ORA-30012: undo tablespace 'UNDOTBS' does not exist or of wrong type

OS Version : AIX 6.1
DB Version : 11.2.0.1
I am duplicating database and got below error:

RMAN-06136: ORACLE error from auxiliary database: ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated. Disconnection forced
ORA-30012: undo tablespace 'UNDOTBS' does not exist or of wrong type
Process ID: 44040326
Session ID: 65 Serial number: 3
Error is because in target database undo tablespace is UNDOTBS_NEW and in auxiliary database undo tablespace name in init file is UNDOTBS. I followed the meatlink doc 433992.1 which suggest following steps to recover from above error:
1) edit the parameter UNDO_MANAGEMENT to "MANUAL"
2) start database again
3) drop the UNDO tablespace
4) recreate UNDO tablespace which matches to name in init file.
5) shutdown & start DB again.
Now, i edited init file and tried to start DB and got following error:

  • ORACLE error 959 encountered ORA-00959: tablespace 'xyz' does not exist

    im importing a dump to a newly created BD and im using 11g. I have already tablespaces and user for the dump to be imported.
    The problems is, i have a total of 5 tablespaces created, all 4 are working well except the one tablespace and im receiving a 959 error(IMP-00003: ORACLE error 959 encountered
    ORA-00959: tablespace 'xyz' does not exist). The log mentions that the tablespace does not exist even if this tablespace exist in the list of tablespace and datafiles created.

    here are the result of my query and it seems that the tablespace is recognized by the DB.
    is there still any reason why? also when i try to drop the said tablespace in getting a response of the "tablespace does not exist" but when i try to create the tablespace it says that "ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
    ORA-00001: unique constraint (SYS.I_TS1) violated"
    hope you can help me with this.

  • 11gR2 DBCA ORA-00959: tablespace 'EXAMPLE' does not exist

    Hello everyone,
    I have searched for this specific error but found nothing on it (wonder why I am always the only one having those weird problem!!!)
    When I use DBCA, interactive graphical tool, to create a database the process won't end normally if I include example schema.
    Somewhere during the process I have an error message with the following : ORA-00959: tablespace 'EXAMPLE' does not exist. <-- well, the reason why it doesn't exist is because YOU are supposed to create it .... duh!
    Anyone have experienced the same problem?
    Database, Oracle 11gR2
    OS : Solaris 10 release 10/08
    Hardware : sparc, Sun E450
    Thank you for your time and support

    Dear all
    i using oracle 10g,when i creating create catalog tablespace "rman"; given this error ora-00959: tablespace rman not exist
    i have done already this
    step-1
    SQL> create tablespace rman
    2 datafile 'e:\vvelren\rman.dbf' size 6208k reuse
    3 autoextend on next 64k maxsize 3267m
    4 extent management local
    5 segment space management auto;
    step-2
    SQL> create user rman identified by rman
    2 default tablespace rman
    3 temporary tablespace temp
    4 quota unlimited on rman;
    step 3
    SQL> grant connect,resource,recovery_catalog_owner to rman;
    tablespace rman and datafile is showing in dictionary and also online
    after connect to target database
    rman> create catalog tablespace "rman";
    given this error-> ORACLE error from recovery catalog database: ORA-00959: tablespace 'rman' does not exist
    i am unstand where i am mistake.

    after connect to target database
    rman> create catalog tablespace "rman";
    given this error-> ORACLE error from recovery catalog database: ORA-00959: tablespace 'rman' does not existYou have to connect to the recovery catalog database not the target one. Also RMAN tablespace has to be created in the recovery catalog database. Hope you created there only.

    hello i have a 10 Database R1 installed on Redhat linux AS 4.
    i'm having a problem connecting to my database, whenever i try to connect i get the error
    ORA-01034: Oracle not available.
    ORA-27101 shared memory realm does not exist
    Linux Error: 2: No such file or directory.
    i checked my startup.log and i found the following after issuing a dbstart.

    ORA-01034: Oracle not available.

    my alert_ASYDB.log file has the following

    in the database creation log, i noticed that this segment could not be created.
    i can mount the databse but cannot open it
    is there anyway to recreate these segments or any other solution for that?
    i have tried to comment the line in initASYDB.ora but dd not work.
    regards

    Hi,
    >>do you recommend using auto undo_management instead of RBS?
    Yes. To simplify management of rollback segments, the Oracle9i database introduced Automatic Undo Management (AUM) where the database automatically manages allocation and management of undo (rollback) space among various active sessions. In a database using AUM, all transactions share a single undo tablespace. Any executing transaction can consume free space in this tablespace. Undo space is dynamically transferred from committed transactions to executing transactions in the event of space scarcity in the undo tablespace..The AUM feature also provides a way for administrators to exert control on undo retention. You can specify the amount of undo to be retained in terms of wall clock time (number of seconds). With retention control, you can configure your systems to allow long running queries to execute successfully without encountering ORA-1555 (Snapshot too old) errors ...
    For more information, you can take a look on these links below:

  • ORA-00942: table or view does not exist in database control

    Hi all,
    i am getting "ORA-00942: table or view does not exist" error while accessing tablespaces from database control. i am able to access control files, redo log files everything fine, but not tablespaces.
    database version ---> 10.2.0.1
    OS ----> RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 U 2
    but the database is working fine from SQL*Plus and other Editors. this error is only from database control. so what might be the cause.

  • NQSError: 17001 ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

    Hello everyone,
    we are experiencing problems in managing a single repository across different BI installations.
    We have two BI installation that uses two different databases: PRODUCTION and TESTING.
    We create analysys & reports in testing environment and if everything works as expected we migrate repository and analysys to the production server.
    These 2 databases have the same tables, the same tablespaces. The only difference between them is IP address of the server, name of the instance and tables owner.
    We create a repository using "BI Administration Tool" in testing server end everything works as expected.
    Now we need to migrate this repository to the production environment importing .rpd in the second BI server pointing this repository from TESTING database to PRODUCTION database.
    From "BI Administration Tool" we change tables owner username and password for rpd according to the values of PRODUCTION database then we import repository in production BI server.
    If we create analysis using views from single fact tables everything works as expected but if we try to correlate views from different fact tables BI gives us:
    *[nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 942, message: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist at OCI call OCIStmtExecute. [nQSError: 17010] SQL statement preparation failed. (HY000)*
    Can someone give us any suggestion about this??
    It's possible to create and then migrate repositoryes across different instances?
    Thank you in advance for any reply.
    Regards.

    Hi there,
    You should be able to build the RPD on a development server and then migrate through to production. It's interesting that it works for a single fact.
    Have you tried turning logging on for the user and validating the SQL being produced? Does it run against your production database through a query editor?
    Perhaps the production and test databases are different in a subtle way?
    Regards,
    James

    Anyone can help me?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    I think you are executing the select statement for schema X and the table is in the schema srnr.
    And schema X is not having select privilege on the table 'students' present in schema srnr.
    Goto schema srnr.
    Execute the following statement:
    grant select on students to X;
    This will give schema X the privilege to query the table students present in srnr.
    Regards,
    Anupama
