ORA-6550: CALL TO WPG_SESSION API FAILED.

Oracle Portal Release 2.
1) Logged into the Portal using orcladmin.
2) Created new schema called CMMS (had to use DEFAULT profile, ODSPSWDPROFILE would not allow schema to be created).
3) Created new user called CMMS through the ADMINISTER tab of portal design page.
4) Create new DAD called cmms_portal using Oracle Enterprise Manager on port 1810. Entered username CMMS, the password and the connection string.
5) Restarted HTTP server.
DOES NOT WORK!!!
Verified that the user CMMS is entered into the Oracle Internet Directory. Can log into CMMS through single sign-on.
Can log into CMMS schema using SQL*PLUS.
Reset user profile from DEFAULT to ODSPSWDPROFILE.
Verified connection string to that of orasso and portal in the $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/modplsql/conf/dads.conf file was the same
STILL DOES NOT WORK
Shutdown the mid-tier and the infrastructure and rebooted the server
STILL DIDN'T WORK
Able to connect to via SqlPlus.

Scott,
Thanks for your reply. I double check instruction and re-done all steps. I try to start demo application (I didn't even go further tneh step 4 in Install.txt!)
from ...\ssosdk307_032101\demo\plsql\Readme.txt 5. To verify the web server setup, go to the following URL to see the test page:
http://<hostname>:<port>/pls/<dad_name>/<schema_name>.test_setup
, but I receive the same error messages in IE and in Apache error_logs.
I see at this point one weak area - this is DAD. As I understand I need to create dad in dads.conf, am I right?
Maybe I didn't created it right?
Could you post some working dad for SingleSignOn?
Thanks,
Sergiy

  • Call to WPG_SESSION API Failed. Error-Code:6550

    Can someone please help me figure out what I may be doing wrong? Using recent downloaded versions of 8i and 9iAS I cannot access Portal30 using IE5 browser. Please see error below. During portal configuration I specified connect string of oracle:1521:dba1. The connectstring entry of the DAD is dba1. I ran ssodatan. The database is open, listener is listening and SQL*Plus, DBA Studio, Net8 Assistant all connect to dba1 fine. Discussions mention cookies, upgrades, etc., but nothing definitive. Troubleshooting Guide does not reference error 6550. I am at a loss. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    I downloaded and installed 8.1.7 on NT host oracle then downloaded and installed 9iAS on another NT host. Portal Diagnostics are successful, however I get database login failed when attempting to use IE5 browser to access portal at http://oracle/pls/portal30/PORTAL30.home

    null

    I met that error several times. Check TNS connection from web server box to database server, if applicable. - use tnsping.
    That's the only cause that produces the error. If the web server box has more than one Oracle Home, find the correct one. Check $iAS_home/Apache/bin/apachectl script which will tell you its oracle home directory. It may not use $TNS_ADMIN/tnsnames.ora, but $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora.

    Have you also upgraded your 9iAS instance to 1.0.2.2? The WPG_SESSION API error commonly appears when you are not using the lastest version of mod_plsql contained in 1.0.2.2.
    See: Migration Guide for Oracle9iAS Solaris or NT/2000.

    At what point do you see this error?
    e.g., On initial page request, or after login, etc.
    Is there any more information in the error_log?
    It looks like there's no data in the cookie when trying to decrypt it.

    Reza,
    Is this a new install?
    If so, on a new install, you often need to create an entry in the tnsnames.ora file within the Oracle9iAS $ORACLE_HOME. You can do this simply by copying the information from your tnsnames.ora in your Oracle 8.1.7 $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin.
    A lot of times, it could also be a difference of Portal trying to connect to the database with:
    ORA817.company.com
    instead of
    ORA817
    or vice versa.
    Check http://myhost.mydomain.com/pls/admin_/gateway.htm
    In each DAD, it will specify the connect string that Portal is trying to use to connect with. Make sure your tnsnames.ora is using the same.
    If this is not a new install, you may have just had a problem with the database. If this is not production, rather than debugging the problem connecting to the database. I have found that restarting the database and webserver usually works, that will at least get you back up and running. Then you can check the alert.log in the database for any problems or issues such as too many sessions, etc.
    Thanks,
    Sue

    Verify that the TNS name in the connectstring entry of the DAD for this URL is valid and the database listener is running.

