Ora-03114 in during dbca run in initxml.sql

I'm getting ora-03114 during dbca run in initxml.sql for an 11g db install, it completes the first compile but then fails and continues to fail with ora-03114. This happened before so i trashed the database and started again thinking it may have been a network issue, but its happened again.
any help appreciated.

Hi, I have problem with XE. Sometimes I've get ORA-03114, but server still works and another SQL forms works properly. It's important: this same SQL question sometimes works and sometimes not. Best regards Krzysiek

Check your alert log. You'll usually see an ORA-0600 error as well. Look into the details a bit. Good Luck.

  • Error during SP application.'TP CONNECT SID ' returns ORA-03114 error.

    Hi All,
Last week we were applying an Add-On SAPK-510AGINAIN. It was running in
phase IMPORT_PROPER for more than 10 hours without any update in logs.
So I went into SM50 cancelled the work processess. From then when I continue the Add-on installation, I get an error 'TP_CANNOT_CONNECT_TO_SYSTEM' and tp return code 230. When I see
the SLOG, it says R3trans cannot create a process. When I tried
    doing 'tp connect PI7 pf=<profile name>, I get a error 'ORA-03114- NOt
connected to ORACLE' and also some SQL Query with ddntt table and few entries.
I also did a DBCHECK, the ABAP Dictionary is consistent with the
Database. Also I suspect the nametab entries should have been
inconsistent state when I killed the work process manually..

    Hi Juan,
Oracle did not go down during SP application.. R3trans -d works fine and also the Transport tool tp check also is fine.. I have even upgraded the kernel to the latest level. STMS is configured for Single system landscape and it is also very well fine..
Please see the output of 'tp connect PIX pf="<TP_PROFILE_>"

  • ORA-12157 during dbca on 10.2.0.4 under SLES 10 SP2

    Dear all,
I would like to set up two DBs each in its own ORACLE_HOME running under ASM.
Software installation and ASM setup worked (after some trouble with the multipath storage / ASMLIB). Now I have three separate ORACLE_HOMEs:
    /ocfs/oracle/product/10.2/ASM,
    /ocfs/oracle/product/10.2/SEQ,
    /ocfs/oracle/product/10.2/RESNET.
I can connect to each of them using sqlplus. ASM is up and running.
Now I want ot set up an empty DB in SEQ and RESNET using dbca (or the scripts created by it, if need be).
This worked for SEQ but for RESNET I get ORA-12157 at the last step.
ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH, TNS_ADMIN were all set to point to RESNET. TEMP and TMPDIR are set to /tmp which has several GB free space.
In the trace file ($ORACLE_HOME/cfgtoollogs/dbca/trace.log) I find

My thoughts were along the line that the environment for user x not set up correctly but I verified ORACLE_SID & ORACLE_HOME prior to posting. This user's environment references TNS_ADMIN so I'm sending you the tnsnames.ora from that location.
Please note that I can execute this logged in as the db binary owner (environment set the same as user x).

  • Ora-03114 running a query with group by

Hi, I've a query with a group by on a sub-query, something like
    SELECT <40+ fields>
      FROM (SELECT <40+ fields>
              FROM table
GROUP BY <40+ fields> I don't have any problem running this query directly via toad. This query is a cursor in a procedure in a package and, if I invoke it on the same data, the session crash "with ora-03114 not connected to oracle". If I modify the query selecting less fields, 22, I don't have any problem while with 23 the crash appears.
Furthermore, I don't have any problem in other databases with similar data.
    The db version is 9.2.0.6.0 - 64bit
    Any idea/advice?

Edited by: 912104 on 3-feb-2012 4.02Are you retrieving the entire result set via toad? or just the first few records?
Are there any TOAD non-fetched column values in your result set, i.e. CLOBS, XMLTypes, nested types?
What does your code do with the cursor? Presumably you don't loop through it and do nothing. Are you sure it's the select that's causing the error, or something you are doing with the data in the procedure?
Can you not adding some instrumentation to your code so that you know exactly what line/data values are processed at the time of the crash? Does it always crash on the same values/line or does it vary?
"Furthermore, I don't have any problem in other databases with similar data." ... what do you mean by "similar data". You only need one odd value in one column to cause you a 3114 in the right circumstances. It seems like you are long way off establishing what exactly the problem is. It's always useful not to close doors to lines of thought. You need to systematically track down the root cause of the issue by exclusion and assumptions are the enemy of that process.

