ORA-06502 behaves different way in 10g forms and 6i

If To_Number(Figc1) <> 0 Then
Figword := CVT(Figc1);
Figword := Figword || 'MILLION ';
End if;
This is a code from Report Builder 6 procedure . Here Figc1 variable contains three spaces ' ' . but it does not fire any exception when it converts to number. But when i run this in 10g application server. it throws 06502 error message..
I have alot of RDF files which i migrated from 6i to 10g. many reports containing same code . So do i have to change all reports or please let me know whats the reason of this error message.....

Well as said I would consider this as a bug you introduced which needs to be corrected wheter this worked previously or not. A string containing blanks and a number is a string with blanks and a number, not a number. At least in my book. If you have many reports containing such constructs you could convert them to a XML file with rwconverter, change your code in batch by a program written in whateverelse and convert it back to a .rdf file afterwards. This would be my preferred solution as changing the environment would only affect your server, there is no guarantee that after some time you'd need to setup another one, and what exactly was the setting which needed to be made to get your reports running...? Let alone what happens when migrating to 11g as you might hit the same problem which isn't corrected by your hack in newer versions.
This is what I'd do, maybe someone else has a better idea.
cheers

  • 10g Forms and reports standalone - 64 bit software available?

    Hi All,
Is oracle application server 10g forms and reports standalone softaware available in 64-bit version?
Please provide the link to download thye same.
    Thanks,
    Anand.

1GB of RAM seems to work better. I just upgraded to 1GB from 512MB on a new ThinkPad running XP, 10g release 2 database, and 10.1.2 Application Server (Forms and Reports version). When I had 512, something broke and I wound up resetting the factory defaults using the IBM recovery tool. When I added the extra memory, everything went well. On the other hand, a four-year-old Dell desktop with 512MB works okay. Whatever.

I want to install Oracle Application Server 10g Forms and Reports Services. What must I download? The installation guide says that "Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4) Forms and Reports Services allows you to install and configure Forms and Reports Services without the need to install and configure all of Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4)" but it does not clearly state what exactly to download.

  • Installing Oracle 10g Forms and Reports in Cluster Mode

    Dear All,
My OS version is RHEL 4
In our current setup we have oracle 10g database two node  cluster and Application Server 10g to node cluster.
Currently our report server has been configured to run in standalone mode
I have been asked to configure oracle 10g forms and report server in cluster mode.
Please provide me with the documentation link to configure oracle 10g reports server in cluster mode.
    Thanks and Regards

my main goal is load balancing only
Then what I've done in 2007 might be what you need. In that thread there is a link to Web Cache Administrator's Guide : there you'll find everything you need to configure the web cache as a load balancer, particularly chapter 8 Setup and Configuration.
Anyway, here briefly some configurations : we have two machines, say MachineA and MachineB. The DNS resolves MachineA to a virtual address, which is normally assigned to MachineA; if MachineA crashes, it gets assigned to MachineB.
Users URL looks like this : http://MachineA:<port>/forms/frmservlet?config=<some config>
MachineA's web cache distributes connection requests between MachineA and MachineB.
Of course we're now using 11g as well, but that's another thing.

Is it really so hard for you to find the installation guide?

For the Developer Suite you don't need the App Server. You need the App Server for production.

  • CONNECTING ORACLE 9I OR 10G DATABASE WITH ORACLE 10G FORMS AND REPORTS

pls tell how to connect oracle 9i or 10g database with oracle developer suite 10g . though the forms are getting connected but not running with error as
FRM-10142 the HTTP listner is not running on pls start the listner or check your runtime preferences.
now pls tell how to start listner and how to chage runtime preferences.
though i have worked with oracle 9i and forms 6i where we used to copy the tnsnames.ora from network/admin of oracle to forms 6i tnsnames.ora.
thank you, you may be thinking such a long question.....

    sir
By server i mean the computer where oc4j and backend database are running is one one of the client pc not a dedicated server..., these database and 10g dev suite are installed in one of the client machine,
all the clients are using same internet explorer as browser.
no message is being displyed on some of the client machine where these forms are not being uploaded on browser instead it displays as done in status bar without actually showing anything at all...
sir so far as jinitiator or JRE is concered i have seen on the client machine (where my forms are running on internet explorer) a pop up is displyed telling one activex control is required to run this program and click to install it..
after clicking it download jinitiator from server and after installing jinitiator my forms are loaded and start functioning...
what i feel is as i said this machine where oc4j and database is running is one of the client machine so some other clients do not have acess to this machine, so this might be the reason why those clints are not able to run the said forms on the internet explorer.... can it be so... kindly tell..
thank you for your patience for reading the question

