What does your own research of 'ORA-00205' indicate?
the text of the error message is pretty self explanatory .. it couldn't find the control file.
The control files are specified by the "control_files" initialilzation paramter. When you get this error, the instance has started but was unable to mount the control file. since the init file (spfile) was processed and the instance started you can easily see what it thinks are the control files.

Checkbox and ORA-20507: Invalid numeric value #:# for column
Hi All,
I'm facing problems Checkboxes in a form.
I created a form and report on a table. one of the fields on the form is a checkbox and when ever I want to create a new record or update with more than one value for the checkkbox I obtain the following error:
ORA-20507: Invalid numeric value #:# for column COLUMN_NAME Where by #:# is numbers
I think the error occurs at the processes of get_pk and process_row_of_......
how should I change the processes to accommodate the checkbox values.
Kind regards

Invalid input syntax for type boolean???? ahhhhhh
Hey all,
Has anyone come accross the 'invalid input syntax for type boolean' error - its driving me crazy trying to figure out what is wrong with my function/java code!!!
The postgres (using 8.1) function is:
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION selectstaffroles("varchar")
RETURNS refcursor AS
$BODY$
DECLARE
ResultSet refcursor;
whereClause ALIAS FOR $1;
BEGIN
OPEN ResultSet FOR
EXECUTE 'SELECT role.* FROM role left join staffrole on staffrole.roleid=role.roleid WHERE ' || whereClause;
RETURN Resultset;
END;
$BODY$
LANGUAGE 'plpgsql' VOLATILE;
WhereClause sent via java code =
c.colStaffRoleStaffID+"="+staff.getUserStaffID() -which basically is staffid=2
Once this query is executed via the java code i get the 'invalid input syntax for type boolean: "staffid=2" ' error. However if I type select selectstaffroles('staffid=2') using pgAdmin SQL window - no problems!
ANY HELP or suggestions will be greatly appreciated! - Thanks in advance!
EliAhh soz - silly mistake which was corrected pretty much as soon as post was posted!
Solution:
Within another method the where clause sent to the database function was enclosed within quotes! Removing quotes = problem resolved! -

a) Is there a password file ? Is the password correct in it ?
b) SYSDBA remote login is disabled. remote_login_passwordfile is not set to EXCLUSIVE in the spfile or init.ora.
Set: remote_login_passwordfile= EXCLUSIVE
Create a password file:

Windows:

Invalid input event for numeric control
Need to catch the event when invalid input being through out, customer doesn't like the notify.
George Zou
http://webspace.webring.com/people/og/gtoolboxI haven't had a big problem with this, and I plan to continue to use numeric controls instead of making everything strings, but it does seem strange that CVI doesn't catch this. I like the automatic range checking options, the programmable increment/decrement buttons, and the ease of use.
You can use a quirk in CVI to catch this: if you enter an invalid number like 1.2.3 or 3...14159 or 1-2, CVI triggers EVENT_VAL_CHANGED, but leaves the original number unchanged. So you can create a case in the callback for the numeric control for EVENT_VAL_CHANGED, and in that case check to see if the value is the same as the previous value. If it is, assume an invalid input. EVENT_VAL_CHANGED does not get fired if you just press Enter without changing the value.
There are a couple of limitations or drawbacks to this approach. It doesn't save your invalid entry, so you have to enter the whole thing again instead of just correcting your mistake. EVENT_VAL_CHANGED also gets fired if you use Delete or Backspace, even if the number you end up with is the same as the previous. So this approach will flag that as an invalid entry.
See the attached example.

"ORA-28267 Invalid NameSpace" with APEX 4.0.1 and WebLogic server
Hi all,
I have a page that has a simple query as Region Source. It all worked fine on Apex 3.2 with the iAS mod pl/sql gateway.
Query goes like this:
select servername, a.capture_name, a.status, a.source_database, a.captured_scn, a.applied_scn, b.state_changed_time, b.state
from DBA_CAPTURE@DBLNK_STRM_PADATARP a, V$STREAMS_CAPTURE@DBLNK_STRM_PADATARP b
where a.CAPTURE_NAME (+)= b.CAPTURE_NAME
(it reads out Oracle Streams status over a database link)
After migrating the page to Apex 4.0.1 and WebLogic (Oracle 11g SOA suite) frontend, the Apex page now gives the "ORA-28267 Invalid NameSpace" error for some strange reason.
Apex will now not validate the query in the edit region source page.
I think maybe the problem lies with the WebLogic setup, but exactly what it might be eludes me.
Anyone able to shed any light on this?
Regards,
-Haakon-Must have to do with the java based Apex Listener in conjunction with WebLogic and the execution of queries over database links.
Workaround was to create a materialized view in Apex database and select from that instead. -

Error - Invalid parsing schema for current workspace id
Hello,
Users logging into an application occasionally get a strange error: ORA-20104: create_collection_from_query_b Error:ORA-20001: Invalid parsing schema for current workspace ID.
The error occurs during a post authentication process. Does anyone know what could cause these in general or why it might only occur during the first login of the day?
Regards,
Dan
http://danielmcghan.us/
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tapigen/Scott,
Today the error mentioned in the last post occurred 3 times - the highest number in a single day yet. Also, to add to the dilemma, a new one occurred:
ORA-20104: create_collection_from_query_b Error:ORA-20101: Application collection exists
Knowing that the create collection process is called from a post authentication process I don't see how that the collection could exist for that session... Any ideas?

order by 1;What do you suppose oracle is doing when it parses your query and it sees "order" where it is expecting a table name? -
Dashboard refresh - ORA-24373 invalid length specified for statement
Post Author: Reesy
CA Forum: Performance Management and Dashboards
I am getting the following error message in the log file "ORA-24373: invalid length specified for statement" when trying to refresh a metric via dashboard manager. The metric has been successfully refreshed previously. The only change that I am aware of is that more data has been added to the underlying database (Oracle 10g).
There are a number of different filters on the metric - some work ok - some give the above error.
Can anyone help?

Error -ORA-01483: invalid length for DATE or NUMBER bind variable
In discoverer plus, attempt to save a discoverer workbook into the database fails with the error:
ORA-01483 invalid length for DATE or NUMBER bind variable
The same workbook can be safely saved in "My Computer".
Any idea why and what is the solution.Why: not quite sure, probably the code is validating the workbook when it saves it to the db and you've got an error in the sql. What happens when you run the workbook that you saved to the file system? Does it show the same error when run?
Solution: Can you post the sql in the workbook? In the meantime try the following: Replace any to_char statements around dates with to_date statements instead. For example:
Replace:
where to_char(mydate, 'dd-mon-yyyy') = '05-apr-2009'
With:
where mydate = to_date('05-APR-2009','DD-MON-YYYY')
