  • Ora-03114 error when using trigger on spatial field

I have a table the has a lat and long field and an geometry field. I want to place a trigger so that as the users insert lat and long into the table it also populates those values into the geometry field. I built a trigger that is supposed to do this. Upon insert I get an ora-03114 error. I can run the same piece of pl/sql as a plain update statement. How do I solve this problem.
the DB is 9.0.1.2 and is stuck thier because of some 3rd party tools.

    Hi,
    ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
Cause: A call to Oracle was attempted when no connection was established. Usually this happens because a user-written program has not logged on. It may happen if communication trouble causes a disconnection. In addition, this message could occur when ALTER SYSTEM KILL SESSION or ALTER SYSTEM DISCONNECT SESSION were issued with the IMMEDIATE qualifier because, in those cases, the client's connection to the database is terminated without waiting for the client to issue a request.
Check your client connection settings, your driver etc.
    regards, Andreas

  • Error during SP application.'TP CONNECT SID ' returns ORA-03114 error.

    Hi All,
Last week we were applying an Add-On SAPK-510AGINAIN. It was running in
phase IMPORT_PROPER for more than 10 hours without any update in logs.
So I went into SM50 cancelled the work processess. From then when I continue the Add-on installation, I get an error 'TP_CANNOT_CONNECT_TO_SYSTEM' and tp return code 230. When I see
the SLOG, it says R3trans cannot create a process. When I tried
    doing 'tp connect PI7 pf=<profile name>, I get a error 'ORA-03114- NOt
connected to ORACLE' and also some SQL Query with ddntt table and few entries.
I also did a DBCHECK, the ABAP Dictionary is consistent with the
Database. Also I suspect the nametab entries should have been
inconsistent state when I killed the work process manually..
    Regards
    Thilip Kumar

    Hi Juan,
Oracle did not go down during SP application.. R3trans -d works fine and also the Transport tool tp check also is fine.. I have even upgraded the kernel to the latest level. STMS is configured for Single system landscape and it is also very well fine..
Please see the output of 'tp connect PIX pf="<TP_PROFILE_>"

  • Ora-03114 error on solaris 8

    hi
I am trying to install oracle 8.1.6 release 2 on a sun SPARC 64 bit machine with solaris 8. it has 250 MHz processor and 512 Mb ram.
the installation completes successfully but when DB configuration assistant starts to create the DB, i get the error message "ora-03114, not connected to ORACLE". I have also tried to perform a typical installation and i got the same error when creating the default DB.
At first, i had set the kernel parameters according to the installation guide but then i changed the semmns parameter to 2000. it had no effect. Creating the DB by gui or using the script does not change the result. I am sure about the environment variables and I have installed the latest kernel patch for solaris 8.
When i check the log files I see the following errors:
ora - 03113 end of file communication channel
ora - 03114 not connected to ORACLE
ora - 01034 ORACLE not available
    please help!
    Thanks
    null

This is not the right forum to ask this question.
But this problem is tically raised by low operating system
resources such as semaphores and so on.
Look at the Readme file of the installation CD and correct it on
    /etc/system file.
    Best regards, Marcelo.

Babblefish believes that your question translates to English as:
"I installed Oracle 9i 9,2 client on Windows 98 to connect me to the base Oracle 7.3.4. The installation was successful and the configuration of the Net also was successful, nevertheless, when executing the SQL extra sends an error to me and makes reference to product_user_profile, in addition, I cannot execute my application in VB sending the Ora-03114 error: not connected to ORACLE. What I need to form. When installing Oracle 8i does not present/display ningun successful error, working everything."
Assuming that's a proper translation, there are a couple of points:
    - The 9.2 client ins't certified to connect to a 7.3.4 database. There may well be random issues with this configuration.
    - product_user_profile indicates to me that your DBA may have set something up that prevents certain users/machines/applications/etc. from logging into the database. I'd try speaking with your DBA to see whether this is the case, and what you need to do to have the system changed.

  • WebAgent trouble with Linux (ORA-03114)

sometimes ORA-03114 error occur , when we use webagent with apache 1.3.12.
Only Linux platform (we tested NT and SunOS with same enviroment) , this error appeared.
normaly it work well , but after long time (..10h) passed since last access, it says
    Oracle interMedia Web Agent
An error occurred processing your MEDIAGET or MEDIAPUT request
Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-03113
therefore we can see that message every morning.I think connection timeout between WebAgentProcess to DB is matter.
i want to make it keep connection. how ?
    please help
    thanks, advance.
    taro

this trouble related to firewall settings.
DB would connect to webagent for timeout process. firewall dropped these packets, so webagent connection was timeout.it was clearly resolved.
    very thanks

