Ora 92 Home -- Application

hello,
I installed (most of) Ora Home 92 -- the Application Development, Enterprise Mgr, Config & Migration Tools, Integrated Mgt Tools, Enterprise Mgt Packs & Quick Tools, and about all of the OTN disks 1, 2 & 3.
I did get a slight error at the end, but it didn't seem to initially make a difference.
But I do have two questions:
1) This was installed to the server under the administrator acct., as it should have been, but I -- a regular user with limited access to the server -- can't get to anything on it. Can the admin simply administer rights to my acct to use everything?
2) and secondly, I do get an error when I try to set up an ODBC config with the OraHome92 driver stating:
setup routines for the Oracle in OraHome92 ODBC driver could not be loaded due to system error code 5.
And
Could not load the setup or translator library.
Anyone know exactly what this means or what is missing?
Thanks!

Hi
i think this question should be posted in the "database" forum.
Best Regards

Where is the home/application support/address book folder in Lion?  Can't find it to put in a backup.
I made a mistake.  I want to find the home/library/application support/address book - not the application itself.  The whole library is not there - is it a hidden file?  And if so how do I get it to show?

Kappy, I was going to start a Thread about the Application Folder so I'm glad you brought it up and you said that it should not even exist. I've had an Applications Folder within my Home Folder thru multiple OS. I'm even tempted to say since OS 9, but I'm not sure about that. There has never been anything in that folder and I don't remember ever creating it. Infact, The folder to me looks like a folder that would be installed as part of the OS.

  • Diff ORA homes on same host

    Hi guys its me again
I have question is it possible to have homes of two different versions on same Linux host?
I have installed 10.2.0.3 Db on one home and on second one 9.2.0.4. After several attempts i have finnaly finish that but now i have this situation:
When i want to connect on 9i db with OS auth conn / as sysdba i have no problem BUT when i want to connect on 10g version of db i have this error message:
    [oracle@dbadmin 10.2.0]$ sqlplus /nolog

Just to say i always set ORA home and sid when switch between db's. I supose that problem is because i trying to connect locally on that host with 9i client on to 10g database but like i said alway export proper SID and HOME for it.
Please help me somehow with this issue....
    Thank you!

Yes, you can have as many installs as you want, but you need to change ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH to use a new home.
If the homes are registered in the oratab file you can use the "oraenv" utility to set the variables.

  • 4.1 Translation issue (german) in Home - Application Builder- Importieren

    Hi there,
while looking a little bit around
I found a translation issue in Home -> Application Builder-> Importieren
In all cases the verb "exportieren" e.g in
    "Datenbankanwendung, Seite oder Komponente exportieren"
rather must be the substantive "Export" (in fact the same as in English).
The usage of the verb is very misleading and says not what the the text is supposed to say.
(I think Patrick will see immediately what I mean.)
Also I would like to say, that the main page of APEX should be corrected
to indicate that 4.1 is running now.
    Regards
    Andre

    Andre,
Thanks for reporting this. I'll have a bug filed on this and this will have to be fixed in APEX 4.2.
Also, thanks for pointing that out about the home page of apex.oracle.com. We have not forgotten. It will be updated when Application Express 4.1 is released.

  • Home Application Folder

    Hi all,
It has recently just dawned on me that I not only have an Applications Folder, but an Application Folder in my Home Folder as well!! What exactly is this for?
I have only ever used the Applications Folder that all my apps get stored in automatically. My Home Application Folder has always been empty. I have two accounts on my MacBook, one for me and one for my wife. Mine is an Admin account, her's is a Standard account. I recently installed software for her TomTom sat nav on her account. Instead of putting the app in the main Applications Folder with everything else, it stored it in her Home Applications Folder. It is the only thing in that folder. Why would it do this? I do not remember it asking if the app was only for one user (even though it is!!). Obviously, when I log into my account, that tomtom app is not present in the Applications Folder because I assume it is in her Home applications Folder.
Why has this happened when every other app installed went automatically into the main Applications Folder? What exactly is the Home Applications Folder for and should I be using it?? Lastly, how do you install app's to the Home Application Folder instead of the Main Applications Folder if you want too? These are probably stupid questions, but are questions that would help me understand OSX much better!!
    Please help!!
    Thanks for the advice.
    Regards,
    Lucky