  • ORA-03113 and ORA-03114 problems

    Hi,
I'm experimenting Oracle8i. I'm installing 8.1.7 to RedHat Linux 7.0 out of box without recompiling the kernel. I set the SHMMAX to 0.5*258MB memory on the machine by echoing the number to /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax.
I checked that the system meets the requirements of Oracle's Installation Guide except SEMOPM. The RedHat Linux 7.0 sets it to 32, but Oracle requires 100.
I chose Oracle8i EE Typical Installation. The installation was ok to the point of running root.sh. Several syntax errors occur from root.sh. But they are minor syntax errors. I checked the code, regardless of errors, the scripts accomplished what it intends to do. The installation continued. I choose automatic configure Net8 when it ran Net8 Configuration Assistant and the Net8 Configuration was completed successful.
When it started Oracle Database Configuration Assistant, it created a database. But when it initialized the database, error messages ORA-03114 and ORA-03113 appeared many times. Each time, I chose to ignore. The final message was "Database creation completed with warnings."
    After installation, I ran svrmgrl
    $svrmgrl
    SVRMGR> connect INTERNAL
    Connected.
    SVRMGR> startup
    ORA-03113 end-of-file on communication channel
Checking the meaning of error messages, it says that if ORA-03113 occurs during a connection attempt, check the setup files for the appropriate Net8 driver and confirm Net8 software is correctly installed on the server.
During installation, I chose Local naming method. There are following files in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/
    listener.ora
    sqlnet.ora
    tnsnames.ora
    shrept.lst
To my layman's eye, they looked ok. I can even telnet to the linux machine with database name, although I don't know how the machine has acquired the alias without any changes to /etc/named.conf nor any changes to any files in /var/named directory.
Please tell me what is correctly installed Net8? or what went wrong and how I should fix the problem.
    Thanks,
    Wayne

I seem to have 8.1.7 creating a database with RH Linux 7.1 now. This was an important clue, since 7.1 hiccups 65% into the link phase of installation, thereby requiring the stubs patch to be run at that time, whereas 7.0 runs quite happily through the install & link without using the patch.
HOWEVER... before invoking dbassist to create the database under 7.1, you apparently need to export ASSUME_LD_LIBRARY = 2.2.5, etc., again, as you would do for the first time installing under RH 7.0.

I did finish all the unicode preconversion steps and also ran the SMIGR_CREATE_DDL program. I had exported recently from the same system but I never got this error during that run.
Another question is about the order in which the steps need to be performed. I completed the preconversion steps, then ran the SMIGR_CREATE_DDL program before proceeding to the export phase. Is this right or does it not matter?
    Thanks again for your help!

    Hello Stacy,
    > When I run the following command on /BIC/SZTERR_CD, I do not get any table information back. I am not sure how to fix it though.
    > SELECT * FROM DBA_OBJECTS WHERE OBJECT_NAME = '/BIC/SZTERR_CD ';
If the object does not exists on the source target database, please check if the ddic of sap still contains the table definition. (SE11 or SE14)
If yes you can set the status of the table /BIC/SZTERR_CD to "ok" in the corresponding task file.
You can not fix this problem in other way after you have started the conversion, because of the export files are already generated (with the information of the sap ddic)...
    > I completed the preconversion steps, then ran the SMIGR_CREATE_DDL program before proceeding to the export phase. Is this right or does it not matter?
    That was the right way.

    All,
It appears that the page Javascript maximum limit size was reached. The error stopped appearing after some of the page Javascript code was removed out to Application Static Files. I wonder if there exists any "direct" indicator by the system whenever the size limit has been reached?
Again, the run error only occurred when the page was loaded in "Debug" mode.

    damorgan,
He is running 8.1.7.0. "DataGuard" scripts were initially available for 9i and then
backported (and available as a seperate download) for 8i. Many 8i implementations
did not and do not use DataGuard.
Even if it is "Jurassic" {which it certainly is NOT}, they obviously do have a good
reason for setting up a standby -- they DO have data of value. So, maybe they have
not upgraded to 9i or 10g. There could be a dozen reasons
    1. Server HW/OS doesn't support 9i/10g, not budgetting for Server upgrade
    2. Application using Forms 2.x or 4.5 and not tested on 9i / 10g (4.5 not certified
    on 9i)
    3. Low end client PCs working perfectly with Character-mode forms, not powerful
enought to run Jinitiator and Forms 6i / 9i
Just because someone hasn't upgraded to 10g doesn't mean that they are at fault
when you do NOT know the reason why they have not upgraded.
Surely, they do know that 8i is desupported. Don't you think that their management
has undertaken due diligence / cost-benefit analysis in considering whether they
    should upgrade to 10g ?
Maybe they have another project implementing 10g in parallel and will be able
to shutdown this environment soon. Maybe they don't need to do so.
Do understand that people are intelligent enough to make their own decisions
considering their particular circumstances and don't go shooting off with your
assumption that anyone not running 10g is a dinosaur.

