ORA-06502 and ORA-06503 if more than 3700 rows

In a simple application one of the two tables has about 10.000 rows. If I limit the "Max Row Count" to 3700 the "select list" will be generated without error
("row(s) 1-17 of more than 3700").
With "Max Row Count" 3710 and 3720 an ORA-06502, with "Max Row Count" 3730 an ORA-06503 occur and no select list will appear.
Other values greater 3710 e.g. 4000 don't cause any Oracle error but no select list was built.
It seems to be that the value limit will be exeeded in cases where the row count is greater than 3700.

Joachim,
Select lists are limited to 32,000 characters. This includes the select and option tags and all the display and return values. Depending on your pagination settings, specifically on the number of rows you display on each page, this translates into around 4000 rows being supported by this particular pagination style. If you have more rows then that, I'd recommend using a different pagination style, one that does not show a select list.

Marc

  • 4.0 ORA-06502 and ORA-01722 in different languages

    Hi!
    After 4.0 installation on my XE-database there are some errors - dependig on which language is actual.
    german language is actual:
    home > administration > dashboard:
    every report results ORA-01722
    english language is actual:
    home:

    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error ORA-06512: at "APEX_040000.WWV_FLOW_4000_UI", line 731 ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character to number conversion error
    Is there any idea about what is wrong?
    Kind regards,
    Andrea

    Hi Andrea,
    I see similar errors on my instance. I updated to 4.0.1 and saw some of them disappear, but a few of them are still there. Even reinstalling 4.0.1 from scratch did not change anything about this.
    Apparently the de-translation has some gaps, e.g. the title for the worspace administration is
    "Workspace &COMPANY verwalten." where &COMPANY should be the workspacename, or the confirmation message when deleting an application, which says "Anwendung &F4000_P20_FLOW_ID wurde gelöscht.". Both messages appear with the correct substitution value as soon as I switch the language to English.
    What made me wonder at first wass that both dashboards for "Top Applications" and "Top Users" worked in German, but threw erros in the English version. Without changing anything in my system they "started" working later, so I guess there was a problem with the proper initialization for those reports.
    I still have a complete set of ORA-01722 in the German version of the activity dashboard, which works better in English:
    Top Users, Top Applications and Top Pages say "Report contains no data", which is better than ORA-01722. Recent Logins shows correct results, Recent errors gives me the 01722-errors I produced before.
    Does anyone else have these problems? Or does anyone have a solution for them?

    My Mapping is a fact recording enrolments in courses (located in my main target database - oracle 9i)
    joining with an equi-join to a table that contains an audit of all changes to the enrolment (in my source database - Sybase 12.5)
    then updating two fields in a tabke that is a second definition of the first fact
    The equi join uses the key to the enrolment table, plus a transaction type to identify only the creation of the record
    Between the join and the update of the table one field is going thru a trim (converting char to varchar2) then an expression that sets the value to "not_supplied" for cases where the value was null.
    The other field is a date (from sybase datetime to oracle Date)
    (they are the user that created the enrolment and the date the enrolment was actioned)
    I created this mapping by copying another mapping that does pretty much the same thing, deleting the join and table it was joining to and adding the audit table and new join.
    Both mapping deploy fine with no warnings, the original executes fine the variation gives the errors above.
    I have tried removing one then the other of the columns I am updating. (the same errors occur)
    I am about to re-write the mapping from scratch, but can anyone guess what is wrong with it ? (I'm using OWB 9.2.0.2.8)

    Thanks for the suggestion
    There are no "char(32767)"s in the package - altho there are "varchar2(32767)"s
    I have tried a variotion on the script, outputting the result to a new table instead of updating the enrolment - which ran fine so the error is in the update.
    I tried adding a step using the result in the temp table to update the enrolment table - and got my errors again. So there is something funny in my data. Nothing obvious shows.
    The full temp table contains 745292 records - when it failed 150 records had been written.
    I note that although I had expected only to find one record per enrolment, there are some where there are two (@#$%!! source system writing two "insert" audit records) - could my problem be that I am updating a record previously updated - where do I set the script to commit as it goes?