The difference, as you have noticed, is that items in a user's ~/Applications folder can only be accessed by that user. Application installers usually default to the main Applications folder, but you can install in pretty much any location (although the recommended location is one of the Applications folders). The installer may also provide a 'choose location' option for the install, and if installing from a disk image you can drag the application to your folder of choice.
Installing an application into the main /Applications folder (note that this requires admin access) makes them available to all users, but there may be cases where you want to restrict the access to a specific user, or just don't want to make it available to everyone. Also, a user can install applications into their own account if they don't have admin access to install to the /Applications folder - it just depends on the preferences of the user (or the admin). Personally, I use my user ~/Applications folder for script applications and for trying out new stuff.

  • ORA-20102: Application collection does not exist

we have just started receiving this error though we have not changed any of our logic for creating collections.
ORA-20102: Application collection C_PORTS_FAV does not exist
the logic for all processes creating collections always starts with the following:
    apex_collection.create_or_truncate_collection
    (p_collection_name => 'C_PORTS_FAV');
my understanding is that if the collection does not exist, it will be created...and if it does exist, it will be truncated....so why the error?
    any ideas appreciated. thanks

    Karen:
Check the database alert log first. To locate this file do the following
Connect to the database using sqlplus
    at the command prompt enter
    show parameter background_dump
The alert log will be in the directory displayed upon entering the above command. The file will have a name like alert_<db_name>.log

Well, it seems you achieved your purpose of removing all apps. Including the compass.
Yes, reinstall the OS, and the compass app will be included in the OS .

  • Newbie Question - Domestic/Home Applications for MacMini Server

I'm new to Mac Server but have just purchased a MacMini with Snow Leopard Server. Has anyone considered the benefits of running Mac Server in a domestic (home/family) situation. We have at least 3 iMac's at home and 2 MacBook Air's connecting to our home internet system (frequently).

    Mark,
I use a Mac OSX server at home. We have two iMacs, two MacBooks, one MacPro (HackPro) and an older G3. I find it very useful in that all the user accounts are network home accounts which means each of the kids can log onto any machine and get their desktop and resources. Also, backing up user files, including centrally stored music, is very easy as all the directories are stored on a RAID drive attached to the server. It is very easy to back that up to Amazon S3 or Rackspace. Parental controls are also very easy to implement on the server in Work Group Manager - much easier than on individual machines.

  • How do you increase the number of home/application pages?

Our family has iTouch 64G & everyone has setup a couple of individual home pages. It seem that there is currently a limit of 11 home pages. How can this be increased? We have plenty of memory available. Thx in advance.

unless you jailbrake your device (which would void your warranty), there is now way to increase the number of pages - 11 is the max !
future updates to the OS may or may not change that.

  • How can I retrieve the scroll bar in Home applications using OS 10.6.8?  I don't have a general section after clicking on System Preferences.  Thanks.

I have deleted the scroll bar twice in 4 years and I still don't know how to set it back.  Please help.

    hi Samberl
thanks a lot for the fast reply.
I was dragging folders from main folders on the laptop-desktop  onto the external drive icon - to copy them across....
Your suggestion sounds very promising -  I didn't know about 'cloning'.
Yes the idea is to backup the laptop -    I thought I would just move it all now, new - and then keep saving/dragging physically   across to the new drive myself each day or two...
Would this be the sizeof the internal hard drive = c.500 gb  ?   =   under the HD icon on desktop is written  :
    " 499.76gb , 311.5 gb free  "
I can erase and start agin on the new external drive - so this plan is to make two partititions, rather than the one at present, and make one of them 500 gb ?
I have found CCC [carbon copy cloner] googling - looks good.
When CCC site says it backs up  the hard drive - would this  mean all my files  [over 100 gb] that are mostly  in folders on the desktop, plus the others in itunes, iphotos etc found in the HD icon,  would all copy across successfully [wherever they are in the computer ]  ?
thanks again, hope you can clarify these things and then I will go for it.
It would be great and amazing if this 'lack of permission' message doesn't show up in the process of doing this ccc transfer - hopeful!