  • Oracle Fusion Middleware 11 - Failover - ORA-03114

We use Oracle Fusion Middleware 11.1.1.4 to run a Oracle Forms based application that connects to an Exadata - Oracle 11g 11.2.0.3  database.
In order to test the failover to Data Guard mechanism, we changed the tnsnames.ora to include the stanza for the data guard and disaster recovery databses.
However after changing the tnsnames.ora entry, the Fusion Forms refused to connect. It gave
    FRM-40735: ON-ERROR trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-03114
Present below is the tnsnames.ora entry .
The first one is the unmodified one that works(we can open up Oracle forms app and connect successfully to the database).
The second one is the modified one with the failover phrase that does not work - gives
ORA-03114. However the same entry as a jdbc connection string is working fine.
    Works :
    clientdb_oltp.world =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = client7-scan1)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVER = DEDICATED)
          (SERVICE_NAME = clientdb_oltp_srvc.world)
    Does NOT work:
    clientdb_oltp.world =
      (DESCRIPTION =
       (LOAD_BALANCE = OFF)
       (FAILOVER = ON)
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = client7-scan1)(PORT = 1521))
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = client3-scan01)(PORT = 1521))
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = client1-scan)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVER = DEDICATED)
          (SERVICE_NAME = clientdb_oltp_srvc.world)
          (FAILOVER_MODE =
            (TYPE = SELECT)
            (METHOD = BASIC))))
JDBC Connection string that works :
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION_LIST=(LOAD_BALANCE=off)(FAILOVER=on)(DESCRIPTION= (ADDRESS_LIST= (LOAD_BALANCE=on)(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST= client7-scan1)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER = DEDICATED) (SERVICE_NAME=clientdb_oltp_srvc.world)))(DESCRIPTION= (ADDRESS_LIST= (LOAD_BALANCE=on) (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=client3-scan01)(PORT=1521))) (CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER = DEDICATED) (SERVICE_NAME= clientdb_oltp_srvc.world))) (DESCRIPTION= (ADDRESS_LIST= (LOAD_BALANCE=on) (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=client1-scan)(PORT=1521))) (CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER = DEDICATED) (SERVICE_NAME=clientdb_oltp_srvc.world))))
Could you please advise if there is any reason why Oracle Fusion Middleware will not connect with the tnsnames.ora having the failover stanza ? Does the above entry require any change ?
We have already checked for any TAB or other non-print characters.
Edit : 6/3/2014  I mistakenly gave the Forms Oracle error as ORA-12154. The error faced is "FRM-40735: ON-ERROR trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-03114"
    Updated Title and description.
The credentials were validated multiple times. (user id and password is correct)

    Hi Prakash,
The database is up and running. We are able to login to it using sqlplus and other sql tools from different clients(sql client and java based programs).
We believe its either due to Oracle Middleware not supporting the tnsnames.ora entry with the failover stanza , or some quirk with our tnsnames.ora file.
Is there anything you would advise that we try ?
    Thank you,
    S. Krishnan

  • Frm-40735 when-button-pressed trigger raised unhandled  exception ora-03114

    hi everybody,
i am using oracle 10g release 2 in my test server and 10g release 1 in production server with forms in 10g running through the oracle 10g application server with no problem with our production server.
but the same form when i try to use through the same application server for my
with my test database server which is oracle 10g release 2 is giving me
frm exceptions and disconnecting the session.
like i get frm-40735 when-button-pressed trigger raised unhandled exception
ora-03114. then frm-40655 sql error forced rollback;clear form and reenter transaction. then when i try to exit it shows ora-24324 service handle not initialized.
The same thing when i try with my production server i dont get any exception handle error or forced rollback error.
i am not facing any problem as such to connect to my test database(release 2)
through sql plus client or TOAD OR ENTERPRISE MANAGER THEY ARE ALL FINE. IT IS ONLY WHEN I GO THROUGH THE APPLICATION SERVER TO ACCESS MY FORMS I GET THIS ERROR. BUT MY PRODUCTION IS RUNNING THE SAME WAY WITH NO ERRORS.
any suggestions welcome as i have to bring release 2 in the production next month
    thanks and regards
    manish

    ORA-03114 not connected to ORACLE
Cause: A call to Oracle was attempted when no connection was established. Usually this happens because a user-written program has not logged on. It may happen if communication trouble causes a disconnection. In addition, this message could occur when ALTER SYSTEM KILL SESSION or ALTER SYSTEM DISCONNECT SESSION were issued with the IMMEDIATE qualifier because, in those cases, the client's connection to the database is terminated without waiting for the client to issue a request.
Action: Try again. If the message recurs and the program is user written, check the program.

    Someone know about it ??
    Thanks

What went wrong during catalog and catproc ?
Did you run out of space ? In that case just enable autoextension on the system tablespace datafile[s] and re-run catalog & catproc. Check the logfiles.
