Faisal BalochHi Faisal,
which SQL version do you use? In 2005 there is no variable "date" or "time", instead of this you have to use "datetime".

ORA-01400 error on a mandatory column with Default value
Hi,
I have got a mapping, which is loading from one view to a target table. In the target table there is a column which is marked as "NOT NULL" also has got Default value. But my mapping is failing with ORA-01400 error.
Could you please guide me which setting in the mapping will make it load the default value in the target column?
Regards,
Samujjwal BasuI should add - I guess I can always put my own custom process in to replace the DML. Just seems like a simple thing - if the value doesn't appear on the debug, isn't set with any default value... don't include it in the DML.

DBMS_LDAP call fails with ORA-06512 Error Mapping function
Hi,
I am facing a problem with workflow integration with LDAP.
I receive

LibinHi Libin,
Can you please explain to me the parameters that you put in the Global Preferences, the LDAP_port,LDAP_user,and the others, because I dont know where I need to search in the server this parameters and I dont understand su much of OID.
if you can give to me and little description of that parameters,this would thank for much.

The error message is clear: the program you're trying to test by SM30 is not SAP (your SAP system of course)
Now try to check if you can see that program by SE38, but if you think the program is in SAP, prehaps you're running SM30 in another system:
For example:
the program was created in development system and you run SM30 in quality and that program hasn't been transported yet: so the program is in development but not in quality.

Setproperties on new ORDDOC gives ORA-6512?
Hello,
I am attempting to convert the CLOBs in an existing table into ORDDOCs in a new table.
I seemed to be almost there. I allocated a new ORDDOC using INIT(), and used writeToSource() on the doc pointer to transfer the text (which I first converted to RAW). The application that accepts this now lists the new document, and displays the text contents.
I now need to set the size (and MIME type, even though the app seems to understand that it's a text document). I called setproperties after writeToSource, and get a set of ORA-6510/ORA-6512 errors. (Included below)
I'd really appreciate any advice!
Thanx and regards,
Arn.

I'll try restating my requirements and problems, and hopefully that will help.
We have an existing table containing text comments in CLOBs. I need to convert the contents of each CLOB into a separate new ORDDOC object in a new table. After this, I will also create a JSP screen that will allow new comments to be submitted, which will also be saved in the DB as ORDDOC objects.
The script I provided was my attempt at the conversion, using doc.writeToSource(). My first question is, is this the right way to go about converting CLOBs to ORDDOCs?
I have a screen that lists documents in the DB. This list includes the document size, which I determine using getContentLength(). For "real" documents - that is, sourced from external files and uploaded using the browser, such metadata is automatically captured. For my new document that is sourced from the CLOB, this information (content length, MIME type) is not automatically captured. I therefore need to set it somehow. I attempted to use setproperties, as althought setMimeType works, there is no setContentLength function.
After your reply, we looked into writing our own plugin, but could not glean from the documentation how to go about this - eg, where and how content length is set.
I hope you can provide further advice on this problem.
Thanx again, and regards,
Arn. -
I have an application made in devlopment which is working fine and i jsut migrated it to production but when i am running one of the page in the app in production it si throwing this error "ORA-20001: Error fetching column value: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small"... this report is ment for generating report.
Now what i have done, i compared both dev and prod environment but i have not found and changes except this one. In the page of both the application in dev and prod under shared component under under template the region of breadcrum and report region is showing in different position. i dont think it a problem because of that i am facing problem.
If anybody have idea how could i recitfy the prbs i will be highly thankful to you

Adifriends i have seen where the error is coming but i am unable to trace out how to increase the size of lov which i have made.
when i am taking display as select list(named lov) it is throwing me the error "ORA-20001: Error fetching column value: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small" but if i am taking display as "popup lov(named lov)" under tablular form element under one of the column in the report, it is working properly. but not shwoing the report the way we want it to show. For that reason i want to increase the size of the love which i have made. -

ORA-02068 errors using a DB Link between source and remote db servers
I get the following error when I query a table or view on a remote database using a db link:

ERROR at line 1:
ORA-02068: following severe error from DURS.CONDEVD1.WORLD
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
14:03:53 SQL>
As you can see, the query works sometimes and then if I wait about 5 minutes, I get the error. If I run the query immediately after the error, it works fine.
rp_adm.users is a view which within the DDL it queries a remote database using a db link.
Any one have any idea how to get rid of this ORA-02068 and ORA-03113 error????By the way, this is running on Solaris 10 OS running Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.5.0 - 64bit databases.

Hi everybody,
I have installed on my laptop Oracle 8.1.6.0.0 Enterprise Edition, and after that Oracle 10.2.0.1 Enterprise Edition, and the two versions of Oracle are installed under the same operating system (which is XP SP2). When I use TOAD, I can connect to Oracle 8.1.6.0.0 database and to Oracle 10.2.0.1 database also. But when I use PowerBuilder 9.0 Enterprise Version to connect to Oracle 8.1.6.0.0 database , I have the error ORA-03134 "Connections to this server version are no longer supported". I "googled" for this ORA-03134 error , and the articles I saw say that this error is due to the fact that the 10g client can not connect to the 8i server. My question is the following: how to do so that when I use PowerBuilder 9.0 it's the 8i client -and not the 10g client- which connects to
the 8i server (because it seems like the error I have when I want to connect to Oracle 8.1.6.0.0 from PowerBuilder 9.0 is due to the fact that in this case it's 10g client which tries to connect to the 8i database).
Thanks in advance for your answers.What do you want with 8.1.6? It's desupported and was NEVER supported on XP. Even if the actual problem disappears,I would expect other problems still to arise.