  • ORA-00942 on import application

I created an application in one database (Oracle 10) with Apex 4.1.1.
I exported this application, and tried to import it using the Apex 'Application Builder' page into another database (Oracle 10) with Apex 4.1.1.
But I encounter an ORA-942 (complete error message as shown in my browser).
    Workflow:
    - Open page Home - Application Builder - Import (page nr 460)
    - Browse for import file
File type 'Database Application, Page or Component Export'
    - Click next. For 2 sec's I see 'Importing file', then below error appears.
    Has anybody seen this?
PS Sofar only the default 'Sample Database Application' existed in the destination database, and that app is working normally.

  • ORA-06502 on Application edit page

I have a strange problem. When I entered the application: page +"Home>Application Builder>Application 106"+ this morning it display the following error where it usually display the lists of pages:
    report error:
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: NULL index table key value
It is the same for all the applications on this user. (I do not have other users with applications so I'm uncertain if it is a user problem or a global problem). If I run the application I can still navigate to a page and edit the page. The only thing that seems to be broken is the page listing on the first page. Any idea how to solve this?

  • How do I set up my Condé Nast At Home scheduled content application?

    The steps are pretty simple:
Open the Condé Nast At Home application. The application should open as soon as installation is complete. You can also open the program by clicking your desktop icon, or by clicking Start, then All Programs, then the name of the particular application.
To set up the application to print your Condé Nast At Home items, follow these steps:
    (1)    Select each of the days when you want prints.
    (2)    Select the time of day when you want your prints (these are in hourly slots).
    (3)    Select your printer from the list (PDF and XPS writers are not supported). .
    (4)    Don’t forget to click Save when you’re through!
You can also click the wrench icon () to open the Settings dialog, where you can:
    (1)    Turn Scheduled Printing On or Off (you might want to turn scheduled printing Off when you go on vacation, for instance).
    (2)    Set the desired action for when a scheduled print is missed. If you want the item to print immediately when you log in, select Automatically. If you want to be asked before an item is printed, select When Prompted. If you just want to skip missed items, select Never.
    (3)    Click Save in the Settings dialog to save your changes.
Don’t forget that on the days and times you’ve selected, your printer must be turned on, have paper, and be connected to your computer, and your computer must be on and connected to the Internet. Happy printing!

scooter has provided links to Apple's pages for the AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS).
Both of these devices are IEEE 802.11g wireless routers (also called base stations). If you have an Ethernet connection to the Internet (for example DSL or cable modem), you can connect either of these devices directly to that connection and create a wireless network. Since Ethernet and IEEE 802.11g are worldwide standards you can connect any compatible device (including PCs running Windows).
Every computer needs a unique IP address. You can think of an IP address as a street address for your house. A unique address guarantees that items addressed to you get to you.
Typically ISPs provide users with a single (one) public IP address. A public IP address is visible to anyone on the Internet. A router uses the single IP address provided by the ISP and creates multiple local (non-public) IP addresses for you computers. This allows you to use multiple computers.
If you need to connect both wireless and Ethernet computers you will need the AEBS. The AEBS provides a separate LAN port for Ethernet computers.
BTW, you can accomplish the same thing with any inexpensive wireless router.
The advantage of the AEBS over other routers is (a) built-in 56k modem for connecting to a dial-up ISP and (b) USB port for a single compatible printer.
The advantage of the AirPort Express over other routers is (a) sound output port for streaming music to a stereo and (b) USB port for a single compatible printer.