    Another way, not waterproof too relay on rowid, but in your case it could work.
    You have to verify it by yourself
    update test_a aa

    ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one row

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!
    Whenever you have a question, please post some sample data, so that people can re-create the problem and test their solutions.
    CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, like the ones below, are great:
    CREATE TABLE      baemployee
    (     employee     NUMBER (4)
    ,     stock_nbr     VARCHAR2 (10)
    INSERT INTO baemployee (employee, stock_nbr) VALUES (1234, 'FUBAR');
    CREATE TABLE     employee
    (     employee     NUMBER (4)
    ,     emp_status     VARCHAR2 (10)
    INSERT INTO employee (employee, emp_status) VALUES (1234, 'ACTIVE');CREATE TABLE AS is good, too:
    CREATE TABLE     emp_check_dig
    AS          SELECT  1234 AS employee, 'AA1234567890ZZZ' AS check_digit     FROM dual
    UNION ALL     SELECT  1234,            'AA2121212121ZZZ'               FROM dual
    ;Also post the results you want from that data. In this case, the results would be the contents of the baemployee table after you run the UPDATE.
    Would you want:
    employee  stock_nbr
    1234       1234567890or would you want
    employee  stock_nbr
    1234       2121212121If you run the UPDATE statement you posted with the data above, you'll get the "ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one row" error, and you can see what causes it: there is more than one row from emp_check_dig that could be used to UPDATE the same row of baemployee. Say what you want to do in this situation (and why), and someone will help you find a way to do it.

  • ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one row -- no solution

    Hello to all:
    I have to tables:
    Table a anwender (Email,Dept). --> all fields are filled
    Table b dingo (Name,email,dept) --> all fields are filled
    I now want to update the table a with the data from table b:
    update anwender a set a.abteilung = ( select distinct b.abteilung from dingo b where b.email = a.email);
    Then I got the error: ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one row
    Every dept is about 100x in the database, so it is clear that i got more than one row back. But how can I update the table now?

    Okay, I got several duplicates, and I deletet a lot of data in my database.
    Now I want to remove all entries with more than one departments per mail adresses.
    a
    select email,count(abteilung) from dingo group by email having count(abteilung)>1 order by count(abteilung)
    shows me all the fake mailadresses.
    But a
    delete from dingo where email in (select email,count(abteilung) from dingo group by email having count(abteilung)>1 order by count(abteilung) );
    gives me a
    SQL Error: ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis
    I´m very confused now ...
    Oops, now I got the solution:

    Regards,
    Alex

    Daniel,
    I created the spatial index in 2d, but if I collect stats on all tables the optimizer doesn't use the spatial index.
    I tried to influence the optimizer using hints, but it seems to ignore the hint clause. The query I did is above:
    SELECT /*+ INDEX(lot_geom G_GEOMETRY_0_SI) INDEX(ped_geom G_GEOMETRY_0_SI) */
         lot_f.lot_id id,
    ROUND(MDSYS.SDO_GEOM.SDO_DISTANCE(lot_geom.geometry, ped_geom.geometry, 0.5),2) dist
    FROM lot_f,
    pedestal_f,
    G_GEOMETRY_0 lot_geom,
    G_GEOMETRY_0 ped_geom
    WHERE lot_f.feat_num = lot_geom.feat_num
    AND pedestal_f.acc_point_id = 611
    AND pedestal_f.feat_num = ped_geom.feat_num
    AND lot_f.g_version+0 = 0
    AND (lot_f.g_next_version > 0 OR lot_f.g_next_version IS NULL)
    AND pedestal_f.g_version+0 = 0
    AND (pedestal_f.g_next_version > 0 OR pedestal_f.g_next_version IS NULL)
    AND MDSYS.SDO_WITHIN_DISTANCE(lot_geom.geometry, ped_geom.geometry,
    'distance = 100' ) = 'TRUE';
    So I "forced" a plan that uses the spatial indexes deleting the statistics from the tables that have geometry columns. The execution plan looks like this:
    Execution Plan
    0 SELECT STATEMENT Optimizer=CHOOSE (Cost=2652 Card=10182 Bytes=79969428)

    Collecting stats on geometry tables makes the query work only because it doesn't use the spatial index.
    I took a look the trace file, but I didn't see any interesting information. I can send you if you want.
    Do you have any clue?