  • Manage Data Targets - ORA 03114 SQL Error

Can someone help with this one.....
We have recently patched up to 24 in our BW Dev and all was well.
When I now go into cube...manage and contents. I simply want to select a few characteristics and view the data. When I choose a particular characteristic (0profit_ctr) and ask it to display, I get the following error message..
    Runtime errors         DBIF_REPO_SQL_ERROR
Database error text........: "ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE" Triggering SQL statement...: "CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB=============CP "
The current status of the ORACLE instance cannot be determined. It may still be inactive or the database administrator may have restarted it . In any case, all systems that have accessed the ORACLE instance
must be restarted after the ORACLE instance has been restarted.
    "DBIF_REPO_SQL_ERROR" C
    "SAPLRSDRS" or "LRSDRSF04"
    "FETCH_DATA_OPENSQL"
It seems to be pointing to the following line of code in LRSDRSF04...
    DESCRIBE TABLE <l_t_data> LINES l_count.
which is part of this statement..
If less than 'i_pkgsize' many tuples are read
      => end-of-data is reached
        DESCRIBE TABLE <l_t_data> LINES l_count.
        IF l_count <> i_pkgsize.
          e_eof = rs_c_true.
        ENDIF.
      ENDIF.
I can select other characteristics and they display OK. Reports seem to work OK. 0Profit_Ctr is active. Have emptied the cube and reloaded data. Still get the problem.
Just to confuse the issue, if I select 0Profit_ctr and 0priority together, it works (0priority is a nav attribute of 0profit_ctr)
But if I select 0project (project definition) which is also a nav attribute - it fails !
There does not seem to be any clear pattern. Some other cubes that have 0Profit_ctr have the same issue, whilst others do not !
Our Basis team have had a look and say its a 'data' problem, we will have to re-build the cubes !
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Pete

    Hi
We had the same problem. As you probably know you can define different updaterules for characteristics for separate keyfigures. For instance: for the first keyfigure get the controlling area from characteristic 0CO_AREA in the ODS and for the second keyfigure get the controlling are by a constant value 'KAD'. In our case we could solve the problem by using the same updaterules for each keyfigure and reloading the data in the cube. So maybe you can have a look at that.

  • SQLPlus COPY error: ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE

This is what I'm trying to do:
I'm logged into an Oracle 8.1.6 database on a Windows 2000 Professional box and trying to copy data and tables from an Oracle 7.3.4 database on an HP/UX box.
I log into my 8.1.6 SQLPlus as:
    scott/tiger@testdb
    Then I run the following:
    SQL> set copycommit 1
    SQL> set arraysize 1000
    SQL> copy from user/user1@devp1 -
    create reps_t -
    using -
select * from reps_tThis is my error:
    ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
Can someone give me a better understand how SQLPlus COPY works and give me an idea how to locate the problems.
    Thanks,
    Laith E.H.
    null

    I think this combination user/user1@devp1
    is not ok.
U can get good material about copy command
from technet itself. Just search for Copy

    Hi user:
    1. Yes the database and lsnr were closed as the tar files were created. So, i assume thate there are no any oracle session avalibale when you copy files from source to target
    2. Yes I would also like to mention that it already had an old instance. So this is just a new clone. So, i mention you have valid entery on /etc/hosts file
    3. Please can you describe what permissions as from root user it was done as
chown -R oratest:dba <db tier folders> If your target user is oratest than syntax seems correct, did you copy oracle_home too from source to target and this home owner is oratest again right?
    Regard

  • ORA-02068 Error Message

I recieved this error message, when running a procedure:
ORA-02068: following server error from DBLINK
    ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
    ORA-06512: at line 13
DBLINK is a database link to a remote database. Is it as simple as the remote database being offline..or is a different problem possible?
    Thanks,
    Duncan

Is this an Oracle to Oracle connection? Or is the addressed database a non-Oracle database? The combination ora-02068 and ora-03114 is typical for Heterogeneous Connectivity and/or Gateway Connectivity.
The basic problem is ora-03114 (You are not connected), it does not necessarily mean, database is down.

  • ORA-03113 and ORA-03114 problems

    Hi,
I'm experimenting Oracle8i. I'm installing 8.1.7 to RedHat Linux 7.0 out of box without recompiling the kernel. I set the SHMMAX to 0.5*258MB memory on the machine by echoing the number to /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax.
I checked that the system meets the requirements of Oracle's Installation Guide except SEMOPM. The RedHat Linux 7.0 sets it to 32, but Oracle requires 100.
I chose Oracle8i EE Typical Installation. The installation was ok to the point of running root.sh. Several syntax errors occur from root.sh. But they are minor syntax errors. I checked the code, regardless of errors, the scripts accomplished what it intends to do. The installation continued. I choose automatic configure Net8 when it ran Net8 Configuration Assistant and the Net8 Configuration was completed successful.
When it started Oracle Database Configuration Assistant, it created a database. But when it initialized the database, error messages ORA-03114 and ORA-03113 appeared many times. Each time, I chose to ignore. The final message was "Database creation completed with warnings."
    After installation, I ran svrmgrl
    $svrmgrl
    SVRMGR> connect INTERNAL
    Connected.
    SVRMGR> startup
    ORA-03113 end-of-file on communication channel
Checking the meaning of error messages, it says that if ORA-03113 occurs during a connection attempt, check the setup files for the appropriate Net8 driver and confirm Net8 software is correctly installed on the server.
During installation, I chose Local naming method. There are following files in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/
    listener.ora
    sqlnet.ora
    tnsnames.ora
    shrept.lst
To my layman's eye, they looked ok. I can even telnet to the linux machine with database name, although I don't know how the machine has acquired the alias without any changes to /etc/named.conf nor any changes to any files in /var/named directory.
Please tell me what is correctly installed Net8? or what went wrong and how I should fix the problem.
    Thanks,
    Wayne

I seem to have 8.1.7 creating a database with RH Linux 7.1 now. This was an important clue, since 7.1 hiccups 65% into the link phase of installation, thereby requiring the stubs patch to be run at that time, whereas 7.0 runs quite happily through the install & link without using the patch.
HOWEVER... before invoking dbassist to create the database under 7.1, you apparently need to export ASSUME_LD_LIBRARY = 2.2.5, etc., again, as you would do for the first time installing under RH 7.0.