Export Results ORA-00936 Error Reported
In an attempt to extract all of a package's source code in one file as well as work in a file-oriented fashion (which other posters have commented is not well supported), I issued a select dbms_metadata.get_ddl(...) from dual. This generated the output I wanted in the worksheet results. However, the ORA-00936 error is thrown when I try to export this as text to overwrite my (checked out from source control) file. My only recourse then becomes to copy the result, open my file (outside SQL-D) and replace what's there (which does work, by the way).
There was another post on this issue in a prior version where the error was attributed to double quotes around aliases, but I'm still getting the error (see Re: Export query results error, v. 5 / 1343This is a bug with how SQL Developer does it's export (not that I could find it logged on MetaLink).
When you export a query, SQL Developer writes a wrapper select around your query to drive the export. In an example of what you are trying to do, it converts the following query (I added an alias to see if that helped, but it didn't):
select dbms_metadata.get_ddl('PACKAGE', 'MY_PKG') my_ddl from dual;
to (based on the trace file with sql_trace switched on):
select * from (select from ( select dbms_metadata.get_ddl('PACKAGE', 'MY_PKG') my_ddl from dual));
Your immediate options are to continue with your current workaround, switch to a query on DBA_SOURCE for this export, or cope with the way SQL Developer currently does it's file based development.
As far as getting this fixed (hopefully before 1.1), you would either need to log an SR on MetaLink or hope that one of the SQL Developer team logs a bug based on this thread. -

Edited by: Purvik on Aug 25, 2009 11:59 AMThere is not a chance in the world, especially not knowing column definitions that I, and I suspect most anyone else, is going to wade through this much unformated code looking for an error you couldn't bother to copy in full.
Either tell us, specifically, the line on which the error is occurring or, better yet, start whacking stuff out of your code until you find the offending definition. That is certainly what I would do. Commenting out sections is a marvelous way to quickly find an issue.
Before you post again please read the FAQ. It will explain to you how to properly post and use the tags. -
I have a form which uses a customer form/report, drop downs etc..
the debug shows it running this statement
...Execute Statement: begin begin SELECT distinct initcap(RTRIM (LTRIM (e.surname, ' *0123456789-/:.?,'), ' *0123456789-/:.?,') || ', ' || RTRIM (LTRIM (e.first_name, ' *0123456789-/:.?,'), ' *0123456789-/:.?,' )) empname, e.ID bulk collect into wwv_flow_utilities.g_display,wwv_flow_utilities.g_value FROM dms.dms_employees@dmsprd e, dms.dms_employee_contracts@dmsprd ec WHERE e.ID = ec.emp_id and e.surname like '%%' AND :p75_date BETWEEN ec.start_date AND NVL (ec.end_date, :p75_date) AND e.brh_id = 3654 ORDER BY 1; end; end;
Then says
"report error: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small"
Any Ideas?
Thanks

A select list is limited in size. I am not sure what the limit is but that is definitelly the case.The maximum size for the HTML generated for a select list is 32K.
86 options sounds on the low side to be hitting that limit, but there are other concerns to this as well. Scrolling through hundreds/thousands of options in a select list is a pain for users, and huge select lists produce bloated pages that impact load times and network bandwidth. That list of around 200 countries you find on many sites is about the sensible maximum length for a select list.
You should use popups.Indeed. -
We face the above error in HTMLDB (APEX) application Ver 3.1.0. This occurs when we try to display more number of rows/records in drop-down list (LOV in tabular forms). We are able to display 200 records in LOV. When the list of records exceeds 230, we face the below error
report error:ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
the values listed in LOV are from tables (one of the columns in table)
Could anyone give us a solution?Hi
As you are using a tabular form, you could actually do the following:
1 - In the tabular form column's attributes, set the following:
Display as: Select List (query based on LOV)
Display extra values: Yes
List of values definition: SELECT null d, null r FROM DUAL
2 - Add a new page item and set it to generate your select list
3 - Create an HTML region with no template and use the following for its source:
<script type="text/javascript">
function loadList(c, l)
var s = document.getElementsByName(c);
var lItem = document.getElementById(l);
var lLength = lItem.options.length;
var k;
var j;
var x = lItem.innerHTML;
var v;
var o;
var z;
for (k = 0; k < s.length; k++)
z = s[k];
v = z.value;
z.options.length = 0;
for (j = 0; j < lLength; j++)
o = new Option()
o.value = lItem[j].value;
o.text = lItem[j].text;
z.options[j] = o;
z.value = v;
if (z.selectedIndex == -1)
z.selectedIndex = 0;
loadList("f05", "P1_MGR");
</script>
(Change "f05" and "P1_MGR" as appropriate to your column and your new page item respectively)
Now, when you load the page, the select list contains a null entry plus the entry already on the database. The javascript kicks in automatically, loops through every entry in the "f05" column, copies the existing value, replaces the select list with the new page item version and sets its value to the copied value.
Your new page item could be in a DIV tag that has a style of "display:none" to hide it from view.
