I think there are scripts which need to be executed to create the BA and the Disco seeded reports. I am kind of confused about the whole think. Any pointers as to where to look foe the scripts would be really appreciated.

Image upload in ora apps env

Dear all, we have a requirement to upload employee images in the custom application we have built. The applicaiton runs under ora apps env.
Is there a procedure available in ora apps which we can call to upload images from client hard disk to the DB server ?
As i'm new to ora aps, please point me to the right direction.

I've done this several times, and many ways are possible. The easiest one is via dataload, which works fine, if your number of photos to load is not too high.

Ora Apps 11.5.10.2 two ORACLE_HOME 9i and 8 why?

Hi,
I installed Ora apps 11.5.10.2 and noticed that there are two database homes
1. /opt/oracle/visdb/9.2.0
2. /opt/oracle/visora/8.0.6
Please explain where there are two homes. Also after I restarted my machine I do not how to start database and from which home 9i or 8.

Ora Apps Concurrent Manager problem

Here Ora Apps 11i running on a NT server. For some reason Concurrent Manager Service ORAConcMgr terminated and it is
not starting up even if i rebooted the machine. Now unable to get any reports etc. from the system. The error thrown while
starting the service is :
Could not start the ORAConcMgr Service
Error 1058 : The service cannot be started , either be it is disabled or it has no enabled service.
Can anyone tell anything useful about it.

Hi Regarding the concurrent manager problem.
Could you please try to be specific on your error like 1st of all are you able to start the concurrent manager?
If so what is the status?
If not what is the status can you let me know the status so that i work out some thing to solve the problem.

ORA-APPS Link Error

Hi Everybody,
I've one question for you on ORA-APPS link which I have for training purpose. Currently this link is not working, when I try to open a form from APPS, the browser gets closed. I've OS windows XP SP2 and browser is IE 6.0. Please let me know if i need to change any system or browser settings.

Fnd_file.put_line(FND_FILE.OUTPUT in Ora Apps in SQL*Plus program

I have used fnd_file.put_line(FND_FILE.OUTPUT and fnd_file.put_line(FND_FILE.LOG many times for programs registered as PL/SQL Stored Procedure or used in DB Packages to write to the concurrent manager output and log files. No problem doing that. I have a simple program that I was going to register in Oracle Apps as a SQL*Plus script (instead of creating a DB procedure) that contains a PL/SQL block and will use fnd_file.put_line to write the output so it can be seen from the Concurrent Mgr View Requests. When the script runs the fnd_file.put_line(FND_FILE.OUTPUT... doesn't write to the output (or log) file. I am guessing fnd_file.put_line(FND_FILE.OUTPUT is not available to programs registered as SQL*PLUS.
Is that correct? Am I missing something simple that would allow it to run without creating a DB procedure/package.
I am testing this with a very simple script just to see if I can get something written to the output and log files.

Scheduling in Ora Apps

Hi,
I have a requirement where in the third party will enqueue the data to the queue. I want that in Oracle Apps, the data should be read as soon enqueued into the queue.
I have written a procedure to dequeue the data but dont know how to trigger it.
OS - Unix
EBS Version - 11.5.10.2
Queue - It will be a custom queue which will store the incoming data in form of XML.
Any pointers will be highly appreciated.

Hi, if it's a matter or reading a table feeded by a third party, you should schedule a concurrent program to run each X minutes....this is the easiest way to detect if a table has information but could be time and resources consuming because of that.
1 - Create a pl/sql package that read a table and process data if needed
2 - Create a concurrent program to execute this package
3 - Schedule that concurrent program to run each X minutes or hours...

Upgrading to JDK 1.2.2 with Ora Apps 11i

a patch that we need to apply requires us to upgrade to JDK 1.2.2. In the doc describing this process, we find instructions to comment out the line referencing to current JDK (wrapper.bin=[ORAHTTP_TOP]/jre/1.1.8/bin/jre) in jserv.properties... WE DONT HAVE THIS LINE, but what we do have is wrapper.bin=/u01/test/apps/testcomn/util/apache/1.3.9/Apache/jdk/bin/java
Has anyone run into this?

3.1.2 contains some minor bug fixes and should not present any major hurdles for you. Just be aware that PC anti-virus and firewalls can interfere with the OS download and upgrade. Best to disable those before you get started.

Ora apps urgent req

oracle apps using forms is it possible refresh,clear form or exit from one form to another form
using button, becoz i am using 2 forms called Form A and Form B. Form A is main form and calling Form B calling by function fnd_function.execute(FUNCTION_NAME=>'B').
If i change parameters in Form A, i want to pass latest parameters in Form B also.. but Form prev parameters B contains only.
How can i refresh Form B with latest parameters while i pass parameters dynamically from Form A.
otherwise, can i use do_key('exit_form') from FORM A ? i want to close FORM B from FORM A.

Specified workbook not found (Discoverer 4i with Ora Apps)

I am using Discoverer 4i with Oracle 11i.
When I try to open any workbook via any responsibility (of Oracle Apps) I get Error
Specified workbook not found: <workbook name>
When I click OK on error, all my work books are listed.
I have made sure users and responsibility have security access for Business Area
Also made sure the workbook is shared with users and responsibility
Any idea how I get rid of this error.

Hi,
The Oracle Apps uses the workbook developer key to locate and open the workbook. The Oracle Apps function that opens the workbook contains the developer key in the parameters for the function. This must match the developer key for the workbook shown in the Discoverer Manager Workbook -> Properties -> Identifier.

Ora AppS 10 Vs Oracle other Databases (Archtiecture diff)

I don't have idea about Oracle Application Server.
And i am going to check Oracle Application Server just for knowledge purpose.
I want to know, Is Oracle App Server 10 has same architecture like Oracle 10g or other databases.
I mean does it has same concept of Control file, datafile and others?
Can someone mention the points of "Post Implementation of Oracle Application Server 10"?
What should be mine primary task?

No, the Oracle Home directory could seem very similar, but is because they have a like a common platform, because is some products the OAS could use a database and the DB could use the Enterprise manager that need a little OAS for work, as OC4J and so on.
OAS have different control options, the master process is the opmn and it has his own folder with bin and config folders. And for the applications, like any web server, it needs where to alocate the apps, so it have the j2ee/OC4JContainter/... the database could have this but is because as I say it uses the EM.
THey are not quite similar but they could share some characteristics.

I would like commenets of my friends on Oracle Applications on Linux Plateform, am tempted to do it, it sounds wonderfull with all Powerfull Linux, but what troubles am I getting into I have no idea, any comments and experiences ...!!!

Your plan to install 11.0 and upgrade is ok. What you can do is in case of schema objects ..Take a export dump of you apps schema and that import it into linux after truncating the appsa schema installed on the linux machine.