  • ORA-1403 and ORA-20505 updating the PK in the form

    I have a application based on one table and the primary key is the column NAME , every think was running ok , but now I am getting the error ORA-20505 and ORA-1403 when I edit a row and change the value for NAME ( still unique ) and click in apply the changes botton.
    the table has only one row , this should be simple, I can insert ant update in sqlplus.
    Thanks.

    user459480,
    Rather than trying to work around this I suggest you add a non-update-able primary key column and then put a unique constraint on the name column. The application is using the value of the PK column "name" to find the record and now you are going around and changing it. No wonder it gives you a 1403 which means "I can't find what you told me to go get".
    You might get over this hump but there will be more and bigger humps ahead if you continue down this path. Adding a number type column as a pk with a sequence and trigger is a small price to pay for the stability of a real primary key (ie immutable).

  • ORA-01180 and ORA-01110 error when restoring database by RMAN in 11.1.0.6.0

    I have a new installed database running in ARCIHVELOG mode on SUSE 10SP3. Catalog is not used. When I try to restore the database from a level 0 backup based on SCN, ORA-01180 and ORA-01110 were raised out today. Please help me through this. Thx. The senario follows:
    1. I got the current SCN by "select dbms_flashback.get_system_change_number from dual". Say it's 12345;
    2. I did a level 0 hot backup with current control file, archived logs and parameter files. Everything went well;
    3. Some other DMLs are applied to the database;
    4. I want to do a SCN-based incomplete recovery for this database to SCN 12345. Then I
    1) shutdown immediate;
    2) startup nomount;
    3) restore the control file from backupset;
    5) startup mount;
    6) catalog start with "[backupset path]";
    7) restore database until scn 12345.
    Just at step 4.7, ORA-01180 and ORA-01110 were raised out, saying cannot create data file 1. Note: Backup files are existing and file permissions are all OK.
    Then I issues "list incarnation of database". There is just one record with incarnation id 1.
    So I queried v$log_history, found serveral record there. The most recent one has NEXT_SCN later than 12345, say 12400. Then I tried to restore database until this SCN. It WORKED! The restore and recovery succeeded.
    My questions are:
    1. Why cannot I restore the database to a previous SCN, say 12345, but 12400 is OK?.
    2. If the database was RESETLOG prior to my recovery, should I reset database to the incarnation where I took my backup? What can I do if there is no that incarnation information in my control file?
    Waiting for your suggestion.

    Hi guys. There is one update.
    This issue is caused by the incorrect SCN vs. backup set. I got this SCN before the backup started. According to Oracle docs, it's not allowed for an SCN based recovery.
    Now, I changed the sequence of my operations, so that SCN is got once backup is done, which is exact the "most recent sequence# and least SCN" mentioned by some thread in this forum. It works now.
    Anyone could explain why the SCN got prior to the level 0 backup is not recognized by restore/recovery phase? Thanks.

    ORA-01460 and ORA-02063 are known bugs in the new ODP but would like to know if there is any Work around/Alternate solution for this problem(other than
    the use of stored procs)..

    oRdr = Valid_FieldData_Command.ExecuteReader(); ->Error occurs here
    The error occurs whenever the length of any of the parameter is increased. But there is no specific length where it is breaking down.
    For example in this case, it breaks down with the given error if
    agencyID > 8
    agencyName > 6
    fieldNumber > 9
    uniqueid > 6

    The problem was mapping input parameter type.
    VARCHAR2-type mapping input parameter works with String-type PF parameter. But CHAR-type won't.