    The error code implies an invalid cookie. This could be because the encryption key is invalid or the format of the cookie is corrupted. If the encryption key was invalid, the error would happen all of the time rather than 2 times out of 5. The only way I can see that the cookie format would be bad is if it got truncated. There is a 4K limit on the size of the buffer that passes cookies around, so it could be that the browser is sending more than 4k worth of cookies. However, if this were the case, then the error would be consistent from that browser after you exceeded the limit. Can you give a little more detail on exactly what you are doing when the error occurs?

  • Call to WPG_SESSION API Failed.

    I cannot access the portal from the home page (or any page) I cannot even get into the DAD configuration. I have never seen the new version of portal as it killed my old version on upgrade and I cannot seem to install the new one right. I have followed the install instructions to the T and still cannot get this software to run.
    I am getting really fed up with oracle portal.
    This is a fresh install of 9iAS 1.0.2.1 on windows 2000 I am running 8.1.7.
    Does anyone know what is going on and how to resolve this error?

    Can you tell me where the problem was for you? I am getting wpg_session api failed error 6550. I installed 8.1.7 on one host and 9iAS on another. Diag.exe succeeds. Dads seem to be ok. I can connect to the database using SQL*plus. I just can't get a portal web page.

    I finally figured out where the problem. As I said I already followed these instructions down to the 'T'. Anyway while you are here... I had a question about uploading images and inserting them into a table as blobs. Does portal support this (without custom dev)? I saw that you had responded to someone about this already, but the document you mentioned was a dead link.
    Thanks for responding and thanks in advance.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

  • Call to WPG_SESSION API w/6509

    All,
    I received this error as I was upgrading the
    Portal DB from 8.1.6.0 to 8.1.6.1. ORA-06509
    indicates that a non-SYS user owns SYS objects. On doing a query, PORTAL30 seems to
    contain a whole bunch objects V$ views, DBMS* etc that SYS ought to be owning and that other users access via synonyms.
    Metalink recommends dropping these objects (from the non-SYS user's schema).
    I would like to know how this happened in the
    first place ? Has anyone else experienced this ?
    Thanks
    Sanjay

    I also have faced the same errors while upgrading DB from 8.1.6 to 8.1.7. The real problem was the newer version has make many objects in portal and login schema invalid. You can check their status and if they are invalid then recompile all the objects again.
    Try this out....

  • MS CRM 2015 :DB locking issues while calling a web API inside an asynchronous Plugin.

    Hi,
    We have a SharePoint Integration where a Web API is deployed on SharePoint Server.We are calling this Web API in asynchronous plugin. Although the Plugin works fine. But  its causing DB issues .other custom applications like schedulers are breaking

    I analysed it and found that Web API sometime failed to instantiate the Proxy object ( Exception ::System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed out ).
    This results into the exception in  plugin OR cause of DB locking.
    Kindly suggest how to resolve this issue.

  • CSD_RULE_MATCH_FAILED-calling service request api from oracle apps adapter

    We are doing integration between Siebel and Oracle Apps. When a service request is created on Siebel we are passing that in Oracle Apps using Oracle Apps adapter which is calling a custom API which is doing all the validations and in turn is calling a public api for service request creation. There are two types of service requests - Field Service and Depot Repair. For Field Service we are able to successfully insert the data on Oracle Apps, but for Depot Repair we are getting an error 'CSD CSD_RULE_MATCH_FAILED' from the standard API.
    We have checked the setup and found it is proper. We invoked the pl/sql API from sql developer and we are able to insert the data. So we are facing this issue only when calling the api from oracle apps adapter.
    In the invoke call we have set these properties -
    jca.apps.RespApplication
    jca.apps.Responsibility
    jca.apps.Username
    Based on our analysis till now it is looking like a security context setup issue, but we are not really sure what properties to set.
    Any help in getting this through will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shantanu

    Hi Vijay,
    We have created the apps adapter with default settings as 'apps' user and set the properties Responsibility, RespApplication, Username of <invoke>. Other than that no other settings has been changed.
    Are we missing anything?
    This adapter is able to hit the database in case of 'Field Service' but it is failing for 'Depot Repair'.

