    Hello - if you are seeing any report problem or exceptions on UI, then (a) try without the filter. (b) Try another type of view and see if error reoccurs (c) see if your dataobject (the field on the filter) has any null or invalid data (or wrong type or format).
    Also - for these type of errors - it is better to export your dataobject and report and send it to support. We have fixed these types of errors from 10.1.2 to 10.1.3- so I guess this is more with respect to your data or report design. • Convrtd to Invterval Part- ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

    Hi all,
    I had a table as Interval Partitioned. In order to create XML- Xpath indexes on it, I converted it to Range Partitioned table.
    I am able to create the XPATH indexes but I get the error: ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    - When I revert the code to Interval Partitioned without the XMLIndex, it works fine(although takes time as no XML Index)
    - When I convert table to non partitioned table, create the XML Index, it works fine.
    But I need the partitons, so when I create the partitioned table I get the error.
    CREATE TABLE INT_PART_TABLE
    DB_ID VARCHAR2(10 BYTE),
    xML_mESSAGE SYS.XMLTYPE,
    LOAD_TIMESTAMP TIMESTAMP(6)
    XMLTYPE xML_mESSAGE STORE AS BINARY XML
    PARTITION BY RANGE (LOAD_TIMESTAMP)
    PARTITION MAX VALUES LESS THAN (TIMESTAMP' 2013-06-01 00:00:00')
    TABLESPACE CSTR_STG_DATA
    NOCOMPRESS
    NOCACHE
    ENABLE ROW MOVEMENT;
    BEGIN
    DBMS_XMLINDEX.dropparameter('Indx_Par');
    END;
    BEGIN
    DBMS_XMLINDEX.REGISTERPARAMETER(
    'Indx_Par',
    'PATH TABLE Table1
    PATHS (INCLUDE ( /abc:field1/xyz:field2
    /abc:field1/def:field2
    NAMESPACE MAPPING ( xmlns:abc="ABCD"
    xmlns:def="DEFG"
    xmlns:xyz="XYZA"
    end;
    create index INDX_XPATHS on "INT_PART_TABLE" (XML_MESSAGE) indextype is xdb.xmlindex
    parameters ('PARAM Indx_Par') local;
    Now if I execute the following statement in
    SELECT T.xML_mESSAGE
    FROM INT_PART_TABLE1 T
    WHERE XMLEXISTS (
    declare namespace abc="ABCD";
    declare namespacedef="DEFG";
    declare namespace xyz="XYZA";
    let $tt as xs:boolean := fn:exists($p/main/id = ("144283","9085802")])
    return if ($tt) then true()
    else ()'
    PASSING T.xML_mESSAGE AS "p");
    - Is there any other way of writing this Select statement, which may work?
    - Any other thing I need to take care of when defining the table and partitions script so that I don't get this error?

    Hi,
    I think it's time you give a clear (and working) test case so that we can safely try to reproduce the issue.
    What you've given so far has syntax error and name mismatch.
    So please :
    - database version (SELECT * FROM v$version)
    - complete sequence of DLLs
    - some sample XML documents (it doesn't have to be the real ones, but at least something realistic)
    Thanks in advance.
    declare namespace abc="ABCD";
    declare namespacedef="DEFG";
    declare namespace xyz="XYZA";
    let $tt as xs:boolean := fn:exists($p/main/id = ("144283","9085802")])
    return if ($tt) then true()
    else ()'Why all that stuff? You don't have to return a boolean.

    Hi,
    Looks like your archivelog space is exhausted. Increase the db_recovery_file_dest_size size and check.
    SQL>  show parameter db_recovery

  • Oracle 8.1.5, ORA-03113: end-of-file on communicat

    My Environment:
    ====================
    Unix Solaris 7
    jre 1.1.6; using native threads (sparc)
    Oracle 8i 8.1.5
    Netscape Enterprise Server 3.6
    Servlet Exec 2.0.2 plugin for NE Server
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set to include oracle libraries.
    CLASSPATH is set to include oracle classes111.zip
    and nls_charset10.zip.
    Include sample program JdbcCheckup confirmed that
    oracle installation is correct.
    Problem:
    ========
    Our servlet accesses Oracle DB using oci8 drivers.
    We are able to succesfully run simple queries
    (accessing only 1 table) with result set containing
    upto 9882 rows. However, a more complicated query,
    accessing 3 tables (one table contains 9882 rows)
    and performing a join, usually fails. By some miracle,
    it run couple of times after we accessed the same tables
    a few times with some simple queries (probably, some data
    were cached by Oracle and succesfully reused).
    Query fails with the message specified in the subject:
    SQLException: ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    If we try to repeat the same query with the same connection,
    we get:
    ORA-01041: internal error. hostdef extension doesn't exist
    Any ideas ? Thanks.

