ORA-03121 when trying to connect to Access

Hello all,
maybe somebody can help: while trying to establish ODBC connection from Discoverer 3.1 to MS Access database I get an error:
"Failed to connect to Database ORA-03121: no
interface driver connected - function not performed "
I was using DNS created for Access and connect string like:
username/password@ODBC:DNSname
Regards,
Alex

Thanks for your reply.
But the funny thing on this compatibility issues is, that this configuration worked before. The only thing we did, was to setup the client-PC on a new hardware with also a new operating system (upgrading from Solaris 5.8 to 5.10). And from that time we encountered this problem.
Are there any OS-related problems known or better to say: is (was) ORACLE 7.1.3 supported on Solaris 5.10 ? Should we look for any patches which might help us ?

  • ORA-12705 when trying to connect to database

I am trying to install SQL Developer on a user PC in my company, but when the user tries to connect to a database he gets the following error message:
An error was encountered performing the requested operation:
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified
0604. 00000 - "error occurred at recursive SQL level %s"
*Cause:  An error occurred while processing a recursive SQL statement
(a statement applying to internal dictionary tables).
*Action:  If situation described in the next error on the stack
can be corrected, do so; otherwise contact Oracle Support.
    Vendor code 604
I have tried searching this forum and the rest of the web for this error, and I have tried all the tips that I have found, but nothing seems to work for me, I get the same error message every time. Most of the tips have been centered around the NLS_LANG parameter. Does anybody have a suggestion?

I have already seen this document and tried it out, but it didn't work. And I have tried out numerous other tips that I have found in different places on the web.
Is the client installation of any relevance? I notice that this user has a different installation from the one that I have, and that he amongst other things doesn't have sql plus installed.

    Hi Nitin
Thanks for the helpful! With your point I'm now Pro! Great thanks.
By the way have your seen that?
Files such as LISTENER.ORA, TNSNAMES.ORA, SQLNET.ORA, if configured manually, or copied and edited from earlier releases of Oracle Database may have record attributes that are incompatible with Oracle Database 10g release 2. The software cannot read such files. The required record format is stream_lf and the record attributes are carriage_control and carriage_return.
    This may result in:
    Inability to start the listener
Services not registered with the listener
Inability to connect to other databases
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name
Run the following command on each file affected:
    $ DIR/FULL filename
An output similar to the following may be displayed:
Record format: Variable length, maximum 255 bytes
Record attributes: Carriage return carriage control
If the output includes the preceding entries, then run the following command:
    $ CONVERT/FDL=SYS$INPUT filename filename
    RECORD
    CARRIAGE_CONTROL CARRIAGE_RETURN
    FORMAT STREAM_LF
    ^Z
Otherwise herewith an interesting metalink note. Doc ID:      Note:437597.1

Hope this will also help you...

  • Ora-24367 when trying to connect by dblink to SqlServer

    Hello,
I know that it is OCI forum but i hope that someone could me help with error
ora- 24367 which cause and action is below :
Cause: This occurs during authentication of a migratable user. the service handle has not been set with non-migratable user handle.
Action: Service handle must be set with non-migratable user handle when it is used to authenticate a migratable user.
I would like to connect to Sql Server database from Oracle through shared dblink created with this command :
CREATE shared public DATABASE LINK apost_shared1
CONNECT TO cbd_test IDENTIFIED BY cbd_testt
AUTHENTICATED BY cbd_test IDENTIFIED BY cbd_testt
    USING 'post';
I use ODBC connectivity to Sql Server joined with oracle connectivity (tnsnames, listener).
When i try to select table in remote db i get ora-24367 error. could you explain me what is happening ? I don't know what cause and action means. I'm not OCI programmer. Maybe someone who knows OCI could explain me how all works ?

  • After installing MAWI error ORA-01031 when trying to connect as sysdba

    I've installed mawi 2.18 on a brand new 10.2.0.5 ORACLE_HOME.
After installing the patch i cannot connect anymore to the database as sysdba: the error i got is:
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
If i unset TWO_TASK (as stated in mawi install procedure) and replace it by ORACLE_SID it works.
What's the correct setup to handle both sysdba connection and MAWI setup ?
    thanks
    Chris

You could create two seperate env files. The EOF.env for TWO_TASK access and then another env file of yoru choice for SYSDBA access replacing TWO_TASK with ORACLE_SID and depending on whether you are using sysdba access or regular MW access you would execute the correct env file. I would also place the SYSDBA env file in the actual ORACLE_HOME directory.

  • Error ORA-12537 when trying to connect

I'm getting an 'ORA-12537 TNS:connection closed' error when connecting to the database (8.1.7 on Win2k). The problem persists even after restarting both, listener and database-service. I cannot even connect as SYSDBA. How can i solve this problem?

Seems like it may be a problem with Oracle on Windows and Firewalls. Check that your firewall software/hardware is able to proccess SQL*NET requests.
Try to open all the ports based on IP address and see if that works.

You can run the net8 assistant to set up your tnsnames.ora file.
    start/programs/oracle/network administration/net8 assistant
When you are done it should look something like this:

         (Host = )

  • Getting error 789 when trying to connect with a PC remotely via VPN

When we set up the VPN we are getting a Error 789 when trying to connect with a PC. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The utilities, provided on the CD, are not required for the PC to access the Internet through the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn). They are only necessary for administering the base station.
If your PC is currently configured as a DHCP client, it shouldn't have any issues connecting by Ethernet. The AEBSn will assign the appropriate IP addresses required for connectivity to the Internet ... just like it does for wireless clients.

    Hi Ingo,
I do not get any error while using the Universe Designer, I get this error when trying to connect a SAP BW related universe in Crystal Reports. There is no problem at all with WebIntelligence by the way. It is possible to connect a SAP BW related universe in WebIntelligence.
I use BO XI 3.0 with Crystal Reports 2008 and the SAP Integrations Kit client components are installed on the client machine.
Nevertheless the BO Enterprise system is not configured with SAP Authentification, but with an own authentification.
