ORA-12560 on win server 2008 R2
I have an oracle DB 11.2 running on win server 2008..
I can connect to a DB, but when I need to make some changes locally, it's not possible.
so:
- the DB and listener are running as a local system account
- I'm loggin into as a local admin (Administrator/pwd)..
- ORACLE_SID has been set in Control Panel --> system (for all users)
- tnsping locally is running OK
- lsnrctl status LISTENER returns no error
- sqlnet.ora has been set:
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES)
- there are no remote_listeners
pls, help :)

Can I move a Virtual Domain Controller from one host(Win Server 2008 R2) to another (Win Server 2012 R2) ? Are there any issues?
I also had this error: "Setup cannot continue. Your computer will now restart, and your previous version of Windows will be restored."
trying to do a in-place upgrade of a Domain Controller Windows 2008 R2 to Windows 2012 R2.
The problem was the separated System Reserved Partition. After I removed using this instructions:

The upgrade ran ok, and now have my DC as Windows 2012 R2.

Pleae help me: I want to install oracle developer on win server 2008
please help me i am try to install oracle developer 10g on win server 2008 but failed because the version of operating system not 5 or 5.1 or 5.2 and it is 6
so i want to install oracle developer 11g on win server 2008 but i am not found oracle developer 11g to download it
please any one help me to solve this problem or help me to find oracle developer 11g
Thank youOracle Developler 11g is now called Oracle Fusion Middleware (FMw) 11g and can be downloaded from the Oracle Fusion Middleware Downloads page. You have to download and install WebLogic Server (WLS) 10.3.3 first, then scroll down and download and install Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer (11.1.1.3.0).
When you install WLS, make sure you do not run the configuration step. When you install FMw, it will configure the WLS as part of it's configuration step.
Hope this helps,

Hi.
How to disable ''set as background'' from right click in internet explorer 8,9,10,11 by GPO in Win Serv 2008 R2.
People in my domain can set their background by right click in the pics on their IE, I enabled by GPO a wallpaper by default in ''Administrative Templates > Desktop > Desktop > Desktop Wallpaper'' and I enable too the ''Administrative Templates
> Control Panel > Personalization > Prevent changing desktop background'' at login people have the corporative Desktop but they can change by IE. What can I do? thanks.
<u5:p></u5:p>Hi,
I test this issue, actually, in IE 11, the option "set as backgroud" is grayed out after I applied policy Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization > Prevent changing desktop background, but seems not suitable for
other versions of IE.
You can try other solutions listed in the similiar thread

Bootcamp Win Server 2008 x64 - No network
I have no networking either wired or wireless with Bootcamp and Windows Server 2008 x64.
I've repaired the drivers from the bootcamp partition on the OSX disk - no change, and uninstalled the device drivers for the ethernet controllers and the Broadcom Wireless 802.11n device in Device Manager, rebooted, windows wasn't able to install the drivers.
Does anyone know where I can download the x64 drivers, for the Broadcom Wireless 802.11n
Both the wired and wireless work Ok under OSX with all updates installed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

MacPro 2 x 2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi Card-INTI had the same problem but I came up with a solution. Since I was following some instructions on using Win server 2008 as a workstation I saw that it mentioned downloading Everest Ultimate Edition (trial version worked) to find out what the hard ware was that needed a driver. When I did this I saw that the network device was listed as a Intel 82574L. After finding the name of the hardware I went to "computer management" and clicked on "device manager." From there I double clicked on the network device, clicked on the reinstall driver; from there browse for driver software & let me pick from a list. Select network adapters - intel - and then on the Intel 82574L. Once it installed the network came right up. Hope that helps you out & good luck!

Could someone confirm if Win 2008 Server is supported with the IR6 release? I was on a webinar yesterday about ZESM and I asked the same question and was told that Win 2008 Server was supported. However, I cannot see any such reference when lookiing on Novell's site about ZESM.
Thank you in advance for any replies.

Hey there.
At this time, Win2K8 is not a supported platform in IR6. Also, Win2K/SQL2K support were removed from IR6.
Sorry for the delay.

While I had not tried to install IR6 on Win2K8, I remember some conversations about support being dropped for SQL2K, and Win2K8 being added in IR6.
However, the website and documentation seem to not reflect those changes.
The Readme for IR6 still mentions that Win2K8 is not supported:
http://www.novell.com/documentation/...5.html#bcxgf96
I will try to confirm that internally and give back and answer.

CR2008 on Win Server 2008 - some fonts duplicate letters!
Hi,
We recently moved a .NET web app (VS 2008) using CR 2008 from a Win Server 2003 machine to Win Server 2008. We installed the CR2008 SP2 runtime. To get our app working, we had to make the IIS App pool run in 32 bit (WOW) mode since there is no 64 bit runtime for CR2008 (I trust there is going to be one in CR2010???!!). Our app outputs reports as pdf files which it saves on the server for users to download.
The reports are being produced, but certain letters in certain fonts are being doubled up, or have other letters inserted after them. For example, our reports use Palatino Linetype in text boxes and in this font every letter 't' is duplicated!! Another font I tried (can't remember which) inserted an 'h' after every 't'. The only font I could find which worked ok was Arial, which is not ideal. Has anyone seen this, or have any idea what's going on?
MichaelHi, Michael;
Try using a different printer driver on that system.
Also, if you run the report in the Crystal Reports Designer, and export it to PDF, do you get the same results?

