Capacity>50</Capacity></Column>
<Column><Name>source</Name><Type>varchar2</Type><Capacity>100</Capacity></Column>
<Column><Name>trade_date</Name><Type>date</Type></Column>
<Column><Name>trader</Name><Type>varchar2</Type><Capacity>200</Capacity></Column>
<Index><Name>trades_pk</Name><Type>btree</Type></Index>
<Index><Name>trades_idx1</Name><Type>bitmap</Type></Index>
</Tables>
When I am trying to load this, I get the error,
SQL> INSERT INTO TMP_XML_TABLES
2 VALUES
3 ('tables1.xml',
4 sysdate,
5 XMLType
6 (
7 bfilename('LOG_DIR','tables1.xml'),
8 nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8')
9 )
10 );
INSERT INTO TMP_XML_TABLES
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-19007: Schema - does not match expected tables.xsd.
Can somebody please explain the cause ???
Thanks and RegardsA quick search of the forum for ORA-19007 should have allowed you to find the answer to your problem. Since you XML Schema does not declare a target namespace you need to use the xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation tag rather than the schemaLocation tag..
Also please do not use URLs starting http://xmlns.oracle.com for your schemaLocation hint. If you do no own your own domain I'd suggest example.org...
Finally please make sure that your XML Instance is valid per your XML Schema before posting. You can do this using tools like JDeveloper or XMLSpy. What should have been a 5 min repsonse took me over 20 mins to work through due to the errors in the XML Schema...
Anyway here's a working example for you

The folllowing shows how you can do this from SQL and then create a view which contains the metadata and document content. The advantage of this approach is you can now load the documents using FTP or WebDAV.

Thanks in ADv...Hi,
It is the Date Data type...There's your problem then; NEVER, EVER, EVER to_date a date!! As you have discovered, it leads to problems when your code is run on different clients due to the different NLS settings they may have. You've been lucky, in other words, that your code has been working at all!
What to_dating a date does is this:
to_date(to_char(date_value, <format in NLS_DATE_FORMAT parameter>), <format in NLS_DATE_FORMAT parameter>) You've been lucky because your NLS_DATE_FORMAT has the same format as the data, on your client. On the database, however, it is clearly different.
Simply remove the to_date from your already-a-date value, and you should find that it works fine.