    I've already given the developers a changed version that works, but here's the part I don't understand. When it's run as is I get the Ora-03113, but if I change the alias in the subquery select to og (the outer query alias), this sql runs. What is it about selecting the subquery column that is used in the where portion of the exists that makes oracle 9.2.0.1 on windows 2003 enterprise server lose the connection.
    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks in advance.You're using an unpatched base release and simply hitting a bug that causes the server foreground process that serves your request to fail with an exception that causes the operating system to kill the corresponding process (e.g. segment access violation, general protection fault, you name it).
    As a workaround use the rewritten query you've already found out but you should consider to install at least the 9.2.0.8 patch set to prevent most of such nasty bugs in the future.

    Did you actually read the alert-log ??
    The problem is clear in there. Your datafiles are corrupted!!!
    While the database is trying to correct these, a lot of ORA-00600 and ORA-07445's are generated.
    Consult Oracle Support to get this resolved

  • ORA-03113 end-of-file on channel communication

    Hello at everyone:
    I have a laptop pentium 133 MMX, 40 MB Ram, 2.1 GB.
    I have been installed slackware 3.5, kernel 2.0.36, on it and
    oracle 8 too.
    I run svrmgrl, connect internal, everithing go well, but when
    write the command "startup nomount" <ENTER>, oracle begin to work
    and 2 seconds after, more or less, appear the message of the
    subject.
    I found the possibly means of this:
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    Cause: An unexpected end-of-file was processed on the
    communication channel. The problem could not be handled by the
    Net8, two task, software. This message could occur if the shadow
    two-task process associated with a Net8 connect has terminated
    abnormally, or if there is a physical failure of the interprocess
    communication vehicle, that is, the network or server machine
    went down.
    Action: If this message occurs during a connection attempt, check
    the setup files for the appropriate Net8 driver and confirm Net8
    software is correctly installed on the server. If the message
    occurs after a connection is well established, and the error is
    not due to a physical failure, check if a trace file was
    generated on the server at failure time. Existence of a trace
    file may suggest an Oracle internal error that requires the
    assistance of customer support.
    ------------------------------------------<^
    This possibility, above |, i guess that not apply, because, i
    work in any network, everything is local.
    ------------------------------------------<ORA-3113: end of file communication channel
    Cause: An unexpected end-of-file was processed on the
    communication channel. The TCP/IP retransmission count on Win
    NT/95 has a default value of 5. This means that the send side
    retransmits the packet five times or until it gets an
    acknowledgment. The timeout for each retransmission is two times
    the timeout for the previous retransmission (exponential
    backoff). With the default value of 5, the send side retransmits
    5 times (approximately. 15 seconds) and if it does not get an
    acknowledgment. it assumes that the other side is down and closes
    the connection. If the link goes down for a minute or two the
    Net8 client receives this error.
    Action: Modify the retransmission count.
    Please see your Microsoft specific operating system manual for
    more information on tuning the microsoft TCP/IP software.
    ----------------------------------------------<I got it from Oracle 8 documentation for W95/NT. I guess that it
    is a good posibility. But how can to modify the retransmission
    count under Linux?

  • ORA-03113: end-of-file  in startup

    Hi,
    on 11g R2 on Win 2008 I try to create a DB but I receive end of file error :
    C:\Users\oracle>sqlplus / as sysdba
    SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.3.0 Production on Fri Mar 2 10:07:45 2012
    Copyright (c) 1982, 2011, Oracle.  All rights reserved.
    Connected to an idle instance.
    SQL> @0_createdb10.sql
    SQL> spool createdb.log
    SQL>
    SQL> startup nomount pfile=C:\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_2\database\initTEST.ora
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel Thank for any suggestion.

    First Set the ORACLE_SID
    The SID can be set through the ORACLE_SID environment variable.
    C:/../.../../>set ORACLE_SID=ORA10
    Creating an Oracle Service
    On Windows, each instance requires a Windows service. This service must first be created with oradim:
    D:\oracle\product\11.1.0\Db_home>oradim -new -sid %ORACLE_SID% -intpwd MYSECRETPASSWORD -startmode M
    Instance created.
    It can be verified that a Windows service was created by typing services.msc into the console. A service named OracleServiceORA10 (ORA10 = %ORACLE_SID%) will be found. Also, the startup type is manual as was requested by -startmode M.
    Creating the initialization parameter file
    When an Oracle instance starts up, it requires either an initialization paramter file (init.ora) or an SPFILE.
    SPFILES have binary content and must be created from init.ora files. Therefore, the init.ora file (which is an ordianary text file) is created first.
    Here's a minimal init.ora (under $ORACLE_HOME/dbs if it is Unix, or %ORACLE_HOME%\database, if it is windows) just to demonstrate how the control files are found. Of course, you will add more init params into the init.ora file.
    after creating an Oracle service and the init.ora file, start the instance:
    connect to the instance
    and
    SQL> startup nomount
    This created the SGA (System Global Area) and the background processes.
    Creating the database
    now you have to create the database:
    SQL>run the Create database script....
    If something goes wrong with the creation, Oracle will write an error into the alert.log. The alert log is normaly found in the directory that is specified with the background_dump_dest. If this parameter was not specified (as is the case in our minimal init.ora), the alert.log will be written into %ORACLE_HOME%/RDMBS/trace.
    If an ORA-01031: insufficient privileges is returned, that means most likely, that the current user is not in the dba group (on unix), or the ORA_DBA (windows).
    If the init.ora file is not at its default location or has not been found with the pfile attribute, an ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters and an LRM-00109: could not open parameter file '/appl/oracle/product/../initadpdb.ora' error is issued.
    The create database command also executes a file whose name is determined by the (hidden) init parameter initsql_file (which seems to default to sql.bsq)
    After the creation of the database, it can be mounted and opened for use.
    Completing the DB creation
    In order to complete the db creation, the following scripts must be run as sys:
    %ORACLE_HOME%/rdbms/admin/catalog.sql
    %ORACLE_HOME%/rdbms/admin/catproc.sql and
    SQL*Plus provides a shortcut to refer to the ORACLE_HOME directory: the question mark (?). Therefore, these scripts can be called like so:

  • ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel, Please help

    hello Seniors,
    i have strange situation, facing it for the first time.
    i m/s detail form and i am entering data. i successfully saved few records.
    i completed entering one more record and for a reason i left it unsaved.
    after lets say may be a minute or so, i got back to work and then tried to save the unsaved record
    displayed on screen. when i pressed save button i got error;
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    leaving the form as is with this error displayed, i notice that i can very well use the db at server level
    by running other sqls, meaning other resources are functioning. even i tried to open the same application again
    leaving the erroneous form as is, and tried to enter in another form , it communicated well and saved without any errors.
    also there is one more errro along with this, when i query; says "Unable to perform query"
    ORA-01041: internal error. hostdef extension doesn't exist
    and when exit the current form it quits the entire application and kills that particular session,
    but the db is still up and running with no errors.
    The Tnsping <hostname> is responding.
    i want to know while entring on a form, is there any time-out limit between the entry and saving point?
    or any other solution please help. vm thankful.

    i was testing entering into different forms of my application.
    what i notice that this problem persist with just one form i.e. my purchase order header-details form.
    whats happening is, it allows just the first or rather 1 record (incase if are in a query mode and select create record),
    saving the next or IInd record returns this error. God knows why..?
    can you please suggest any debugging technique to catch the theif?
    i have WNFI, POSt-FORM-COMMIT, KEY-COMMIT, PRE-COMMIT, PRE-FORM at form level
    at heade block i have ;
    PRE-INSERT,UPDATE,DELETE, PRE-RECORD,POST-QUERY, KEY-ENTQRY, ON-POPULTE-DET
    at detail blcok i have;
    PRE-INSERT,UPDATE,PRE-RECORD,POST-QUERY,WHEN-REMOVE-RECORD.
    sqlnet.ora, i have at 4 different dir;
    C:\orant\NET80\ADMIN & C:\orant\NET80\ADMIN\SAMPLE AND
    C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\NETWORK\ADMIN & C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\NETWORK\ADMIN\SAMPLE
    I am not so good with Dba interface, so please suggest me which particular file should refer and

    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    Please guide me what to do to resolve this problem
    Farhad

    The error, ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel, is a client driver error.
    The client driver simply says "hey, the database server process servicing me has torn down our communication channel!". The communication channel is usually a TCP socket connection.
    The client driver has no idea why. Thus you have to find the answer on the server.
    The usual cause of this communication channel being closed, is the Oracle server process servicing the client session, crashing.
    When an Oracle server process crashes, it does not tell the client. It usually writes an entry to the Oracle alert log, dump a trace file, and terminates. When terminating, it tears down any communication channels (TCP sockets) it may have opened.
    Therefore you must look in
    - the alert log file for an error message listing the crash (which will include the dump file name)
    - look at this trace dump file (which is difficult if you're not familiar with Oracle internals)
    - investigate the stack trace and error codes on Metalink (which often turns up the bug notes for this, plus any workarounds or available patches)
    Usually however, one should log these types of Oracle server errors as a TAR with Oracle Support.

  • Ora 03113 end of file of communication channel leads to coredump using svrmgrl

    hi,
    I have a similar problem. I installed Redhat linux version7 and tried to install oracle 816 but while connecting to SVRMGRL> it gives an ora-03113 end-of-file of communication channel. There is no database in the system. The dbassist also fails with the same error. I tried reinstalling for five times with different options but in vain. I analyzed the core using file core and strings core|head -10 it gave the following
    Core:ELF 32-bit LSB core file of 'oracle'(signal 6) Intel 80386, version1
    for strings command
    Core
    tl@#

    oracle

    core
    oracle
    rminal
    ffffff
    n?sh
    Whenever i try svrmgrl it raises the ora-03113 error and creates a oracle<defunct> process. I tried relinking the oracle executables. I also tried chaning various options with listener and tnsnames. But in vain. Could any one please help me on this problem.
    Thanks in Advance,