THHi Tomas,
To view custom properties in Office 2010:
1. Click the File tab.
2. Click Info.
3. Click Properties, and then select Advanced Properties
4. Click the Custom tab

HP T410 AIO and Win Server 2008 R2 Standard
Hi
I am trying to connect some HP t410 AIO thin client to a Win Server 2008 R2 Standad edition server. I added the Remote Desktop Services and Web SErver(IIS) as roles on the server. The goal is to be able to connect to the Server using the Web
Brower connection type available on the HP t410 AIO thin client I understand that to connect more that two clients to the server you need to obtain RDS CALs, We contacted a MS parter to purchase the CALs and received a ling to download the CALs, but
none of the items in the link seem to be what I think we need. The page has about 17 items MS application Virtualixation for RDS, MS Appication Virtualization Hosting for Desktpos and one entry for Win Remote Desktop Srvcs CAL 4.5 wSP1. Questio :
What is the correct name of the CALs that I need to install on the server?
How do I configure the server to accect the Web Browser type connection from the thin client?
Currently I can connect to the server using a RDP 7 connection and logging in as Administrator. When I try to log in with a user created under AD, I get a response complaining that " to log on to this remote computer, you must be granted the Allow
log on through Terminal Services right." Where do I configure that? ThanksHi,
You can refer to the following guides to setup RDSH and RDWA.

Deploying Remote Desktop Web Access with Remote Desktop Connection Broker Step-by-Step Guide

Regarding how to install RDS CALs, you can refer to:

Environment:
Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 as DC
2 Domain administrator accounts: the built-in Administrator and a manually created which belongs to the Administrator group
Problem Description:
When I logged into the server using the Administrator account, I can't open any administration/management Windows application such as:
Command Prompt
Computer Management
Any application located in Administrative Tools
A popup called "Restrictions" appears with the message "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator". I am the system administrator and I've
no clue about this issue!
Besides, there's no "Run..." option in the Start Menu and you
can't access to any network path (i.e \\IP_Address) from Windows Explorer: you receive the error message "Accessing to the resource '\\IP_Address' has been disallowed".
Prior To The Problem:
I did the following actions:
Managed some AD users, groups and OU by moving, editing or deleting.
Managed some shared folders on D drive by deleting the folder or changing some Security rights.
I HAVEN'T TOUCHED ANYTHING RELATED TO GPO!
Prior to these actions, everything was fine and I never received these error messages.
What I Did So Far:
The only thing I did is that I reset the settings of Internet Explorer in the Advanced tab and restarted the server. Unfortunately, it didn't change anything. I didn't know what to do else and I can't seem to find a similar situation as mine. Surely, there
are many posts related to this error message, but none of them implies the denial of access to every administrative Windows application with the Administrator account.
Therefore, I'm really seeking the help of the community to tackle this weird and annoying issue.
Thanks in advance.Even if you do changes in Internet explorer settings it does not give any login/access problems in a server.
Since it is a DC local administrator account won't be available unless and otherwise you enable option "Logon locally" So use domain admin account for accessing DC resources like CMD prompt, AD tools.
"Run" is hidden in Windows server 2008 , you have to search in
start or Use Win Key+R.
So, check above two steps and access UNC paths

I have recently updated Adobe Reader to the latest patch update 10.0.1.
Previous to this update, I was able to open multiple pdfs at once and had no issues with the Adobe Reader software. After updating to 10.0.1 I've noted that when I attempt to open more than one pdf at a time, Reader hangs (Windows indicates a "Not Responding" error has occurred). After a series of minutes, the second (or third, fourth etc) file opens, and Reader appears to function as per normal..
I'm running Adobe Reader 10.0.1 on a Windows Server 2008 x64 (SP2) box, and didn't have this issue with the 10.0.0 release..
Does anyone else share this issue, and if so, is there an update planned to solve the issue? I would also be happy to provide more diagnostics/specs if these will provide info for developers to chase down the issue here..I also have Reader 10.0.1 (Win 7 Home Premium x32). I can open several large PDFs (including one over 100 MiB) satisfactorily and then have the whole thing hang. As I am trying to work with these documents, I have not been patient enough to wait for minutes. I just have to terminate Reader and relaunch it.
I have removed some of my DLLs to stop Reader wasting my time preparing a long document for reading, which I do not need . (It would really help if Adobe would provide a setting to turn this off, instead of my having to hack it. )
I never had any similar problems with Reader 9. Did anyone test Reader X before releasing it? I have read elsewhere that turning Protected Mode off may help but...