  • URL Problem Oracle 10g Forms and Reports

    Hello Room,
As this question is related to forms and reports both, I have posted it here. I have a system which needs to be deployed in Local Lan Network and also the same Local Lan user should be able to access the same application via internet. In Addition there are also suppliers, customers who dosen't have oracle installed but will be accessing forms and reports via the url through internet which will be a natted url to our public IP. I have loaded Oracle 11g on windows 7 and all my network clients are on windows 7. I have not loaded forms and reports 10g on server, but only database 11g is installed on server. My problem is listed in points below:-
    1. Do I need to install forms and reports on server to achieve the above scenario ? or the local network installation of forms and reports on all client PC's will do ?
    2. To start OC4J instance, shall i start it only on server through batch file while booting server, or it needs to be started on all client PC's to start work from client end ?
    3. When i run forms from my client PC I get local url http://127.0.0.1/ to reach forms servlet which end up in http://localpc/.... from cookie redirect, whether this needs to be http://server/...... on all client PC's to reach the forms servlet ?
    4. If I have to start url http://server/ instead of http://127.0.0.1/... automatically while running every form to reach forms servlet, how to achieve this ?
    5. There are reports to be run from forms and parameters needs to be passed in reports from forms 10g. So in web.show_document shall i refer to absolute url for local acccess or http://server url as the same user can go to internet to access the data. ?
    6. if I load forms and reports 10g on server, do I need to install forms and reports on client end seperately to gain access in local network ?
    7. My forms and reports folders are located on server which are shared for access.
    8. What will be the scenario in case of suppliers and customers who does not have anything installed on their PC and will access forms and reports through internet ?
I want to minimize my work. Please suggest me how to proceed about accessing forms, passing url from forms to reports in web.show_document, and Internet access url ?
Your help is highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I have tried to explain you in decent way several times that I am not lazy and there are reasons that I do not want to read pdf, because I have already read that all ! In the future please do not respond to my thread. I am not asking for your personal time. If you do not understand my efforts. Just ignore it. I have read all the white papers of Oracle and give me your email id, I will send you all the code which I have read or downloaded. You should know that the knowledge diminish as the technology change. And that does not mean every user in the forum is stupid and as wise as you are. I repeat to state that I have 15 years of experience in Oracle forms 6i._ including Oracle 7,8,9i. This is the first time I am ever visiting oracle forums since past several years. I was the first person to use oracle 7 in my city where people were not knowing what oracle is. At that time I was knowing that the password for scott is tiger which even the reputed institutes in my city was not knowing. at that time I was also knowing that one of the person from oracle made a mistake in indexing the rowid. I think this should be enough to you for now.

  • OAS 10G Forms and Reports Forms - Removing old sessions

I am currently running Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 Forms and Reports Services Install. The problem that I am experiencing is that some users don't log out of our application and after 8 hours of inactivity our DB logs the users out of Oracle. This leaves forms sessions attached to the application server. Is there a way that I can remove these connections without having to manually log into Enterprise manager and disconnect them? I was hoping to be able to run a script at night and disconnect all sessions that have been connected for x number of hours or better yet find an option that I can configure in my forms setup to limit connect_time to a certain length of time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you modfied the timeout parameter ? This will help to exit the application when there is no activity

  • How to run Net Configuration Assistant on 10g Forms and Reports server

I have a Windows 2000 server with Forms and Reports Services installed from AS 10g v. 9.0.4 (just the Forms and Reports install). According to the OUI, Net Configuration Assistant 9.0.4 is also installed. However I cannot figure out how to run the Net CA. There is no shorcut that I can find. Can anyone help?

Thanks for the reply Frank. I have looked all through the Start menu but see no "Configuration and Migration". I assume it's because I only installed the Forms and Reports option, so I only have Forms Services, Reports Services, and the Universal Installer. No big deal - I've already setup tnsnames manually. I just like to use the Net Assistant when I can.

  • 10g forms and reports services

    hi,
one of our small scale customer is asking for the program in 10g forms. the requirement is only to run forms and reprot against the database, (no signle sign on, internet dir etc). the question is
1.) do he require forms & reports services to run the forms ? (stand alone or something like that). Ff Yes is it possible to purchase that alone. without other AS components..?
    thanks in Adv.
    Kris

    Hi Kris,
My understanding is that you will require Forms and Reports services to enable your client to run the application from a server. These can be purchased seperately up to 10g R2 - but I'm not sure about the latest versions...

  • 10g Forms and Reports Stand-Alone Install for Demo Purposes

    Hi,
My boss asked me to set-up an Oracle 9i (9.2.0.0) database and OracleAS 10g (9.0.4) Forms and Reports standalone on a laptop she wants to use to demonstrate our Forms and Reports application for a potential customer.
The laptop is P4 with 512MB RAM, running Windows 2K Pro.
Has anyone tried this before? Any suggestions appreciated.

  • Government CAC (Smart Cards) interface to Oracle 10g Forms and Reports

Am working an Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports (10g) WEB applications for an Air Force customer. They are wanting to use Smart Cards (CAC) to log onto their PCs and do not want to have to enter logon and passsword to enter my Oracle WEB appliaction.
Has anyone or does anyone know of a government customer that has an Oracle forms and reports application that does not require a login and password, but uses the CAC card information to connect? If so can you please provide name of organization and contact information. thanks [email protected]

    Hi,
I have been researching a CAC card solution for a DOD customer.
We plan (hope) to authenticate users against their Active Directory accounts using Oracle Internet Directory and Single Sign-on Server. Active directory reads the CAC card, and Oracle verifies they are authenticated in Active Directory.
Oracle Windows Native Authentication (WNA) may be what you're looking for.
Here's an OBE on enabling WNA:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_as_10g/im/wna/wna.htm
Chapter 43 of the Oracle Internet Directory (9.0.4) guide discusses integration with Windows Active Directory:
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10464_05/manage.904/b12118/odip_act.htm#127412
If you haven't already done it, search these forums for "CAC". You'll find other posts from people who have implemented CAC authentication in their Oracle products.
    Good luck!
    Jim