    Hi,
    If rdbms/admin/externaljob.ora exists (in 10.2.0.3 and up) then external jobs run as the user and group specified in this file which should be nobody by default.
    If it does not exist (in releases prior to 10.2.0.3) then external jobs run as the owner of bin/extjob which should be nobody by default.
    Because external jobs run as a lowly privileged user (nobody) by default, you need to make sure that this user can execute your script. Things to check for include
    1) Use full paths to all binaries or scripts in job_action or program_action as well as calls inside the script.
    2) Make sure all scripts start with #!/bin/sh or another command interpreter
    3) Make sure all scripts have the executable bit set and are executable by the user that external jobs run as
    4) Make sure that all required environment variables are set. External jobs by default do not have any environment variables set. For example, for an oracle import or export or sqlloader script you may need to set oracle_home, oracle_sid, ld_library_path and path environment variables in your script or source the required Oracle environment script.
    Hope this helps,
    Ravi.

  • ORA-27369: job of type EXECUTABLE failed with exit code: Incorrect function

    Hello,
    I am calling a windows bat file using dbms_scheduler and getting the following error. I have searched the forum and the internet and tried different switches and options. None of them solved my problem.
    Oracle Version: Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    OracleJobScheduler is running as a service
    Error starting at line 1 in command:
    execute GET_RESULTS();
    Error report:
    ORA-27369: job of type EXECUTABLE failed with exit code: Incorrect function.
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_ISCHED", line 185
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SCHEDULER", line 486
    ORA-06512: at "PS.GET_RESULTS", line 67
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    27369. 00000 - "job of type EXECUTABLE failed with exit code: %s"
    *Cause:    A problem was encountered while running a job of type EXECUTABLE.
    The cause of the actual problem is identified by the exit code.
    *Action:   Correct the cause of the exit code and reschedule the job.
    Here is the code for scheduler
          dbms_output.put_line(os_commandline || utlPath || fileSeparator || 'get.bat >nul')
          dbms_scheduler.create_job
          (   job_name          =>'PS_GET_RESULTS'
                , job_action        => os_commandline || utlPath || fileSeparator || 'get.bat >nul'
                , job_type          =>'executable'
                , enabled           =>false
                , auto_drop         =>false
                , start_date        =>systimestamp
          dbms_scheduler.run_job(job_name =>'PS_GET_RESULTS');The dbs_output prints a line which shows that the parameters os_commandline, utlPath and fileSeparator are set correctly.
         C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe /q /c E:\UTLDir\get.bat >nulThe windows file (get.bat) is:
         "C:\Program Files (x86)\WinSCP\Winscp.exe" /script=e:\utldir\get_resultsThis batch file passes a script file to the executable winscp.exe to get files from another server.
    The script file (get_results) is:
         option batch abort
         option confirm off
         open sftp://username:password@ipnumber:port -hostkey="ssh-rsa 1024 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
         cd /usr/dropbox/
         option transfer binary
         get *.results E:\UTLDir\Results\
         close
         exitI tested the batch file directly and works fine and "gets" the files from the server. But, invoking from Oracle dbms_scheduler fails with ORA-27369: job of type EXECUTABLE failed with exit code: Incorrect function.
    Appreciate your help and time in suggesting additional guidelines or pointers.
    Thanks,
    Rose

    Here is an update, if somebody else is having a similar problem.
    The ftp command "cd" to change the directories should be an absolute path. I was given a path "/usr/dropbox/", but on the server it actually corresponds to "/usr/local/apps/dropbox/". After updating the directory path, the scheduler worked fine in invoking the batch file for transferring the files.
    Thanks,
    Rose
